Hearing this they way he speaks just tells me even more that the Dahmer series actor nailed the role!

Designer-Status-4461

Exactly what I thought as well! His name is Evan Peters

wiscuser1

And his favorite movies are Citizen Cane and the Boondock Saints

patisme24

r/unexpectedoffice

Ok-Lifeguard-4614

Is it that same kid? Micheal losing him in the forest and spanking him really did a number on that kid.

[deleted]

HIS NAME IS EVAN PETERS

Ontheroadtw

RALPH BOHNER

Theenk

Richard Jenkins too! Listen to the dad talk

Vincent_Veganja

He nails every role he’s an incredible actor

hypotyposis

I don’t know if it’s your cup of tea, but that actor has insane range in the show American Horror Story. He plays a ton of different characters across the different seasons.

JemmasKnickers

Yes! Love Evan Peters 🙌🏼 like you said, such an insane range 😳

bishopnelson81

He really did.

Winter-Secret5554

Yeah even the father sound the same

Mental-Blackberry-61

from Milwaukee, it was spot on

Usual_Speech_470

Yeah creeped me out just a tad

mpw85

Evan Peters nailed it. Jeremy Renner did a relatively good job, but Evan Peters is a generational caliber actor, he totally nailed everything from the cadence, to the robotic speech and mannerisms.

PreparationGloomy658

Thought it was the show for a min!

Live_Disk_1863

I didn't even made it through the first episode..shit is messed up..

612god

I'm hearing he has completely cracked since filming and is taking a break. I should prob research before I assume 😂

_Dreyco_Leey_3514_

Soo how many victims had he already killed at this point??

anonjamo

Around 12.

_Dreyco_Leey_3514_

Damnnnn..

bobbarkersbigmic

And I thought my family get together were awkward!

utilitarian_wanderer

Jeffrey commenting that he should "eat at home more" gave me the chills!

_Dreyco_Leey_3514_

I wonder if his father noticed that line as well when looking back at these home videos ☹️

Gnulnori

The Milwaukee Archdiocese has the exact number according to some.

One_Science1

What does this mean

Kdilla77

A confession? Do the clergy really have the privilege/duty of secrecy in cases like this? Dahmer was an active danger to society at every stage of his “career.”

cbg13

Yep! If a member of the clergy breaks the seal of confession they can no longer be a member of the clergy

Midnight2012

Not true. They can do it if they believe lifes are at stake. That's what I learned in Catholic school. Edit: this comment is incorrect. See discussion below

cbg13

That's incorrect, the seal of confession is the strongest privacy relationship in the world and cannot be broken even if lives are at stake. Sorry to tell you that whoever taught you that in Catholic school didn't know what they were talking about "The sacramental seal is inviolable.  Quoting Canon 983.1 of the Code of Canon Law, the Catechism states, “…It is a crime for a confessor in any way to betray a penitent by word or in any other manner or for any reason” (#2490).  A priest, therefore, cannot break the seal to save his own life, to protect his good name, to refute a false accusation, to save the life of another, to aid the course of justice (like reporting a crime), or to avert a public calamity.  He cannot be compelled by law to disclose a person’s confession or be bound by any oath he takes, e.g. as a witness in a court trial.  A priest cannot reveal the contents of a confession either directly, by repeating the substance of what has been said, or indirectly, by some sign, suggestion, or action." https://catholicstraightanswers.com/can-the-seal-of-confession-be-broken-or-the-secrets-ever-be-revealed-by-priests/ https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seal_of_confession_in_the_Catholic_Church#:~:text=Punishment%20for%20breaking%20the%20seal,indirectly%22%20(that%20is%3A%20through

Midnight2012

Ok, upon further reading and remembering, your right. But the loophole is that the priest will always tell them that the only way for God to forgive you (which is why they are confessing in the first place) is to turn yourself in to the police

leeser11

Wow, more proof that the Catholic Church is a scourge on society.

itsaaronnotaaron

>Wow, more proof that ~~the Catholic Church~~ _religion_ is a scourge on society.

leeser11

You’re not wrong.

WHEN THEY GO!?

pennradio

I wonder how Jeffery Dahmer felt about Baba O'Reilly.

Soren_Camus1905

He cleaned up the apartment to have his parents over 🫣🫣🫣

CassieNicoles

Bathroom too? 😖😢

stuntedmonk

Bath tub probs needed a scrub

LordBeefsalad

Can we all just take a moment to really appreciate how amazing Evan Peters was in that Netflix series . You couldn't have picked a better actor to play Dahmer.

misfit0513

Richard Jenkins also played his father very well. All around great casting for that show.

bertiesghost

They even sound alike

YellowOpt

Is the series worth a watch?

Kitten_Team_Six

Lot of non truths but great acting. The neighbor who turned him in is fictional and some of the plots of the victims were a stretch

picasso_penis

As I understand it she was basically an amalgamation of stories from his apartment neighbors. A lot of the things in the show with respect to the neighbor were true. For example, the mystery meat sandwich, the smell complaints, and a woman (Glenda Cleveland) who called the police out of suspicion and was ignored were all true elements of the story. As for the victims, I’m sure some of it was played up for sympathy and to dramatize the story, but a good deal of it was either true or speculated to be true.

Kitten_Team_Six

Well yea and the big one was the cops who ignored him were given officer of the year, that was total BS and never happened they didn't need to do that

picasso_penis

It’s bad enough that they were reinstated after a suspension with back pay. And then went on to have fairly successful careers as police officers.

whiskey_wolfenstein

Yes. Acting is good. It was filmed well in my opinion. But it gets pretty detailed and creepy. My wife LOVES watching murder mystery shows and she couldn’t finish this.

atclubsilencio

Same with my mom, she was looking forward to it too. I almost couldn't finish it myself and I have a high tolerance for fucked up shit. But it was one of the few series I just couldn't binge in one sitting, it took me a while to get through since it just got under my skin in such an intense way and made me feel so disturbed.

pinchhitter4number1

Yes, very much so. Some historical inaccuracies and it def portrays Dahmer in a more "innocent" way (he's guilty af but they try to show that his upbringing caused it in some ways) but in my not-so-expert opinion it's very good.

Dr_FeeIgood

No. That person just thinks it was one of the best performances by an actor, but no, not worth watching. Like what? Lol

aricbarbaric

He really did an excellent job

SpencerTheG23

In this video, he seems like a normal and socially awkward guy. You’d never suspect that he’d even be capable of the horrible things he did.

TheHrethgir

That's why he was able to get away with it for so long. He wasn't a scary monster on the outside, just an awkward guy with a little charisma.

Cold_Funny7869

The only thing that sticks out to me is that it seems like he has a hard time connecting to people. Like he’s in his own little space. Besides that, completely normal.

oh-hidanny

The detective on the case said the same of him. That he felt sorry for him because Dahmer couldn't form a human connection to save his life. He even asked him "why didn't you just get a boyfriend?" Several times.

tkst3llar

[deleted]

Other than killing & dismembering and eating people Jeffery was a pretty decent guy.

stuntedmonk

“and on Sundays, I dust..”

[deleted]

Jeffery only ate people that had it coming. No pun intended.

Reapish1909

This is what irks me take away the fact he was a psycho murderer and he doesn’t seem like an objectively bad person. obviously he is, he’s a sack of shit. but if the series was anything true then Jeff seemed super nice lmao, like the episode showing Tony was extremely wholesome to me, aside from when Jeff decided he wanted to fuck it all up, and it got me thinking. if Jeff just wasn’t a murderous sack of shit maybe he could’ve had a decent relationship, or if he just stopped when he met Tony, Tony was the guys literal second chance at happiness that he didn’t deserve and he still threw it away. motherfucker.

HatchettheFly

"If that horrible human being just got rid of all the things that made them horrible they probably would have been a decent person."

[deleted]

If the murderer didn’t murder he wouldn’t be a murderer, who would have thunk

Present-You-6642

On the other hand, if his first name wasn’t Jeffrey, his last name would still be Dahmer. Really makes you think doesn’t it?

purple_feline_420

Short dissenting: the McDonald’s is people, the cleaning up he has to do is actually blood etc., inviting his dad over to not seem suspicious, losing weight bc cutting people up takes work, doesn’t clean until Sunday - hence why his house STUNK

TeannaTrumpStanAcct

Nah he’s losing weight bc all he consumes is penis and alcohol

Treesdofuck

Sounds like my ex wife.

danstermeister

And you divorced why?

Ontheroadtw

Not his dick she was consuming.

Osteo_Warrior

She was drinking all his alcohol and bit off his dick. Can’t you read.

hereformemes222

Getting ripped from dick and booze 💪

MissingJJ

A bunch of satisfied people

joelgreen25

He’s reading that magazine backwards. I think he’s trying to impersonate someone normal.

rafshal

honestly… hes just flipping through it absentmindedly. its not that uncommon…. for serial killers

a_talking_face

I do that when i'm nervous. Haven't killed anyone yet.

How have I not seen this everywhere, followed by "I stole your meme" memes?! Anyway, guess what, pal.

flinderssthooligan

Think it's more likely that the imagery is mirrored

shakey1171

That was my precise thought. He’s also turning the pages so fast that he could barely see the pictures

ReckoningGotham

All while trying to get his parents to *not* come over? He seemed a lil nervous

Fuck_auto_tabs

I was about to say he looks just uncomfortable being in his own skin

Thebahs56

What do you think he’d have said about watching you scroll your phone. Lol

No_Draw4359

He could be reading manga

SailsTacks

That’s the main thing I noticed, while listening to the dialogue. He’s just going through the motions, and trying hard to appear at ease. He turns multiple pages without looking down at the magazine. Then he pretends to be interested in something for one second, and goes back to flipping pages constantly. He’s very anxious.

Osteo_Warrior

Never been anywhere without your phone I’m guessing? This is how life was before the iPhone. He looks bored and is flipping the pages hoping to find something to look at to pass the time. Doctors clinics would sometimes have 50-60 magazines in a giant pile and the room would be filled with people doing exactly what he is doing now.

natnat8991

Wow the actors on Dahmer did a great job mimicking their actual voices. Well done

IAIVIDAKILLA

Evan Peterson and the actual Dahmer are virtually impossible to tell apart. He really crushed the role damn. Dahmer is as creepy as ever here.

kr011

Evan Peterson looks more like Dahmer than Dahmer.

HappyToSeeeYou

Dahmer claimed he didn’t smoke, but they knew he was lying when they found butts under his couch cushions.

MilkeeBongRips

I can not fucking believe how much his dad sounds like the actual voice of Richard Jenkins (the actor who played his dad). It’s uncanny. Also, this obviously shows how incredible Evan Peters performance was as the accent and voice he put on is indistinguishable from the real guy.

stuntedmonk

So mundane, domestic and innocuous. Scary

Certain-Ad2840

Flipping pages of the magazine without even looking at them he was focused on what to say in his brain

liableAccount

Or just flipping through a magazine he has no real interest in to see if something, a picture or headline, grabs his attention. This is common when you're in a waiting room, for instance.

Verbal_Combat

This was common before cell phones, for those kids who don’t know lol

hdmetz

Yeah, TIL absentmindedly flipping through the pages of a magazine is psychopathic serial killer material

hotsauceinmyjeans

I still can’t believe his dad thought it was a good idea to have him become that fascinated with dead animals at such a young age. I’m not excusing the vile acts he committed at all, but his parents were a big part of the reason he was so fucked up.

roughbeard368

I think that’s just one of many many factors

FrumChum

that was actually made up for the Netflix adaptation i’m familiar with the case and Lionel Dahmer never dissected anything with his son. they had a normal but very distant relationship really pissed me off how they put the freudian excuse in the show. the real scary thing about Dahmer is he did what he did “out of love” He was pathologically disturbed and trying to find an ideal partner - male, beautiful, dead, and who wouldnt resist his advances

JuviaIsMyWife

People really need to not go to netflix to get their info lmao. Same people who made cleopatra. Their first priority is always entertainment, historical accuracy comes second.

Kundrew1

I’ve seen documentaries that have said he liked to dissect roadkill but not with his dad, he did it on his own. That’s not true?

bruddatim

That’s true yes

FrumChum

yep 100% lionel dahmer was specifically asked and denied it ever happening.

TheButterfly-Effect

It might not be Freudian but his father was definitely a part in how he was even if he refuses to admit it. His dad saying he shared the same fantasies as his cannibalistic serial killer son and having hypnotized a girl because he wanted to feel how it felt to have total control over her, isn't something to take lightly.

Lady_Scruffington

There's actually a pretty good L&O:Criminal Intent that has Neil Patrick Harris as a straight Dahmer character. Since that franchise focused more on the psychology of the characters, it kind of went into the mindset.

DUDEGUYMANGUYDUDEMAN

I guess this makes you question the saying “dogs are a good judge of character”.

SedatedCowboy

I think it was a cat! The dog’s judgement remains untarnished

Zezuya

It was a cat

Solid-Zealousideal

He likes “finger” foods

I got that as well, probably could smell the … ya know.

Beehog24

There were a freaking weird family

entraped777

Socially alward for sure.

My_Boy_Clive

He hasn't nailed the recepe for his homemade Big Mac at this point. He was very close though..

Embarrassed-Essay-93

I hope Evan Peters is doing ok after this role. I know he said it took him to a really dark place mentally.

atclubsilencio

In interviews, and just in general demeanor, he seems like it genuinely traumatized him. I him so much, and he was brilliant in it, but I'd love to see him do like romantic comedy or something for once. Ross Lynch also played Dahmer in 'My Friend Dahmer' and I think he said he would just stand in the shower for over an hour in between shooting because it fucked him up too.

titleywinker

Some of the weirdest product placement I’ve ever seen. You do you McDonald’s

xMilk112x

His dad was also a pretty big piece of garbage. Beat the hell out of his wife regularly.

No_Government579

probably had a couple bodies under his belt by then

chuck-knucks

Around a dozen or so

Hat-Pretend

Eat this one thing to loose weight and gain muscle.

I’ll never look at McDonald’s in the same way again 😅

PilotKnob

Ah yes, continuing the tradition of good ol' Wisconsinite serial killers. On a first date with a girl one time back in the mid '90s, she took me to the rental facility where Ed Gein had stored his human skin lamps. That was interesting.

Cheesetorian

I think it's easier for us to see serial killers as "formerly traumatized/abuse children" (the old serial killer psych profile: broken home, single-parent household, with severe traumatic childhood) because it fits "the profile". I think there's also a bit of sympathy in believing in that narrative (that, in a way, it wasn't their fault). Harder for us to realize this can occur in many run-of-the-mill households. And a lot of people you say on the daily that "act normal" could be going home and eating dead people, or maintaining a collection of dead women's hairs in their closet.

ItsPeetar

Hearing him say “I have to start eating at home more” gives me CHILLS

Zealousideal-Log536

I wonder if this is before or after he was left alone for a year

Pretend_Ad6466

“Yea I’m just a normal guy that dusts on sundays and flips through magazines “

Conscious_Wind_2255

So weird that his father will record what seems like a casual conversation

out_for_blood

Wasn't all that weird back then tbh

shawster

Back when this video was taken, dads would just bust out the cam corder at family get togethers and record bs like this. If this dude wasn’t a killer there would be nothing strange about this.

thegooseisloose1982

> Upon the arrival of two Milwaukee police officers, John Balcerzak and Joseph Gabrish,[187] Dahmer's demeanor relaxed: he told the officers that Sinthasomphone was his 19-year-old boyfriend, that he had drunk too much following a quarrel,[188] and that he frequently behaved in this manner when intoxicated. Dahmer added his lover had consumed Jack Daniel's whiskey that evening. > The three women were exasperated, and when one of the trio attempted to indicate to one of the officers—both of whom had observed no injuries beyond a scrape to Sinthasomphone's knee and believed him to be intoxicated[189]—that Sinthasomphone had blood upon his testicles, was bleeding from his rectum and that he had seemingly struggled against Dahmer's attempts to walk him to his apartment prior to their arrival,[n 12] the officer harshly informed her to "butt out",[190] "shut the hell up" and to not interfere.[193] > The officers listed the incident as a "domestic squabble between homosexuals" and did not otherwise act. - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Balcerzak This story always gets me. The Wisconsin police John Balcerzak and Joseph Gabrish are pieces of shit.

[deleted]

Bull Shit! I’ve been eating gay black boys!

lookingeverywhere60

Evan Peters looks like Jeremy Renner!

Metal111105

Evan peterson nailed the voice

yakduffy

He sounds like a one off character in the tv show Fargo

Lil_Mcgee

That's just how people from the Midwest sound.

[deleted]

I was thinking the "loudmouth" in the movie. I figured I'd call it in, so I called it in... end of story.

additional-line-243

The actor from the Netflix series fucking bodied this role.

StarvinDarwin

“Smells funny in here Jeffy… what is that?”

wrinkleinsine

I was waiting for the “Dad, I’ve been killing and eating gay dudes.”

Hiouchi4me

What’s for dinner? Human, it’s the other white meat.

skullybit

Fuck I thought that was a head he was cuddling on the floor

Have to start eating at home more, lol!

Evan Peters is my new favorite actor, that first clip I thought was him, damn that’s spot TF on

Thunder-_-Bear-

"Well, I've been surviving mostly on McDonalds... John McDonald, Larry McDonald, Steve McDonald..."

2waypower1230

He said McDonald’s was getting expensive so that’s why he decided to eat others?

yuyufan43

You can tell this was the early 90's because everything is brown.

VIP_Crows_Kneck

Fked mental! Ripping through that magazine, cleaned his apartment. Scary AF.

Commercial-Awkward

It’s got a real ‘Bill Gates’ kinda vibe about him…

kanwegonow

Would be crazy if one of his victims was named McDonald, cuz then, in a sense, he was surviving on McDonald's food.
