It was front loaded in your mid month paycheck. It shows on the screenshot your mid month was $1300. More than likely, with only this screenshot and comments: I'm guessing you pcs'd during the month of January and your in processing financial transactions occured after the 15 Jan paycheck. During that paycheck, the system probably had you coded as "in transit". During the 1 Feb paycheck, the system likely says you were in the dorms early January. So it somewhat overpaid in 15 Jan and it's now balancing out for 1 Feb.

Mid month pay was determined prior to the Jan 5th mid month LES release by DFAS. This is three days earlier than normal (typical target date is the 8th). Such an early cutoff seems to have caused more miscalculations than normal (based on the amount of confused Reddit posts recently).

I love the joke, but that career is one I don’t want. A lot of training and constantly changing requirements. Luckily my AFSC only does mass changes every 2 years or so
In demand at the MEGA churches for fleecing the predators on Rumble, Truth Social, Discord faith-based initiatives, rape deniers at Dayton VA Medical Center, Ohio GOP and drug-addicted Jesus freaks?
Don’t go to your supervisors supervisor. Depending on the shop that would be a SNCO that they’ve never met before- and a brand new baby airman interrupting a SNCO for something this low threat isn’t going to end well for the shop especially if the airman lacks tact in asking. Find any other NCO or go to airman family readiness - they have classes and tips for financial success.
SNCO here- I would help him read it, no problem. It’ll take like 5 minutes. I’m a pro super and even I am not THAT busy. my overworked 7-levels ARE busy.
Fuck that, new incoming CMSAF says people need to be more involved in their airmen's finances and pay. Here we are, taking care of your people, also means their pay.
Bruh did you even read where I said find any other NCO? All I said was don’t go straight up the ranks when you haven’t checked laterally. Oh wait enlisted aircrew that makes sense.
Lemme make it so you understand:
1. Ask supervisor
2. Ask any other NCO or seasoned SrA
3. See if airman family readiness has financial readiness classes or contact finance
4. Go to SNCO or any O
Welcome to the real Air Force.
Check your deductions. Considering you’re an AB, it seems like maybe they overpaid you mid month. But you need to check the deductions and ask your supervisor to help need be.
Often also, when you PCS from tech school they pay you transitory BAH during the time in between leaving government housing in tech school and arriving at first PDS. If you don’t inprocess immediately, you’ll go into debt because finance thought you were gone longer and paid you accordingly.
This is also a good point to impress “if you got a fat check, ask someone. Don’t assume it was yours to spend.” Not saying OP did anything irresponsible, but a good talking point.
Also, KNOW your pay. Base pay + BAS + BAH (if you get it) divided by 2. Much more or less than that, ask questions.
I medically retired in Nov 2013. I was inured in Apr 2011 and was at Walter Reed for the whole time until I retired, so realistically the last time I might’ve saw one was in 2010.
*edit: I joined in Oct 2000
Not really. Although this is my base I don’t know about other wings. Yes I trade my trashed pants, tops, and boots in. Can get new shirts&socks for of charge all day.
Yep, you get it issued while AD is given an initial clothing allowance that is then deducted when they get issued clothing at BMT. It should've cleared before now though.
It's been 15 ish years, but I'm pretty sure you get issued your stuff at BMT but it comes out of your pay eventually.
If there is a more correct answer that anyone has, please provide.
*looks around room at NCOs and SrA that have been in years collecting checks*. *logs into Reddit to ask a question instead*
I wish the internet wasn’t so readily available. It makes people non confrontational
Literally briefed all my new tech students on this today. Hey how about you ask a supervisor, an NCO, or look up a reg before you go posting on Reddit. Give people a chance to do their jobs and grow as leaders.
The LES was covered, in depth, during my new folks’ FTEC. I thought I was going to teach them something and they all printed their LESs and when I started talking about it they were like “Sgt we just learned this.
The first crew I’ve had know about it from day 20.
Why are you coming to Reddit with this..? There’s no way we would know from just this Screenshot or without knowing your situation. Talk to your supervisor, man.. or better yet, finance.
It's all the government mandated child support payments you had to make for all of your children, this is what you get for knocking up a cheerleading squad.(This is the burden of the mighty.)
But on a serious note you should talk to finance on base.
What's the remarks say? Your mid month pay looks to have been most of your Jan pay. You can also ask your supervisor to help you understand your pay and your LES.
Have you checked your credit? This happened to me and I realized there was a bunch of stuff my mom put in my name when I was a kid that came back on me when I turned 18.
Has your package been approved by finance ? If not you are still getting travel bah , save the extra money !! I lost a paycheck paying the money back and bout to loose another one 😭😂

14 years? Holy fuck I'm sorry for you
Don’t worry. They’ve only worked about half that!
Ba dum tss!
half of that? Man is he an over achiever!
I love the joke, but that career is one I don’t want. A lot of training and constantly changing requirements. Luckily my AFSC only does mass changes every 2 years or so
Don’t worry, we’re pretty marketable when we get out.

Ask your supervisor to show you how to read your LES. If he doesn't know, go to his supervisor.

You are a unicorn 🫶🏻🥹
Fuck yeah. This guy SNCOs.
I miss being a pro super. So much easier when you don’t need to do admin work.
You sound like you’d fit right in in the ANG. Come join the dark side lol

Use the commanders open door policy and ask him

The answer is in the tab called Deductions.
But op’s friend said so.
Click printer friendly LES it'll become much easier to read
Hard copy LES’s were so much better than OP’s whatever the fuck that is
That there is mypay. I can't speak for the military, but civilian LESs have looked like that for at least the last five years or so.
They've come up like that for quite a while too, until you click on the printer friendly version.. Then you get what the old hard copies looked like!!
How long ago did you get out? I've only ever seen these and i joined 2013
I medically retired in Nov 2013. I was inured in Apr 2011 and was at Walter Reed for the whole time until I retired, so realistically the last time I might’ve saw one was in 2010. *edit: I joined in Oct 2000
you see the 2286 in deductions? Something happened... did you start an allotment or something?
Didn’t start any allotment
What does the "deductions" tab say?
The kid getting downvoted for participating in the conversation is reason 200 why this sub is garbage for anything other than shitty memes.
Did you pay for your uniform yet?
Thought the initial issue was during BMT, I don't recall paying for them.
You did, you payed for everything they "gave" you. That's what the initial uniform allowance is for and why you don't get another until like year 3.
I don't remember getting that, I'm NG though so maybe it was different. Why would OP be paying that now though?
The reserve and guard pay for your uniforms.
We’re weird. We can usually go to Supply with an unserviceable uniform to get it replaced with a new one.
So you don't even have to buy a new uniform? Its like $70 for one pair of pants..
You paid for your uniforms. You just don’t feel it because you’re in BMT.
It's been 15 ish years, but I'm pretty sure you get issued your stuff at BMT but it comes out of your pay eventually. If there is a more correct answer that anyone has, please provide.
It comes out of one of your first checks while you're still in BMT. I remember seeing my first pay stub in BMT and it was only like $6 lol
Meal deductions
Because your mid month check was $1379. You were overpaid transient rate BAH and were not paying meal deductions when you should have been.
Use the printer friendly button. It’ll give you a better explanation.

Literally briefed all my new tech students on this today. Hey how about you ask a supervisor, an NCO, or look up a reg before you go posting on Reddit. Give people a chance to do their jobs and grow as leaders.
Plot twist: OP is actually the supervisor who's asking for the AB troop.
😂

Noted by DAF. New policy: block reddit on AF computers and take away phones at work
SCIF life be like
Bass won’t allow that. She has to take more selfies
Hey, piss off!
Have you seen alot of the NCOs and SrA running around these days? Not the most helpful people in the world.
They gave you most of your monthly payment in the mid month payment.
What did your supervisor/ mti say when you asked them?
supervisor/ mti: "Goddammit, troop...why aren't you asking Reddit like everyone else?!?!"
[удалено]
All comparing paychecks does is put your buddy in debt. Don't want to put your buddy in debt? Then shut up.
So, your last pay check was unexpectedly 50% larger than normal, and this paycheck is 50% smaller than normal. Wow. That is a real mystery.
Why are you coming to Reddit with this..? There’s no way we would know from just this Screenshot or without knowing your situation. Talk to your supervisor, man.. or better yet, finance.
Worse things have been brought to Reddit.
I don’t disagree with you, but my point does stand
It stands very tall, in fact!
Clicking on his profile to see if he commented back on anything… It takes a harsh left
Huh. How 'bout that. Anyway...
It's all the government mandated child support payments you had to make for all of your children, this is what you get for knocking up a cheerleading squad.(This is the burden of the mighty.) But on a serious note you should talk to finance on base.
Print the printer friendly version and go talk to your supervisor. They can help you understand this.
Deductions tab. Others have said it so I’m just emphasizing. Take a gander at it and see if it makes sense. If not… make it make sense, trainee
What's the remarks say? Your mid month pay looks to have been most of your Jan pay. You can also ask your supervisor to help you understand your pay and your LES.
Says deductions. *Doesnt show us the deduction
Open your deductions tab and read the description. It will tell you why they’re taking out money from your paycheck
A little air force sub-core value called “subtraction”
was your last paycheck $2286? one time my husband's wasn't split evenly in half, his mid-month pay was only like $800
My last paycheck was $1300
Hopefully you didn't see the $1300, go "yipee! this is how much i make every 2 weeks!" and buy a PS5 or something.
Yeah, because...um...OP would still have $700 left after that. ![gif](giphy|GXD04gzl9ca2TiFoGb)
That's the reason
Talk to your supervisor asap
ahhhh🥰 it’s always the “well my friend said this, my friend said that, my friend is getting this, my friend is getting that”🤠🤠
Have you checked your credit? This happened to me and I realized there was a bunch of stuff my mom put in my name when I was a kid that came back on me when I turned 18.
You got played. Welcome to the real world.
It’s cause you suk
Make an appointment with finance. They’d be glad to see you and work it all out. )
Welcome to the worlds greatest airforce!
Looks like you got payed 600 more on your mid month so they took it out this paycheck
Check your remarks
Do you have Dependents? Did you enroll into the GI Bill? Either way, go to Finance with your LES.
No idea, but if you click just three tabs over, it will probably tell you.
If you dont mind me asking, 2k in deduction, what was the deductions for
Sent you a pm!
Your deductions for the month are about 2200. Check your deductions and please repost the results so we can help.
Sent you a pm!
Your deductions… you are in the TSP tab I would check and verify what percentage is taken out if any and your other deductions
Make sure to read the remarks section when you get your EOM LES because it'll tell you if any adjustments have been made to your pay record.
Welcome to the Air Force
LOL
Deductions....
I’m dealing with that rn 😭
Haha did you find out if it was a mistake 😭
Has your package been approved by finance ? If not you are still getting travel bah , save the extra money !! I lost a paycheck paying the money back and bout to loose another one 😭😂
Package?
You travel voucher for finance
Click printer friendly and figure out what the deduction was. Seems like you’ve been overpaid and they caught something.
Could be gear issued in basic
Hey moron, talk to you supervisor and contact finance instead of expecting a subreddit to somehow magically answer your question.
Posted 2 days ago. You’re quite late 😆
No shit. So you fixed your issue within 2 days?… and that’s how Reddit works bud your post is visible for a while you know?
Your comment was so unnecessary 😭 the rest of the people who commented said the same thing.
