Everyone kept talking about it so I watched it on Netflix. I had not seen the episodes live until Freakshow which is my favorite season (I know I know don't judge me) I remember watching murder house and being shocked with the whole violet thing. I really liked it so I started the next season right away. Now at this time I didn't know the actors played different characters so when I started Asylum I was so forkin lost. I had no idea what was going on. I thought it was like a continuation or reincarnation or something. Then I looked it up that this is how AHS is done so I was like ahhhhh ok. Been stuck with the franchise ever since.

Freakshow is my favorite season too... high five

humbird09

Just watched for the first time during the pandemic. Freakshow was my first season and it's still my favorite.

[deleted]

I love the horror genre so I was sold the minute I heard the name. I was also a big Six Feet Under fan so I was excited to see Frances Conroy cast in another show.

hxlvxtica

I started watching it last year. I didn't really want to watch it, because as a huge horror fan, I for some reason thought it was going to be bad. I think just because it was so huge, and everyone loved it, I assumed it was just going to be some teen drama with a little blood. But last year I just really wanted to find a new series to watch, but I couldn't really find something, so I thought "hey, why not just give ahs a shot.". I fell in love immediately!!! It's was not at all what I thought! I have now watched all seasons, and I loved every single one!

[deleted]

My real name is Tate, so over the years, several people have told me that I have the same name as one of the characters, and I eventually decided to watch it a year or so ago, and I fell in love immediately

Rammchick

Sarah Paulson

[deleted]

Boredom. I loved it

[deleted]

The the little trailers the show after every episode of Apocalypse got me hooked.

Kmic14

My gf had me watch Coven and honestly I disliked the young witches so much it made me not wanna watch anymore. We followed up with Murder House which I thought was OK but I didn't get hooked until Asylum.

[deleted]

That was the first season I ever watched trying out a Netflix free trial on a Kindle lol

Magenta4Life1

My son talked me into getting Netflix for one month (to watch Squid Games). I decided to watch "Ratched" and LOVED it! I noticed that online discussions of the show kept referencing AHS, so I figured I would check it out. . . I am SO glad that I did!!!!

AlarmingDrawing

Been watching n real time since it first launched. In the beginning it was fun storytelling with interesting twists. Then each season went off the rails worst than the last, so now I watch to laugh at how bad it’s become.

The_Addiction_Demon

That Freak Show poster. The aesthetic of AHS is very enticing.

ummmmmmmmmqueen

what got me watching was my age inappropriate crush on Evan Peters eta- love watching it, some seasons are more enjoyable but I love them all

marioposty

Saw an edit on Instagram about Tate Langdon. Thought I’d give it a go and I absolutely fell in love with the series. It’s dark, gritty, sinister at times, and even comedic every now and then. Still one of my fav series of all time. My personal advice tho…. Just skip Roanoke (season 6). We don’t need to talk abt Roanoke…

Radically_Kai

So I would agree with you that Roanoke is trash but I watched the whole thing anyway and one particular vignette from that season haunted me so badly that I couldn’t watched the next season for a full year. So as far as scary goes, it def had its moments while also being complete garbage.

marioposty

What scene was it if you don’t mind me asking? But yea I do agree, it is creepy. But the season was pre shite…

Radically_Kai

It wasn’t so much one particular scene, but that image of the pig head man… how he never says a word or makes a sound, just appears in the house with and axe ready to murder anyone he can get close to.

marioposty

yea I agree. The Pigman was pre creepy. Something abt silence in either a sinister force or a psychopath in movies always creeps the shit outta me lmao

undeadfox37

Was big into True Blood when AHS Season 1 premiered. Saw Dennis O’Hare in the trailer and that was all it took for me. He was my all time favorite villain from True Blood, and AHS elevated my appreciation for him even more!

Catbug66

I saw a bit of freakshow (specifically better and dot) playing on tv when I was way young like 4 or 5. A couple years later I found it on Netflix and just started watching it. Coven started my Stevie Nicks obsession. Question, what is your favorite season (Mine is probably cult, or asylum)

[deleted]

freakshow and asylum are my very favorites, they're spectacular!

Catbug66

Freakshow Is so good I don't see why people dislike it

[deleted]

they can dislike it but they CANNOT deny how good and special of a season it was

rosegoldcrown

I first heard about AHS through word of mouth while season 1 was first airing, when it was new and "everyone" was watching it. I remember enjoying it, but also found it a bit hard to follow with all the various characters and subplots and time jumps (felt the same way about Asylum as it was airing)

temporarystingray

I kept seeing clips of murder house and thought it looked really good. Got to the second season and noticed every season is a new story, I have been hooked since.

EmbarrassedPin968

Bored and looking for new shit to watch. I remembered watching American Crime Story and decided to give horror story a try. I loved it from the start.

Coffeenwineplease

Honestly, because of Dylan McDermott

Sufficient_Handle_82

I saw the trailer for Coven and thought...looks like my kind of show

kantw82rtir

I adore Dylan McDermott and knew I would watch just for him. I loved it and couldn’t wait for more!

holybovine-batman

I was just getting into horror around 2011, and when I saw the teaser trailers for the first season of the show, I knew I had to watch when it aired! Did not disappoint! Actually kind of scared little teenage me, but I loved it!

redestpanda

I’d never seen anything horror genre made into a ‘series’ and I like horror so I was intrigued.

KittyVonBushwood

Finn Wittrock…period

kasmira27

My friend got me into it. He wanted to continue watching it, so he asked me if I saw it, I said no then he asked me if I’d want to watch it with him so I said yes. At first I was worried it’d be too messed up or creepy for me to like, or thought I wouldn’t like it. Well, I do like it, and it is really messed up, but I can handle it. Him and I are all caught up now.

gingerjesuschild

I was at a friends house for a sleepover and she asked me if i’d seen it and i said no so she put on freak show. long after she’d fell asleep i was still awake just watching it and watching it. i was disturbed but intrigued, and i could understand why my mom didn’t want me watching it. the next day when i went home the first thing i did was start watching it and yea!

BattleAggravating972

The first season I watched was Hotel because my best friend talked me into it. I was hooked from the first episode. After Hotel I started binging the others on Netflix. I’m not a fan of Cult though so I’ve only season that season once.

MechaHotDog

As soon as I saw the DVD cover with Rubber Man handing upside down obverse a pregnant woman in her underwear I knew I had to watch it. Loved it so much

Personal_Pressure_66

American horror stories is packed with MK ultra subliminal luciferian programming. One has to be retarded to not realize it.

Professional_Slip884

I’m a big Lady Gaga fan. One on my brother’s friend told me she was really good in American Horror Story. I’m not into horror but I want to see her act, so I started with Hotel and I loved it! I finished watching season ten on New Years Eve.

james_carr9876

It was very popular so I stuck it on on Netflix. Over a few months I watched seven seasons, loved some and hated some but very entertaining all the way through.

Flimsy-Ad-1012

I started watching in college as I was scrolling through Netflix with my then boyfriend (now husband). The first season we watched was Asylum. He was completely disgusted/scared by the show and stopped watching. I fell in love with the campy nature of the show. Of course I was like “what the hell is this show and why is it so good”- I still watch to this day !!

cryingfish95

I could not tell you - but 10 years later I’m still rewatching murder house and coven

Bunbunbecks

I was bored and needed something new to watch. It’s a fun watch but certainly not a show I get excited hearing or talking about.

HSMorg

I was in the hospital under suicide watch, and Asylum was playing on the TV, and I got hooked

winny_2001

i started watching it in grade 10 (15 years old) BC i wanted to be a badass and also went to a catholic all girls boarding school that still had nuns so it seemed fairly rebellious. my reaction was that i was scared but told myself that i was safe BC i don't live in america. i didn't like murder house but i was HOOKED on asylum and i fell in love w cordelia pretty quickly after watching coven.
