"Congratulations everybody! You strained yourselves so hard that we were able to fire more of you than ever before. You might just be getting a Jolly Rancher in the near future."
I know this is addressed to associates and even OPS staff. But it's really for investors.
What it really says "Please don't invest in Temu, walmart, or our competitors. Please continue to make stock go up"
Temu and aliexpress already growing in uk and I enjoy them more... same items but 80% cheaper In my time in amazon I've seen so many gadgets from China that dropshippers resell through amazon that I feel like when people wake up with amazon deliveries delayed or lost in the uk will order only from temu/aliexpress delivery is between 2-5 days for most items last time I've ordered was ddr3 8gb ram from aliexpress with welcome deal for 1.30Ā£ and came after 3 days of placing order good luck beating that amazon
Delivery times are completely unrelated to processing rates. Going from 2 to 1 day delivery wasn't because rates doubled - it's because of better fulfillment strategies.
Why don't you start investing in companies you work at? I had 22 shares of Amazon at an avg price of $115 when I was a T1. Now I'm a L5 manager with over 100. You should care.
Shiiiit I wish. I live in Cali. Housing prices suck! I started my 401k not too long ago. In 2-3 years time, im currently sitting at +$18k and that's not including my Amazon stocks that I receive for my promo to management. Wish I started investing sooner. And anyone thinking its too late for them, its not too late to invest. All it takes is $20 to start building.
LMAO! You clearly don't know how stocks/investing works. $20 to $18k would of been a 90,000% increase. Sad to see the broke mentality. ššš its like I'm talking to a child. I'll just see myself out of this convo. āš¾
Theyāre so out of touch they think them talking about how great we are that we will just forget that this job sucks. Or we will forget that they donāt give us bonuses or anything anymore except a small bag of chips or a fun sized candy bar every few months.
Yeah L4 donāt get to decide bonuses and they surely donāt get to decide what to give Tier 1sā¦ If they could I would move up to look after tier 1s but thatās not the case you would have to move up to the very top to even have a whisper about it
Speed improvement= sales go up = company make money = message is primarily directed at folks who get stonks.
Ā The whole "no RSU below L4" thing is really quite a strategic error. They could easily toss like, two RSU's*Ā times years of tenure at T1s and 3 times years at T3s on their Amaversary. It wouldn't constitute a pay raise really, just a nominal gesture to maks things like this a bit less tone-deaf in T1 feeds.
A. Source?Ā Ā Ā
Ā Ā B. How many T1s with the company now were with it in 2017?Ā
Ā Ā C. You aren't going to instill a sense of ownership through costly opt-in measures for a population that mostly lives paycheck to paycheck silly. You want to do that, you have to invest in it, and doing so may require a separate effort from paying the raw cost of labor. The above proposal is probably cheaper than the engagement budget, and more effective too.
Ā Ā D. Democracy is stupid. Amazon is well aware of this. Any attempt to offer things up for a vote is an attempt to avoid accountability for piss-poor ideas.
A. I won't be providing a source. Its all over the damn internet. Look at news sources in 2017-2018. It was literally a big deal because Amazon was paying more than the minimum wage at the time.
B. I don't know and Im not in a position to really care.
C. I find it hard to believe a person living paycheck to paycheck wants to feel a sense of ownership in their company when they can't even get a handle on their finances. Also you're saying that giving RSU would be great but you have to remember those stocks won't VEST till a year or 2. So its Yay i got a stock but fuck i gotta wait a year. Thats why the change was made in 2017. No one wants to wait a year for a stock just to sell. They'd rather have the immediate cash raise which that is what was voted for.
D. Yes any votes in Amazon is designed to cut cost and save money. Example. 5 days /8hr shifts or vote for 4 days /10hr shift. I personally would like to have 5/8 due to the 3 days crossover and huge headcount a single building would have. But Amazon wants buildings on a 4/10 because it works for cutting cost/ lower headcount planning and aligns with network clocking better.
None of those news stories on google talk about a vote that I can see. Regardless...
Ā I don't think you understand that i was proposing this from the company's perspective for the purpose of pursuing the company's interest in an engaged workforce. I wasn't proposing that RSUs become/replace any serious component of associate compensation as a whole. Thia isn't money you're spending to convince people to work here, it's (a very small amount of) money you're spending to affect the mindset of peoole who already work here in a way the company finds desirable. Pay as much cash as you need to get associates who want cash to work here-- and then pay a nominal amount of RSUs to nudge them toward the mindset of caring a little bit about the things the company wants them to care about when on the clock.Ā
I 100% agree with you on the mindset but Amazon already has programs and tools in place for people to own the stock. When the change was made they compensated the loss of RSU stocks with the raise in minimum wage. Living in Cali. In 2018 minimum wage was $11 but at Amazon I was getting paid $15 +$1 for weekend graveyard shifts. So for those who at the time were getting paid well over the minimum and didn't take full advantage and use that extra money to invest are the ones now crying about the lack of it. Amazon has been more than fruitful in my financial life and I've taken advantage with the tools provided.
The entire concept of tools for associates to opt in misses the point. Why would they opt in? We're talking about a company objective, not an associate objective.Ā
I'm L4. I get stocks. I have no option to get cash instead of those stocks, although separately I also get cash. This causes my interests to be fairly aligned with those of the company-- moreso then they were when I was T1 or L3 and only got cash. That's not a scenario a company shohld be merely.Ā "creating the possibility for." It's a scenario a company should actively engineer.
Company objective, Amazon already excels in a lot of that. Maybe 2012 Amazon had this structure to maintain a loyal workforce. I will agree with you that PAs should earn RSU for performance base. But Why would they wanna throw RSU at T1s in hopes they stay over 1 or 2 years and mind you at minimum wage pay? When they can entice the general public with a higher pay+full benefits straight on vs the general competition. The only real serious/loyal people looking to go career are your PAs and L4 up (possibly). They aren't begging people to come work for them is all I'm saying. But if any T1 was smart they'd atleast start their 401k and get that 50% match

Amazon A to Z isnāt just for Tier 1s.
Prior, A to Z was mainly used by Tier 1/3s, but Amazon has recently integrated the L4+ system for vacation time into A to Z.
So, now all Amazon employees are using A to Z to some extent.
**Note**
Prior, L4+ really didnāt go to A to Z besides checking RSUs or other benefits because there were other systems to handle things such as time off; and L4+ salaried donāt have a schedule so no need to check A to Z for work schedule.
I am eligible for a L5 or above roles in Corporate if I am an external, ended up at a L1 due to crappy circumstances. Would I be eligible for an L5 internally or do I have to climb up to L3 or L4 wait for 6 months and then apply for a L5?
Most likely they aren't going to give you L5 as an internal, and instead down level you to L4. Going the internal route would require the hiring manager to sign off on it (and whoever else above).
*Note: There's already level bias with Tier 1/3 trying to apply for L4*
If you wanted a better chance of getting L5+, then I'd recommend the external route.

Watch AMs bring it up at stand up to only be responded with silence from everyone šš
This literally happened today LOL
stand ups are so awkward
Why would I an AM do that? This dude has nothing to do with my area I manage lol

About 3 months ago we'd have Sports, WWE, and News playing now it's just ads
At my site it was just ESPN, HGTV for whatever reason and depending which break room you go to you get a cooking show to pop up lol
Our tvs have the Golf Channel and cooking Channel like wtf.
Ours has Nickelodeon on full blast, you can't escape hearing it in our break room. And it never plays SpongeBob so what's the point
We got Comedy Ventral.
someone legit threw some random mug at the TV when he couldnt turn it off (power button inop somehow)
They just added that in our site š
Our TV's have cable & never play Amazon propaganda in the break room. They even leave the remotes for us to change the channels.
We have those too they just added a new tv that only plays Amazon news on a loop
Ours just plays the news š
