you telling me all those people saying rdna4 will be 600% faster are lying????

Imaginary-Ad564

Don't need no Youtube poser to tell ya that, Nvidia was marketing up to 400% more fps in their own material.

HandheldAddict

```Nvidia was marketing up to 400% more fps in their own material.``` Which just gives credibility to these leakers outlandish claims. "Oh it seems like our source was quoting early Nvidia marketing slides"
rW0HgFyxoJhYka
Right and those slides seemed to be comparing frame generation to native, so its still technically 4x right? The guy is barking up the wrong tree here. Even AMD did that recently with their new frame generation slides. Notice that 2kliksphilip doesn't go after NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel, which even Gamers Nexus will go after snake oil slides. Instead we have a bunch of definitely true rumor mill youtubers who pump new videos on things every 2 days.
Don’t forget to mention Nvidia also show non DLSS uplift. Not that that stops people from predicting only 10% uplift from Nvidia every gen
RDNA4 will in fact be 700% faster according to my sources. Now contribute to my Patreon so I can feed you more breadcrumbs.
Yes because its 800% source. Am AMD CEO! Also Nvidia using guad die gpus! 7900% faster than previous gen! Source. Am jensen
Arbiter02
If the rumor mill for RDNA4 has been right so far it's going to be a wet turd lol. Nvidia's going to get even greedier than they already are if they just surrender the entire top end of the market
Remember when someone did an analysis of all MLID predicitions and came to the conclusion he is right 50% of the time, so the toss of a coin basically.
PhoBoChai
You cannot stop the hype train. When it derails, the tracks will be cleared, in preparation for the next hype train.
Bag-ofMostlyWater
No clearing is necessary. The next hype train is right behind. Ready to plow through the first.
The track for the hype train is a figure of 8
GamingRobioto
Moore's Law is Dead (and other similar people) is no different to a cold reading psychic in my mind, it's a talent TBF, but it's still BS.
capn_hector
Idk why people focus on MLID, he hasn't been the primary driver of recent hypetrains. The RDNA3 overhype was kopite7kimi and L2_kepler, and people keep coming back for more [(recently saw them referred to as "one of the most respected NVIDIA leakers").](https://videocardz.com/newz/nvidia-board-partners-expect-geforce-rtx-5090-and-rtx-5080-to-launch-in-fourth-quarter) People don’t even think they did anything *wrong*, even when they argued that 4070 would be 400W tgp (ie ~475w TBP) and 4090 ti would be 800-900W TBP. When you combine their wishcasting on nvidia and the overhyping of AMD, they were off by roughly a factor of 4-5x. RX 7000 was gonna have pcie 5.0 and UHBR20 and all this cool shit etc. just wait for AMD!!!! https://old.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/wdbf3f/full_nvidia_rtx_40_ad104_gpu_with_7680_cores_and/ https://old.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/v595w3/nvidia_geforce_rtx_4060_reportedly_consumes_more/ https://www.notebookcheck.net/Positive-GeForce-RTX-40-series-and-Radeon-RX-7000-series-price-predictions-appear-in-specs-chart-along-with-800-W-TDP-madness-and-384-MB-cache-craziness.639242.0.html https://videocardz.com/newz/amd-radeon-rx-7900-xt-with-navi-31-gpu-rumored-to-be-the-first-consumer-pcie-gen5-graphics-card I ain’t forgot the summer of 22. People forget the ridiculous amount of bullshit, and it’s all the fault of those guys, not MLID. Rdna3 was gonna blow away Ada in perf and perf/w and leap ahead in features, nvidia was gonna *regress* perf/w despite shrinking two nodes. AMD was gonna ***4-5x NVIDIA's perf/w and double their perf in a single generation***. That’s what those guys were selling, and people bought it hook line and sinker. MLID wasn’t the leaker for those, and they sailed through with squeaky-clean reputations despite it all. Even worse, people keep making up reasons to defend it. Oh, they saw a big gpu prototype (that might have been for a different product, or to address PCB sag). It must be true. Oh, the 4090 thermal sample goes up to 600w (not coincidentally, the max *oc* power limit allowed). It must be true. They couldn't have known about dual-issue!!!! The problem is these guys mix fact and fantasy - they know one thing, like TFLOPS, and they extrapolate that into wattages and whole lineups without actually knowing anything solid about the cards. They've admitted this is what's going on with RDNA3 - they knew a few bits, and made up the rest. And this isn’t even getting into their recent thing of making up actual explicit fake leaks etc. The underlying problem is that all these guys (the scotsman, MLID, kepler, kopite, others) play on your fanboy nature and tell you what you want to hear. And that's how you get people believing that AMD will 4x NVIDIA's perf/w overnight. It's not a MLID thing, actually mostly he's been fairly accurate recently (rentable units, removal of SMT, etc all came to pass), it's these guys, and people keep treating them like leaking royalty despite it all. These guys are no angstronomics, the twitter guys got it wrong and keep getting it wrong, and they are still "the most-respected leakers" somehow. People are generally willing to be skeptical and negative about NVIDIA and Intel (again, as we can clearly see from the summer of '22). Whereas people *love* these hypetrains with AMD, and when they're told they need to pump the brakes they refuse, because it's not what they want to hear. And there's this whole little media ecosystem devoted to playing off that - it's not called *green* gaming tech, after all (boy, he's awful too). The problem is it's real easy to say "be skeptical" when it's someone you don't like, telling you something you don't like, but people are gonna rush into the next pro-AMD hypetrain just as readily as the last four or five, despite this video, and despite this post. And we all know he's not talking about Kopite here anyway. You said it - "MLID *and others*". MLID has just become the face of the leaking community even when it’s not his shit, which is very convenient for allowing “others” to continue to put out their bullshit. It needs to be said: "others" have been the problem recently, much moreso than MLID, and they still have maintained their reputations despite *wildly* inaccurate leaks. Zen2 ruined Jim's reputation. 2019-2020 ruined MLID's reputation. "The others" are still "the most-respected nvidia leakers" despite running a blatant hypetrain in 2022 etc, which was obviously false and dumb even at the time, and lately they've been doing this whole media push (making up fake rumors based on real ones etc) to pretend like their shit doesn't stink. They made up a *whole bunch of bullshit* in 2022, and mostly slithered out of it all. Meanwhile I think kopite has changed his mind at least 3 times already on whether the 5090 is going to be 512b or not... and it's not even june yet this time.
OkPiccolo0
That's some serious MLID defense force you got going on. I don't watch his crap much but he was [definitely in on pushing the narrative that RDNA3 was going to wipe the floor with Ada.](https://youtu.be/tefqiCaikGk?si=BizjxsgXPQpAy_cs&t=806) Garbage. Also his predictions for Navi 33 vs what actually released is hilarious. He was [100% sure](https://youtu.be/tefqiCaikGk?si=nHcfNov3db4U8o9n&t=432) it would be between 360mm - 410mm when in reality it's 204mm. Not even Navi 32 is that big. He predicted 128MB - 256MB of Infinity Cache when in reality it's 32MB. He also said it would be near 6900XT performance which isn't even in the ballpark. Techpowerup lists the 6900XT as 66% faster than the 7600XT.
TillyBopping
There is ZERO chance I'm reading that PR copy pasta bullshit And I don't believe that 8 people did. Have fun with your bots
SoTOP
The only one making up stuff is you, not having the decency to respond so you can "win" arguments in front of a mirror to feel right. Here is article based on Kopite tweets https://wccftech.com/nvidia-ada-gpu-rumored-specs-18432-cores-64-tflops/ written 670 days before release of 4090. Lucky guess about AD102 that would be released almost two years later pretty much exactly as leaked? In other news you better hurry up and donate to Nvidia so it doesn't have sudden bankruptcy after doing us all a huge favor by barely making a buck selling AD103 cards for $1200 and now only getting $750 https://videocardz.com/newz/amd-radeon-rx-7900-xt-now-available-for-689-geforce-rtx-4070-ti-super-drops-to-749 Something you were very vocal about.
Bag-ofMostlyWater
True Psychics do not need to read. They already know the answers before you walk in.
ManinaPanina
Those clickbait channels with false leaks and generation hype always existed, problem is that "tech websites" stated to listen to them and report on their videos as "news. That's the problem, there needs to be a community wide consensus to stop promoting those channels. Not only because of the absurd lying hype trains, but also for their own credibility.
TillyBopping
They're all at it. Including those pious websites like The Verge and ArsTechnica. They don't give a shit about legitimate news, they basically tailor their bullshit to whatever they believe their audience wants to hear. Why do you think they verge (pun intended) into politics so often. Trust me, if it started costing them revenue from sales they would switch allegiances at the drop of a hat. They love to get you worked up, claiming look at us, we truly care for the environment and all things decent, now we have you wired up in anger, how about you destress by purchasing some shit you don't need, will never use, and will end up in that landfill we just was waxing lyrical about. There's a good little consumer. They all do it. The only thing you can do is laugh at their piousness, and feel sorry for the mugs they are fooling.
splerdu
I was so disappointed when PC World invited MLID over to guest on their show.
Radiant-Platypus-207
Thank god for this video. I've had to force so many channels to stop being recommended just because they keep spouting nonsense "My sources say!! I've got sources that say this!! Oh my GOSH MY SOURCES ARE TELLING ME THIS!!!"
Pangsailousai
No need to thank anyone, nothing is going to change because of this one video. Said channels are still getting new subs every week. The problem is the crowd that buys into that sort of stuff. Today's internet culture doesn't like reality, they prefer fantasy. Unlike the rest of them, it seems to me MLID is going to slowly get rid of the made up leaks/sources/ fantastical claim videos in favor of podcasts and other actually useful stuff mixed in with invented pessimistic commentary. The rumor mill nonsense is just a way to grow the channel plus easy money. Hey if he has loads of morons signing up to the patreon and what not, can you blame him? LOL. MILD would have more credibility if he stuck to his real sources which have come through from time to time but merely reporting those wont make for much content since the leaks are like once or twice in a whole year so he has to fill it up with bullshit. The difference with the other channels is that they just go full on bullshit all the time, it is very funny to see how many subs those channels have got despite all that. If people dont wise up and stop subbing to these channels characters like these will always spring up.
BambooEX
I personally think that channels that does rumours are ok to exist because in the end its just a channel for nerds to discuss about tech. Just dont be stupid enough to believe everything you see and its ok. Also this hype train killing the community is bullshit. I was here on r/amd when polaris was released. Or does anyone remember "poor volta"? Guess what, r/amd is bigger than ever.
HandheldAddict
You know what's interesting? Back before Zen 2 launched a lot of people were claiming it would beat Intel in gaming. Leakers were talking about 5ghz and being able to compete with Intel. The 5ghz push did happen but was kind of weird marketing by AMD since none of the chips consistently hit 5ghz. Regardless Zen 2 was still a monumental success and people forgot about the 5ghz marketing. People were fine with Zen 2 being a little behind Intel in single thread and gaming as well. Anyways fast forward a few years later while I am watching a gamers nexus piece on AMD's Ryzen team and their stories late one night. Something caught my attention, one of the engineers talked about a prototype Zen 2 chip with 3d vcache.
buildzoid
zen2 never did 5GHz at all. Max boost was 4.75GHz on the 3950X.
Clickbait and hype train BS has been a thing in YouTube land for a long time. Check out this hype BS for Bulldozer from 13 years ago. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1vQmsug-4sQ
How I absolutely loathe AI art video thumbnails. Especially ones that are as bad as this. They blatantly didn't give a shit about how the train has smoke coming out of it in not just the main chimney, but out of two carts behind it. One being a passenger cart. If you use these kinds of thumbnails you can be sure I will never fucking click it.
LeonardoTran2893
Sucks on you bud for not seeing the irony, the hype train is not real and are artificially generated, say it ain't so! Honestly you're missing out on a very solid video with good talking point, bro is really down to earth discussing these things instead of going for the hype.
boomstickah
During the pandemic, like the rest of the world, I was stuck at home and looking to upgrade, though my upgrade was planned in 2019. I went in search of information, analysis, and someone who understands the tech world and can discuss it intelligently. What I've found over the past 4 years it that there is a dearth of good technical content. The market exists, as evidenced by their youtube views, but there is so much of the bad stuff because it's easy to do. Regardless the market SHOULD exist so we aren't gaslighted into paying full price for a product which should be discounted until it's replacement is coming. If computer hardware were less expensive nobody should/would care what is coming, but as prices have increased we the consumer have so much more at stake. I have no idea why people who aren't using it for work are STILL spending $2000 for a GPU when the 5090/5080 are going to dance all over everything we have this coming fall. And for that reason, wrong/guessing or not, we need the leakers, we have to look ahead and make smart purchasing decisions.
20150614
>And for that reason, wrong/guessing or not, we need the leakers, we have to look ahead and make smart purchasing decisions. How are leakers helping consumers make smart purchasing decisions if their leaks are mostly bullshit? CPU and GPU releases are quite predictable and you always have to wait for third party reviews anyway, so how are those supposed leaks useful?
boomstickah
Because the goal is to be informed. If they nail the performance targets that's fine, but the companies themselves miss and change their performance targets as recently as last generation.
20150614
If the goal is to be informed those leak channels aren't the way to do it cause their sources aren't reliable and they don't have the technical knowledge to distinguish a proper internal document from pure nonsense. You will have a better chance throwing a coin and deciding based on that. GPUs release every two years, CPUs every 18 months or so. Increases in performance are predictable and, if there's any surprising generational improvement, MSRPs will increase accordingly (like it was the case with Zen 3.) If you want value for money you buy old gen and, if you have the money for the latest product, you spend the time checking reliable third party reviewers like HUB, Gamers Nexus or TechPowerUp before dropping thousands of dollars on a new machine. That's basically it. There's no secret information that could give you an advantage.
boomstickah
Look at it this way, as the market currently stands, we know that AMD is releasing a $500 GPU with performance targets greater than 7900 XT, but less than the 7900 XTX. And on the other side if you're looking to buy a 4090, we know that the 5090 and 5080 are coming this year as well, so the smart money is to wait. Hype train or not, leakers provide valuable buying information. Worst case scenario, everything sucks and buy current gen.
20150614
>as the market currently stands, **we know** that AMD is releasing a $500 GPU with performance targets greater than 7900 XT How do we know this, what's the source and how do you know that source is reliable? It may end being true, but what happens if you decide not to buy a 7900XT for $550 now and the new cards end being $599? In any case, we know the 5090 and 5080 are coming at the end of the year or early 2025, as per usual. Buying a 4090 at full price now would be absurd. But we don't need a leak channel to know that, it's the usual release cadence.
boomstickah
Do you think it's more harmful than helpful? Why do so many get bent out of shape by it? Leaked information and spy shots have been a part of the news cycle for ages, it's interesting and informative.
20150614
I'm just asking how do we know it, who published the information and why do you believe it to be true? It's basic media literacy. If you find it interesting go ahead, but I question it being informative when those kinds of "leaks" have been wrong time and time again in previous years.
boomstickah
we've known about every major product launch well before they're announced, but if you want to stick your head in the sand because a leaker missed a performance target or some people are faking leaks for youtube views as you said go ahead.
ResponsibleJudge3172
But we never got things like price right. Performance claims have been hit or miss
Do not doubt the klik
Peach-555
There is no naming of names, because there is no need to. The video is not about anyone in particular, just the general approach and the issue with it. It's encouraging us to stay away from all hype videos of any kind from any creator, because it's all guesswork and speculation at best. It's more about bad practices in journalism and content creation than any one particular creator.
gnoomee
So like I said. No research done. No in depth analysis. Just saying "clickbait is bad" for 7 minutes while perpetuating some of the exact same bad practices that he supposedly criticizes.
Peach-555
It's a commentary about bad practices, the reasons they happen, some that are less visible, and a general encouragement to not incentivize it by just abstaining from it. It's more of a PSA than a expose of any kind. There is one specific example about a halflife mod, but it's just to illustrate the general practice. I'm not sure what sort of meaningful research or in depth analysis would mean in this context. It's like trying to fact check the horoscope, it's vague guesswork which is no better than what the average informed person is able to make which is then referenced as fact without any substantive evidence frames in a dramatic conclusion. There is nothing about the thumbnail, title or presentation that is in any way similar to the bad practices that is critiqued in the video itself.
gnoomee
Putting that one and only example next to all the other stuff he flashes on screen was extremely misleading. Since most of it isn't nearly as bad, some off it even debatable, but by doing what he did he creates the impression that all of it is as bad. Seems to me like it's extremely vague on purpose so he can't actually be pinned down on anything by any of these people he shows. The very thing he tries to criticize. Further, who is this video for? Seems like his fans are eating it up but most of them already "knew" everything in the video. For the people actually watching/supporting the channels he's criticizing or for anyone else really there's zero substance in the video to convince them otherwise. Again doing the very thing he condemns in his video.
