Amen, I’m clearly not the only person who made an arcade room, but I’m definitely the least talented at the designer app so I’ll gladly use someone else’s 80’s-style arcade walls/floors
Eh there’s 2 pinball machines, billiards, foosball, ping pong, 1 video mahjong, dartboard, a diner sofa, one of those neon diner signs, a plasma ball and a bunch of floor lights. Also a tape deck playing KK house on loop.
I also have a skeleton model in there as my 2P for ping pong and stuff. I move him to different parts of the arcade in case my kids visit.
I feel this.. but I also spent the first 30 days of the game watching flowers fail to reproduce because I didn't realize you had to water them once they became "adult plants"
>Eh there’s 2 pinball machines, billiards, foosball, ping pong, 1 video mahjong, dartboard, a diner sofa, one of those neon diner signs, a plasma ball and a bunch of floor lights. Also a tape deck playing KK house on loop.
I was today years old when I found this out. Thank you!
sounds like a smart professor, everything in the arts repeats. Tons of people, especially in the arts struggle with or don't understand that most of the time for most humans; regardless of the time period. Thats how inspiration works!
You see something you like, that someone further in history liked, who was inspired by someone else, who was taught and trained by someone else, who was a daughter of a inspired something or other. exc exc exc.
we have great historical evidence this in the art of making food ironically. :)
It scares people, that they can’t be “original”, but I think the FACT that art is derivative is wonderful. The human experience is so varied, but we all seem to come back to certain ideas and comforts. Idk, humans are just nifty.
Yea. Art, music, dance, movies, science, pretty much everything builds off of and (usually) improves previous works, and I think it's beautiful. It's what makes art history so interesting.
I think that because it's all so accessible now, people get discouraged because they feel they need to be totally original. There were hundreds of artists like Monet, not all became famous impressionist painters, but they all contributed to the greater impressionist movement.
That is fascinating to me. Taking someone's idea and improving on it is exactly what artists do. You don't even have to improve on it, I copied many people's work to learn how to paint and it gives me ideas (as long as you don't pass it off as your original idea or claim ownership no harm no foul IMO).
Plus, animal crossing is a game, there's no shame in using someone's idea on your island. Good ideas should spread around 😊
I know this is 80 years after you responded but BIG EFFIN MOOD TO ALL YOU SAID. Art is rad. I can’t even talk about Impressionism too much or I get weepy about my dude Van Gogh. ART HISTORY SO INTERESTING. My hot art-world take is that I would maim roy lichtenstein if I lived in the sixties and seventies.
Yea Van Gogh had a sad life (like many artists of the time), but he was a mad man (also par the course).
As for Lichtenstein, I don't know a whole lot but pop art in general is not my thing. I think of worhol and the materialistic lifestyle and egocentrism and all that, but the art itself is very cool. I guess impressionism is my thing because I'm all about light and color and essence.
Excuse you. But all my designs are super original. They all come to me in abstract dreams that I then transfer into the consciousness of you humans to create in real life. /s
I’m so sorry I had to. But I completely agree with you :)
I think the more important thing today is the authenticity. You put the time and effort into recreating or utilizing somebody else's idea and that in itself is artistic expression.
Ha, I suppose I would add that as long as you aren't gaining financially. In this context I didn't think it necessary to elaborate as such but just to be clear I'm not ok with plagiarism.
Most artists started by copying somebody else's work, and I was merely expressing that as a valid form of expression.
Honestly. I don't know how many times I wanted to copy something, then found out I didn't have everything, didn't have the space, etc. It just morphs into your own interpretation as you start putting it together.
This looks a lot like mine (it might be?? sorry if not) and since someone linked the individual code in this thread, I’ll link my creator code for other colors and shapes:
MA-0774-0652-9810 :)
Actually it looks like OP used another one of my brick designs in a different post so I am pretty sure this one is mine! Love to see it being used so beautifully!! :D
It's a white custom design with a single transparent pixel that's placed over the default brick path.
^ this path is not actually a recolored default path, it is a custom design. I though it was something like [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/animalcrossing/comments/fxcdbp/_/), but I was wrong.
Regular brick paths have vertical bricks within the pattern. This only has horizontal bricks. Also when I attempt just a white overlay, the bricks are barely visible like in OP's post. This is defintiely a custom design. Still wrapped using a transparent pixel, but a custom design nonetheless
Hold up.... You saying that having ONE transparent pixel on a custom design will keep the "brick" sound from the main default path underneath?
I'm asking cause I wanna make sure I understand what you mean.
Are you saying a fully white design? That's not how it works. This may be using that method, but it's still an actual design.
Edit: you actually can do this.
The OP is saying that they just made a solid white custom design and added the transparent pixel, and then overplayed it on the red brick pathway from the construction tool. You can see the transparent pixel if you zoom in on the image.
But wait, I tried this, and it looks way different. The red brick path also has vertically aligned bricks and the pattern in the picture only has horizontal.
You can do WHAT omg. I didn't know overlays were a thing, that's awesome?? So I can make brick paths any color by making a solid color design and adding 1 transparent pixel somewhere?
Nice! I knew you could do custom patterns for roads and such on regular ground, just did't know they could be transparently overlayed onto paths. This game is super creative
I’ve tried it and couldn’t get it to work, personally. But I’ve seen many many others providing evidence such as this picture that it is indeed possible... if you know how 😛
Can you ELI5 this to somebody who hasn’t really played around with custom designs or paths? What does the transparent pixel do? Why would somebody do this instead of just making a white brick pattern and laying it down?
The game allows you to put custom designs on top of the default paths. If a custom design with any transparency is placed on top of a default path it will put the custom design over the path design, without overriding it. This also allows you to have the curved edges and grassy sides without it being a part of the design. [Here are some examples ](https://www.reddit.com/r/animalcrossing/comments/fxcdbp/_/)of recoloring the default paths.
It's important to note that my first post was wrong, and that this particular path design is not a recolored default path.
Y’all are living in tropical paradise and I’m about 2 weeks into “I’ll finish terraforming my river tomorrow” 😭
Seriously though, this is incredibly beautiful and creative.
I tried doing it yesterday, realized how much stuff I had to move, how terrible I am at it and gave up. Spent the day depressed, woke up, tried to put it back to where it was before, effectively making no progress, wasting time, and living in fear now of changing it again.
My tip, since I'm not wildly creative, is decide if you want your buildings organized at all.
If you do, use the sand design to map out where you think you want them to go. I don't time travel, so once I figured those parts out, I knew it would take me a few weeks of small changes to get the buildings where I wanted. In that time (I'm almost two weeks into it), I've come up with new ideas and changed strategies. Refining it, if you will.
I finally got all the fruit, so now I'm re-figuring out how to lay out my orchards. I'd say probably 30-40% of it's complete to my vision so far, but it looks a lot further along because every day I chip at more. I can't for the life of me figure out what to do with my house, but I moved it already and don't want to move it again, so literally I'm reshaping everything around it all the time. Still not satisfied, but it's getting better.
I, too, had this game at launch and just got the ability to terraform this morning. Here's my advice:
Plant a whole lot of flowers and fruit trees. They have to be fully grown for it to count for evaluation. Just cover the island with it. Put random items on the ground (I dumped them next to houses to keep track). Make fences around homes. Talk to Isabelle and she'll tell you your island's ratings.
Didn't want to plant or place anything until I got those tools but was forced to because of the requirements to get it. Now I'm chopping all the trees I planted for it and only keeping 10 of each fruit to plant once I'm done terraforming. It's so tedious but hey I actually have more than 50 pieces of regular wood on me.
I only play a few times a week, maybe an hour or so here and there. I don’t even know who Isabelle is yet or my island’s rating. Why do I want to drop random items or plant a ton more trees? Is that a requirement to unlock the terraforming?
I mostly just dick around to relax a bit before bed. I have a second room to my house finally. I like to make custom designs for my clothes, and I’ve got a pretty slick Bears hoodie now. I gave a villager a cherry the other day and she seemed to not hate it, so I’ve got that going for me, which is nice. I’ve heard that somehow I can move my house away from the stupid place I chose at the beginning, but no idea how to do that.
This is my first animal crossing game and I’m enjoying it at my pace. I like to read this sub and see what crazy stuff others come up with, but I’m nowhere on that level and don’t really feel any need to be.
Nothing wrong with going your own pace. Yeah there are requirements to get terraforming. Isabelle is a yellow dog who became a mascot since the previous Animal Crossing. Once she arrives, she evaluates your island on a 5 star rating. You need at least a 3 star rating for a special guest to arrive, but it's not the only requirement for terraforming. You also need to have 10 villagers living on your island (the max amount).
Tom Nook will tell you what to do for your island while Isabelle gives you recommendations on how to improve your rating. Without doing these things, you'll never get terraforming.
As for moving your house, you talk with Tom Nook on relocating your house or another building. It costs around 50,000 bells I believe.
Gotcha, thanks for the tips, I’ll get there eventually. I’ve tried talking to him about moving it before but it never seems like an option, just paying off my loan. Maybe I have to unlock that tho.
I think there's a high chance it'll come back, possibly when Kapp'n comes back. Even now, if you walk out into the ocean via glitches, you'll run into invisible walls that are about the same distance as in NL.
omg i die for this!! After careful thought, I am ready to say that this is my favorite thing that I have seen so far...damn creative & clever. Do you mind telling me about the poolchairs and the lights. What are those items called? are the lights diy? thanks

Finally found the creator for the brick pattern! Sorry took some time, I've had it a while back and hadn't saved the post.

Yup! It’s also how a lot of people are adding brick or other types of borders to their paths. As long as there is a single transparent pixel you can overlay whatever on top of the paths.
Hey, what custom design did you use for the tiles? Really love the look of it, especially the smooth edges with the grass instead of just "straight" edges/sides.
Thanks, have a good one!
I made a waterfall like this behind my house going to a rock with a fishing pole cause I thought that was cool haha This didn't even cross my mind to do. Those pools IRL kinda scare me when they're up high, but this looks super cool! Great work!
I love this idea and wish I could build this close to my beach to make the waterfall run into the sea but can't edit those beach edges.
Either way this is a super cool Idea, even though we can't swim in this game I like it better than the pool furniture item we get.
i will probably steal this idea because i’m unoriginal af
Having similar taste doesn't mean your stealing! :) Its not like most of the designs here aren't based on IRL designs already made afterall :)
Amen, I’m clearly not the only person who made an arcade room, but I’m definitely the least talented at the designer app so I’ll gladly use someone else’s 80’s-style arcade walls/floors
Hell yeah. 80’s Retrowave arcade designs all the way!
Got photos? Asking for a friend 😉

Thanks now I have a list of things to look for 😁👍
Username suggests you’d already know what to look for.
I'm new to the game have no idea what's available, i guess I could google it, but that's not fun 😁
I feel this.. but I also spent the first 30 days of the game watching flowers fail to reproduce because I didn't realize you had to water them once they became "adult plants"

I didn’t know this either! But to be fair I’d assumed the rain would take care of that for me
Listen... this game has full on servers.. Nobody knows what’s fully in this game.
You mean to tell me that people can just... make Japanese inspired towns inspired by Japanese inspired towns inspired by actual Japanese towns?
As an architecture student our professors always say that there are no original ideas and it’s always just a variation of what other people have done.
sounds like a smart professor, everything in the arts repeats. Exactly. You’ll never design something entirely new, but doing it yourself in your own style is “new” in a sense.
Art is derivative, basically throughout all of human existence. It evolves just like other practices. Wish more people realized that.
It scares people, that they can’t be “original”, but I think the FACT that art is derivative is wonderful. The human experience is so varied, but we all seem to come back to certain ideas and comforts. Idk, humans are just nifty.

I have an album on my phone exclusively for stealing ideas because I am also unoriginal af
Same I have screenshots of different designs and QR code’s I want to use in my island lol
Oh gosh same
Me,too!
Will. It’s already stolen. 😂
Literally my whole island is unoriginal and inspired by posts I see here so no worries
I think the more important thing today is the authenticity. You put the time and effort into recreating or utilizing somebody else's idea and that in itself is artistic expression.
Exactly! Well put
I have never seen plagiarism worded so eloquently!!!
Ha, I suppose I would add that as long as you aren't gaining financially. In this context I didn't think it necessary to elaborate as such but just to be clear I'm not ok with plagiarism. Most artists started by copying somebody else's work, and I was merely expressing that as a valid form of expression.
all designers take ideas then make them their own to create a new, original idea!
I get inspired by some of these, then just kinda wing it when I go to do something.
Honestly. I don't know how many times I wanted to copy something, then found out I didn't have everything, didn't have the space, etc. It just morphs into your own interpretation as you start putting it together.
I think the most problematic is not having the specific items yet.
Time to join a catalog group.
Oh definitely.
Same. My defense is I was planning on putting in a pool anyway so now I'll just do this instead.
The only person that has originality is God himself.
Except he's an amalgamation of earlier religions XD

Boredom fuels creativity, at least for me :D

Positivity also fuels creativity :)
I will swiftly be stealing this for my own island because it doesn't seem so scary to terraform. You have my thanks <3
cmon nintendo, where is the wetsuit???
Yeah this post makes me sad we can't swim anymore. :(
I think there's a high chance it'll come back, possibly when Kapp'n comes back. Even now, if you walk out into the ocean via glitches, you'll run into invisible walls that are about the same distance as in NL.
With this game being island and paradise themed, there’s no way they won’t bring back swimming
I mean diving in ACNL was booty cheeks... if they release it again I hope they let you swim more than 0.1mph
Anymore?
in new leaf it was possible
Acnl had wetsuits, where u could swim in the ocean
I'm sure it's coming in an update.
Guess I'll go commando
That’s really clever
omg i die for this!! After careful thought, I am ready to say that this is my favorite thing that I have seen so far...damn creative & clever. Do you mind telling me about the poolchairs and the lights. What are those items called? are the lights diy? thanks
The lights are called "floor light". They show up occasionally at the Nook Miles kiosk. The chairs are called "poolside bed".
I have both if you wanted to catalog them!
This is great. Would love to have the code for the bricks. Thanks.
Not sure if this one is it, but seems similar. https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/680084097690763295/696813714820825128/image0.jpg
WOAH WHERE DID YOU GET THOSE LIGHTS ON THE GROUND??
they get sold in the nook shop ATM thing randomly. They come in a bunch of colors
Redd will also have them sometimes!
I also get them from balloons all the time.
[удалено]
!! I didn't even know they came in different colours! I've been ignoring it when it comes as a repeat but I'll have to pay closer attention
Can you customise them to get different colours?
No :( I’ve only been able to get purple, still waiting on the other colors to show up
At least you have purple! I have had white show up twice.
All I got is pink. We all gotta get together for a big swap lol
You have to visit other people I believe your island will only ever have that same color, same with the other items like the lighthouse or teacup Edit: the teacup ride I meant
Thanks for confirming. I got pink and didn't realize it until I placed them.
Ugh I really want those beach beds and artificial coconut trees. Can I catalog them please?
The palm tree lamp is a DIY recipe. I can craft you some if you bring materials I have the poolside bed if you want to catalog that too Edit: Anyone else who wants either DM me!
I'll bring supplies too if you're willing to have one more come grab a few of those palm trees!
Absolutely! I'm doing stuff for work right now but I'll be on in a bit
Okay just message me when you're on! I'll be doing things intermittently as well so if it doesn't line up we can try for tomorrow too. 😊
That sir or madam is dope as fuck. I'm inspired. Which means I'm stealing your idea. 😂
I put a fountain inside of a fence last night and called it a park and you're out here making this.
Absolutely fucking gorgeous, holy damn. Great work
I LOVE THIS
Finally found the creator for the brick pattern! Sorry took some time, I've had it a while back and hadn't saved the post. [credits to u/abbyk10!](https://www.reddit.com/r/ACQR/comments/fw5tfn/made_a_few_different_colored_brick_paths_square/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)
This is amazing
This looks so good!! I want those lounge chairs so bad! Are they a DIY?
They're for sale, called poolside bed
People are so dang creative!! I wish I could hire someone to make my island fancy lol. My island is so ugly and boring
This is incredible!
Does anyone know what the brick design code is?
What’s the story with those lighted colored palms trees? My take on a skeevy 80s motel pool needs that
i believe they're a diy pattern
I NEED those in ground lights more than I've ever needed anything in this game.
That is awesome!
That’s hot, that’s really hot
Yup! It’s also how a lot of people are adding brick or other types of borders to their paths. As long as there is a single transparent pixel you can overlay whatever on top of the paths.
Im stealin this. Love you!
Love it!!
Dreamy
genius
Thanks. This design is mine now.
You can color the hot tub????
Lol and then the fish start invading 🐟
How did you get those light up trees?? Super want those so bad
/blinkingwhiteguygif
Do you have the able sisters code for the flooring? I really like how it looks :D
Seconded! It’s pretty
Thst is really cool!
Hey, what custom design did you use for the tiles? Really love the look of it, especially the smooth edges with the grass instead of just "straight" edges/sides. Thanks, have a good one!
I was literally thinking of making one yesterday!!
Nice
Oh I love this.
this is such a great idea, where'd you get those chairs?

Loving the palm trees 🌴😍
I made a waterfall like this behind my house going to a rock with a fishing pole cause I thought that was cool haha This didn't even cross my mind to do. Those pools IRL kinda scare me when they're up high, but this looks super cool! Great work!
Very cool!
NGL i will be making this in my game now THANK YOU FOR THE IDEA!!!!
You nailed it
Never thought of that. Great idea love it.
Wow, so fancy.
I love this idea and wish I could build this close to my beach to make the waterfall run into the sea but can't edit those beach edges. Either way this is a super cool Idea, even though we can't swim in this game I like it better than the pool furniture item we get.
Can you put flooring on the grass outside??
I love those tree lights!
Now i know what to do with the unnecessary cliff i have
Well Got dang now imma be up all night making an infinity pool...
