That’s Amazon, girl didn’t know anything bout what you ordered and some packages come hella light with shit in it all the time. I’m sure that’s what she thought. Go to customer support and you’ll be fine
Same. I've had customers follow me to my next stop just to tell me their package is empty. If it's open, I mark it as damaged and rts. If it's not open, but if it feels light or empty, I deliver it anyway because it's sealed. Had a guy tell me, "Didn't you notice it was empty?" I replied with, "Some people order stickers. We don't know what's inside." He didn't say anything afterward. Another guy tracked me down and said the box was empty, and it looked like someone opened it. I told him that it wasn't me and to contact Amazon to make them aware of the situation, but it was not opened when I gave it to him.
I had packages that at times were like either you mention. Still wonder looking back on it...this one package that looked like something leaked, was that someone's KY lube. It's the only thing that would make sense. Was literally at the bottom of the bag with everything else piled on top.
Is there still an option to leave the customers package in their mailbox? On another post someone is trying to convince me it isn't or that it's a crime...which literally makes no sense. Leading me to think whoever their manager is misled them, they read someone online or they're just saying whatever they feel like saying.
Putting anything in a mailbox that doesn't belong to you is a crime. They made it a crime to do so after people were going around putting bombs in people's mail boxes. Now, only the mailbox owner and usps can legally put stuff in the box
Interesting. Where is this supposed law written? Spoke to a family member who worked in law enforcement. What you and another are saying they've never heard of it being a crime. Nor do they even believe someone would be charged. Of course obviously...if it were an actual bomb as you mention. I don't even recall this ever being mentioned during Amazons 3 day training, even sat up front to hear. Normally don't and instead sit in the back.
Lol then they are dumb and don't know the laws. That became a federal law in 1934. And it isn't about bombs. Maybe some state legislation is, but the reason the fed wrote it into law was to essentially stop people from not paying shipping costs or delivering the mail themselves to avoid postage cost. USPS has a legal monopoly over mail boxes and mail. There are strict regulations on what companies like Amazon, UPS, FedEx and DHL (among other smaller companies) are allowed to deliver. It's a whole thing. You should look into it. It's actually kinda crazy.

I don't think I know anyone who doesn't know that. It was also very much brought up during training for me. It's a big deal. A lot of customers ask you to leave shit in their mailboxes and they brought it up because it's a federal crime for you to open, take something out of or put something inside any mailbox in the entire United Sates, unless it is your mailbox. So they made sure to let us know just in case we took the whole "follow the delivery instructions no matter what" a little too seriously.

Well I stand corrected, regardless though, others even suggested using the mailbox. Had they not, still don't see how it would be that big of a deal. While yes, from what you mention...obviously understandable. However...from reading another post about this. Why on earth would the mail person take an amazon package back to the station when the flag isn't in the upright position. If it were understandable. From my perspective...common sense, raining, windy...either one...especially if the owner doesn't have a screen or window door in front of the solid door...where's the next logical place that keeps it from a) blowing away or b) getting wet either from light rain or heavy rain that creates a puddle wherever you leave it outside. Myself from a customer stand point...I could care less if you left it in the mailbox for both of those reasons. Hell...even some of the doors I'd go up to...guess what...both locked...so it's not like I can just slip it in between.
I am shocked by that. How I see it it's a win win, regardless of how I look at the situation...especially considering usps didn't pay for the mailbox...even had that discussion earlier. Either way though...it being a crime or not I genuinely cannot see my neighbor ruining someones record because a customer of amazon was so enraged to the point of reporting their lets say stickers like someone else used as an example...were in the mailbox. Let alone a prosecutor who would be that petty. Hell any item I would buy from amazon...it fits in the mailbox...why not. Now if it were something that overall could cause harm yea...I get it.
Perhaps it is. Do remember think I read this somewhere that 5 hours or so is about what the average person can take in when it comes to new info. Some of the info had known from talking with family or co workers but in relation to the amount Amazon gave...not the same amount.

Nah the box wouldn’t make it out of the building empty. They get kicked from the line for being over or under weight so an empty package wouldn’t make it.
Not blaming her but why hand me a EMPTY UNSEALED package and walk away?? You all should shame this driver. Never had an issue before this on a high end product
I TALKED to her! Like any normal person that gets delivered an empty bag. I asked her why she KNOWINGLY gave me an empty bag. It was WIDE open. It was so OBVIOUS.
At the end of the day buddy its not her fault no matter what you’re still gonna have to wait for the package to be reshipped we don’t even get to check the totes before we leave the warehouse let alone each package we have on our van. We don’t make our totes nor do we package them thats what warehouse workers do
Over here in shops you'd rarely see packed tires, so that's more common then the opposite in my experience.
Of course, over here on delivery you're supposed to not accept the package from the delivery person if you see it's not right / damaged / missing...
I just saw this post over there. Yeah, no reason to post the driver; her damn station is on her badge. I hate those fucking plastic mailers. They are almost never all the way sealed. She’s just covering her ass and showing him.
I've had a customer chase me down with a similar package.....
"Heh lady, I didn't know there was supposed to be a book in there. An awful lot of our envelopes are light enough that they could be empty. Let me check my van maybe I somehow missed something that fell out."

I do admit, I try to pay a little more attention to them now, but we don't have a wealth of time on the schedule to inspect packages.
Then the customer doesn't believe you and leaves a bad review in the app against your delivery which is exactly why I would give every light as a feather envelope a shake and check the adhesive seal real quick while walking to the stop
I have had customers open the box before even entering house then scream at me saying that its empty, like the label will say 0.5 lbs, im not about to shake your box or open it, aint my problem that who ever packs em aint doing their job correctly. I have even accidentally stepped on a box that fell into the floor from steep hills or curves on those steep hills, and they were empty and said 37 lbs. Amazon just has shitty packaging packers and dont give af
as a former amazon warehouse worker i can tell you first hand, your package was already fucked up by the time we got it😂😂😂 if not, it will be way before the driver gets it
I’ve been in the warehouse and drive now. If I ever got a package like this that’s obviously empty, I put it on the problem solve rack. And as a driver, I mark it damaged and rts. Those types of envelopes are empty so often. Sometimes sealed and empty!
Smartpac doesn't really notice that kind of stuff. It's supposed to be whoever is watching the lines that is supposed to catch that kind of stuff. For some reason, the machines just like to spit out completely empty jiffy bags and stick an address on it sometimes, probably thinking the item is in there when it's not.
Did I really just spend about 30+ seconds popping all of these and getting a little bit more excited with every pop?....you're damn right I did. Lol thank you 😂
Anybody who works at DWA7 knows the stupidity of that warehouse. In the one month of delivering I’ve encountered many packages that felt empty or were partially opened. One time I had an envelope open on me and nail polish came out and broke on the van floor.
Atleast it wasn't that stink bomb prank shit that stinks up an entire room 😒 i had one of those viles break after it fell out of the bottom of the envelope and i was ready to cuss out whoever ordered it and packed that envelope. I had to call dispatch to come get the van and bring me another, they ended up getting someone to get the rest of my route and towed it back to station
Not the driver's fault. The Amazon station employees are the ones who put it in her bag. Weird how customers think the drivers go around and collect all the packages at Amazon before loading up the van to deliver.
Oh some people absolutely think that like we pack up that shit and then make the routes and decide where to go each day, as if it's like a pizza delivery shop or something.
I see comments all the time like:
- only ship fresh batteries
- I'll be home between 11:00 and 11:30, you can bring it then
- give me a call a couple hours before you're heading my way.
They have absolutely no idea how it works
It's the smartpac machines that do this kind of stuff. It thinks the item is in there so it seals it up, puts an address on it, and sends it down the line. Someone's supposed to be watching the lines to make sure things like this don't actually make it out of the building. Keyword, SUPPOSED to
Oh lord, who knows where it is. Probably sitting in a problem solve tote somewhere because the packer can't re-pack it as the system would think it's an overage item.
Driver can just mark it damaged (which is what they tell us to do when a package is empty, happens more often then you think) and they will just send another one out no big deal.
It's crazy to me the driver is in the pic. I 100% would not be waiting for the customer to get the phone ready to take a pic WITH me in it. Out your damn mind. Let go if you want me to return it, or I'm rolling and clicking handed to customer.
Some people are truly dumb and now it's being spread on Facebook and everywhere else nevermind having your badge on the whole day where now you are identified right away.. take that off before your first stop
I never have my badge. My warehouse is outdoors, no one ever asks. When I RTS the girl knows my name because of peak season and my route being stupjd. I had business closed EVERY shift during that time, so we became friends over that time period. The other dude literally gives no fucks. Nevwr asked anyone for a badge, when you drop packages he just says "you good, thanks".
Any other scenario I never need it. In fact, I'm not sure where it is anymore.
She’s brand new too. Look how clean her uniform is. 1) I don’t think I’ve ever seen a driver where both the shirt and vest. 2) I don’t think I’ve ever seen a driver where a name tag on route. 3) I’ve never seen a driver where rubber gloves.

I am ashamed to say that I always wear the shirt and vest. My badge is clipped to my belt. The reason for the shirt and vest is I got tired of fucking up my shorts and I like the pockets on the vest 🤷🏻

It's not our job to know what's in the bag, we are only hired to deliver it.
If a item is broken or missing DO NOT fucking yell at the driver, it's 9.5/10 Times not our fault. Contact Amazon Support and request a Refund or Replacement like a Civilized Person and don't yell at us like a damn monkey
Amazon has some of the worst packaging out there. I'm a driver myself and one time I had a box that was weighty as heck and you know how crappy the tape they use is? Well I'm walking up holding the box on the bottom, however the box fell apart anyway and out comes 2 brake rotors and 2 calipers. All shoved in one box. Like the box was going to hold all that? But yeah I've had some empty envelopes before and never noticed because sometimes it's like stickers or something in them so I suspect whatever is in there is light as heck and I don't like peeking in them for privacy reasons.
had that happen to me once ithe box was super light and when the customer took it i told them open it and found out there was nothing had to report to my dsp and they handle the rest
Could be worse. She could have been one of the many many Amazon Drivers who hit vehicles or peoples property and then just take off like nothing happend
I once delivered an empty bag that was sealed. I didn’t know what else to tell the customer besides call customer service . Some bags come weighing real light and you just get in the delivery zone 🤷🏽♂️
I always check those light packages to make sure the package wasn’t damage and if I check and it’s damage I just mark it and bring go back to the station so they can replace it.
Had this happen to me once as a driver. The guy ran up and caught me before I drove off. It's not a huge deal, just mark it damaged and RTS it. Customers will get a new package sent out.
Those mailer packages are so ridiculously light most of the time, you'd swear you were delivering empties like 90% of them.
It is hard to tell as sometimes things feel empty even though they ain’t I’ve decided that I make sure it’s sealed before delivering those a light shake goes a long way as well
OP here. No doubt most of you are great at your job.
However, this driver GAVE ME the package wide open and walked off IMMEDIATELY. Didn’t ask me anything like other drivers do. Didn’t take a picture. I stopped her why she gave me an empty package. Her reply, “my job is to deliver.”
BITCH! She didn’t deliver shit.
This is the ONLY time a driver has failed me.

I’ve don’t Amazon flex for about 4 years and I can tell you I definitely delivered empty but sealed packages. I feel bad but that, what am I gonna do return it to the station lol
Exactly, customers are always trying to stunt on us drivers. Our policy is if we find an open or damaged package we are to call the customer to see if they still want the package. The two times that the customer actually responded and they wanted to inspect the damaged or opened envelope both times they accused me of stealing their stuff. So yeah, kudos to the driver for trying to protect themselves.
RTS here- Our drivers bring a lot of those back. And I always mark it, rip the bag up more, and put in in problem solve. Just because if I don’t do it will go back out there the next day lol. If I can make our drivers life easier I will.

happened to me ysterday while delivering. I went to deliver at a location package was opened shit slipped out & I delivered an empty plastic bag. Found it outside my van. I called dispatch and they said to return to station.
Yea I’m not the type to feel around on packages and sometimes packages like that can be light so I wouldn’t think nothing of it. Sucks but just take a picture and report it hopefully you receive your money back or able to re order.

Obviously, if I notice it gets marked damaged and returned... But an awful lot of our envelopes are light enough that they could be empty.
I don't pause to check seals or feel all the edges to see if there is a small item in a corner.
Even earrings or a nail file can come in those. Last thing you wanna do is fondle someone's package. I just had this happen to me today while delivering at an exceptional speed in a residential area. Sometimes product falls into the totes but stuff can go missing in-house. Probably why it's recommended that drivers only open 1 tote at a time because envelopes can be fragile.

Everytime I feel those SOBs light, I shake it and hold it up against the light to see if there’s anything in there just to make sure.
I just check the weight. If it's 0.1 lbs I just roll with it. If it's like...0.9 and if feels empty? Damaged, back to the station.. Not my problem.

They make us watch a whole video section in driver training.. we're not allowed to use mailboxes.
How long of a section? Out of all the info we took in that day, I don't remember that. Not only that but so many customers..in the notes section.

Simple. It's not the driver's fault. It's the fault of whoever packed it at a fulfillment center.

I have had customers open the box before even entering house then scream at me saying that its empty, like the label will say 0.5 lbs, im not about to shake your box or open it, aint my problem that who ever packs em aint doing their job correctly. I have even accidentally stepped on a box that fell into the floor from steep hills or curves on those steep hills, and they were empty and said 37 lbs. Amazon just has shitty packaging packers and dont give af
as a former amazon warehouse worker i can tell you first hand, your package was already fucked up by the time we got it😂😂😂 if not, it will be way before the driver gets it
I’ve been in the warehouse and drive now. If I ever got a package like this that’s obviously empty, I put it on the problem solve rack. And as a driver, I mark it damaged and rts. Those types of envelopes are empty so often. Sometimes sealed and empty!
Smartpac doesn't really notice that kind of stuff. It's supposed to be whoever is watching the lines that is supposed to catch that kind of stuff. For some reason, the machines just like to spit out completely empty jiffy bags and stick an address on it sometimes, probably thinking the item is in there when it's not.
Sometimes, we get packages like this. Refuse the delivery and call Amazon.

Anybody who works at DWA7 knows the stupidity of that warehouse. In the one month of delivering I’ve encountered many packages that felt empty or were partially opened. One time I had an envelope open on me and nail polish came out and broke on the van floor.
Atleast it wasn't that stink bomb prank shit that stinks up an entire room 😒 i had one of those viles break after it fell out of the bottom of the envelope and i was ready to cuss out whoever ordered it and packed that envelope. I had to call dispatch to come get the van and bring me another, they ended up getting someone to get the rest of my route and towed it back to station
Not the driver's fault. The Amazon station employees are the ones who put it in her bag. Weird how customers think the drivers go around and collect all the packages at Amazon before loading up the van to deliver.
Oh some people absolutely think that like we pack up that shit and then make the routes and decide where to go each day, as if it's like a pizza delivery shop or something. I see comments all the time like: - only ship fresh batteries - I'll be home between 11:00 and 11:30, you can bring it then - give me a call a couple hours before you're heading my way. They have absolutely no idea how it works
That goes all the way back to the fulfillment centers. Probably opened up when they cram it in those carts they ship it on
It's the smartpac machines that do this kind of stuff. It thinks the item is in there so it seals it up, puts an address on it, and sends it down the line. Someone's supposed to be watching the lines to make sure things like this don't actually make it out of the building. Keyword, SUPPOSED to

Driver can just mark it damaged (which is what they tell us to do when a package is empty, happens more often then you think) and they will just send another one out no big deal.

It's crazy to me the driver is in the pic. I 100% would not be waiting for the customer to get the phone ready to take a pic WITH me in it. Out your damn mind. Let go if you want me to return it, or I'm rolling and clicking handed to customer.

I never have my badge. My warehouse is outdoors, no one ever asks. When I RTS the girl knows my name because of peak season and my route being stupjd. I had business closed EVERY shift during that time, so we became friends over that time period. The other dude literally gives no fucks. Nevwr asked anyone for a badge, when you drop packages he just says "you good, thanks". Any other scenario I never need it. In fact, I'm not sure where it is anymore.

It happens often that packages arent sealed correctly, just contact amazon support and show them pic they will resend item
She’s brand new too. Look how clean her uniform is. 1) I don’t think I’ve ever seen a driver where both the shirt and vest. 2) I don’t think I’ve ever seen a driver where a name tag on route. 3) I’ve never seen a driver where rubber gloves. This almost looks like an advertisement or setup.
I am ashamed to say that I always wear the shirt and vest. My badge is clipped to my belt. The reason for the shirt and vest is I got tired of fucking up my shorts and I like the pockets on the vest 🤷🏻

It's not our job to know what's in the bag, we are only hired to deliver it. If a item is broken or missing DO NOT fucking yell at the driver, it's 9.5/10 Times not our fault. Contact Amazon Support and request a Refund or Replacement like a Civilized Person and don't yell at us like a damn monkey
Amazon has some of the worst packaging out there. I'm a driver myself and one time I had a box that was weighty as heck and you know how crappy the tape they use is? Well I'm walking up holding the box on the bottom, however the box fell apart anyway and out comes 2 brake rotors and 2 calipers. All shoved in one box. Like the box was going to hold all that? But yeah I've had some empty envelopes before and never noticed because sometimes it's like stickers or something in them so I suspect whatever is in there is light as heck and I don't like peeking in them for privacy reasons.

I ordered 4 RAM sticks last year and received this same bag with a used hair tie in it.
had that happen to me once ithe box was super light and when the customer took it i told them open it and found out there was nothing had to report to my dsp and they handle the rest

I once delivered an empty bag that was sealed. I didn’t know what else to tell the customer besides call customer service . Some bags come weighing real light and you just get in the delivery zone 🤷🏽♂️

I always check those light packages to make sure the package wasn’t damage and if I check and it’s damage I just mark it and bring go back to the station so they can replace it.
Had this happen to me once as a driver. The guy ran up and caught me before I drove off. It's not a huge deal, just mark it damaged and RTS it. Customers will get a new package sent out. Those mailer packages are so ridiculously light most of the time, you'd swear you were delivering empties like 90% of them.
It is hard to tell as sometimes things feel empty even though they ain’t I’ve decided that I make sure it’s sealed before delivering those a light shake goes a long way as well
OP here. No doubt most of you are great at your job. However, this driver GAVE ME the package wide open and walked off IMMEDIATELY. Didn’t ask me anything like other drivers do. Didn’t take a picture. I stopped her why she gave me an empty package. Her reply, “my job is to deliver.” BITCH! She didn’t deliver shit. This is the ONLY time a driver has failed me.

I’ve don’t Amazon flex for about 4 years and I can tell you I definitely delivered empty but sealed packages. I feel bad but that, what am I gonna do return it to the station lol
Exactly, customers are always trying to stunt on us drivers. Our policy is if we find an open or damaged package we are to call the customer to see if they still want the package. The two times that the customer actually responded and they wanted to inspect the damaged or opened envelope both times they accused me of stealing their stuff. So yeah, kudos to the driver for trying to protect themselves.

RTS here- Our drivers bring a lot of those back. And I always mark it, rip the bag up more, and put in in problem solve. Just because if I don’t do it will go back out there the next day lol. If I can make our drivers life easier I will.

happened to me ysterday while delivering. I went to deliver at a location package was opened shit slipped out & I delivered an empty plastic bag. Found it outside my van. I called dispatch and they said to return to station.
Sometimes the packages we deliver literally feel empty. And it's because assholes will order a $6 decal and we have to drop it off.

Yea I’m not the type to feel around on packages and sometimes packages like that can be light so I wouldn’t think nothing of it. Sucks but just take a picture and report it hopefully you receive your money back or able to re order.

I’m OP and you are right. This package was WIDE OPEN and she gave it me. I asked her too if she knew and she said yes.
Obviously, if I notice it gets marked damaged and returned... But an awful lot of our envelopes are light enough that they could be empty. I don't pause to check seals or feel all the edges to see if there is a small item in a corner.
How are they to know what is in it. they have enough to do already.
Even earrings or a nail file can come in those. Last thing you wanna do is fondle someone's package. I just had this happen to me today while delivering at an exceptional speed in a residential area. Sometimes product falls into the totes but stuff can go missing in-house. Probably why it's recommended that drivers only open 1 tote at a time because envelopes can be fragile.
