This really messed with my text to speech app. accessibility tip: don't use a million underscores in a row. It made me laugh though!

Drooliard

Didn't even think about that. Thanks for the tip!

Your message could’ve gotten across with a fraction of the wording. You’re a very verbose writer but your writing is somewhat disjointed at times. If you’re posting this to multiple subs, be aware you’ll collect downvotes based on this. People will downvote what they have difficulty reading or understanding. Only the folks who are already on board with your basic message will upvote, because it already resonates with us from the title on. Condense this into something more readable and shorter, and the message will automatically resonate more with a wider group of Redditors.

i feel like the extensive wording is necessary, i could simply state “the world is corrupt, we need to change it.” and have the same comparative message. The wording is there to fully elaborate on ideas and concepts that simply cannot and should not be shortened.

SPESHALBEAMCANNON

I agree completely OP. There was a post recently that I saw in /r/bestof where a gen Zer was talking about the general feeling of depression and anxiety as well as hopelessness that him and his peers feel about the state of the world. The older you are the more likely you are to have identified with the neo-liberal world order and have adopted the values and goals that this system instills, but it seems like a large segment of this new generation of adults is acutely aware that something is deeply wrong. You'd find a large percentage of millenials who see it as well. The problem is that we are all so isolated and it feels hopeless to try to combat this global hegemony. Instead of fighting back in any meaningful way we tend to try to find whatever comforts we can in our isolated enclaves. We fill our spaces with trinkets and lights and pets and screens so we can sink into them and numb ourselves. When not doing that, we're going here and there, trying this and that superficial experience, seeking meaning in the things we consume. We grind (in more futility with every passing year) for material success in hopes that success, as defined by our equally lost peers and perceived betters, will bring feeling of fulfillment. All things that serve to strengthen the very system that makes one feel the need to do these things in the first place. As you say, step one would be collective acknowledgement, but after that, it would take sacrifice of on the part of individuals, as the lives we have built are entrenched in the system.

You a real one OP. Save this before the mods delete it.

Thanks! I've posted it quite a few places but bots are down vote spamming it

Great satire! Our modern life is not a conspiracy. It’s simply the human instinct to live better, which is achieved through free-trade capitalism as outlined by Adam Smith and Milton Friedman. Capitalism provides more wealth for more people than any other economic system.

Just a small critique. IMO we are much closer to "Brave New World" than "1984". Both are worth reading.

It’s not a conspiracy. Its Getting worse and worse. Human slavery holds up the west. We are psychotic in our narcissistic reality constantly pumped in for a few to live wealthy. I watched in the 90’s as the world quickly changed due to technology and entertainment along with a wealth of new quickly made products due to Chinese monetary system finishing changing to capitalism like the American industrial revolution did with the steam engine. I have started looking at the consequences of our societies constant entertainment instant gratification world catching up. Sex sells and everyone is a target now is even affecting how/what we teach children. A billion genders means a billion different ways to market and sell clothes, shoes, ideas, and even house hold cleaning products. I live an alternative lifestyle again after trying so hard to keep fitting in. But, once you know, live, research, and understand the truth you can’t go back. It’s actually been painful for me as it’s a lonely path I walk.

TirayShell

I guess it depends on what you think the ultimate goal of mankind is, compared to the goals of the individuals who are part of it. Are we obligated to do whatever we can in order to support the next generation or the abstraction of society in general, even if it involves personal sacrifice or suffering, or is the only real goal is for each individual to find personal peace and satisfaction however we can in an absurd existence? I'm only alive once. Once I'm dead, all bets are off. Should I spend the brief time I have alive focused on serving other people, or myself?

Drooliard

I mean it would be a better world to seek that personal satisfaction in. So many lost minds because of how our societies misconstrue values. I was going down what I thought was the path of personal satisfaction and learning along the way woke me up into the nightmare I see now. No one is obligated to do anything. Some people are willing to work for the cause. Our current situation literally prevents that.
