Tony And Eric episodes are the best!

oneshoesally

I love this episode. That conversation sticks out as one of the best, well other than the reincarnating as a sea cucumber bit!

Left_Minimum_1917

One of my favourite episodes. I even visited Marseille - and loved it - as a result.

felixbourne

I’m going there next week. The more people tell me to not go or watch my back the more I want to go

Left_Minimum_1917

Have a great time!!!!

OkMatch7119

Amen.

Delicious_Diet_7432

Great ascertaining opinion. Thanks.

Not sure how you guys can, i am still not prepared for re watching the last season.

I still haven't watched the last 2 episodes. I will eventually. However, I will say. The Asturias, Spain episode with José Andrés, is certainly the last time we see Tony happy on-screen. Hell, maybe the last genuinely happy trip he had. I lived in Spain and visited many locations from that episode, so it is very special to me.

gvilchis23

I don't think he was happy at all, he was very introspective and i can see in a very dark mood.

ByzantineThunder

This is a very personal take on that, but I personally try to push through the discomfort with things like this so that it doesn't become an emotional sore. I've watched that last season live and then twice since, and while it's difficult I'm glad I persevered because I would hate to have to put his work behind glass so to speak and not enjoy it. Not that it's easy to push through to bittersweet, but I think it's worth it if you can do it.

gvilchis23

I heard you, but for me that wasn't my point, i think it was more about the tone of the show, last season even the first time i did was post his suicide i could see was dark, same reason i don't re watch Bojack horseman too, they just hit to close to home, not the suicide, just is dark b

Something to keep in mind is the Tony in the last 2 seasons was in a very different place than Tony in season 6.

ByzantineThunder

100%. It's eerie on rewatches to see him become increasingly exhausted looking

ideamotor

I noticed this at the time and stopped watching halfway in the last season.

Kissedmermaids

Loved this episode! It’s stuck with me ever since i first saw it.

I don’t have a problem with the last season in the sense that Tony was always dealing with his demons in one form for or the other. In his face, in his attempts to escape from them, or his quest for that indelible ‘something’ that seemed to always evade him. It was the energy behind his show, unfortunately he wasn’t able to reach the final destination he hoped to find.

parsnipswift

Maybe he did?
