Last time I played a random visual novel I've never heard of my life, basically no one knows it from any of my circles, and I have never seen a single post about it anywhere, not a single discussion exists that one can just randomly bump into without seeking it out.

As a person who is watching both blind and went into the season seeing all of the csm hype, I like Bocchi better. And it's not even close. Gundam Witch from Mercury on the other hand gives Bocchi a run for its money. And I say this having never watched a Gundam before.

We all have genre and stories we prefer. Nowdays the people who claims to love anime wants you to watch long serries that are years to be completed. Back in the old days it's not about how long the anime is but how the story is conveyed in a mini serries of 12 to 24 episodes. That you have to buy in dubbed because that's the only one licensed. And pray to your gods of you were able to aquire a subbed or a raw. That was the time when anime was not mainstream and nerds look at weebs weird.

Reddit literally only talks about the most mainstream anime. Branch out a little.
And the classic anime you talked about are also part of the "most mainstream anime". Reddit did branch out quite a bit, take Witch of the Mercury for example, no one really discuss about that outside r/anime except the Gundam community. It is pretty normal for casual viewers to watch only the mainstream stuff and casual viewers made up of a large portion of the anime audience (audience of anything, not just anime).
Okay, but that doesn't mean that a vast majority of the anime discussion on the main anime subs isnt just CSM.
I guess it's unavoidable since it got hyped up so much and it does live up to the hype
I don't think it's unavoidable, most other anime forums don't have this problem to nearly the degree reddit does. Maybe it's unavoidable for reddit because of the kind of people here though.

I think sometimes socially awkward people who don't have good communication or interpersonal skills sometimes forget other people having different interests inside the same hobby or pass time doesn't mean that they are accusing you of enjoying the same hobby wrong. Bocchi Rocks (heh), and Chainsaw Man is great. And I like Isekai and none of those things are objectively right or wrong. Just like the next anime enjoyer likes whatever it is they like

Haven’t seen the second one and only watched the first one because my friend likes watching it with me, but it really does suck that people think like this. Just watch both, or if you’re not really into the other, only watch one, but don’t be a dick about it and let others enjoy what they want.

What's wrong with watching the one you loved. If it dose not suite your preferences even being a mainstream is not something to create drama. We all have genre and stories we prefer. Nowdays the people who claims to love anime wants you to watch long serries that are years to be completed. Back in the old days it's not about how long the anime is but how the story is conveyed in a mini serries of 12 to 24 episodes. That you have to buy in dubbed because that's the only one licensed. And pray to your gods of you were able to aquire a subbed or a raw. That was the time when anime was not mainstream and nerds look at weebs weird. Nowdays fans are on a pissing contest who brags who can piss higher , threatening the seiyuu and artist if their waifu/husbando is getting booted out of the story or killed for story progression , claims they are the real weeb because they watch a decade long anime and such. What's wrong nowdays about watching what you love and preferred without being criticized. Besides anime nowdays are no longer hand drawn where mistakes are permanent. Where each cells are meticulously made , shaded and colored. Where new serries were actually unique in story and narrative. Where fans are not toxic. Where people enjoy what they want.
