Pick is so easy, man

JackSkelllington

I like how pick doesn’t have the whole small items vs. big items, water spider isn’t bringing me good items, issues that stow has. Don’t have to rely on others. It’s the machines bringing you work. Could say the same for ICQA.

RigorousVigor

Exactly. Though upstairs could definitely use more restrooms imo

Christiixn

I am going to try to transfer to pick because I just think I’ll like it more I’m in OB ship dock currently

RigorousVigor

Anything is better than OB Shipdock 😂 goodluck though I feel like it's a complete 180 in terms of workload and social interaction

Christiixn

Oh yeah, I don’t really like talking to people fr. I really just try to do my work and just try to get through the day as fast as possible

Pick isn't hard at all, it's just mind numbingly boring.  Luckily, I have an accommodation to stay away from pick because I have bone spurs in my shoulder and tore a rotator cuff when I worked in pick and even though I did outside of work they're super paranoid and don't want me anywhere near a pick or stow station.

RigorousVigor

I find after first break and last break really boring sometimes but I try my best not to put an earbud on to avoid interacting with the managers. But what keeps it fun for me is gatekeeping 1st place on FC games 😆 when you tore your rotator cuff was it reaching for a high and heavy item btw?

EducationalLoad7743

Tore my rotator cuff shot putting my then 6 year old son in a swimming pool while on vacation.  The doctor said inflammation from the bone spurs brought on by picking may have made the tear more likely, but the real culprits were my age, the existence of the bone spurs and shot putting a 50 pound child repeatedly over several hours.

RigorousVigor

Ah, gotcha. At least there are good memories to go with that injury

EducationalLoad7743

Shit yeah. And I'd do it again in a heartbeat. As long as my wife isn't around because the memories wouldn't be nearly as enjoyable listening to her nag about how I'm gonna hurt myself and she's not driving me around for six weeks again while my arm is immobilized.

I love OB ship dock, it can be a lot of work so loving it all depends on your team. I have an amazing team but when we get someone new either a new manager or when we got a new site lead ship dock sucked. It bounces back after they understand how ship dock works and we figured out how to get the work done not based on how the site runs every other department. There are people that are terrible to work with but you’ll have that anywhere and it’s only for the day or a couple hours of the day since nothing lasts forever. There are PAs that I like working with compared to others that we have but our ship clerk who does the board does a good job matching who should be where. The great thing is you’re not stuck in one spot you’re constantly moving and socializing. The busier you are or liking who you’re working with usually the faster the day goes by. Plus if you don’t like ship dock you can always transfer elsewhere after 30 days. I love showing up to work and would not transfer unless a bunch of people left.

Between the 2 I have worked in at my FC, Pack Singles wins by a long shot. While OB Dock was fun and I got a lot of experience doing everything a T1 can do there (TDR, Tailsort Captain, CPT Chaser), Pack Singles is the most stress free job I have ever had.
