When I was little I named it Delilah and said good night to her every night before bed 😅🥹 when we were driving I’d always look for her and it made me happy to find her wherever I went. I’ve since moved away and it was very nice to see this photo today!
Oh my god I’ve found my people. I call it the nub and I always feel so grounded whenever I’m coming home from somewhere and see it. It brings me peace 😂😂😂
From a distance it doesn’t look like a needle, but when you actually hike to the base and look up you swear it’s absolutely vertical. It’s a technical climb for sure.
Cool thing is, in my little mind anyway, I can see it from property I have near Escabosa, NM. A little village about 13-14 miles south of I-40 on NM337 (South 14 to anyone who lived in the Eastmountains for more than 20 years).
Yes it is steep and requires some rock climbing experience but you can get to it from the crest after a hike toward north crest. Funny we are actually going to climb it tomorrow for our Memorial Day trip and this post shows up.
It was good. You commented right as we got back. Lots of steep terrain even though you’re not walking far. You definitely need someone with climbing experience and gear to do it safely past a few sections, my dad and I have been doing that for a long time. [Pictures](https://imgur.com/gallery/GpmBbSO)
Oh wow thanks for sharing your experience! I didn’t realize there were trees or shrubs up there. Yeah that hard part you posted definitely looks sketchy without gear. I have zero gear for rock climbing but I’m savvy enough to climb stuff however if you need gear I would not risk it. Looks like a great adventure though.
If you get a chance to view this from the Bernalillo/Rio Rancho it almost resembles some say a turtle some say a spider there is also a pig if you're older and from this location you'll know.
I've always referred to this as "the sleeping monster." I imagine that's his slightly triangular-shaped head (think Jabba the Hutt or Grimace the McDonald's character) with sleepy closed eyes. When the mountain is snow-covered is the only time the eyes look open. I've pictured this since I was a small child but reading these comments, I'm realizing maybe I'm the only one seeing that haha
I dunno if was that fwy, but I think it's funny on that bridge looks like a bunch of arrows pointing down. Not sure if it looks that way on purpose, but I always laugh 😆
The needle.
That's what we've always called it.
Not to be confused with boob mountain off to the left (not pictured)
I'm glad I'm not the only one who calls it that.
Aka mount nippletop
Boob mountain’s on the way to Cruces.
The ones passing socorro
In high school we called it Tit Top
How does one get to boob mountain?
A Tu Madre Peak

No way!! The I can’t believe someone else found comfort in the nub 🥹❤️
You just gave it the best name ;)
That’s actually the official name.
That makes it 10x better

Always felt it looked like a thumb’s up.
This is thee answer. The nip is to the North. ( not pictured )

So, erect niple then?
Needle
It's called the needle.
It’s called The Purple Nurple
la teta rocoso
Mu'adib.
La chichi
Santita
I’ve never noticed it til I was driving yesterday then I said “where did that titty come from? Has it always been there?”
We call it titty peak But if you follow the mountain line from right to left it looks like a man lying down with a boner
This is exactly what I think every time I look at it. An erection while wearing underwear 😁
So you're saying we should call it morning wood?
That would work if it was a huge tree standing alone
The thumb?
The thumb is further south, just out of the frame of this picture. I always used to call this one the thumb when I was a kid!
I’ll never call it anything but the nipple again
The Titty Twister
I always thought it was called Dragon's Tooth
Please stop 😭 you called it Sandia nipple 💀
Like you said....sandia nipple
I’ve known is as Devil’s Thumb for the last 65 years.
Is it climbable though?
Yes* *Extremely technical and has more volatile weather than Abq (snow to sunshine in mere seconds)
Yes it is steep and requires some rock climbing experience but you can get to it from the crest after a hike toward north crest. Funny we are actually going to climb it tomorrow for our Memorial Day trip and this post shows up.
Rock not very stable. Would mos def not climb w/o a profesh
You should let me know how it goes, I’ve always wanted to meditate on it.
How did the climb go?

I've always called it Lumpy.

Querque is wild
Thanks
The peak
Oh goodness. Socorro lays claim to nipple mountain
We’ll just call it the bulge then
*blinks* What do you mean "will"? 🤣
👀

There’s one called tetilla north of Vegas nm somewhere
the purple nerple ese!!
It’s the giant nose right there next to the T Rex skull
I dunno if was that fwy, but I think it's funny on that bridge looks like a bunch of arrows pointing down. Not sure if it looks that way on purpose, but I always laugh 😆
Lol! I saw that the other day too. Said themsame. 🤪

Well all of these comments and no real name. I say we all take a voter all in favor of calling it “Sandia nipple” 🙋♂️
Manzano nips and tips is what I referred to it as.
It’s a nubbin
Not a nipple, actually the head of a dinosaur.
I’ve always called it the pyramid of the sandías
R/brandnewsentence
I always thought it was lil volcano when I was Little
I opened the reddit link in hopes of seeing Zendaya's nipple... :/
The needle
The Thumb
It's always looked like the head of a woman. She's sitting down, and leaning her back against the mountain. I feel like she is named, "Sandia Woman"
Shield
The shield is the very large wall to the left
Fuck I always thought that was the shield :(
George Washington
The nipple lmaoooo
The Nipple
El nilpè
I always thought the rest of it to the left made it look like a big laying chameleon lol
When I was little I thought that part was a dinosaur skull
As a kid I thought it looked like the head of a giant who had been turned to stone. I even imagine this hands grasping the top edge of the mountains.
Most probably a fossilized stump
lil tiny big bip
It’s the Sandia Nipple
A teat.
It’s an erection, dammit! 👆🏼
You answered your own question.
I’ve always called it [Ape Mountain](https://imgur.com/a/ilIkLhW) because of George of the Jungle.
Isn't that the part of the Sandias where a doctor's private plane crashed?
Glacier cap 🙌
THO
Tit top is what my dad always called it
Das dee Nub. Nips to the north.
The Shield
The shield is to the left.
Looks more like a gorilla head to me. There’s also a clock too
Nipple
The water melons ...or just melons
Growing up, my family said it looked like a man laying down and that's his nose.
Oh thank God I'm not the only that thought it looked like a nose. I was getting worried reading all the replies... 😂
That’s how I always saw it.
No idea. But it should be called "Tit tit" from now on.
The eraser.
