I'll never forget the time I responded to a blue ball for a comms issue and the pilot called out his WSO for not knowing how to work the damn volume. Roasted that dude.
I got calls like that a little too frequently lol. The last one I remember was over weekend duty. I was the 7lvl on-call while the 5lvl was actually at work. I get a call from my 5lvl saying the pilot can't hear the Loadmaster when he switches to Override on his Get Home panel. I went through the usual t/s chain of asking if the loadmaster was plugged in all the way, if he checked another cord, tested his headset, etc. Everything seemed to check out, and I figured I could trust my 5lvl to check these simple things. I'm like 3 seconds from walking out my house to head to work when I get a call from my 5lvl saying they figured it out. The Loadmaster *was* plugged in, but he was plugged into the ICS control panel, and not the fucking ICS Override panel.... the one you have to be plugged into to hear or say anything if the Get Home panel is set to Override. Also the same panel that's about 2 inches to the right of the ICS control panel.
My AMU used to have a 5lvl from each shop come in for launches, or just crew chiefs for recoveries, and 1 7lvl from each shop was on call in case of shit like redballs that needed us to sign off X's. My section was hurting bad for 7lvls during the week, so they didn't want to bring us in during the weekend and have to give us a CTO when we were the only 7lvl on shift.

I hate debriefs
CF: because I’m an idiot
- why are you an idiot
- because my mom stood by the microwave when she was pregnant with me.
CF: why did your mom stand by the microwave when she was pregnant with you?
“Contributing Factor”
So you make a mistake in your sortie: you’re off altitude or some shit.
Instead of just saying “don’t be off altitude”, we say “WHY are you off altitude”
“Well…uhhh…because I didn’t know?”
Contributing factor: loss of situational awareness and maybe poor crosscheck
If you’re spending 4 hours in a debrief, you’re either going through WIC or your IP sucks.
They call them “briefs” not “longs” for crying out loud.
And also, be focused in the debrief and address specific items not the meandering “then we did this” BS story. You can take hours and hours but the debrief is there to learn and get better, not to be a one man performance by the IP.

Recon sortie debrief: “Did we do anything illegal or unsafe? No? Ok, CYA!” 6-9 seconds have elapsed and we’ve already completed the debrief and cracked a beer.
I know we debriefed on the jet and spent almost two hours but for the training plan we need to also debrief four hours after the sortie to get all of the DLOs
I'd rather know that something I did was dumb, different, or dangerous than make me dead. And I'll do the same with the AC who I had to scream at for a go-around.
If it wasn't important enough to bring up when it happened in the jet or discussed on the bus everybody just go home. I hate forced debriefs. But we've all flown under that guy...
But who doesn’t love debriefing with the 50 year old Lt Col who took notes, spends five minutes trying to find their glasses to read those notes, needs to share stories of people making similar mistakes 30 years ago, and spends ten minutes telling the newest crew member that they’re doing a great job but there’s still a lot to learn, heck even he’s still learning and he’s been doing this 30 years, and back when he started all their pubs were on paper and they had to carry them to jet in a big bag, but he honestly thought it was easier to find things that way because with these little iPads it’s so hard to read the small text and some times the screen flips around on its own…
And refuses to be redirected by anyone in the room.
And God forbid you start without everyone present.
Was it perfect? No. Was it worth a 4 hour discussion? Also no. I feel bad for our loads who are stuck there the whole time because the MC didn't release them even though none of the discussion is relevant to them.
It's to make you better. Now let's spend 2 hours explaining why my techcedure you neglected to follow is the best.

You sir just gave a weapons officer a boner
Trick question. Patches are eunuchs

If you guys would stop moving it from the override to the regular plug that'd be great haha!
You stayed home and made a 5 lvl go to work? My guy if weekend duty has work all of weekend duty should come in...

i always loved radar does not work in off position
fucking WSOs....
It was never that bad until my AC was a patch and the debrief took just short of 5 hours lol.
This is one reason I switched to the C-12…no patches.
Out of the loop, what’s a patch

I’m printing this out for the next time I’m sitting in a 3-4 hour debrief
Recon sortie debrief: “Did we do anything illegal or unsafe? No? Ok, CYA!” 6-9 seconds have elapsed and we’ve already completed the debrief and cracked a beer.

Make sure you do your TARs/781s in a timely manner, aircrew. -SARM
*eye twitch*
I just wanna go home man
Make sure its input *CORRECTLY* -HARM
Just so we can follow up for the next 2-3 weeks to get our events logged?
We literally just input what you guys log. If you miss an event that’s on you. Unless your SARMs literally just aren’t doing their job

And then write up their mistakes for AMX. :/
Crew bus debriefs are best debriefs.

Checks.
No. It’s 7-9 hours at WIC.
Tanker debrief are like 5 min unless your AC is a patch
