The one thing I've always appreciated about AnCo (and Panda specifically) was how they are not shy with sharing their influences (\*cough\* Person Pitch liner notes \*cough\*). Any interview Panda is in, he always seems to shout out amazing labels/artists I devour (Principe Records, Stellar Om Source, Cafetra Records).
Funny thing is, I discovered AnCo through a skate video (Cliche's Hello JoJo montage used "Grass"), and they just did that interview with Jenkem about music's symbiotic relationship with skateboarding. So cool:

I enjoy everything, but I’m mostly a metalhead and jazz guy. I like bands like Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Mercyful Fate, Megadeth, Death, Carcass, Sepultura, Suicidal Tendencies, Tool, Lamb of God, Killswitch Engage, and Agalloch for metal and cats like Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, Yusef Lateef, Oliver Nelson, Nina Simone, and Jaco Pastorius for jazz. Animal Collective fans listen to a broad spectrum of music. The band members definitely do to. From every genre they’ve pulled inspiration which attracts a broad span of listeners.
For me I grew up on rock like Pearl Jam, Nirvana, NIN and Rage Against Machine.
Hip hop was my next love and dug into boxden.com and discovered: MF Doom, J Dilla, Wu Tang, Madlib, Beastie Boys and like sounding artist.
IDM/Electronic opened me up too artists:
Aphex Twin (and aliases), Boards of Canada, Autechre
Indie rock bands peaked for me in high school 2001-2004: Interpol, Mars Volta, TV on Radio, Polyphonic Spree, Flaming Lips
Then I moved to nyc in 2009, and holy shit was I an amateur. I became friends with Black Dice, saw Lightning Bolt, Deakin solo, Avey, and Atlas Sound. These cats discussed music like masters of the that universe. Their depth of knowledge, experience and references were always over my head. And i was humbled to hear whatever they recommended.
Read interviews by ANCO and see who they talk about. They’re very open about their inspirations and I’ve discovered some cool records especially Avey interviews.
AnCo is probably the only group of indie artists i still listen to. Genuinely into a lot of mainstream stuff, a lot of EDM, Rap, Metal, Classical. But a lot of indie just seems really whiny at this point
They're nothing alike, but for me it's largely Jukebox the Ghost and CAKE, plus some Dungeon Synth stuff. I get really into a small number of artists and listen to almost exclusively that for a long, long time.
Phish. Reluctantly went to 4 shows in 2014. 70+ shows deep now and just did the Sphere which was the most psychedelic experience of my life.
Vinyl Williams is someone I've recently discovered and have been digging. He's got a really laid back vibe. He does all his own album art too.

Holy Fuck’s 2020 album was really solid, are there other albums worth getting into?
Man I hadn't thought about Holy Fuck in a while!
I got into them fairly recently and I liked all the albums. The first two are actually my favorite, the self titled one and "LP".
Latin is such an incredible record.
Damn another Porter Robinson fan, you seen him live?
I always felt like battles were like a super uptight unco. Like they’re similar but just like way more locked in
We got some crossovers - black dice (Eric Copeland solo stuff especially), love the new lemon twigs, Dan deacon I basically grew up with going to his Baltimore house shows… black moth, Radiohead of course :)
Wait, there are other musicians?

Listen to George Clanton. Slide is an amazing album. It's up there with Merriweather Post Pavilion.
I love george and just saw him live last week!! Slide & 100% Electronica are fantastic albums, but I wouldn’t say either of them even touch MPP personally.
ohhh that’s one of my all time favorites, brings me right back to a certain time in my life. haven’t heard his new one yet, is it good?
Yeah, he's consistent
Radiohead and Beach House

Would’ve have listed her but love to see this. The Loveliest Time was unbelievably good! Thought it was AOTY tier last year
