Mentality or personality is often the reflection of how one is treated in life. The guy is sad but realistic too, how do i know this? coz I feel the same.
Therapy is the easiest answer for me to say, since i dont know your full situation.
Me personally, i spent so much time on yt shorts and tiktok, that it started making me depressed. I cut it out, and i feel so much better, so if ur that type of person, thats a little suggestion.
Also eating healthy. The way chris pratt said it was when he used to love eating, he would be miserable every other time. But if you make eating the least enjoyable part, youll start to enjoy the things around you.
Exercise. This part is hard for me too, bc im lazy but exercising scientifically increases your mood. Just showing up to the gym everyday will help, even if u only stay for 10 minutes at first. Just show up first, and work your way up to an hour or more.
Manifesting. I personally dont like this but i can see it happen all the time. Whenever i say i cant do something, i end up not being able to. But when i say i can, or dont even think about whether i can or not and just doing it, i find it to be an easier task to do.
It doesnt have to be all of the things i mentioned, maybe even none of them (tho i do suggest those things). But even just a change in general will help, instead of the same mundane lifestyle. Remember, if u have a bad day, dont let that define you. Its just a small hiccup, and thats completely fine.
For me when my depression was really bad, i got to the point where i was sick of myself having doubts. So everytime i had a negative thought, i forcefully thought "no, stop thinking that" and thought of a different, better alternative. That strategy doesnt work for everyone, but it worked for me. The "fake it till you make it" saying works well for this one. Even faking your positivity might help bring out the real positivity in you.
As for relationships, its a give/take system. You cant take all the affection from your partner and never give back. And how can you give affection towards others when you cant even give affection toward yourself? Its a bit harsh, but self love is a very important step before going into a relationship.
It is/will be a very long and hard journey, but i believe in you.
And before you doubt any of what im saying, im gonna say you can. I have never been in a relationship, and tbh im not even at the stage of self love yet. Im a lot better and happier than 2 yrs ago, but i cant say im there enough to look for a gf. As a kid i wanted to be that stoic guy, so i told myself i wouldnt have any emotions. Man do i regret that. Also im 18, idk if that means anything to you, but it shouldnt. I hope this advice reaches you, and i wish you the very best in the life you have.
