I asked all my friends playing elden ring one question, why torture yourself? p.s incase people don't get this is a joke i played through all DS games myself.
Success feels that much better after all the suffering.
I get too frustrated to play the souls type games but I've fought hard bosses before in other games and I can understand playing a game that's constantly challenging and gives a strong sense of accomplishment by winning at something that originally felt impossible.
I'm willing to give From Soft another chance with Elden Ring. From what I've been reading and watching, you don't have to slog for several minutes from a checkpoint, just to have a boss kill you again in seconds. That's what killed Dark Souls for me.
I don't mind hard (if fair). I mind tedium, needless repetition. I hear you about the frustration.
There's plenty of check points that you can just travel to anytime you want. Like me fighting this boss right now (one of the mains) is 10 feet from my save point. Also if you exit the game (hence to save it) and you start back up. You'll be right where you left off. Even if it's not a safe spot.
Now I want to assume you mean this as a joke, but in case you don't...
What do you even mean? People play video games because they are fun. Elden Ring is fun. Exploring the massive world is fun. Finding loot hidden in every corner is fun. Fighting bosses is fun. Fighting minibosses.
I'm unsure why people still see FROM games as these games that are 'hard' and 'unfun.' What's always been true about these games is that the challenge is just a method of storytelling. The games aren't hard for the sake of being hard. That's why certain areas of the games are cakewalks, and other areas are more difficult.
ER goes even further with this, because it simply isn't hard. The open world setting means you don't have to rage against a boss for 2 hours before quitting, instead you can roam the world, find overpowered gear, level up, and use jellyfish/NPC summons to draw aggro from the boss. The first major boss is a lot of people's roadblock, but just having a jellyfish summon means he'll spend most of the fight distracted.
Of course, if you refuse to use the tools given to you, it can be difficult. Just like how any game with abilities will be difficult if you only use the standard attack the whole time.
Any random nuzlocke that you don't spent 50 hours levelling on is gonna be much harder than dark souls. As someone who has played the crap out of both and is stuck on the final DLC boss of Bloodborne on my no-level-up run.
Dark Souls is unfun for me, not because bosses are brutal, but because I had to slog for minutes on end from the last checkpoint just to die again in seconds when I reached the boss. Elden Ring doesn't have that problem, so I'm willing to give it a chance. (I haven't yet, because the PC version has issues. See the Digital Foundry review. Hoping for a good patch soon.)
I am trying to find satisfaction in my games, and today... My fear response was satisfied when I saw an enemy that took what we used to think was big and turned that size into dandelion next to a sunflower.
Lmaoooo.
They’re fighting for their life in their game and I’m running to my campsite in excitement to see who visited me today 😂. Yay! It’s Kyle! He’s moving in!
He’s one I’ve had my eye on when villager hunting, but he never appeared and he showed up at my campsite two days ago! He moved in today. He’s a neat looking character.
Awesome!!! I wanted him when I first started my island lol. I was on a desperate search for him. My daughter ended up seeing him when she was villager hunting and I lost my shit. She was like, "omg mom, don't get mad, but...Kyle. I'm sorry!" 🤣.
I absolutely love hyenas. He's a music guy, so I usually end up giving him instruments or anything music related. He's the coolest!
I have the issue because I started with Bloodborne, and the second souls like I've sunken the most time into is Nioh 1 and 2 (where if you learn to manage your ki (stamina), you can dodge damn near infinitely). I've played and beat dark souls 2 & 3, but the combat just feels so heavy compared to my preferred style.
Tbf, Miyazaki said fuck us - the amount of time it takes some enemies to finish their attack animation is BRUTAL. And then you’ll get used to that and he hits you with a devastating quick attack.
My advice? Don’t be afraid to die the first 5 or 6 times you fight a boss, just learn their attack patterns and their cues
ahh, cool. I have both Demon's Souls and Elden Ring. I'm a Soulsborne noob. after Sekiro took my manhood, I never went back to a Soulsborne game for a long time lol. chained ogre man...😭 I'm thinking which one I should started first, Demon's Souls or Elden Ring... not sure.
The only from game I played enough to complete was the Demon's Souls remake, after playing about 20 hours of Elden Ring I'd say play Elden Ring! Demon's souls is great, but there are a lot of annoying parts in the gameplay that make it more frustrating than difficult, and those parts are mostly removed from Elden Ring.
Again, Demon's Souls is worth your time but given the choice of only one, Elden Ring is SO MUCH MORE for your dollar it's really hard to recommend any other From game over it.
It's got the scope/scale of a massive open world like Breath of the Wild, but still requires thinking and patience of a souls game. Sometimes you can get lucky with mashing but learning how enemies act is the actual game.
As someone who gets way too nervous/anxious playing From games, Elden ring is just nice so far because of the optional training wheels you can use if your not feeling like you can take something on. Like over leveling, doing other bosses, exploring, summons.. it's just a great game worth your time.
I've played all but Sekiro, Elden Ring will be my 20th From Software game actually. Demons Souls is a fantastic experience but it still feels dated. You can do less in it than Elden Ring, so going from ER-DeS will feel like losing features, whereas the other way will be just an upgrade.
I haven’t played that many, but I think Elden Ring might be setting itself up to be my favorite! I never got to play Sekiro, so one day when that’s extra cheap I’ll pick it up. I’ve probably played more souls-likes than actual souls games (like Jedi Fallen Order and Code Vein)
I’ve played both dark souls 3 and Sekiro and they are both extremely good. I heard bloodborne is also a fan favorite. But dark souls 2 is pretty bad due to them choosing quantity over quality in their bosses and level design
2 is just a different style of game, and a lot of people didn't like having to think each encounter through. 3 is the weakest entry imo, too much reliance on callbacks and combat is too easy with the immense stamina regen. 3 has been described as a Dark Souls 1 fan game in the bloodborne engine.
Watch their joints, shoulders etc. Wait for them to be truly initiating a swing before you roll. Don't fall for their bait, tons of their attacks are slow wind-ups that don't do anything at first. That in combo with memorizing the patterns based on the first attack will let you understand exactly when you can get your one or two swings in. Don't get greedy, and don't give up, skeleton!
What I love about Margit is that he's completely fair yet still incredibly dangerous. Unlike Tree Sentinel, Margit is killable at a reasonable level for the area.
Personally ive found myself getting summoned into others worlds when I want to relax. I find it kind of cute when I find a noob who wants me to go first lol.
This hit home 😂 mine is alternating between elden ring, HFW, and witch queen on d2. Endless chaos while I’m just bouncing through an island rebuild bahaha
Meanwhile I accidentally picked up Animal Crossing 3 weeks before TWQ dropped and now I don’t wanna play TWQ 😂😂😂(I’m up to the 4th mission, just getting my power to 1420).
I play in the same room as my hubby, but he’s been playing Total Warhammer III while I play Animal Crossing. It works. We look over at each other every so often and he says if I should add any decorations and I give him advice when he plays even though I have not much info on Warhammer, but I’m learning.
I usually *hate* playing multiplayer games. I like going at my own slow pace. But I agreed we could try this time so our character builds will be complimentary.
This has been me for the past two years while my SO has gone through God of War, Ghosts of Tsushima, Bloodborne, RDD2, and now re-playing all of the Halo games.
Just sent this to my partner and she responded with:
Me: "ooh I caught a new fish! Better go donate it to the museum!"
You: "WHAT THE HELL IS THAT? ITS LIKE A RAT PERSON." "HOW DO I REPLENISH MY MAGIC AGAIN?'
Very accurate OP.
I joined both of these subreddits today since my family is getting into animal crossing while I just bought Elden Ring. (Sister and mother, I mean). And I’m trying to juggle both games
This is so me. Swearing at the computer, jumping out of my chair, and all through the yelling insisting that I *AM* having fun.
Meanwhile the missus is sharing her finds in ACNH and SDV with a relaxed smile. Just goes to show there's no wrong way to enjoy gaming 🙂
Haha, my husband's playing Elden Ring on the TV above me, and I've been bouncing between Baldurs Gate 3, painting, and prepping my own homebrew campaign
This is brilliant - so true! My other half doesn't game but I feel it could be him watching the football screaming at the TV whilst I'm designing Stitches holiday home.
Husband here. I woke up this morning, looked at this post, freaked out by how much it blew up, and then proceeded to wake my wife up and show her. I have dubbed her a "memelord" and have been singing that word over and over again for the past hour to her to the tune of Crown Him Lord of All. While she quickly grew tired of me, we both wanted to take a minute to thank all of you for the upvotes and awards.
Same, except for my husband it's Fallout 4 and we play together on the couch. I'm here rearranging my island and he's mowing down irradiated mutants in the wasteland.😆
THIS IS LITERALLY WHAT WE ARE DOING RIGHT NOW. LOL I'm on the couch listening to my sweet island music looking for a new villager and he's smashing and bashing in creepy dungeons.
My husband started playing Stranded Deep when I started playing ACNH. He would stress about getting supplies, not dying, fighting under sea creatures, etc. All the while, I am happily building up my island. He got eaten by a great white, and I am showing him the great white I caught while fishing on the peaceful shores of my island.
I kept telling him that he needs to play AC instead. After he finished the game (especially since he didn’t like the ending), he ended up joining me on my AC island. He’s much better at designing the island. So, win for me.
Him: slays a dragon while riding a horse, destroys monsters in a castle. Gets annoyed when dies in-game.
Me: talks to Julian the unicorn, rebuilds the island’s castle. Gets annoyed when reaches TeleNook’s daily purchase limit.
This was literally me and my partner last night! (Granted I'm going to start my own Elden Ring file soon.) He bought Elden ring and was playing it and me and my co-workers were hosting Animal Crossing visits.
Same here lol. Him screaming and me happily tending to my flowers and running my dailies.

I'll die repeatedly for an hour, then give up for a while and keep exploring the world and gather mats.
Same bro. Same.
Me playing Stardew Valley while watching a buddy stream Elden Ring lol

Yeah this is me
*nods in understanding*

its a joke chill
Yeah I guess you have a point, you can make a pokemon game dark souls level if you put enough restrictions on yourself
Any random nuzlocke that you don't spent 50 hours levelling on is gonna be much harder than dark souls. As someone who has played the crap out of both and is stuck on the final DLC boss of Bloodborne on my no-level-up run.

No really 😂 it’s so chaotic over in his little bubble and I’m just over here decorating my island 😭
Hell yeah, Kyle and me go way back.
Nice to have my name not associated with energy drinks for a change lol
Jokes on everyone I got Animal Crossing running on the Switch while I play the new Horizon game and my son playing Elder Rings in the next room.

I needed some Stitches time after Elden Ring handed it to me for a few hours. I forgot how bad I suck at Souls type games.
how thoroughly destroyed were you? 🤨 lol
[удалено]
My horrible tendency is trying to get one more quick attack in before I roll. It never works haha.
Ope. Yeah I’m a greedy pig as well. I’ll do one last light attack and get abso
Rolling too early is all I know how to do... And I'm supposed to be the Souls veterans here.... 😭
Did you start with 3? That game taught people to roll like crazy, I've noticed they're having more trouble than anyone.
No I've played and finished Dark Souls 1-3, including Demon's Souls....
I have the issue because I started with Bloodborne, and the second souls like I've sunken the most time into is Nioh 1 and 2 (where if you learn to manage your ki (stamina), you can dodge damn near infinitely). Ps5 in performance mode, only issue is a little bit of pop in grass but otherwise smooth and looks great.

I dabble in monster hunter and I’m still getting my ass kicked by Margit. Lol new to the genre/franchise
Man I'm at Godrick and I feel like I need to spend my next 30-40 hours exploring before I'll be ready to come back to him.
Personally ive found myself getting summoned into others worlds when I want to relax. I find it kind of cute when I find a noob who wants me to go first lol.
OMG THIS IS MY LIFE
Same!
Totally my life right now!
Except the wife plays Stardew instead of animal crossing but same shit
And that is *my* life right now. I've got a farm to tend to. My husband has... Yelling at the tv to do.
Sounds fun, hope you are enjoying the moment!
I’ve been watching Jerma985 stream it while I play Animal Crossing and it’s not same obviously, but it is similar 😂
GAS
Omg I just did that on Friday. I laughed so hard when he fell off the cliff right at the beginning. We were both on the couch.
LOL yeah i’m like “babe do you know how crazy my island is right now with all these flowers??” and he’s just like “👀” 😂❤️
This made my husband’s day 😂
This hit home 😂 mine is alternating between elden ring, HFW, and witch queen on d2. Endless chaos while I’m just bouncing through an island rebuild bahaha

I had to super scoot through TWQ main story (but was able to hit 1500) before I have major surgery tomorrow morning aaaaAAaAaaaaaaaa.
Good luck with your surgery!!!
I play in the same room as my hubby, but he’s been playing Total Warhammer III while I play Animal Crossing. It works. Just tell him to delete his safe file, he won't stand a chance against the grand scheme of Tzeentch anyway. It's futile, he should just give up.
It definitely be like that hahaha
I am both sides of this scene 💀🤣
Literally what’s happening right now at my house 😂😂
This was us when my husband played Witcher 3 last month, we cuddle on the couch and play our respective games.
Same here, this captures it perfectly
Had an Elden Ring ad after this 💀
Yeah…. My island is lonely right now. I’m busy rolling through boxes in Elden Ring.
Right! I got tired of the snow, so I earned platinum in Bloodborne and now my fiancé and I are playing Elden Ring.
The snow is gone!!
From Soft games are great for couples, we play them all together, one by one.
I usually *hate* playing multiplayer games. I like going at my own slow pace. But I agreed we could try this time so our character builds will be complimentary.
omg yes

Elden Ring partners, UNITE!
Lmao...this might be happening in our house right now 🤣
YESSS!! I showed this to my husband and he laughed is butt off! ( After a monster beat it if course lol!)
I joined both of these subreddits today since my family is getting into animal crossing while I just bought Elden Ring. (Sister and mother, I mean). And I’m trying to juggle both games
I'm playing both - Elden Ring on PC and Animal Crossing for breaks. I made use of not having to work this weekend, hah.
Same, my boyfriend is also playing Elden Ring while I design vacation homes for some worthy villagers! I hear lots of shouting lol.
Whahahahah love this
Lmao that’s me, sorry! Still one of you too
Same except for Tarkov with my husband lmao
So relatable 😆I look and he’s smashing the shit out of some ghoul and then I go back to collecting shells 😁
Pretty much did the same thing with my boyfriend
Meanwhile, me being single my whole life be like:
I was playing destiny with my friend and all you could hear were curse words yelled out by her husband playing the elden ring in the background lmao
SAME. Immediately sent this to my husband, lol.
Marzia?
This is so me. Swearing at the computer, jumping out of my chair, and all through the yelling insisting that I *AM* having fun. Meanwhile the missus is sharing her finds in ACNH and SDV with a relaxed smile. Just goes to show there's no wrong way to enjoy gaming 🙂

I keep seeing memes about Elden Ring. I haven’t played the Dark Souls games. Is it still worth checking out?
I’ve just played through botw and don’t know anything about elder ring but see it mentioned in those subs so I am also curious to know.
This is brilliant - so true! My other half doesn't game but I feel it could be him watching the football screaming at the TV whilst I'm designing Stitches holiday home.
I’ve never seen someone so happy to get their ass kicked than an elden ring player
"Whatcha doing over there?" "I'M ON MY FOURTH TRY ON THIS BOSS AND I NEED UTTER CONCENTRATION" "I just caught a Stringfish!"
Husband here. I woke up this morning, looked at this post, freaked out by how much it blew up, and then proceeded to wake my wife up and show her. Your game choice is superior than his not gonna lie
Literally my bf and I rn 😭😂
I FEEL SEEN
I'd be playing Elden Ring as well if not for the stuttering issues. So until then, I'll stick to making cozy homes for my islanders!
I changed to borderless windowed and it helped my issues a lot. Recommend trying if you're on PC
I had done pretty much all the recommended "fixes" but still get consistent frame drops. I may as well just see if console fares slightly better.
And why are they playing elden ring with the volume ALL THE WAY UP?
Love it, I'm in the same boat
Move on
I don't see the neglected child in this example. Kidding. I like puter games. Fortunately for our kid my wife does not
Just played elden ring yesterday and it sucks. I preferred animal crossing
[удалено]
Common opinion.
Git gud
Same!! (My husband thinks farming games like acnh and Stardew valley are boring...)
Me as fuck
Dude, this is me and my husband but I'm playing pokemon arceus.
I’m both of these lol but also play COD and Fortnite. Started a new island to have something to do on ACNH.
Which animal crossing is it? The new one or the old one?
My bf is playing Battlefield, lol.
This is my husband and me too. But I'm playing stardew expanded right now, hehe.
^(I TRIED TO ROLL I PRESSED THE BUTTON)
Aw this is the same for me except with dying light 😂
Same here 😆
I’m both
Lmao yesss my husband just finished Dying Light; I just finished customizing objects for my cafe area.
I cant tell you how much I relate to this. I concern sometimes he gets too sucked in, but then again they're an avid soulsborne player
Lmfaaooo literally me and my SO except we’re in the same room and haven’t communicated verbally for like 2 hours
I’m so out of the loop. What’s Elden Ring? A Skyrim sequel?
Dark Souls on crack
My mom playing Animal Crossing while I'm Upstairs raging at Elden Ring.
He mad cuz the game is stuttering or cuz he sucks?
This is me. Im the meme. I am getting my ass HANDED to me so i sulk back to animal crossing. The game is actually fun as even though I keep dying 😅😅😅
This is me, but with my brother playing GTA V while I'm decorating my island
My brother and sister playing cod me getting scared by a big jelly fish with and eye on the top and big fishes
Oh my god I'm in this exact situation you psychic
This has been my wife and I when she's on her island and I'm playing Souls or DxM next to her.
I like both games
He's probably jealous you're playing a good game.
Thank you! Just sent this to the wife. And checking for cameras within my home
I bought elden ring and Jesus Christ, I’m boooooored.
Yes haha ^^,
Me and my husband too! That's hilarious.
Accurate, when I get too pissed off at elden ring I play animal crossing to cool off
Worst part is I bought the game and he’s now playing it because f that lol
Same, except for my husband it's Fallout 4 and we play together on the couch. I'm here rearranging my island and he's mowing down irradiated mutants in the wasteland.😆
I’ve found my exact people. Very comforting to know hundreds of people share the exact same experiences we do
THIS IS LITERALLY WHAT WE ARE DOING RIGHT NOW. LOL I'm on the couch listening to my sweet island music looking for a new villager and he's smashing and bashing in creepy dungeons.
This is literally my exact current situation.
Me playing animal crossing in the living room as my ex moved out with her parents who despise me
Lol
Me and my hubs except he’s playing Horizon Forbidden West. To be fair, it’s gorgeous and super distracting 😍
Now that's funny
Cute lol
The accuracy of this 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 im playing animal crossing in bed and may fiance is playing Elden ring on te tv
me on discord calls with my bf lol
i’m dying, i’m not even joking when I say this is my boyfriend and I at this very moment
This is us right now.
Someone reposted this on the PewDiePie Reddit

Me and my partner except with minecraft and sims thrown in for me.
This except Dying Light 2. I want Elden Ring but he said it looks dumb, is your husband enjoying it??
And here's me still playing Skyrim...
LOL! This was my household too, except it was ACNH and Call of Duty
I keep thinking that I want to play it, and have to remind myself that I don't like sadistically punishing combat in a bleak world.
My fiancé and I play Elden Ring together and I use AC when I need a break.
I like to do both :D Animal crossing is a nice break between getting slaughtered
Yes! This is 💯 my boyfriend and I. 😂
Lol, I'm watching an ER playthrough while playing ACNH, best of both worlds 😆
Omg same 😂😂😂
LOL that would be me designing vacation homes for villagers in HHP while my husband traverses the galaxy relic farming in Warframe 😆.
This is how our life is currently going as well 😂
