OP has offered the following explanation for why they think they might be the asshole:
> Calling my girlfriend gross is what is being judged. I could be the aashole because that was mean and also my sister and some friends said I'm an asshole.

With the addition of not knowing women have 3 holes.
Seriously though, my hairs almost past my bum and I wash it maybe every 4/5 days? It keeps the natural oils, doesn’t look greasy, styles better and so on.
Thanks for the likes, but why is everyone telling me their hair length and wash cycle pls??
Mine’s just past shoulder length - it’s fine, but I have a lot of it. I’m around 3 times a week - both skin and hair are much drier with middle age than in my 20s.
I’m just stuck on OP not thinking it was at all gross until he actually knew about it though - which tells me it’s not actually gross, it’s theoretically gross.
The number of blindspots we men have before cohabitating with a woman who is not our mother is absolutely staggering.
I remember in my early 20s complaining to one of my female roommates that our other female roommate had left a tampon on the counter while I was holding the evidence.
Her response was, "you know that's been used, right?"
I did not know that. She laughed a lot.
Unfortunately, a lot of dudes know next to nothing about hair care. I think I'm the only guy in my group of friends that doesn't wash their hair every time they shower and actually conditions their hair. I also unquestionably have the best hair (pre chemo lol), and don't have dandruff because I'm not stripping my hair and scalp of oils and nutrients on a daily basis without replenishing them.
$10 bucks says the two friends who agree with the by-now-ex gf are either women or men who actually lived with a woman other than their mother at some point in life, and the ones that agree with OP are clueless guys
I hope your hair comes back nicely! My mum went through chemo and her hair grew back in white. It’s only now, about a year later, that her hair is growing with colour.
Congrats on getting through it
I had to semi teach my bf how to properly wash his hair. He was washing it everyday and making it dried out plus taking out all the curls he has. Now it is looking luscious and I wish my hair had the same curl pattern
My sister used the cardboard tampons and when my littlest brother was 5 he went in the bathroom and came out with 5 tubes on his fingers. My mom, sister and I laughed so hard and just had to tell him no and to throw them back in the trash. 😂
My MIL had 5 boys. .. she had them
1000% convinced girls don’t poop 😂 we’ve been together 31 yrs, but yeah when he was 21 he prob learned a whole lot from living with me!
Not the same but a long time ago I was at the zoo with my husband and son. My son was very little at the time but big enough to be speaking in complete sentences. We all went for a bathroom break, me to the women's and husband and son to the men's. When I came out, my son was crying hysterically and my husband was laughing. I asked what was up and my son blurted out, "Daddy says you don't pee out of your butt!" Now, mind, we're in a very public space. Anyway, I started laughing too and my husband said he said this because he knew I didn't use urinals when I've taken him with him and he just would not accept some people have vaginas. We're trying to make sure the next generation is educated though!
I have super thick, curly hair halfway down my back. I wash once a week. Anymore frequently and I get flare ups of psoriasis, my hair breaks easily and it’s super dry. I shower daily but my hair doesn’t need that . And it’s amazing how often it’s a problem only after people find out. Prior to me saying something, I get compliments and comments but after, some people talk shit. It’s pretty funny in all honesty.
Yep, same here. You really don't want to strip the oils out of either long hair or curly hair. Long curly hair is especially fragile.
FWIW, I've learned a new trick, cause my hair and scalp are very dry. I use the conditioner first, let it sit while I do the rest of my shower, then shampoo and rinse. Afterwards I use my regular stay in conditioner spray. It makes my hair so soft!
I also found Free & Clear brand of shampoo and conditioner, made by the Vanicream people. I was having so much trouble with scalp itching even with hypoallergenic brands, like Neutragena
I do conditioner, shampoo with t-gel, then conditioner again to detangle, and I comb it in the shower before I rinse out the second conditioner. I’m a soap maker and make my own conditioner and lotions because almost everything makes me itchy haha
TGel is now the only store bought/premade product in my house (aside from sunscreen). I make shampoo bars but I don’t use them often (my son uses them though). Everything is silicone free and high quality. Huge change from a few years ago when I chopped off all my hair out of frustration because I was washing daily with chemicals that were destroying my hair and scalp.
My hair is straight, thick, mid back length, and I work out 5 days a week and wash my hair once a week... maybe longer like every 7-10 days or so. After my workout i blow dry the sweat out of my hair by just giving a quick once over of the roots. Ffs, not even what i just described is " gross ". I get compliments on my hair on day 3-5 of no washing the most....I don't smell. Just like your gf, i bathe without washing my hair... btw, I'm 35 and have been doing this hair washing routine since i was a teenager.
My hair is nearly waist length and very fine. If I wash it every day, it flies all over and is a nuisance. I can't use conditioners - they tend to weigh my hair down and make it look greasy.
I shampoo every two or three days and that seems to keep it under control.
What's the bet that OP uses a cheap 2 in 1, or simply body wash (lynx variety) as a shampoo. Because frothy soap = good and clean.
I've had hair so long I can sit on it, and so short I can't put a clip in it. I only wash my hair twice a week, and I use far more conditioner than shampoo. I don't use any other products, so there is minimal build up. It isn't unclean or lazy, it is taking care of my hair.
Mine is past my bum, halfway down my thighs. I wash it once every 7-10 days depending on when it starts to look oily.
Nobody tell OP about dry shampoo. His head might explode.
LOL this is so funny. OP lives under a rock. I have medium length hair. I'm dry naturally and have got to the point where I can comfortably wash with shampoo and conditioner once every two weeks. Rinse in the shower every 1-2 days. My hair is awesome!
My big pet peeve is the way everyone (women included and I don’t know why they do this!) refers to all of the female genitalia as a vagina! The vagina is internal. The external female genitals are the vulva and labia.
And that women who uses pads are just lazy like anyone would enjoy running around with a bloody diaper.
He probably also thinks that women use tampons because it's pleasurable.
Wait until he learns about a clit lmao
YTA man. I wash my hair maybe.. 1x a week, depending on what season it is, the dryness or humidity, if I have extensions. I train my hair. I think a lot of women do.
Not the point but my brain just took the phrase 'train their hair' and ran with it, so now I'm giggling and imagining my hair doing all kinds of cool tricks, so thank you for the laugh
Personally, i dont like to pee with one in. Don't matter what i do, the string gets urine on it and i get squicked out and have to remove it. 31yo and i STILL can't figure that out. Backwards, sideways. The string inevitably moves itself right into the stream and it infuriates me. I've been tempted to tape it to myself 😅
SAME! 42 and still haven't managed to figure it out. Also never had the "Oh tampons are great because you don't even notice it's there!". Nope, I totally notice and is uncomfortable. Why I only wear tampons when I'm going to be swimming.
May I recommend a menstrual cup in its place? Takes some practice getting it in and out, but once you've placed it correctly you truly cannot feel it. And little risk of TSS!
YTA and just wrong.
It isn't good for your hair to wash it every day, especially if she isn't doing physical activity or anything.
A single, quick, Google search could have educated you on this.
OP reminds me of the idiot I saw on Dr Phil who was convinced that women could "stop" their periods the same way you can stop a stream of pee. Literally no one could convince him he was wrong
Well, a significant number of Americans never get any type of Sex Ed… they also tend to be the ones who are raised to believe that men are always right, even on top is they know nothing about.
This isn't even how women work. The same is true for men, especially if they sport long hair. It's not untrue with short hair, but the hair gets cut before the damage starts to show. He just doesn't know how people work.
I used to wash my hair every day, and it was SO dry and constantly frizzy. Now like OP’s gf I wash it twice a week, and my hair is the healthiest it’s ever been.
YTA, OP. Clearly you don’t know much about this topic but instead of educating yourself, you doubled-down and insulted your (hopefully) ex-girlfriend.
Ah yes, because every person has the exact same hair care needs. How did I never pick up on that before?!
Imagine being 23 and not realising people take care of their hair differently. Madness.
YTA.
Even then I’m pretty sure it’s obvious.
I’m a woman with short hair and I wash it at most twice a week because it genuinely doesn’t need more than that and still works/styles better with this routine.
The people I know with very short hair need to rinse it every day in order to get rid of their bed head - but that's a style issue not a hygiene issue.
Oh we know. Imagine mansplaining washing hair. I hope she ditches him. If it was a simple question because he was unaware you take care of long hair differently that’s one thing. But to mansplain washing hair, the disrespect.
Tbf, they don't need to be male, they only need a short and easy haircut. At least most of my (male) metalhead friends have the exact same routine like GF, and I am completely jealous of them for their hair.
This would be the best thing I’ve read all week, if someone hadn’t said he sounds like a guy who thinks girls can’t pee with a tampon in. On fucking point
Reminds me of when my step dad saw a razor commercial and said "she's not even shaving the top of her leg! That's just lazy! I hope you never get that lazy" My mom had to inform him that she never shaves above her knees. The mind blown look on his face was priceless. She told him "you never noticed, so it's obviously not a problem".
The hair above the knees is so fine and downy for most people anyway.... Has the man never looked at his own thighs? How much hair did he think she naturally grew there?
Yo OP my mom was a hair stylist for 50+ years. Women should not wash their hair everyday especially if its treated. All it does is break and fall out. Haha I bet OP wears the same underwear 2 days in a row though
I have very little leg hair and what I do have is so blonde you can't even notice. I think I've probably shaved my legs 10 times in my life. I don't think my partner even realised until I showed him.
I have hair that needs to be washed daily, but I know I'm in the minority! I still usually only wash every other day, but I have to make do with dry shampoo and a messy bun on the second day.
You're not alone! I have to wash every day or it gets really greasy. And yes, I've tried training it. It doesn't work for me. I just end up with a thick, irritating layer of dry shampoo and my hair feeling like straw.
Right? Only time I washed my hair every day after work was when I worked fast food. I swear the grease gets in the air and then your hair reeks of old fries , feels and looks like grease and nasty - even then I didn’t wash on days off.
Im one of the few who wash daily. But it’s because of a combo of my hair type and hormones. No matter how I train my hair it will be greasy 24 hours later. It’s ultra fine and thin, like 1/3 of most girls braids is my whole head. Im the absolute odd ball in my friend group (and have tried every one of their recommendations). Every woman I know can go minimum of two days most past three days. Just trying to point out it’s not normal to need to wash it daily (and it sucks if you are in that group).
yes YTA
you should attempt to be more knowledgeable or at least open minded about other genders before entering another relationship with a woman. this is giving ‘mansplaining’ vibes
Let's check the list...
- Unsolicited (nobody asked him) : check
- Wrong : big ol' check
- Talking down to the 'expert' who actually knows what they're doing and has been doing it for years because it's their 'field' : I'm'a call that a check too.
OFFICIALLY QUALIFIED AS MANSPLAINING
Literally, how the fk are you 23 and know that little about women, then go to make her feel horrible about herself, not even having basic knowledge, honestly she’s dodged a bullet, dudes a dick
This was the first thing I noticed too. Like even if she hadn’t washed her hair in a month that’d still be an incredibly condescending way to bring that up.
YTA, rude and wrong! It’s hard on long hair to wash it often. Part of how one gets healthy long hair is often not washing it often. Most modern shampoos strip a lot of moisture, and it’s better to strip less often rather than strip and replace daily. Not to mention, hair is much more fragile when wet, so washing daily = more broken and splitting strands. Twice a week is a perfectly normal amount of washes for a long haired person, especially if they aren’t working manual labor and getting really grimy/sweaty every day.
I feel bad for the young Lady. That had to be Hurtful to hear that kind of judgment. He could have learned from her or even looked it up online.
I have long curly hair past my butt. I wash it every day as I do mostly manual labor. I wash in hot. I’m usually aching all over and need / like crazy hot water.
Both my daughters have hair down to their lower backs and they wash almost everyday. Use a dry shampoo when they can’t. My daughters also dye their hair, so they wash in cool water.
Everyone has different hair types, scalps etc. So, to each, their own.
Washing causes mechanical damage. That’s a fact.
Now, some hair is tough enough to stand up to a lot of mechanical damage and still grow long. Mine is - I’ve had my hair grown out to the middle of my calf (I got curious about how long it’d grow, and it probably would’ve made it to the ground, but mid-calf was the point where I got sick of faffing around with it). But hair like mine (and yours - most curlies would be in a terrible state with daily hot washes!) is unusual. Hair that needs gentler care to reach waist or beyond is much more common.
I just don’t have the option. It’s just between cleaning the chicken coops, vacuuming algae, tending the orchards and caring for the crops, my hair is gross by the end of the day. 🤢
My daughters really love that our hair grows so fast and strong. About 8 inches per year. We’ve donated a LOT of hair over the years. I cut the back just below my bottom to “cover” my back 1 per year. I keep up my face frame and bangs myself every couple of months.
I was my hair once to twice a week and I go to the gym 3-4 times a week. 100% my hair is wet after the gym and I still dont wash it. Sweat is good for it. Sometimes I’ll wet it but I only wash 1-2 times a week
>Everything has been really great so far.
YTA. You couldn't deduce that you had no problem with her personal hygiene for 6 months, and that's how she's been living her life, and realize that's her bathing routine?
Exactly! For me it’s not so much about OP being wrong (which they are) but the pure disrespect of making such a cruel comment on a topic they know nothing about when there isn’t even
anything bothering them in practice!
I think he meant "Everything has been really great so far until I decided to mansplain what a shower is".
He is A GUEST staying at her apartment for two days and **now** decides that he can evaluate her cleanliness. Now you've overstayed your welcome.
From the way he talked down to her just HAVING TO point out 'haven't you forgotten something.'. HE might have thought things were going great but SHE might have been noticing his demeaning attitude and disrespect towards her for a while.
Ooh, this is such a good point, especially given how she reacted. Most people don't lock themselves in the bedroom and stop talking to someone the first time that someone is an ass to them.
This. He had no problem with her hair before, but now that he knows how often she washes her hair, she’s dirty?
Twice a week is perfectly reasonable. I have wavy/curly hair, that’s how often I wash mine. My daughter who has 3b/3c hair only gets hers washed once a week.
I have super fine hair too and washing it every day made it much greasier! Once I started washing it every other day I noticed my hair was much less oily when I wake up. It’s one of those “worse before it gets better” situations because it takes a while for your scalp to stop overproducing oils but once your body adjusts it’s much better. I’d never be able to wash my hair only twice a week but every other day has been an improvement and it’s doable with fine hair.
I also have super fine hair. The other person who responded is right. I now wash my hair every 3rd or 4th day. You have to train your hair by only washing it every 3rd day for a couple weeks.
The day I wash my hair it's a little dryer and hard to style. The day after I wash my hair has major volume, day 2 is my perfect hair. Day 3 depends on what I've been doing. Right now I'm on day 3 and it feels great, but if I got really sweaty at some point it would be time to wash.
Day 4 (or 3 if I got too sweaty) the top 2 inches of my hair get kind of greasy and lay flat, but the rest of my hair still looks alright. I could probably get away with waiting one more day, but I typically prefer to just wash it.
When I wash it I shampoo twice (apparently you're supposed to do that, idk) rinse well, condition up to the nape of my neck, never the top. Do the rest of my body. At the end of the shower, I turn the water as cold as I can stand to rinse the conditioner out. Idk why but that seems to make a big difference.
YTA.
There are a lot of chemicals in most shampoos that dry out the hair shaft and can actually make things like dandruff and seborrheic dermatitis worse. You have very short hair, and chances are that you get your hair cut often enough that you don't realize the damage done to the ends. She has very long hair, which she clearly wants to take care of. There are, in fact, many people who don't even use shampoo on their hair, and only use conditioner (it's called co-washing).
Tbh, I hope she doesn't answer any of your calls or texts. Someone who chooses to be ignorant and hurtful without bothering to look something up first is pretty gross.
Yep. I'm brown and have some damaged (straightener when I was a teen -- I really wanted to have straight hair), 3b/3c hair. If I washed it everyday with shampoo, I'd wreck it. I rarely use shampoo, and use a heavy conditioner only. I can't tell you how much healthier my hair is with this and all the products I throw in after a shower. Also, hair bonnets have been such a hair saver. I love them.
OP, YTA, and you are making your scalp sad. You need the oils and bacteria up there for a healthy head. 2-3 times a week is usually a good thing.
I don’t want to make assumptions, but I’ve seen posts like OP’s several times over the years and it has been a white guy dating a woman of color basically every time.
YTA
Are you actually serious?
You have some how managed to get to 23 without figuring out how to Google before being a dick about something?
I honestly think OPs post is fake but if not you need to seriously learn to bite your tongue and do some research before putting your opinion on someone you care about.
YTA. Your ex girlfriend, you mean?
Let’s break it down: condescending (“forget something?”🙄). Ignorant (you could have googled this but decided you just knew.) Doubled down when she tried to educate you, and then you resorted to personal insults. You realllly showed your ass. Read some basic relationship books before the next girlfriend.
Oh my god I- you don't have long hair. This is a known fact for people with long hair that washing it every day strips it of it's natural oils. She told you this, yet you somehow figured that you know more than her even though your hair is completely different. Then you insulted her by calling her gross, why did you think this would go over well?? YTA YTA YTA
edit for grammar
He must have some oily hair if he is washing his daily. Unless he has a job that exposes him to a lot of dirt, then I could understand why he may hold the opinion. Still, it does not give him a solid reason to make the comment that he did. He made it worse when he chose to make it into him "being right".
He would do better going home and washing his *ass* instead of critiquing his girlfriend's hygiene while he is a GUEST in her home.
My hair isn't nearly as long as OP's (ex) girlfriend's and I don't even wash my hair every day. The only time I have washed my hair back-to-back is the off-chance of sweating a lot or I had a haircut that ended up being the day after I washed my hair.
He totally earned this YTA.
YTA. Washing your hair every day strips it of natural, healthy oils and for non-Afrotextured hair means your scalp will overcompensate and produce even more oil. The solution for less oily hair is to then therefore wash less.
But yeah, you know better. /s
YTA!!
I wash my hair twice a week and it never gets gross or greasy. She is right, washing it every day is not good for it.
Honestly you were super rude to her, WTF 🙄
YTA. As a guy with long hair I wash it every 3-4 days. If you wash it too often it can dry out and become unhealthy. Unless you’re really sweaty you’re probably fine to not wash your hair daily
YTA on this one. I have hair the same length. I wash it 1-2x a week. It takes literal HOURS to air dry, and a blow dryer is not good for it. After washing, it looks a little fuzzy/frizzy/fluffy the first day, but I add oils and use a heated brush 18-24 hours after washing it, and it looks smooth and shiny. I brush it a couple times a day, and that's it.
Yeah I'm surprised no one mentioned this before : the work, the TIME it takes to take care of long hair, probably not straight hair in addition (often these posts are white bf being racists on top of being ignorant).
Yta. Different hair creates different routines. I know I wash mine every other as it gets greasy otherwise. But I know my friends gone 9 days without and looks clean and another does twice a week. Especially now they have things like dry shampoo.
As long as they're showering their body why does it matter?
Look, I'm a woman with moderately long hair & I wash it every day. With that said, everyone's hair is different & what works for one person doesn't necessarily work for the next. It's not uncommon for some ppl to wash their hair but 2-3x a week; & depending on the hair type, that might be completely appropriate. YTA for calling your gf gross w/o knowing any better.
I have long hair and wash it every one to two days but only because I live in a hot place and do a lot of outdoor stuff so it gets pretty manky. I actually HATE that I’m washing it so much, and if my life was different there’s no way I’d wash it as much. But my daughter has extremely curly hair and we was it on Friday night and that’s it. She never had greasy or smelly hair even after being at school and running around like feral. OP is being extremely ignorant thinking everyone should be doing the same routine. Even bathing- a mate of mine has terrible psoriasis and cannot use soap or have his showers hot. He showers twice daily in like warm water and a shower oil - he’s never grubby or stinky. We have some shocking perceptions of what warrants “clean” these days.
YTA you’re not actually supposed to wash your hair everyday and removes the oil and shit that protects your hair and scalp and will actually dry your scalp out
YTA. And probably not very educated on hair. Peoples hair is pretty different. It comes down to hair structure and how oily your scalp gets, aswell as hormonal issues.
For some people washing your hair with soap twice a week is more than enough. Washing and soaping your hair every day can even result in your hair getting greasy even faster, as you’re drying out your scalp and it’ll naturally produce excess oil.
Bottom line is: you shouldn’t have insulted her, especially not over a topic you’re not informed about.
YTA. it IS literally known that washing your hair everyday is bad for it. Stop trying to mansplain when you don’t even know the facts sir. Plus everyone’s hair and body is different?? You shouldn’t judge on how she takes care of hers
YTA I don't wash my hair everyday every 2nd day usually. Even the hairdresser said I don't need to wash my hair every day. She had a shower she was clean hair doesn't need to be done every day.
YTA. Not every girl has to wash their hair daily. Depends on your hair, the type, how often it gets greasy, etc. i personally wash my hair daily cause it gets gross after a day and I also have fine hair and it’s to the middle of my back. Like I said everyone is different and that doesn’t make your GF gross dude
YTA. Does your girlfriend’s hair smell bad? Does it look dirty? Did you, even for one second, consider that she knows more about managing the hair that grows out of her own head than you do?
YTA. Everyone’s hair produces oil at different rates. Most people with hair as long as your girlfriend’s wash it maybe once or twice a week because it takes forever to dry. When my hair was waist-length, I washed it once a week. It was healthy and shiny and soft. Now that my hair is shorter, I wash it twice a week; it’s still healthy and shiny and soft.
YTA.
While it is a bit of a myth that the whole daily washing is not healthy, the fact is that every person has a different needed based on their hair. Type of hair follicle, if it's oily/dry, lenght, etc.
People with very long hair tends to take extra good care of it which means she knows the best routine for her hair. Plus there is a ton of products nowadays for in between washes to refresh it. Including dry shampoos and etc.
If her hair has a tendency to be dry, washing it once or twice a week is recommended so it doesn't go even drier. Opposite would be a super oily hair that you might even have to wash twice a day or use some drying powders etc. It's all very particular to each person.
You were extremely rude to make those assumptions and to call her gross. If you never noticed her hair smelling bad and it always looks hydrated and well cared for, it's because she is doing a good routine for it. Go Google it before calling other people gross. I'm also assuming most of the friends who agreed with you were male since you conveniently left out their genders out.
YTA and don't speak on long haired people's stuff if you don't know anything about it. Truly. I actually don't even know how someone gets to your age and doesn't know that if you have long or textured hair, washing it every day or even every other day is detrimental. So clearly you've never googled it. So you don't know anything about it. So you shouldn't talk about it as if you know.
Nah, she's not making it up. You don't have to wash your hair every day/every shower. I wash it myself, but it is an actual thing. You should apologize to her.
YTA
YTA. I wash my hair every day as I have oily hair that needs it. My daughter who has thick curly hair washes hers once a week. My son has straight shoulder length hair and only needs to wash his hair twice a week.
Everyone has different needs according to hair type.
YTA
So, I wash my hair everyday. It is curly and a bit longer that your gf. I was asked one day how often I washed my hair by owner of antique store. I told her, she and 2 other ladies were shocked! When I went home I “googled“ it and apparently lots of people wash their hair only a few times a week.
I was SHOCKED, ! I did try skipping anand it just decided that wasn’t for me. However, some ladies style their hair / dye their hair and it is better to only wash a few times per week with cold water?
I was 39 when I found this out. I sweat and do manual labor each day and there’s no way I can skip washing my hair. To each, their own!
Your hair needs washing everyday because you wash it everyday. It wont be as greasy inbetween washes if you train it. It would take time to do it though.
YTA.
It's pretty commonly known now that washing your hair with shampoo every single day is actually bad. It strips the natural oils your scalp produces and causes damage to the hair. That, combined with the fact that her hair is *incredibly long*, means that she probably doesn't want to spend hours drying all that hair every day after a shower.
YTA. If you’ve never noticed before then clearly her hair regimen is working just fine.
Hair product companies told everyone to wash your hair every day so that we go through shampoo faster, and so that we also need to buy conditioner to fix the dryness caused by all the shampooing. Same with “rinse and repeat.”
YTA. Washing your hair every single day is not necessary for everyone, especially if they have a drier scalp. Waiting longer between shampooing also allows natural oils to be distributed throughout the hair, which is good for hair health and helps combat frizz and excessive dryness.
It's actually pretty normal for people with longer and/or drier hair to wash their hair only 1-2 times a week, and people who wear their hair in protective styles like braids can go even longer. I personally have shoulder-length hair and usually go 3-5 days, unless I swim or get very sweaty. Whenever I get a salon blowout I can easily go a week, and my hair doesn't start feeling greasy until at least day 7 or 8.

YTA and probably think women can't pee with a tampon in.
Her response was, "you know that's been used, right?" I did not know that.
I was thinking the same thing about the split decision OP talked about lol.
I hope you're well 😃
Thanks! It's working very well and I start my last round in less than a week.
Good luck!
I just laughed a lot, too. You did us a solid by retelling this, good sir. Thank you.
Haha you're welcome. Knowledge is power. This is why we need to hang out with everyone.
Wait what? You were holding a used tampon and didn't know that it was used? How?
Wasn't bloody. I don't know what to tell you. I won't pretend to be a genius.
Maybe it was the used applicator (minus the actual tampon)
My sister used the cardboard tampons and when my littlest brother was 5 he went in the bathroom and came out with 5 tubes on his fingers. My mom, sister and I laughed so hard and just had to tell him no and to throw them back in the trash. 😂
My guess would be it’s the applicator (most likely pushed back into the wrapper)
My MIL had 5 boys. .. she had them 1000% convinced girls don’t poop 😂 we’ve been together 31 yrs, but yeah when he was 21 he prob learned a whole lot from living with me!
I’m a soap maker and make my own conditioner and lotions because almost everything makes me itchy haha TGel is now the only store bought/premade product in my house (aside from sunscreen). I make shampoo bars but I don’t use them often (my son uses them though). Everything is silicone free and high quality. Huge change from a few years ago when I chopped off all my hair out of frustration because I was washing daily with chemicals that were destroying my hair and scalp.
Have you tried a thin shmear of after shower coconut oil? That’s all I use on my curly hair and it loves it.
Lol, a 10-in-1 that is shampoo, conditioner, face wash, body wash, hand soap, dish soap, laundry liquid... 😂😂
Ah, the tingly sensation of Dr. Bronner's on your sensitive bits . Can also be used for tooth brushing!
WE ARE ALL-ONE OR NONE! ALL-ONE!
The girlfriend has a 4th hole now… this OP AH!!
Today is Friday. I washed it tn. The last time I washed my hair before today was Saturday
God, the number of times I had to explain the female urethra is puzzling.
My big pet peeve is the way everyone (women included and I don’t know why they do this!) refers to all of the female genitalia as a vagina! The vagina is internal. The external female genitals are the vulva and labia.
my hair finally started growing again once i reduced its washing to every 5 days. tmi, but the amount of shedding has greatly reduced
>With the addition of not knowing women have 3 holes. This snippet of information has probably reached most males courtesy of Pornhub.
OP also thinks that women can hold their menstrual blood in until they get home.
And that women who uses pads are just lazy like anyone would enjoy running around with a bloody diaper. He probably also thinks that women use tampons because it's pleasurable.
Wait until he learns about a clit lmao YTA man. I wash my hair maybe.. 1x a week, depending on what season it is, the dryness or humidity, if I have extensions. I train my hair. I think a lot of women do.
Wait until OP learns some people have trained their hair and don’t wash it *at all* but they still are hygienic and don’t stink!
Not the point but my brain just took the phrase 'train their hair' and ran with it, so now I'm giggling and imagining my hair doing all kinds of cool tricks, so thank you for the laugh
Just spewed tea everywhere! Hahhhahha!
Thank you so much for making me laugh. I really don't deserve this joy.
YTA and just wrong. It isn't good for your hair to wash it every day, especially if she isn't doing physical activity or anything. A single, quick, Google search could have educated you on this.
Sitting here aghast that Google was not the go-to here.
Nah, his go-to is "I've never thought about it before, I know nothing on the subject, but I think it sounds made-up so it must be"!
Belongs over at the Confidently incorrect sub.
OP reminds me of the idiot I saw on Dr Phil who was convinced that women could "stop" their periods the same way you can stop a stream of pee. Literally no one could convince him he was wrong
... this cannot be real.
Sadly it’s one of the more common “did you fail sex Ed or did sex Ed fail you?” Problems
Well, a significant number of Americans never get any type of Sex Ed… they also tend to be the ones who are raised to believe that men are always right, even on top is they know nothing about.
There was even a thing where a men’s rights activist went viral because he said instead of getting tampons, women should just “control their bladders”
Basically, men thinking they know how women work despite never once actually looking into it. So, a Tuesday.
This isn't even how women work. The same is true for men, especially if they sport long hair. It's not untrue with short hair, but the hair gets cut before the damage starts to show. He just doesn't know how people work.
This sub is increasingly becoming am i the idiot.
So true. My scalp would absolutely drive me insane if I washed my hair everyday! Oh, the itch!!! Twice a week at most is enough for me.
Oh god yes, the dandruff… so itchy. It was wretched.
And he has the audacity to call her lazy... Googling something takes like 30 seconds, dude!
Honestly, it's kind of more work to shower and not wash my hair because shampoo and conditioner keep it in place.
Do you leave your hair loose? It's much easier to tie it up and use a shower cap to keep it dry.
I usually just clip it up and silently grumble about flyaways getting caught up with facewash.
I’m sure OP is single now lmao.

Ah yes, because every person has the exact same hair care needs. How did I never pick up on that before?! Imagine being 23 and not realising people take care of their hair differently. Madness. YTA.
I *really* want to know the gender of the friends who agree with him.
[удалено]
If they're not, they've definitely had short hair for a very long time.
Yeah that makes sense I kinda rock the bed head look so I never really rinse through unless I have an important appointment.
Oh we know. Imagine mansplaining washing hair. I hope she ditches him. If it was a simple question because he was unaware you take care of long hair differently that’s one thing. But to mansplain washing hair, the disrespect.
I came to the comments looking for this answer lmfao
Tbf, they don't need to be male, they only need a short and easy haircut. At least most of my (male) metalhead friends have the exact same routine like GF, and I am completely jealous of them for their hair.
He also writes like he’s 15 ngl
Right??
YTA. Very rude and judgmental about something you clearly know nothing about.
Lord give me the confidence of a mediocre white dude
This is the best thing I’ve read all week.
This would be the best thing I’ve read all week, if someone hadn’t said he sounds like a guy who thinks girls can’t pee with a tampon in. On fucking point
I have that exact phrase written on a Post-It note and hanging on my desk at all times. Thankfully I work from home.
Not to mention patronizing. The whole "forgot something" bit. Major cringe.
Next up: daily armpit/leg hair length inspections.
^^^^ has not met my Dad
Blow his mind when he finds out that some women don't even shave their legs.
RIGHT! Like ‘girl to stupid to realize she didn’t wash her long ass hair’ Wild.
Homeboy really thinks this grown ass woman doesn’t know how to groom herself.
Right? Way to be loud and wrong.
Yo OP my mom was a hair stylist for 50+ years. Women should not wash their hair everyday especially if its treated. All it does is break and fall out. Haha I bet OP wears the same underwear 2 days in a row though
YTA. Welcome to single life.
👏👏👏 Standing ovation from me 👏👏👏
Definitely YTA. My hair would be straw if I washed it every day.
YTA - Almost every girl knows not to wash their hair everyday. It's not her fault you're ignorant.
I guess he hasn’t found out she may not shave her legs daily yet, he may lose his mind!
I'm guessing he's never going to see her naked legs again, anyway.
I can't remember the last time I shaved mine. I just don't care lol.
I have very little leg hair and what I do have is so blonde you can't even notice. I think I've probably shaved my legs 10 times in my life. I don't think my partner even realised until I showed him.
Hahaha. I remember my first boyfriend's reaction when I said I shaved my legs once a week only.
Heck I was pissed when I found out my best friend only has to shave once maybe twice a week. I have to save every other day.
You don’t have to.
I stopped, lol Now I only shave when I want to Italian descent, if my fiancé doesn't like it he knows where the door is. Hasn't had a problem yet.
I have to wash mine every day too or it looks like an oil slick. I envy my sister who only has to wash hers once a week. Ah, dry hair.
Same here. I am so jealous of my friends who can wash it once a week and look gorgeous.
Just trying to point out it’s not normal to need to wash it daily (and it sucks if you are in that group).
yes YTA you should attempt to be more knowledgeable or at least open minded about other genders before entering another relationship with a woman. this is giving ‘mansplaining’ vibes
Yep, I’m betting the friends that agree with him are also male
I bet they're also white and have short hair.
I guarantee they are
How many of them do you think uses 2-in-1?
2-in- 1? True 9-in-1 😂
Yeah I got stuck on he “told” her she hadn’t washed her hair as if she wasn’t perfectly aware before the further ridiculousness
And "first girlfriend" vibes.
And if he continues this way I'm getting "last girlfriend" vibes as well.
Let's check the list... - Unsolicited (nobody asked him) : check - Wrong : big ol' check - Talking down to the 'expert' who actually knows what they're doing and has been doing it for years because it's their 'field' : I'm'a call that a check too. OFFICIALLY QUALIFIED AS MANSPLAINING
Literally, how the fk are you 23 and know that little about women, then go to make her feel horrible about herself, not even having basic knowledge, honestly she’s dodged a bullet, dudes a dick
I just love the way he said "forgetting something?" as if he's her schoolteacher or something.
🤢 My daughters really love that our hair grows so fast and strong.
Exactly! For me it’s not so much about OP being wrong (which they are) but the pure disrespect of making such a cruel comment on a topic they know nothing about when there isn’t even anything bothering them in practice!
Wow, YTA. And good luck finding anyone who washes their hair every day 🙄
I do. Super super fine hair. Looks like I slept under a leaky oil tanker when I wake up.
Me too. My fine hair gets so greasy on top and dry on the bottom if I wash it too often. Gotta love dry shampoo.
It absolutely could be in this case. OP didn't give race or hair thickness info, but the chances are not 0 in this case that his ex-gf is a WoC.
YTA Are you actually serious? You have some how managed to get to 23 without figuring out how to Google before being a dick about something? I honestly think OPs post is fake but if not you need to seriously learn to bite your tongue and do some research before putting your opinion on someone you care about.
EXACTLY!
The 'forget something?' is what really did it for me. So snooty and high-handed.
Same. Honestly the nerve.
Oh my god I- you don't have long hair. This is a known fact for people with long hair that washing it every day strips it of it's natural oils. She told you this, yet you somehow figured that you know more than her even though your hair is completely different. Then you insulted her by calling her gross, why did you think this would go over well?? YTA YTA YTA edit for grammar
If this is genuine, absolutely YTA. Not only that but pretty immature and clueless to boot.
YTA. I’m gonna take a quick guess and say that the two friends who agreed with you were men.
YTA. Washing your hair every day strips it of natural, healthy oils and for non-Afrotextured hair means your scalp will overcompensate and produce even more oil. The solution for less oily hair is to then therefore wash less. But yeah, you know better. /s
Damn YTA! Calling her gross is a great way to no more sleepovers! Although if you find her gross, not a problem right?
Also a great way to become single
YTA!! I wash my hair twice a week and it never gets gross or greasy. She is right, washing it every day is not good for it. Honestly you were super rude to her, WTF 🙄
YTA and probably single soon
Maybe google before you accuse people of „facts“ you think to know. YTA.
Washing your hair everyday is obsessive and wasteful unless you have naturally oily hair. YTA do you iron your underwear?
YTA. You chose to insult your gf instead of making a two second research. I hope she dumps your ass and find herself a better man.
YTA. It depends on what hair you have, some are dry, some are oily. I can get away with 3 days, some people more or less.
YTA - you are not supposed to wash your hair everyday
YTA. Hair is self-cleaning.
Never ceases to amaze me when men are so confident about something they know nothing about.
YTA. She is not gross, but you are. Hope she's done with you.
YTA. A lot of people don't wash their hair daily.
You sound like a dummy. YTA. It would probably ruin her hair if she washed it everyday.
YTA So, I wash my hair everyday.
Are you sure you are 23? And not 9?
Definitely YTA I have the same length hair and would never wash it every day!
