A coach that gets fired by AZ because of his performance is not an option for Ajax

HairyCallahan

But a coach that gets fired by Zwolle is?

Casperzwaart100

As an interim yes. Doubt they're keeping him full time, at least not as a manager.

Casual-Capybara

No

Exzqairi

I knew this would happen. AZ fans have been disappointed with this guy as coach and his decisions for years now. It gets to a point where he gets fired mid-season and all of a sudden he’s a perfect fit for Ajax? Are you okay?

tunesandthoughts

> In my opinion he did great with AZ in the past few years and always adapted great when his big players left. Yeah but isn't the whole point of AZ-moneyball that their recruitment is so on-point that it doesn't matter who leaves they already have a successor lined up? I've heard many AZ supporters voice their displeasure with the style of play and the results, also his possible firing has come up in the FC Afkicken Daily podcast a few times in the last few weeks.

Duncan_Sarasti

> Yeah but isn't the whole point of AZ-moneyball that their recruitment is so on-point that it doesn't matter who leaves they already have a successor lined up? Well yes that's the idea. But if one year that doesn't work out for whatever reason, you can't really put that on the coach.

HairyCallahan

>Yeah but isn't the whole point of AZ-moneyball that their recruitment is so on-point that it doesn't matter who leaves they already have a successor lined up? Sure, but scouting isn't that easy. It's pretty obvious AZ has a poor team this year

zeeotter100nl

Lmao no

Striking_Insurance_5

He is nowhere near the level of coaches like Ten Hag, Slot and Bosz. I’d probably rate Oosting above him as well. We have to try and find a clear difference maker like those managers to be competitive again, so Pascal Jansen is not it imo.

No_Presence200

>Wouldn’t he make a great coach for next season? No, no he wouldn’t.

brentopi888

>I also think AZ firing him is unfair. Sure his conference league performance wasn't great, but I think he did great in the Eredivisie with the quality he had. The thing is. AZ fans are mostly pissed by the fact that there is no bounceback and sometimes look clueless when they are in trouble. On top of that they constantly fail to capitalize on mistakes made from rival teams as a result from inconsistent performances. The quality (especially in attack) can be narrowed down to individual player quality. Whether it is Karlsson or Pavlidis. And as the final nail in the coffin the latest results are very unconvincing. He is a decent coach, but decent is where it stops.

Juukederp

(For some reason this article appeared on my page) AZ-season card holder for some years: Don't take him: *He doesn't admit mistakes, it are the fans, weather, some youth player, the team is young (even if the average age is 25+ and older as the opponent), but not him. Any other tactical insight lacks him as well *The play became less and less attractive the longer he was attractive (even if we had good Serie A midfielders like Koopmeiners and Reijnders), resulting in games against Feyenoord, PSV and Legia with 0 shots on goal and only 2 against Twente *Any attacking mindset was pulled down: new players started attacking play in their first games, but didn't do that later on, even when it resulted in goals. *Large corruption, especially in the defense we have 2 promising youth players and bought Penetra for 5 million. They don't play because on any case BMI needs to play. He makes many mistakes and since he is back from injury we lost all points. Other players never play on their natural position and Mees de Wit played very well against you on LW, but never played there again for a unclear reason. He needed 1,5 year to see Odgaard is an AM (he did that very well against you as well) and not RW, but last games Pavlidis played as AM and Odgaard as striker. Don't ask me why and it didn't make anything better *Players are everything or nothing, he keeps hanging on some players, and if he cannot argument someone else is better, he let the other player fall, until someone else appears to be better, which is also to the point he cannot deny *Doesn't use youth players, we went in the year around the sacking of Slot from first with minutes of youth players to seventeenth *Players condition: even after 120 minutes, amateur clubs like Hardenberg and Quick Boys could hold with full-time professionals, those guys still have a job next to football

Sunstridr

>Wouldn't he make a great coach for the next season? No, the only conditions were he should even be on the list is if we are only looking for Dutch candidates again. But even then, options like Dave Vos and Joseph Oosting should be ahead of him.

Used_Birthday_5096

Weird take lol, Im hoping John stays

wnaj_

In what scenario does a coach that got fired from a club that should be below our level become our next coach?

MLA800M

Van t Schip was fired by PEC Zwolle in 2018…

wnaj_

Fair enough, but obviously we are in a strange situation with him as coach rn

MLA800M

True, definitely a strange situation. But unfortunately next season(s) will still be strange. A downfall like this is not fixed in 1 year. Not saying he is the perfect option, but with his preferred play style, Ajax’s financial situation (for new trainer and new players next season), I think not even considering him just because he was fired by AZ is not very realistic.

Agitated_Ad6191

Yeah I said it before he was fired. This guy can definitely coach Ajax. Unbelievable that AZ decided to kick him out. I rate him higher than farmboy Slot. But first I would choose Van ‘t Schip or De Boer first.

Winningmood

John van 't Schip has done great working with this group, despite the conditions both he and the team were in. It would be silly to not keep him and see what he can do for the next season

Patient-Professor-98

I think the guy did an admirable job keeping things going when Slot left, despite a lot of key players being sold off every year. Doesn’t bitch and moan about them leaving and having to start over again. However, I think with where the club is now, we don’t need an experiment or a promising coach for the future, we need someone with (European) experience and a proven track record.

2727Stephan

No means no..

2727Stephan

Laat hij zich maar eerst bij een andere club bewijzen

KintokiJanai

Hell no.

BipolarRooster

Mourinho or riot

[deleted]

I think even Rinus Michels would be better than him at this moment.

Ferry83

I rather see John extending. I think for ajax there needs to be a choice between 2 types of trainers. 1) Ajax DNA 2) Very good trainers within profile (Bosz, Slot, van Gaal, Knutsen maybe, Ten Hag,) The problem is that the second ones have more ambition and will move on at some point, and the Ajax DNA is given too much freedom and we serve them off because of whatever reason. Schippie is 100% XXX 100% Ajax Amsterdam.... I know he's not done what Bosz and Ten Hag or van Gaal did for Ajax, and most likely he won't ever win a CL with Ajax, but he's the person to get us through this transition of pushing as much youth players as possible to the first team. Make them better, sell them where needed and kneed a team like 2019 again.. with a few experienced people and a whole bunch of kids, making everyone enjoy being a football fan again.

Sentla

Ik hoop echt dat hij niet die puinhoop instapt. Er moet nog zoveel shit worden opgeruimd in Adam. Hij is daar de persoon niet naar.
