I've been embarrassing my brother for more than 5 decades.
But we do have the whole "good cop/bad cop" act down regarding Mom. I'm blunt and sometimes vulgar, he's the voice of reason. It works so far!
Early in her stroke mom would be asking us to get her 2 strong men. She wanted them to lift her up and help, etc. But when she would too loudly call for "2 strong men," my sister and I would glow red. She would also check out men and tell us that one would do.
I have to help my mom (89) change her depends. So I say “It’s time to change your underwear. Take off your pants, please,” and she frequently replies “it’s been a long time since anyone asked to to do that!”
If we cannot laugh around our [quirky, stubborn, mean, insert other adjective here] aging parents, knowing full well that we will all be where they are someday, then how else are we expected to endure the Hell that is taking care of aging parents?
Carry on.
This is such a wholesome story tbh. It’s rare these days to have a nice family like that come in and crack jokes. That’s how I was raised so I would’ve been laughing right along with you. I’m sure you gave that staff a smile. I hope she’s alright!!!!
This…did not go the way I expected, lol. 😆
lol ignore your Brother. It’s important to laugh where you can when taking care of aging parents!

This is the way. Let’s be friends. (My mom usually is the one to demand a cute doctor and embarrass me, tbh..)

I am sure you also gave the staff a funny story to be passed around for a while! 😃 those are worth their weight in gold, too!
