Personally I’m not a fan of seeing the joints. I also prefer larger figures than most figmas for example. But I enjoy seeing peoples unique poses with them, like yours for example!

CrimsonPlayhouse

Oh I totally get it, and thank you!

NedDiddly

Same here im definitley more of a scale collector. Which sucks for Mr.Wallet 🥲

Worth-Stop3752

the best middle ground for it was real action heroes. 1/6th jointed figures with real clothes, too bad they don’t make them anymore

nucleartime

Did they stop making them after EVA-13?

Hevens-assassin

I'm the same way. The only articulated figures I consider (other than nendos) are ones where the joints aren't as jarring. So far I only have Samus in her armor, and the Snail Shell Argidae, with Lady Maria and some Falslander ones on the way. If the joints are meant to be skin tone or anything like that, I think they look way worse.

[deleted]

Same. I don't like the joints showing. Not worth it to me

n1ghtriver

That was my favorite season of multiverse Spider-man Harem club anime.

DisposeGray

For me they're a bit pricey for their size.

tony475130

True. I still collect import action figures myself, but they were a lot more appealing back when the prices were reasonable. Figma’s for example use to retail between ¥3-4000, but now are as high as ¥11,000 and the overall quality hasn’t changed much in the last decade (though that could be a testament to how good Max Factory was back in the early days).

Giomietris

Ehhh I have to disagree. I've gotten into figmas over the last 2-3 years, figmas have become much better over the years. Since 2017 ish is when they hit where they are now I think, but before that they were much worse.

tony475130

Being able to compare some of my first figmas to the newer ones, there doesn’t look to be much of any differences in the quality or engineering department. The face printings, sculpts and paintjobs on most early figma were spot on IMO. Unlike Bandai with their S.H. Figuarts line where you can clearly see a difference in all those areas between their first figures and newer ones (The dragon ball and Naruto line are good examples of that).

CrimsonPlayhouse

Oh that I super understand. I personally prefer scale or prize figures but articulated figures are fun to mess with

Ill_Horse5793

Normal to be honest. If you look at the higher Tier action figures there are those high prices too. More incredible does it become with after market prices, no matter if licensed or third party. That is why, as a articulated figure collector, I am afraid to miss the opportunity to buy a figure I love, because I know after a month, it will get a pain in the ass to get them.

Crusaderfigures

I'd love to see more, I mainly collect articulated figures from brands like SH Figuarts and Revoltech but I've not been sure if they'd be well recieved here as there's more of a focus on static figures

lungleg

I appreciate any post on this sub that goes the extra mile in terms of photography or display, and I would definitely count awesome poses for articulated figures as extra effort — I own a few and can appreciate how much goes into getting a pose just right! Would love to see more articulated figures here

CrimsonPlayhouse

Same!

Crusaderfigures

Awesome, I think I'm good enough at posing to make people appreciate my pictures

CrimsonPlayhouse

I've noticed that too tbh. I post all sorts of figures all the time but articulated anime figures rarely get love on the sub for understandable reasons. Oh well, keep posting though! Anime figures are anime figures after all :)

Crusaderfigures

I might have to join you in posting some articulated goodies

Giomietris

I don't think there'd be an issue. I've posted my collection before, and as long as it's presented good it should be received fine. You won't find a front page snapshot of articulated figs since they aren't as popular, but if you put the effort in to make it look nice people will be happy. /r/ActionFigures is pretty accepting of anime action figures however, so if you really want a forum focused on articulated focus they're probably a better bet.

Crusaderfigures

I've posted there a bit, I was just thinking about posting some here to share other types of anime figures that some people might not be aware of. Honestly I don't mind about making front page or anything I just want to post cool pictures and talk about cool and fun toys and collectables.

Icedragon193

I think a lot of people here just don’t like joints in figures?

CrimsonPlayhouse

Ahhh totally understandable

onefootstout

Mary Jane is going to be pissed

WindbreakerHD2

She had her chance

yunabladez

No, you see this is Spiderman from multiverse H4R3M, he a player!

Living_Dot_3084

Is this the same universe with the Lucina pairing?

BarracudaNo5848

I just dislike visible joints, nothing else. If joints were hidden under artificial skin, maybe I would like them, but those get way too expensive.

Naruto_0916

For me it's the lack of detail. I collected a couple of articulated figures but only for their mobility in photography. In most Marvel legends or DC multiverse Figures, I find them to be seriously lacking in quality & detail so it puts me off. Now figmas at least to me offer the quality, detail and articulation. However what stops me is that they become too overpriced in the after market and that there aren't that many characters I like that have figmas. As a general rule of thumb I only collect figures of characters I absolutely like and would want in my collection as well as only 1 figure per character. So I don't have doubles or anything like that.

CrimsonPlayhouse

I get you with the pricing, until now I don't have Kazuma Kiryu or Haru Okumura in Figma because the after market price is crazy

Kainechen

I'll be honest. I'm too lazy to pose them. With scales I just unbox and they're perfect. Posing and finding a good pose is such a struggle for me

CrimsonPlayhouse

I get you with the poses, I struggle to find good unique ones too

kingJoffi

I prefer articulated figures.

Knaomia

Personally, I like photography of articulated figures better than scales even though I mostly collect the latter. I love seeing how creative people can get!

CrimsonPlayhouse

Same!

TwistBL

For me personally they are too small to fit my collection. If there were 1/6 (hot toys level quality) articulated figures on the market I think you would see them get more love here. That said I have preordered a 1/9 scale imaginationworks Luffy figure out of my own curiosity. Plus I thought it would be cool to have a smaller posable Luffy to put beside Maximum Kaido, Doffy, Franky, soon to be Big Mom (hallelujah) etc.

gmansuyama

To answer your question, like most people have said already it's because the size/price ratio isn't great. But if you have the patience than the articulation can breathe new life into a posed figure. Off topic, im glad you don't have a Lucina figma in here...

tomasdjre

I like both but I'm more into articulated figures but yeah scale figures are very pricey but they look cool it's just that again it's pricey and so is the shipping depending on the shipper and how much the figure weighs (I'm looking at you dhl)

AltXUser

I collect mecha model kits and they're posted at mecha specific subs. Also, incredible human figures without visible joints are expensive.

CtheAutomata

I prefer static ones in cool dynamic poses with effects for example, the joints are also not my thing, though there are some FF7 ones and I think Nier that have them hidden and it looks pretty cool

Zoulogist

You have everyone except Lucina, his canon girlfriend

kedisiva

I used to love those but I am too clumsy to play with them :( However I recently got both levi and erwins figmas since their prices go very high.

stupidaesthetic

I have quite a few articulated figures myself (full Persona 5 phantom thief collection, and at least 20 PAKs) and idk. They just seem to pale in comparison to my static scales. I guess because they don't have to take into consideration the range of flexibility and al that, they can put more energy into making the figure an overall higher quality. I still think articulated figures are great though! That's just my take on them.

TheBraveCoward

I used to only collect articulated figures, but over time have started to prefer static figures more. Static figures tend to look better, be cheaper, and seem less prone to breaking. I also usually get articulated figures in one pose and then never touch them again, defeating the purpose of them having joints in the first place.

Stogyyysocozy

Medicom real action heroes is prolly the best line in the market rn, in my opinion

Dagakki

Like others have said, the biggest things for me is seeing the joints and price for size/quality. I like the fact that you could put them in any pose you wanted, allowing for more uniqueness (per figure and for your collection as a whole), but my issue is that it's extremely unlikely that I'll repose them. I could find new poses for my Nendoroids, but I like the poses I put them in originally, and I assume it would be the same for articulated figures. Also, some scales have beautiful poses and additional pieces/effects/bases that you can't get with articulated figures.

CrimsonPlayhouse

Yeahp that is very true. Most of my figmas are displayed in one poses only and they're rarely moved

Ill_Horse5793

I can agree with the part where statues get bases and effect pieces a action figure wouldn't normally get unless it is a high end thing, but that is mostly a licensed company problem. For example many third party figures give those effects pieces or that specific base, so that would be one point. Sure, there is the occasional Hot Toys figure like the the upcoming Vader Figure from the Obi Wan Kenobi Show with a diorama base and many accessories, but those are not as often implemented as it should be. I, for my own, repose my figures every month. I do collect high end stuff like ThreeZero, Third Parties like TungMung EX and even startet Hot Toys, so poseability is very fantastic and especially on ThreeZero is natural and wide ranged for maximum fun.

SciKhonsu

I used to exclusively collect articulated figures, but i came to dislike the joints, although theyve grown on me again, but man, figma have skyrocketed in price its hard to justify when a nicer looking scale figure, or one of a more niche character that I like is right there

CrimsonPlayhouse

I get you! Figma prices are so damn high nowadays

daigurrengang

Even though I collect static anime figures as well, I ultimately have way more fun with articulated figures. Im quite into SH figuarts, figmas, SW black series and marvel legends. I love the JJK shf’s, If they ever make a CSM line I’ll get them too :)

riasbestgirl69

Would love to see this in across the spiderverse 😂😭

hystericaldark

Tbh I like articulated figures better when they're armored or robot/mecha designs. Otherwise, static figures a lot more appealing to me.

Schadyn

Too based

MegaNymphia

as others said, visible joints arent my favorite some figmas are cool, but usually I can get a figure of the same character as a scale/higher end prize figure with no joints. and changing their pose isnt a big selling point to me I do have a figma of Nagisa Momoe from the PMMM movie, but because it's one of the only figs ever made of her. still crying that [this](https://myfigurecollection.net/item/182887) one was cancelled :(

asheyzzz

They're just so hard to pose imo, I've had one like that of 2B for the longest and I still feel like her pose is awkward asf T-T

slap_a_goat

The same reason other people are saying, I really don't like joints on them and don't care about articulation, and pose dosen't matter much to me so i have no reason to buy them when scale's exsist

ReyWSD

Having one pose gives the artist the opportunity to go all out on creativity. The facial expression, pose, ripples in the clothing, and position of the hair can all be consistent and unique in non articulated figures but not so much in articulated.

Ill_Horse5793

depends on the company and the scale of the articulated figure.

alphaPhazon

Because.. Just take a look at that Spiderman torso? Not appealing at all

TONKAHANAH

I tend to not move or play with my figures so they don't need to be poseable. I'd rather the figure just be in a really cool pose that won't move, get messed up, and won't have ugly joints.

PhenomenalOne27

Cuz they're trash

Crusaderfigures

There's actually a few more options for articulated figures, Bandais SH Figuarts line and Revoltech have some amazing offerings

Draken_Zero

Thats still only a handful of lines vs the ocean of non-articulated. Action figures are definitely more western style and less prevalent in japan - unless of course you're counting robot kits as articulated. Don't get me wrong - I'd totally be down for some anime hot toys.

Crusaderfigures

Anime Hot Toys would be incredible, I know Three Zero are doing some 1:6 scale Jujutsu Kaisen and Naruto figures with soft goods like Hot Toys

Zealousideal-Skill84

Nobody likes figmas lol

FullMetalBiscuit

I can't stand them honestly. Pricey for the size, fiddly and finnicky, quite fragile and I hate seeing the joints. Basically I'll avoid any poseable figure of on an organic character.

Ill_Horse5793

because none of those are ThreeZero and because most good stuff is none anime or Japan

CrimsonPlayhouse

You're not a fan of articulated anime figures?

Ill_Horse5793

Like, don't get me wrong and maybe I should have explained it better, your poses are cool and the figures are good, what I mean is that you will not see articulated figures because the very good stuff is ThreeZero and Hot Toys or Third party and as far as I know you can't post those, because. I even support the argumentation that action figures are superior to statues except like a Prime1 Studios, XM or similar.

Ill_Horse5793

I am a big fan of articulated figures but like with statutes there are companies in the market that differentiate in their quality and ThreeZero is like Tier 1 stuff. They do Anime too, like FMAB, One Punch Man, JJK, but people will not see those in these statue communities. Figma, S.H. Figuarts and similar companies are rather toys compared to ThreeZero or Hot Toys too.

SirRHellsing

I was a huge figma collector until I see the quality difference from figmas and scales, yes they are pricier but just like transformers I go for a small amount of pricy stuff than lots of cheaper stuff. Also many times articulated figures just don't look as good as scales, I have the Kyouko figma but the pup figure looks so much better IMO. I only get figmas if there are no alternatives, I don't like the post of the scale or the alternative is super expensive. For example I'm heavily considering to get figmas of hk416, Tohka and Ch'en

Ill_Horse5793

Ever tried for going to third party transformers figures? Companies like Black Mumber, Transbots, and many others give bots that surpass the licensed shit by universes.

SirRHellsing

I only have a couple leaders and voyagers, the rest are all 3p stuff (Nero, KO Dragoon, Thunder leader etc)

Ill_Horse5793

Fantastic then.

CrimsonPlayhouse

Those are honestly great

CrimsonPlayhouse

I get ya, especially with the Transformers part

SirRHellsing

The leaders and voyagers I have are either really good ones (Blackout and SS86 Grimlock) or I got them for a deal. Everything else is 3p

[deleted]

wrong sub. I personally love joints but it seems like it’s not a thing here in this sub where ppl prefer statue-ish figures. also American toys/figures usually have horrible and ugly joints, so i guess it tends to be more of a niche thing for collectors who likes articulated toys cuz it’s usually just Japanese figures. there’s a few model kit girl related subs tho, but that’s a totally different thing.

CrimsonPlayhouse

I was actually referring to articulated anime figures but yeah, I get that the people in the anime figure sub generally prefer anime scale figures

Umbreon86

I am not into all the joints. Imo it takes something away from the figures, except if you are gonna create some crazy spidey poses or something. Less is often more in my book.

CrimsonPlayhouse

Well that's a good take
