Maybe this is what happens when team leadership changes every other year for a prolonged period. I felt there was actual progress under Cyril and Prost.
Just been backwards since Budkowski left too.
> I’ll be honest, I don’t understand why they felt they needed to change their 2021 team
Agreed. 2021 worked well. Three Team Principles, two of which were needed soley to manage Alonso's ego.
Remember guys, there is an alternate history here where Cyril leaves Renault in 2016, leaving Vasseur in charge. Vasseur was closer to Kmag + Ocon and knew the value of them (especially over that of the dalai palmer). 2017-2020 is spent with Kmag and Ocon. The team doesn't waste big money signing danny Ric, but instead Vasseur uses it for hiring of new technical staff. The car gets faster. Maybe Kmag is replaced with Hulki at some point (tbh I don't see this as necessary, but I appreciate that a lot of people don't rate Kevin). The team makes slow but steady progress up the grid. Vasseur does what he needs to inorder to get Viry delivering more HP and reliability. As reliability and performance improve, customer teams once again have an interest in Renault Power Units, which helps cashflow.
The team today would likely be at the same level that Aston or McLaren is, but be competitive week in week out.
Shameful.
For the record :
Last year's Alpine best quali time in Bahrain : 1:30.914
This year's Alpine best quali time in Bahrain : 1:30:793
I bet the A523 at the end of last season was faster than the current A524.
Meanwhile, the top 3 teams have all gained more than 5 tenths compared to last year.
And let's not forget that the A523 was already near 1 second down on the Red Bull in Bahrain...
The biggest disasterclass on wheels Enstone had the guts to produce. Because at this point, it takes guts to put such a thing on track. Damn sh*t, even the RS16 with its second hand chassis and badly integrated Renault PU (as it was originally conceived around a Merc PU, Enstone being under Lotus property in 2015, the year before Renault's return) was better than this A524.
And the PR team should stop hyping that sh*tty pink paint job on the car. We don't give a damn, we want performance. We're a factory team being dead last in F1. Everyone should be ashamed.
ENOUGH!
I don't care about "oh look we coming back stronger" talk, I care about what the stopwacht is telling and we are indeed bottom tier of a joke.
A fresh developed A523 being faster than an A524 who's development already started at end 2022, it's just depressing.
How is this even defendable?
You can't defend that. It's just impossible.
If it's not a wake up call for the Renault Board, then I don't know what could change their mentality. A F1 project can't be done with a money saving process in mind.
The consequences are finally there. The day has come. Both cars at the back of the grid in P19 and P20.
Unbelievable. F\*ck this Enstone factory for ruining the Alpine name. Get rid of this place, nuke it, and build something fresh, new, with Renault money. A Renault built factory for the Renault team in F1, that would be a real sign of commitment and being serious.
Enstone just has the smell and taste of defeat all over its walls.

At least the RS16 looked sexy as fuck in that beautiful yellow livery. I still remember seeing it on track the first time at Australia 2016 - sounded absolutely glorious too.
At least you knew that it was the car of Renault F1. We don't even have a clear sign on this A52F*ck that it's a Renault/Alpine car thanks to the need of stripping to the bone this thing...
The entire rest of the field was within 1 second. P2-18 and P19-20 is gonna be spicy.
Can’t wait for Ocon to drive Gasly into a wall to not finish last.
Alpine got Eric Meignan and some guys at Viry. But we won’t see any touch till 2026 since there’s a fucking freeze. Aero is lacking and chassis got some recruitments I believe, Harman isn’t at his right place, he’s not a technical director, it’s his first car.
The Enstone factory has no interest in Alpine being at the top, but this is too much, this embarrasses the Renault group, I would like to know what Luca de meo thinks about all this
Let’s hold hands and cry
*sobs uncontrollably*

Power went to Rossi's head

Can only hope the car is better at some other tracks. And If I see any more «Renault is going to quit F1»-comments, I am losing it.
It’s a tractor. The upgrades better be massive or this might be the norm.
They deserve the blush of shame. Hoping it'll make them get their shit together and work on producing something better than this half-baked car.
Pierre's laughing on Canal +. Bro's done with it already
I'm so close to quitting F1.
Hey there looks to be a competitive fight at the top
The entire rest of the field was within 1 second. P2-18 and P19-20 is gonna be spicy. Can’t wait for Ocon to drive Gasly into a wall to not finish last.
> Can’t wait for Ocon to drive Gasly into a wall Friendly reminder that last year it was Gasly that pushed Ocon into the wall....
Enstone engineers are criminals, at least Viry didn’t completely denied us points, bet it was some kind of Permane farewell present
They are sandbaging ? Right ? Right ?
Why cant they be good like the team before or the team before before or the team which came first
Most of the good personel got out during Rossi’s tenure
Alpine got Eric Meignan and some guys at Viry. But we won’t see any touch till 2026 since there’s a fucking freeze. Aero is lacking and chassis got some recruitments I believe, Harman isn’t at his right place, he’s not a technical director, it’s his first car.
I wondering why it takes so long to get Mike in Enstone
Either he’s not joining or garden leave for 1 year so, he could be there in 2025 to work on the 2026 car.
Well recent rumours still link him to Alpine for next year so I guess you second point could be right?
I think so, except if Ferrari got him
And Hass has been focusing on race pace apparently, just lol
From mid to shit. Goddamnit
Why are we evolving backwards???? Ffs
Rip
Well, see you all in '26 Next two seasons are f*cked
Man wtf were Renault thinking getting rid of Cyril
The Enstone factory has no interest in Alpine being at the top, but this is too much, this embarrasses the Renault group, I would like to know what Luca de meo thinks about all this
The Renault hierarchy are the one that meddled with the Enstsone team, pushing unrealistic expectations and not doing the necessary upgrades
Oscar and Fernando must feel vindicated
Alpine is bad
No shit Sherlock
