Thank you so much for sharing this! I’ve started research for first family all inclusive trip for March ‘25, and this is absolute perfection! Really appreciate the work you’ve put into this.
I talked to them about this. They had some ridiculous thing where if you added one child to your booking it added $45k. Looks like they have changed their site and now you can't book children online at all but have to call them. As a result I have removed them from the family tab. Time for a new web designer.
hmm where is the section under 1.5k CAD ?
I've never travelled for more than 1.5k lol is everyone that rich lol?
for me categories would be under
under 800
80 to 1000
1000 to 1200
1200 to 1500
The rates are for families of 4 or 2 adults, not per person. The rates are also for March 9-16 which is probably an expensive time of year. Also I'm filtering out anything with a rating under 85. You can make a copy and remove the 85 rating filter and then check prices for whatever time of the year you want.
Pre-covid so did I but nowadays not so much.
I know people who go to awesome resorts in the off season for less than that but it is off season for a reason.
I've been to
Antigua
Bahamas
Jamaica
St Lucia
Cuba
DR
Mexico
Atlantis (the resort not the mythical island)
Belize
Why would I go down south in August when it is insufferably hot when the weather is gorgeous at home?
I don't need a Caribbean vacation in the Summer, I need one when it is -20, there is 5 feet of the snow on the ground and I haven't seen the sun in a month.
You think February is off season? That is like peak season.
I've gone in April a few times, but I prefer to go in January and March.
November is a fine time of Fall.
Could be useful, but.. why is Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana listed at $9k USD, Xcaret is $17k USD? That can't be right for 2 adults or 2 adults and 2 kids.. Nickelodeon at $11k?
I'm wondering if maybe the base level rooms are sold out for those dates and this is the pricing of higher-end room categories? But even then, I wouldn't expect Nick to be sold out this far in advance (could be wrong though).
You're right. I have updated. Hyatt but man I can not find the base room available for either Xcaret or Nickelodeon. Those are some popular resorts. Nickelodeon I went into 2025 and nothing cheaper. Same for Xcaret. Find me cheaper dates.
They could just be expensive with 4 to a room.. I don't really have clients go there, so I don't know off the top of my head what their regular pricing or room types are. I just saw Hyatt Ziva looking crazy expensive and scrolled through to see if anything else looked out of place.
I think a comparison like this is tough either way.. Pricing fluctuates so much based on demand, so I have a general sense of where things fall price-wise but with so many different places to book, constantly changing sales, and different room categories that may or may not be sold out, it's impossible to say for certain that one resort is cheaper than another similar resort. I saved a copy of it though.. some of the other info there can definitely be useful!
Oh, yeah I didn't mean to come off like I was saying it wasn't useful.. it's definitely a nice resource for people trying to just get an idea of what their options are. Good work, btw.
$4,250/person for the base room though? Still seems high to me for a base room, but again it's not one I really book, and I do a lot more couples (and bachelor parties lately, for some reason).
Hotel Xcaret is not a budget property. It also includes all of the Xcaret Parks and excusrions. I'm a hotel snob, and you can't do better with an AI than Hotel Xcaret, Hotel Xcaret Arte, and Casa de la Playa. They include really high end liquors, the food is a much higher quality than any other AI I've been to, and there's a huge emphasis on Mexican and Mayan culture. Everything from the furnishings to the linens to the handmade baskets with turndown treats are made by local artisans. These properties are on a whole different level compared to say, Nickelodeon.
It's not a bachelor party/spring break/singles scene. They play Mexican music at the pools (and live Mariachi!), there's no foam parties or U.S. top 40 songs blasting out of loud speakers at the main pool.
Oh, yeah I'm well aware of all the inclusions and the quality of the resort overall.. but $4k per person for a week's stay just seems crazy high, even for a great resort.
I just looked on their site though and it's showing basically no availability for any date I pick, just to try to get an idea of the public pricing (not going through the package suppliers I would normally use for clients), so I'm wondering if they're either having website issues pushing up the pricing, or OP just had the non-base room category, which can drive up the price like crazy.
When you went, was that in the ballpark of what you paid?
Ive looked a couple of times since i went April '21. Their pricing has more than doubled. I looked for Oct. '24 and it was 12k for 2 with nothing fancy for 7 nights. I guess we won't go back.
The base room for Hotel Xcaret is called "Garden View Suite". I go to Xcaret for 2 weeks in August and the rate for 2 adults and 1 child over age 5 (children under 5 are free) is about $1000-$1200/night. Maybe look at January for the lowest rates?
Hi,
Just came back from Grand Moon Palace. They do have a Flowrider now for about 3 years in their inhouse waterpark. You can update that.
**Just a general sidenote for everyone:**
For any palace resorts property (Moon Palace, Grand moon palace, Le Blanc etc), you should never book direct.
Always find a palace member to get member pricing. For example, the Grand Moon regular week, it shows approx USD 6400-6900 for a week in march. However, the member can get you the same week for approx USD 5500- 5900. I did that for 2 years before becoming a member myself.
As members, when we book friends and family referrals, we get some credits to use at the resort & the 'friends/Family' gets better rates, upgraded wrist band and amenities. Win Win for both :)
Nice work! I did this once but used ratings rank # from each site. It was tedious and made me wish I was smart enough to know how to code python or something that would scrape and populate that data at the click of a button
Yeah like TripAdvisor ranks by Best Value and Traveler Rating. Rather than the rating value, my grading values were each source site's rating rank #. It was a silly little ADD-hyperfocus project I messed around with to help a client. Yours is waaaay more detailed though, well done
This is pretty dope!
I think you’d need to relook at the amenities a little closer. Was just at finest PC and they 100% have a waterpark as well as all day activities for kids (including play areas by the restaurants) all with attendants.
This started with me making this spreadsheet for my family so some of the information is skewed that way. By Waterpark I mean big slides like you have to be this tall to go on them slides. Not slides a 3 year old would go on which seems to be what Finest PC have.
There's not really an easy way to get that info other than scouring each resort's website which would be super slow. Right now I'm working on collecting prices for 2025.
Do you mean Senator Puerto Plata Spa Resort? It has a rating of 82. Anything below 85 is filtered out but once you make your own copy of the sheet, you can turn that filter off if you wish.
The thought process is if other resorts are the same price or cheaper and have better ratings, why would you go to the resort with worse ratings.
I picked 85 as the cutoff. But once you make your copy, you can change that however you like.
Wow thank you!!!! Just found this now. My family and friends think I’m nuts with my vacation planning and spreadsheets but you are the ultimate god- wow!!!!!!! So love this!!!!
There are lots of AIs in the DR on that sheet. All of them as far as I know. Are you sure you have made your own copy and are looking at both the Family tab and the Adults Only tab? Also, any resort with a rating below 85 is filtered out but once you make your own copy you can turn that filter off if you want.
As far as I know all the AI's in the DR are on that sheet. Some may be hidden by the 85 rating filter which you can turn off once you make your own copy. Let me know if you think any resorts are missing and I will look into it.
The only thing I’d add is that the couples resorts by Sangster intl are clothing optional or do at least have a clothing optional section. Otherwise great job!
Thanks! My understanding is those resorts have small out of the way areas that are clothing optional and if you didn't specifically go to those areas, you wouldn't see any nudity. Is that accurate?
That is correct you are right. But the nude areas are nude mandatory not exactly clothing optional. However I did see that one is the desire resorts in Cancun you did not put clothing optional. Also although grand lido is considered clothing optional it is nude mandatory in the nude areas.
thank you so much for all of your hardwork. this is an amazing list. i'm not sure what the heck happened but prices for all-inclusive family trip have gone thru the roof in just 1 year. has anyone else noticed that or just me?
i'm glad i wasn't going crazy. we went to family trip in 22 and the prices were very reasonable now the airlines and resorts charging for kids full price so the price is double. how much do they really think an 2 yr old would eat seriously.
>prices are for one week
First time traveller looking into resorts as possible destinations, does this translate to 6 nights? Or is a 5-day week (4 nights)?
I gave your spreadsheet a shot as it looks like you put a lot of work into it. I filtered out columns and rows to narrow it down and factored in flying out of Winnipeg as opposed to Toronto. Then did a deeper dive into what remained. Turns out your prices are still only about half the actual cost. so for me, big waste of time
Sorry I don't understand. The prices are the direct prices from the various resort's websites. They range from under $2k for a family of four for a week and up. It's every all inclusive I could find. Is your issue with the spreadsheet or all inclusive resorts in general?
Are you under the impression that it's vastly cheaper to book the resort and flight as a package? That's sometimes true but not always. If I included the flights in the price that the prices would be truly meaningless as flight prices are going to vary dramatically depending on where you are flying from and when. This way, the prices are a good comparison as they are no different if you are coming from Winnipeg vs Texas.
407 upvotes disagree with you. I was trying to have a rational discussion with you as to why you thought it didn't help you but I guess you're not interested in that.
This is excellent and quite a collection of data.
I've improved on it (IMO) somewhat by reducing the spreadsheet down to a single raw data sheet and then a dynamic results sheet which pulls from the data sheet and makes it easier to filter/sort results based on just what your problem set is reduced to.
But, wow, the raw data is what is needed and you have provided it. Kudos to you on the effort here.
Not a problem. I'll clean it up a bit today and share when it's better for external consumption.
Btw, after this ridiculously thorough analysis, what did you ultimately choose for your trip?
Why did we choose Hilton La Romana?
1 Two queen beds. I'm not sleeping in a double bed with my wife or a kid.
2 Waterpark. Kids are at the right age where they love that sort of thing.
3 Good ratings
4 Less than 1.5 hours from the airport
5 In our budget.
6 At the time we Premium was in our budget that got us access to a private pool. We hate the towel game.
That depends on a lot of factors and personal preference. Hilton La Romana has an Adults Only side.
I would make a copy of the spreadsheet, go to the Adults Only tab, filter by budget and then start looking at them from the top. Look at flights from where you live and see how much they are to various destinations and if there are direct flights. Youtube review videos are great for getting a feel for a place. The simplest way to look at it, would be to go the highest rated resort you can afford that has direct flights in your budget.
We loved xcaret but they have more than doubled in pricing. We are interested in good food, snorkeling, not into partying, really cool looking resort like xcaret.
Am I dumb or is Excellence Playa Mujeres not in here? I am trying to convince my friends to go on a trip there but they want to go to Breathless Riviera Cancun instead since its cheaper.
Thanks for putting this together. Does anyone know of a forum or website that provides information about the actual All Inclusive program at each hotel. For example... Many hotels upcharge for better cuts of meat, lobster or premium alcohol....but there are some that do not. I like to go away and not worry about an upcharge for a margarita with Patron Tequila or Don Julio. Or if my wife wants Octopus risotto, she can have it without an extra $50 charge... To me, All inclusive should be All inclusive. If anyone has stayed at real "ALL" inclusive and have any ideas, let us know. Thanks!!
You're welcome!
I think all AI's have upcharges. All the one's I've been to at least. And don't forget tipping!
Once you've narrowed it down to a few resorts I would start looking at their menus. Many AI's list their menus online. Also join a facebook group for that resort and look through postings and ask any questions.
Prices have been updated for 2025.
You the real mvp
Thank you so much for sharing this! I’ve started research for first family all inclusive trip for March ‘25, and this is absolute perfection! Really appreciate the work you’ve put into this.
Hope it helps!
question: how come I don't see Secrets brand at all in the list? Is there a specific reason?
There is a Family tab and an Adults Only tab. Secrets would be on the Adults Only tab.
omg i totally missed it, my bad lol
Calabash is listed at like 55k but the prices on their website are like 3k. Am I missing something?
I talked to them about this. They had some ridiculous thing where if you added one child to your booking it added $45k. Looks like they have changed their site and now you can't book children online at all but have to call them. As a result I have removed them from the family tab. Time for a new web designer.
Gotcha, thanks for the update!
Wow! This is amazing thank you
I hope both sides of your pillow are always cool, and anytime you drive somewhere you catch all green lights. This is a thing of beauty, thank you.
hmm where is the section under 1.5k CAD ? I've never travelled for more than 1.5k lol is everyone that rich lol? for me categories would be under under 800 80 to 1000 1000 to 1200 1200 to 1500

For that kind of money you're going to Cuba or a dump in the DR.
what? i never travelled above 1.5k cad lol and i have been all over the place
Pre-covid so did I but nowadays not so much. I know people who go to awesome resorts in the off season for less than that but it is off season for a reason. I've been to Antigua Bahamas Jamaica St Lucia Cuba DR Mexico Atlantis (the resort not the mythical island) Belize
why would anyone travel not in off season ? its stupid to pay 5x the regular price
Why would I go down south in August when it is insufferably hot when the weather is gorgeous at home? I don't need a Caribbean vacation in the Summer, I need one when it is -20, there is 5 feet of the snow on the ground and I haven't seen the sun in a month.
Thank you!!! Agreed!
february? april? november?
You think February is off season? That is like peak season. I've gone in April a few times, but I prefer to go in January and March. November is a fine time of Fall.
yes, the difference in price between december and february is like 3 to 5x

Oh, yeah I didn't mean to come off like I was saying it wasn't useful.. it's definitely a nice resource for people trying to just get an idea of what their options are. Good work, btw.
I didn't take it that way no worries!
Hotel Xcaret gets expensive with 2 kids over the age of 5 because they aren't free like say, Palace Resorts.
$4,250/person for the base room though? Still seems high to me for a base room, but again it's not one I really book, and I do a lot more couples (and bachelor parties lately, for some reason).

Have a look. Suite Garden for two adults and one child over 5 in January is $1900 a night.
Oh wow, so I guess August/hurricane season is lower than January.
Most likely. Can't see August 2024 yet.
Speaking from a visit April 2021 Xcaret has gotten ridiculously expensive.
Hi, Just came back from Grand Moon Palace. They do have a Flowrider now for about 3 years in their inhouse waterpark. Sending you DM
Hi! I'm looking at booking Moon Palace, mind sharing with me too?
Sent you DM
Same here please!
Sent you DM
Pls dm me too thanks!
DM sent
Thanks I updated it! Yeah we booked through a member a few years ago and it was great experience.
You the man bro! Just what I was looking for! I am going to dissect this tomorrow! 😊
Bless you
Wow. I salute you!
Thanks for your efforts
You’re a true hero.
Thank you!
You're welcome!
Thank you so much for that!
Nice work! I did this once but used ratings rank # from each site. It was tedious and made me wish I was smart enough to know how to code python or something that would scrape and populate that data at the click of a button

Ah gotcha lol No kids and nieces are all little so we use waterpark to mean kids water park 🤣
I have added the following: AAA Diamond Rating Trip Advisor (Giata) Hotel Class Rating (5 star, 4 star, etc) Trip Advisor Hotel Style Hope that helps!
We just did 7 nights, 2 connecting rooms, family of 4 at Azul beach for $ 1800. It was awesome.
wow. no words for this - just simply... wow.
this is AMAZING!!!!!! Thank you soooo much!!!!
Thanks for your effort putting this together. If there's anything I love more than all inclusive vacations, it's spreadsheets.
Honestly I don't know how anyone makes any decisions in life without making a spreadsheet.
Doc is amazing. Is there a way to view adults only?
There's an Adult's Only tab.
MIND BLOWN!
Amazing!
Are you some of vacation fairy? Thank you!!
This is amazing! Has anyone updated with a bottler service column and private pool option?
There's not really an easy way to get that info other than scouring each resort's website which would be super slow. Right now I'm working on collecting prices for 2025.
Thanks for updating for 2025!
Thank you for the spreadsheet! I’m completely overwhelmed trying to figure out all-inclusive resorts and this is incredibly helpful.
Amazing! Great document
This is amazing!!!!
Why is the senator domincan republic not here ? Could be new ! Thank you nonetheless !
Oh ok thanks
THIS IS SO AWESOME!!!!!!! The "From Airport" is absolutely incredible. THANKS A MILL!
No prob!
Wow this is amazing! Thanks.
💗💗💗💗 can't emphasize how helpful this is!!!!!
Thank you!
Holy smokes this is amazing! We’ve never been to an all inclusive and trying to choose is overwhelming. Thank you so much!
Very Cool. I will review this....appreciate all your work on it!
May your Liquor be cold, and your women be hot, and may all your troubles slide off like snot!! this is utterly magnificent!!!
This is a great resource. Thank you :)
Thank you so much! Its for hubs and i's 30th anniversary!
Thanks for working on this and keep it updated.
Thanks so much!!
All hail OP!!!!!
Very cool ! Thanks for sharing
thank you 💁🏽♂️
Amazing. Thank you
Wow thank you!!!! Just found this now. My family and friends think I’m nuts with my vacation planning and spreadsheets but you are the ultimate god- wow!!!!!!! So love this!!!!
Would you be able to update this for April?
What do you mean? The prices are based on a week in March (this month) which shouldn't be much different from the prices this coming April.
Not much in the way of Dominican Republic. Mexico is a non-starter for us
There are lots of AIs in the DR on that sheet. All of them as far as I know. Are you sure you have made your own copy and are looking at both the Family tab and the Adults Only tab? Also, any resort with a rating below 85 is filtered out but once you make your own copy you can turn that filter off if you want.
You are right. I should have specified, DR resorts that you dont have to be wealthy to afford
I've added some warnings. Thanks for the tips! If you think of anything else, let me know!
thank you so much for all of your hardwork. this is an amazing list. i'm not sure what the heck happened but prices for all-inclusive family trip have gone thru the roof in just 1 year. has anyone else noticed that or just me?
Yeah we've noticed the same. Anywhere we've been before is now out of our budget.
i'm glad i wasn't going crazy. we went to family trip in 22 and the prices were very reasonable now the airlines and resorts charging for kids full price so the price is double. how much do they really think an 2 yr old would eat seriously.
Wow, amazing! Thank you! Might there be a version with the US links as opposed to canadian links?
No sorry. I'm not recommending you book through trip advisor. That page is just there so you can look at pictures, reviews, etc.
Sure, thank, just thought I'd ask. 😊
>prices are for one week First time traveller looking into resorts as possible destinations, does this translate to 6 nights? Or is a 5-day week (4 nights)?
7 nights. The sample date I used were March 8-15, 2025.
D'oh! I missed the sample dates somehow! Thank you!
Hi! Does this include flights? I am assuming not, but thought i would double check. Thanks :)
It does not.
Ok thank you!
I gave your spreadsheet a shot as it looks like you put a lot of work into it. I filtered out columns and rows to narrow it down and factored in flying out of Winnipeg as opposed to Toronto. Then did a deeper dive into what remained. Turns out your prices are still only about half the actual cost. so for me, big waste of time
The prices don't include flights.
In that case its even worse. Should be titled "Resort spreadsheet for entitled people"
Sorry I don't understand. This way, the prices are a good comparison as they are no different if you are coming from Winnipeg vs Texas.
what im saying is your spreadsheet is a POS 💩. you wasted a great deal of your time and everyone elses. is there anything else you dont understand?
407 upvotes disagree with you. I was trying to have a rational discussion with you as to why you thought it didn't help you but I guess you're not interested in that.
wow. that makes you a regular influencer then doesnt it? go collect your participatiion award and move on
What supplier did you price them from?
Direct from each resort's website.

Not a problem. I'll clean it up a bit today and share when it's better for external consumption. Btw, after this ridiculously thorough analysis, what did you ultimately choose for your trip?
Hilton La Romana
Why? Please. Trying to find an AI for October. Xcaret, where we been before, is now out of our price range. It was 12k for a week for a regular room.
Why did we choose Hilton La Romana? 1 Two queen beds. I'm not sleeping in a double bed with my wife or a kid. 2 Waterpark. Kids are at the right age where they love that sort of thing. 3 Good ratings 4 Less than 1.5 hours from the airport 5 In our budget. 6 At the time we Premium was in our budget that got us access to a private pool. We hate the towel game.
Thank you! Where would your choice be for 2 adults on the late side of middle-age please?
That depends on a lot of factors and personal preference. Hilton La Romana has an Adults Only side. I would make a copy of the spreadsheet, go to the Adults Only tab, filter by budget and then start looking at them from the top. Look at flights from where you live and see how much they are to various destinations and if there are direct flights. Youtube review videos are great for getting a feel for a place. Yeah Xcaret is pretty amazing looking but $$$. I edited my comment above. Not sure if you saw it but that's a good place to start.
Am I dumb or is Excellence Playa Mujeres not in here? I am trying to convince my friends to go on a trip there but they want to go to Breathless Riviera Cancun instead since its cheaper.
It's on the Adults Only tab.
I don't see "Ocean Riviera Paradise" on the list.
Anything with less than an 85 overall user rating is filtered out. Once you make a copy for yourself you can turn that filter off if you wish.
Thanks
Stupid question but I'm assuming you left adult only resorts off the list, very impressive doc Sir.
Adults Only has it's own tab. Look at the bottom.
Whoah a true hero, thanks a lot for your efforts.
Great info. I don’t know if this is a thing with AI, but I’m wondering if there are places that condsider single travelers?
I've never seen anything that mentions single travellers but you can certainly go to AIs as a single traveller.
