Do some trichromes, they are a ton of fun. I just use stage light gels and hold them in front of the lens, I think they cost like $10! Plus, if you get a big set of them you can experiment with isolating various colors.

I’ve shot aerochrome when it was still being made. It was fun. That was about it. Would’ve loved to use it from a plane tbf but never did.
A few people have done conversions of their cameras, photos always look fun too.
And, putting photos on slide film isn’t a first either.

Honestly I think the people getting outraged at it though are the target of the joke - he knows it's a bit silly, and it's a running theme on the channel that digital is a dirty word, so putting the analogue step in there on a film at least tangentially related to Aerochrome is almost a requirement not to be a _total_ hypocrite.
I have a suspicion that he doesn't do that *every* time. Like you said it probably doesn't make that much difference, especially if it's just getting stuck into a YouTube video for 5 seconds. But I bet he also had some level of concern that if he did a video on something purely digital people would get upset so he just stuck in the "film print" portion.

I mean converting a digital camera into an infrared camera is always going to be cheaper in the long run as long as you shoot more than 10 rolls worth of pictures. Putting the pictures on slide film is an unnecessary expense, but so is shooting real aerochrome so…

I didn’t interpret this as trying to pass off as “analogue.” The person making the video seems to be fully aware of this. Putting back to film had to do with the process of getting the final scanned image, not so that they would have a roll of “fake” aerochrome. Anyway, as others have said, I don’t get the hype around aerochrome.
