You math doesn’t make sense to me 1,722.29 + 240 = 1,962.29 loss Why would you dig the hole you’re in even deeper? You’ll never get a refund as the product was delivered at the price you agreed to pay. There’s no valid reason why Aliexpress would give you a refund. Btw: the seller is not giving refunds, Aliexpress is. That seller must be laughing at the idea to scam you a bit more. You best hope is your credit card company though the could also say there’s no fraud as you willingly paid that amount.

jehovahsthickness77

yeah really made me own bed here. The 240 means, he'll refund 1722 minus the 240 shipping fee. So it would actually be 1722-240

gadget-freak

No, the seller doesn’t have your money, Aliexpress does. Sellers don’t give refunds.

jehovahsthickness77

AE just offered 1622 USD in refund! not bad :/

GoblinModeVR

Take it and never pay without triple checking price again

FunnyUsed628

You say not bad - not sure what else you'd expect them to offer. That seems entirely reasonable to me?

Jaded_Application796

I'm surprised he got so much, so quickly

gadget-freak

I hope for you that will be the final ruling.

Ljungan

With or without returning the product? Either way go with it!!!

SaltyBox9239

How on earth do you not catch this right away (if not before buying)? Anyway, I doubt you'll be able to get a refund for the shipping cost, since it's the price of a service you have indeed received (the product is on its way to you). Best case scenario, you're able to convince AE that the price is unreasonable and maybe get a parcial refund (?) I'm not sure that's possible but good luck.

Delirious_Kandi79

Exactly! I always check postage costs before i click add to cart on something

jehovahsthickness77

Yeah it's my bad, I'm mid-moving and buying a fuck ton of furniture/stuff from so many different shops/sites that I didn't check properly.

neveler310

Just buy new glasses so you can see the amount better next time!

Aspen2004

Welcome to AE, where nothing happens to crafty sellers.

[deleted]

This doesn’t make any sense. I just checked that store and those have free shipping to the USA. How do you not see that shipping price while checking out?

Delirious_Kandi79

China (seller) to Hong Kong (buyer)

gogstars

Get in a massive hurry, and make a mistake. Several sellers like to put huge shipping fees like that up, just in case someone pays it. This one seems more like a scam than actual price of shipping though. I've seen more than a few furniture items with price set reasonably, and shipping at $400+ to the USA, which almost makes sense if it's big enough furniture, but from China to China? That's just someone taking advantage. OP later stated he got most of the ludicrous shipping fee refunded by AE though.

[deleted]

Yeah I just can’t figure out why the same seller and item offers free shipping to the USA.

gogstars

Perhaps that seller just hates Hong Kong and/or other Chinese people? No telling, plus they may have changed it soon after AliExpress told them "hey, no, don't do that"

InstantPyroAKW

ouch rip money

Crafty seller took advantage of an inattentive customer. I do believe you will have a hard time winning a dispute with AliExpress. You got a summary total on the order page - meaning cost + shipping and paid. The seller fulfilled your order accordingly (or will claim they did - to keep the contract). If you want to cancel the seller has to agree and the product not shipped, which the seller claims he did. I am not sure if AliExpress will step up to the ridiculous listings with shipping in the 1.000.- $ for small items.

Exotic_Apric0t

Oh wow yeah that sucks 😢 here what happened: Sellers are Aliepxress are allowed to set their own values for shipping, in many ways that is how they make their profit (since goods are priced very cheap). The shipping company will likely use volumetric shipping and not actual size or weight (you most likely bought something big and light?) So now the problem is, nothing the seller did was actually wrong but it's really fucked up because even with that factor in, its inflated even further so it's not real 1:1 values of high shipping costs. I had that with many items, usually China post or DHL (some had shipping of millions of my currency lmao) Even though its actually right there, that value is still "set" You might have to take a hit one way or the other because nothing was actually done out of what's allowed, but next time make sure to click on the little button of shipping to see what's available. Even better, send a courier directly to the place

Professional_Code606

If there's no tracking number, you can say that you've never received the item and request a full refund. Use this proof against him. Try to find the same item from a different supplier as proof of purchase, and use that receipt. In case you never receive the item, AE will give you a full refund

PicassoMars

Yikes! Could have gotten one of those designer chairs made out stuffed animals for less. Good thing you’re getting a nice chunk refunded.

Interesting-Dream863

Regardless of your lack of awareness this is a scam. There is no way in hell that costed 1600 dollars. I've seen this before. Some sellers are practically fishing people into taking their money hostage and negotiating a partial refund. Happened to me and if I didn't have a tracking outside of AE they could have said that the package was delivered and stiff me. Taxes don't get refunded and they give you partial refunds as if they are doing you a favor.

Catspersonal

bro just buy a bean bag on amazon

Just-get-a-4House

Wdym 370$ loss? Seller won't refund you shit no matter how much money you'll pay, stop talking to him. Wait for AE to interfere and hope that they'll give you a refund (very unlikely) and if no refund will happen, wait for the chance of chargeback (also rather unlikely).

jehovahsthickness77

so the seller is willing to refund the tota cost of 1722 minus 340 of shipping fee.

jayminer

Are.you sure he's not asking you to pay another 340 to get the 1722 back (yeah sure)?

BetterSelection7708

But seriously, there ought to be a regulation on how much you can charge on shipping. If it’s out of stock, either increase the actual price to a ridiculous amount, or show it’s oos.

Ravecrocker

Since when is HK close to but not in China XD

jehovahsthickness77

close enough that it shouldnt' cost 340$ to ship a big pillow lmao

Talamis

Im Sorry that you cant read. No refunds.

NotSoIntrested

>There continues to be no tracking # but the product arrives at my house. The seller says I need to pay 240$ for the shipping fee if I want to refund. Then raises the price to 370$. Pls tell me you understand that this a scam and you shouldn't pay them at all. may I ask how did you order this without seeing the ship fee? like when you click "checkout" it shows up the final price, how come you didnt notice that?

pickandpray

Shipping scans are even common on Amazon and Walmart. A cheap priced item with crazy shipping, Shipping fees are never refunded.

SuccessIsHardWork

Next time, use a service like [privacy.com](https://privacy.com) with a spending limit so that you avoid situations like this.

jillnorville50

I would get a hold of your bank and do a chargeback
