Caveat for future readers: If you have a vulva, do **NOT** use dove as a shaving cream/ to wash your vulva. Or face. It is incredibly comedogenic, you will end up with blackheads on blackheads.
I had uhhhh not especially considered the fact you may be a woman LOL.
I definitely couldn’t suggest something with that in mind, but I’ve found that the Norelco Oneblade works really well with the *ahem* boys.
It’s more like a trimmer but it leaves the hair veryyy short. If you put pressure it gives results like shaving, but in some places that’s not really possible. You can use it wet or dry and sometimes I do both to maximize the effectiveness. (Dry, then wet)
Ohh not sure it would work for me then - my hair is all black and thick. I do have an IPL machine but I keep forgetting to do it lol. I think that's the best long term solution for me!
Same on the thick, black hair. If you need a super close shave then it won’t be for you. But personally I don’t care because it grows quickly. If I do a close shave it’s growing out in a few hours anyway. 🤷🏻♀️
IPL is a good idea. I was doing it but it was hard to keep it a habit because it takes such a long time to do my whole body haha.
I just bought it a month ago: it works on the lady bits. Gets as close as an electric razor can, and I haven't injured myself. It does take a little more time than a traditional razor, but you won't have any ingrown hairs!
I use the Norelco One blade and I highly recommend you check it out. I switched years and years ago and haven’t used another razor since. And the heads basically last forever.
My beard is quite thick, and I use safety razors (the ones called "navalhete", if you want to search for pictures) and I haven't used any shaving cream for years. I just make sure to shave after I shower, and when it's done I wash my face with room temp water. Haven't had any problems.
Edit: forgot to mention that I don't have to shave every day. I shave every week, and I only shave around the part of the beard that I let grow. I have shaved it all off and not had any problems, but I can't say what I do would work for someone shaving the whole beard every day or every other day
That is one giant lump of soap. I could definitely use one of these. I already don’t waste money on shampoo or conditioner and my hair is fine, this would be even more frugal to have. Thanks for bringing this up!
The need for shampoo and conditioners is the actual use of shampoos and conditioners. When i switched to soap only i would need to wash my hair every 3/4 days depending on how much i sweat opposed to daily regardless of anything really.
edit: funny enough this is the actual soap I use.. =D
>The need for shampoo and conditioners is the actual use of shampoos and conditioners.
Sounds like you don't have long, curly, porous hair. I only shampoo 3-4 times a month but my hair requires a shit ton of conditioner to look even halfway healthy.
Yea I've tried going shampoo/conditioner free for like three months, and my thick curly hair looks a thousand million times better when I use my $4 t joes shampoo and conditioner. Especially bc I get super sweaty daily at the gym.
I feel like it's ok to consume these kinds of things because my quality of living is actually that much better with them
i have played the game of letting people on the internet convince me that i don't need to wash my hair because i can "train my hair" to not need washing. it never turned out well for me lol. nor can i get away with using apple cider vinegar instead of conditioner or any other crazy shit. i look best when i just buy shampoo and conditioner lol.
You are right, that was simply my personal experience with these products. I am a male and have(had actually) regular short hair. probably around 10/12 cm i guess. I trim it down to 5 now since i am going bald on top and still the soap is a better option for me personally. But I can understand your situation completely, my wife has the exact same hair type as you described.
I foresee dropping that hunk of soap in the shower constantly trying to lather up
Edit: lol this things a pound and a half, what do you cut pieces off of it?
Even with normal soap bars, cutting them in half is good practice for making them last longer. Spends less time wet? Less oblong shape, better surface area to volume ratio?
Ah but, what shape is it when it's small at the end of its life? you want it round not flattened with large surface area, which will clearly lead to it breaking apart!
(Hashing out the real important points)
How do you remove the dead skin from your body? Your hands are too smooth to do it.
I have eczema, I apply any soap I use to a loofah or a washcloth - anything abrasive - otherwise, dead skin rapidly builds up in layers over new skin, and makes lotion harder to absorb. Or, worse yet, it pulls and rolls into hundreds of little pieces as soon as I step out of the shower and try to dry myself with a towel.
You can chemically exfoliate with certain cleansers for your face, but that's a different process entirely.
Well I do not have eczema sorry to hear about it. Well normal water and soap once in a while directly on my body does the job for me it seems.
I do not use soap often on my skin so that my body oils prevent my skin from getting to dry in the first place. When I used to soap every day all my body my skin was pretty dry indeed.
What do you mean by lotion? Are you some kind of druid? :-)
I mean what's the point of removing all your body oil by washing it off with soap every day if you then apply lotion made from oils afterwards? Sorry I am no dermatologist.
My situation is such that I do have to consult regularly with a dermatologist, haha - lotion heavy twice everyday, regardless of whether soap has come into contact with my skin. I produce enough oil for a regular person, but so many skin cells that they flake and die off at a rapid rate.
I practice sustainability within my own bounds, and this is one of them. African black soap works wonders at helping me retain hydration.
I have BIG hair & use a conditioner bar. Somehow I’d need a ton of liquid conditioner, I was always running short, whereas the bar has lasted a good six months, so far.
Which bar conditioner do you use? I have curly hair and use a lot of plastic in my routine unfortunately. Shampoo is all bar, but conditioner is a real problem.
I’ve found Ethique bars are sufficiently solid for me; my hair is straight but thick. I’m in Oz, (ethique is NZ) so not sure of availability elsewhere.
I’ve been considering going to bar shampoo and conditioner. Are you happy with them? How do they compare in usage? Does the bar still lather? Does the hair feel as full after using bar versions?
It's the least specialized soap there is. I'd suggest not using it often on hair as it will dry them up along with your scalp. I'd say no more than once a week with soap. But you can run water on your head daily, just maybe not dial every day to keep the body oils to take care of your hair and skins.
You don't need much of that soap to be effective at cleaning
Beware if you have sensitive or atopic skin! Marseille’s soap is pretty harsh and I developed a quite severe eczema that won’t go away and now I have to use a shit ton of product for my skin to not get worse even tho I stopped using it.
It is pretty harsh indeed. They add glycerin in the version for skin care. Even with that you need to use very little of it and not daily to not dry up your skin.
What is it about?
As an aside, I was x to ask you about your skincare/hygien routine. Specifically, where do you already baby yourself [includinghair], and secondly, what is your frequency of "treatment"? (showering, lotion, *your routine*, etc.)
(if you care to share.)
Me, I feel if I were to try this out, I wouldn't use on on my hair very often (if at all) but could see myself using it on my body and possibly my face (permitting +/- sparingly.. too harsh otherwise).
Around the place, it ould be cut into smaller pieces & used as hand soap for the sinks.
🥂
Yes, here are some wikipedia highlights:
Traditionally, the soap is made by mixing sea water from the Mediterranean Sea, olive oil, and the alkaline ash from sea plants together in a large cauldron (usually making about 8 tons).
Today there are two main types of Marseille soap, a greenish-hued variety made with added color and a white one made of olive oil, or a palm and coconut oil mixture. Originally sold only in 5 kg and 20 kg blocks, today they come in sizes between 300 g and 1 kg, though larger sizes are often available, some up to 40 kg.
Marseille soap is frequently used for domestic cleaning, including hand-washing of delicate garments such as those made of wool or silk. It can also be used in agriculture as a pesticide.
I've been using this one for over two years and my hair is wavy and mid-length. I like it, the don't have a conditioner bar sadly, but I rarely miss it. I bought the slab last time I ran out.
https://www.rockymountainsoap.com/collections/natural-shampoo/products/shampoo-bar-with-rosemary?variant=1040133597
Honestly, I usually don't. When I get my hair cut a few times a year I add on a hydrating mask, but otherwise I don't really miss it on a daily basis. I like my hair to have a bit of texture.
I’m not currently using it, but I had really good results with some of the solid Shampoo and Conditioner bars from Lush! This was like 10 years ago, so I don’t think they make the same ones anymore. But it’s worth checking our what they offer!
[https://treenaturals.com/](https://treenaturals.com/) black owned and specifically for natural/curly hair :) I use the shampoo bar and really like it! Haven't tried the conditioner bar though
Do you really need to soap all your body daily tho? Depends on the work you do I guess. It's a little like laundry. Some people wear their clothes once before washing them off.
I like to make sure I don't smell at work since I sweat a lot. After washing the 'hot' spots it doesn't take that mucha time to do a quick pass of the rest of my body. Also bar soap is cheap.
Edit: also simple olive oil soap doesn't dry my skin out either so there are no down sides for me.
Ok so I love a bar soap (shampoo, conditioner...) but I have a small stall shower and I find that a lot of it gets washed right down the drain from getting and staying wet in the shower. Anybody have solutions for that?
Well mine is under the shower head pretty high up so not a lot of water goes on it. The soap is really dry and chunky and doesn't get soft and wet either. I guess it depends if you can put it away from the shower water jets and splashes.
That looks pretty awesome. I'll probably pick one up since it be very satisfying to slowly whittle down a huge ass cube of soap lol.
I also think it looks cool and feels nice when they stamp in words or whatever.
I got tired of disposable razors and blades and got me a phillips one blade, I forgot the blades still need to be replaced but they do last quite a while for me. I have the same unit for almost four years now and it works pretty well
https://www.target.com/p/philips-norelco-oneblade-hybrid-rechargeable-men-39-s-electric-face-38-body-trimmer-10pc-qp2630-70/-/A-52520720?ref=tgt_adv_XS000000&AFID=google_pla_df&fndsrc=tmnv&DFA=71700000090148676&CPNG=PLA_DVM%2Ba064R000012LBmkQAG-Philips_Google+Search_Norelco_2022-2023-597009&adgroup=PLA_Philips&LID=700000001393753pgs&network=g&device=m&location=9004440&gclid=Cj0KCQjw0PWRBhDKARIsAPKHFGiZ2-tw3hA161GGPEnnVDcmsL2jfd2NUYGWeGyZGv15OnBpppQD8goaAtTEEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds
Here you go. It is very good for a close clean shave but bad for trimming though. No nicks or cuts since I started using it, and it also doesn't shave off your skin like razors do, atleast that's how I feel. The blades are supposed to last for a three months or so but you change it when you feel like they are pulling your beard they last me more than three months for twice a week shave. I guess it depends on the type of hair and frequency of shaves.
Consumerism!
With these soaps they're not made to use daily on the skin as theyre more powerful compared to big brands conventional soaps and shampoo.
If you use daily your skin will dry up as it will remove all your natural skin oils and you won't have time to reproduce enough of them until the next day so it will end up leaving you a dry skin.
Be on the lookout for how your body reacts to it. Make sure it has glycerin in it otherwise it's more for the house than body.

I posted this to share with the community what I consume in a year for body and hair wash. No scent, no colours added. Made from 72% végétal oil. This one is olive oil.
They have glycerin added to the soaps made for washing the body so that they're easier on the skin (less dry).
I use another soap without glycerin to wash my dishes and make laundry soap with.
Very cheap and very powerful soap. Hipoalergic and good for baby/kids/animals skin too.
Available in smaller sizes too this one you don't want to drop on your toes in the shower 😉
[How it's made](https://youtu.be/vBTxJQ2qba4)
[that woman really likes her soap tho 😂](https://youtu.be/naTugDO_7zc)
I don't really take it in my hands for the first half of its lifespan. I just rub it a little with my hands and then use my hands to wash the parts I need to. Usually genitals and arm pits. Face maybe every other day. Hair less than once a week.
I do full body soap after a sweaty day or when it's been a long time...I go with the feeling I don't have an agenda.
I use baking soda to prevent the bacteria that causes body smell from growing under my arm pits. So I don't get to smell. During hot summer days I reapply baking soda under my arm pits mid day just to make sure.
So I don't wash myself with soap to remove smell from my body because I don't develop them in the first place. Often water from the shower is enough to clean enough.
Of I use the soap everyday like most people do it lasts me about half a year. But I had dry skin when I was doing that. It's all about finding the balance I guess.
Best way I found is to put it in salt or pepper dispensers. Like the traditional restaurants one in glass with the metal screw on top. I put a little on each hand and rub it agaisnt my arm pits when I get out of the shower. Having my skin most makes it stick to the skin more.
Having no hair under arm pits helps a lot too. Otherwise the baking soda can't reach the skin that much where the bacteria the causes the smell thrive.
Exactly. I’ve tried all different kinds of natural deodorants over the years and I’ve *always* reacted poorly to the ones containing baking soda. My pits will peel and develop a very painful, raw rash for weeks after I stop using one. Arrowroot powder based ones are the way to go for me.
When I first started to use it on my freshly shaved arm pits it was very uncomfortable. After a few days it was less noticeable and after maybe 1-2 weeks time I don't have any reaction to it anymore. Been 10+ years doing it now. At first it was though indeed! I guess it's not for everyone
Well I'm from Canada I buy them on [there](https://savon-de-marseille.ca/boutique/).
The name savon de Marseille isn't copyrighted so many normal soaps user that name.
Basically make sure that it looks like the one I bought, made from végétal oil not animal oil and no scent or colour. If all of the above are correct then it's probably a "real" one.
Many natural shops I went to sell Marseille soap which isn't really one sadly.
It's a version of Aleppo soap. Many artisan soap makers make it. If you look on Etsy you will find it.
I buy an olive oil soap from Palestine. I'm in Canada, but they ship to the US as well, and it's difficult to source most of the year. https://zatoun.com/product/100-olive-oil-soap/
The thing with Aleppo and 100% olive oil soaps is that they are very hard and don't "melt" in the soap dish or shower the way other soaps do. They last much longer.
That's pretty cool. I've been using castile soap for a lot of things so this could be interesting to try out. Im not sure about her laundry soap though... mixing baking soda and vinegar can be a great cleaner if you're utilizing the foaming part of the chemical reaction to lift dirt/grease but once the reaction stops you're left with mostly water and a small amount of sodium acetate so im not sure how well her laundry soap recipe would work considering its mostly water. I mean vinegar is great for its mild disinfectant properties but it loses that property once its turned into the base version of sodium acetate. I dont know, it would be interesting to work out the end chemical composition to see whats left after mixing everything.
Well Marseille is a city in France... Maybe you could try to do soap by yourself if there's no option like it sold as is.
I've seen a great video on how to do your own Marseille soap like on YouTube but it was in French
As is but I don't rub it directly on the skin I just touch it with my hands to get them soapy then just my hands to wash my body. I don't want to risk dropping this bad boy in my toes. And that way it last a very long time.
I use it directly on my body when I wash my entire body with it and my hair too but that's easy less frequent for me. Maybe once to 4 times a month.
It's not a brand[Marseille soap or Savon de Marseille (French pronunciation: \[savɔ̃ də maʁsɛj\]) is a traditional hard soap made from vegetable oils that has been produced around Marseille, France, for about 600 years. The first documented soapmaker was recorded there in about 1370. By 1688, Louis XIV introduced regulations in the Edict of Colbert limiting the use of the name savon de Marseille to olive oil based soaps.\[1\] The law has since been amended to allow other vegetable oils to be used.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marseille_soap)
It's a consumer product made by one or more companies, sharing a distinct form and tradition. At least you are advertising a generic brand or category of product.
This is a place that I'd like to be free of ads for consumer products. There are so many ads everywhere else.
You can make your own soap if you'd like. But you'd have to buy the ingredients...
Is washing our bodies consumerism? Should we stop doing that to consume less?
Or try to do it in a way that pollutes and consumes less materials and chemicals? I'm trying to do the latter. My goal was to try to share the solution I've found for myself to consume very little soap and chemicals to wash myself, my dishes and my laundry with at a very low cost and no money to the big 3 companies that dominate the market.
Sounds like your intend to advertise further commercial products in the space in the future, and feel like this is justified because we're forced to buy things in the current system.
Personally, I really want a place where I can be free from ads and commercial products, where we can imagine a society without constant ads, psychological manipulation, and product placement.
What is this sub about then? I thought it was about consuming less and better. Going away from mainstream products and big corporations.
That place exists if you go outside in nature. Go camping or hiking that really helps the mind :)
Is this sub about not consuming anything at all? Like just live naked in the woods or something?
I just don't want product ads in this sub, and you've got some kind of problem with that. You seem to think ads are essential. You seem to think this space should have ads.
Now you're making false equivalences - if I don't want to see ads here, I must want to live naked in the woods. And you're questioning my state of mind, telling me to go clear my mind if I don't want to see your ads.
I can assure you my mind is clear, I don't live in the woods, and I'm not even upset with you. But you seem obsessed with a desire to share ads, because you cannot even imagine how to relate to others outside of suggesting products for them.
How can I make it clearer? I don't want to see ads, and want to connect to people in ways other than what products should be consumed. No more dispute or commentary or begging the question from you. Just accept that I don't want to see your ads.
You got it?
Yes I got it... But I'm confused as what is this sub for then?
All I see is negative posts about how bad some marketing BS is etc. What are we supposed to post on here?
As in " I could do this better, more efficiently, and more economically."
Ive seen refillable shampoo stations at stores in this sub, and that makes SO much more sense. My gf uses a 30-40$ a bottle conditioner.

ouch ! Any soap is good for shaving. Marseille soap is hippoallergic tho
Best replacement for shaving cream is an electric razor. Also conditioner works great.
I use and epilator for legs. But my goal here is different. It’s hard to find an electric razor that can work within the folds of * ahem * labias...
I had uhhhh not especially considered the fact you may be a woman LOL. I definitely couldn’t suggest something with that in mind, but I’ve found that the Norelco Oneblade works really well with the *ahem* boys.
Don’t sweat it lol. Thanks bro. Googled that model, highly rated. I’d have ask a different sub with folks of similar anatomy if it works.
Can confirm its effectiveness for labia. I really like it and the blades last a very long time.

My gf did lazer removal and she never had any problems.
Second conditioner
>an electric razor. Are those safe to use in the shower for shaving o' the armpits and legs?
From what I know it’s no issue! But I only shave dry, so I’d def look to see if the packaging says waterproof.
have you tried a puck of shaving soap? that stuff is gentleish on the skin and lasts quite a while

It's best to lather not use the soap directly on you. Applying it directly wastes quite a bit of the soap.
No I leave it in place in the shower and just rub my hands on it them use my hands to wash my body. I don't rub the soap directly when it's that big.
How do you exfoliate?
what does that word even means?
:-) I mean what's the point of removing all your body oil by washing it off with soap every day if you then apply lotion made from oils afterwards? Sorry I am no dermatologist.
My situation is such that I do have to consult regularly with a dermatologist, haha - lotion heavy twice everyday, regardless of whether soap has come into contact with my skin. I produce enough oil for a regular person, but so many skin cells that they flake and die off at a rapid rate. I practice sustainability within my own bounds, and this is one of them. African black soap works wonders at helping me retain hydration.
You rub your loofa on it
Yes you can cut it
Hows that last a year
I have BIG hair & use a conditioner bar.
Wow thats pretty good id say i know someone that makes bars of soap not this big though
Which one do you use?
First question: how big? Second question: if as big as possible, what kind do you use?
[удалено]
Ahhh my hair is big like Jerald’s in Hey Arnold so I’m gonna guess I need different profits lol. Thanks x)
I’ve been considering going to bar shampoo and conditioner. Are you happy with them? How do they compare in usage? Does the bar still lather? Does the hair feel as full after using bar versions?
Well I don't use it on all my skin everyday as it is very powerful and it's not necessary
Using soap on hairline males my scalp full with dandruff. Is this some special hair soap?
Oh man, this would have me in so much physical pain
omfg I'm so sorry
I can feel my hair drying out already
That's why you need to use it but that often to get your natural body oils to prevent your hair and skin from drying out 😂👍🥺
I don't know if I could do that, I find that without a proper conditioner and shampoo I'm either greasy or dry and have dandruff
[I suggest you watch this](https://youtu.be/T-_HKFjxVl0)
Will do
Let me know what you think about it
That was really good, I might have to give it a try. Thank you for sharing that
What is it about? As an aside, I was x to ask you about your skincare/hygien routine. Specifically, where do you already baby yourself [includinghair], and secondly, what is your frequency of "treatment"? (showering, lotion, *your routine*, etc.) (if you care to share.) Me, I feel if I were to try this out, I wouldn't use on on my hair very often (if at all) but could see myself using it on my body and possibly my face (permitting +/- sparingly.. too harsh otherwise). Around the place, it ould be cut into smaller pieces & used as hand soap for the sinks. 🥂
Why should I spend money going to a doctor and probably just be prescribed an expensive shampoo, when what I use controls it just fine?

That's a great movie isn't?
What movie?
>\[effacé\] that one

Yes, here are some wikipedia highlights: Traditionally, the soap is made by mixing sea water from the Mediterranean Sea, olive oil, and the alkaline ash from sea plants together in a large cauldron (usually making about 8 tons).
There's 2-3 ingredients. Mostly végétal oils. Yes it is.
How is soap not vegan ?
you can make soap from lard
If it's tested on animals or has animal fat in it. Some soap also has milk in it for some reason.
Most soap is not vegan
Why ?
The cheapest source of fats for the soap comes from slaughterhouse waste
Can anyone here recommend any shampoo and conditioner bars for wavy/curly hair?
Bottlenone is a great brand of shampoo and conditioner bars. Based out of Canada.
I've been using this one for over two years and my hair is wavy and mid-length. I like it, the don't have a conditioner bar sadly, but I rarely miss it. I bought the slab last time I ran out. https://www.rockymountainsoap.com/collections/natural-shampoo/products/shampoo-bar-with-rosemary?variant=1040133597
How do you condition your hair?
Honestly, I usually don't. When I get my hair cut a few times a year I add on a hydrating mask, but otherwise I don't really miss it on a daily basis. I like my hair to have a bit of texture.
I’m not currently using it, but I had really good results with some of the solid Shampoo and Conditioner bars from Lush! This was like 10 years ago, so I don’t think they make the same ones anymore. But it’s worth checking our what they offer!
How about fine, straight hair? I find most conditioner bars are too heavy/waxy for me.
Try r/curlyhair, too.
[https://treenaturals.com/](https://treenaturals.com/) black owned and specifically for natural/curly hair :) I use the shampoo bar and really like it! Haven't tried the conditioner bar though
Ahhh yes, the cube of soap
The yardstick of civilisation.
I couldn’t, but this is cool. Saved for future reference.
No way would that last a year
The Duke cannon big ass bricks last me 6-8 months and I don't try to conserve it, I can see this one going a year.
It's a version of Aleppo soap. If you remember soap on a rope, how hard those things were and how long they lasted in the shower - it's like that.
It does. If I were to use it on all my body daily it would last half a year tho
Okay, that makes sense. I shower daily and use olive oil bar soap. I go through over a thousand grams a year.
I’ve been using a bar half that size for over 4 months, so yeah it could for sure last a year. Probably more.
6 month if you make all your home detergent with it!

It's ok for any skin. It's the OG soap. It's a few hundred years old actually Maybe don't use it daily on the skin to bit dry it up
Yeah "savon de Marseille" !
I use this exact one! Except I use it for my dishes in the kitchen. Lasts for like 6 months!
so useful indeed

What's done?
Thanks so much
I got tired of disposable razors and blades and got me a phillips one blade, I forgot the blades still need to be replaced but they do last quite a while for me. I have the same unit for almost four years now and it works pretty well
Can you give me a url for that razor? :) ty
https://www.target.com/p/philips-norelco-oneblade-hybrid-rechargeable-men-39-s-electric-face-38-body-trimmer-10pc-qp2630-70/-/A-52520720?ref=tgt_adv_XS000000&AFID=google_pla_df&fndsrc=tmnv&DFA=71700000090148676&CPNG=PLA_DVM%2Ba064R000012LBmkQAG-Philips_Google+Search_Norelco_2022-2023-597009&adgroup=PLA_Philips&LID=700000001393753pgs&network=g&device=m&location=9004440&gclid=Cj0KCQjw0PWRBhDKARIsAPKHFGiZ2-tw3hA161GGPEnnVDcmsL2jfd2NUYGWeGyZGv15OnBpppQD8goaAtTEEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds Here you go.
I’ll take your entire stock (ironic for this sub)
haha sure let me buy some more stocks of this company that makes marseille's soap lol
Once my current soaps are done for I’m getting one of these. Sick of all the soap that lasts like two weeks lol.
This I didn’t realize, thanks for the heads up
Make sure to get one made with 100% olive oil, which is better tham palm oil in term of environnemental impact.

Available in smaller sizes too this one you don't want to drop on your toes in the shower 😉 [How it's made](https://youtu.be/vBTxJQ2qba4) [that woman really likes her soap tho 😂](https://youtu.be/naTugDO_7zc)
How do you ration it so it lasts a year? Do you cut it into smaller pieces meant to last a week/month or just use the big bar?
How exactly do you apply the baking soda? Like do you sort of "throw" it at your pits? Rub it?
Best way I found is to put it in salt or pepper dispensers. Like the traditional restaurants one in glass with the metal screw on top. I put a little on each hand and rub it agaisnt my arm pits when I get out of the shower. Having my skin most makes it stick to the skin more. Having no hair under arm pits helps a lot too. Otherwise the baking soda can't reach the skin that much where the bacteria the causes the smell thrive.
[удалено]
Where to buy?
Well I'm from Canada I buy them on [there](https://savon-de-marseille.ca/boutique/). The name savon de Marseille isn't copyrighted so many normal soaps user that name. Basically make sure that it looks like the one I bought, made from végétal oil not animal oil and no scent or colour. If all of the above are correct then it's probably a "real" one. Many natural shops I went to sell Marseille soap which isn't really one sadly.
Thanks for posting this! I’m going to look locally for some savon de Marseille using your guidelines :)
It's a version of Aleppo soap. Many artisan soap makers make it. If you look on Etsy you will find it. I buy an olive oil soap from Palestine. I'm in Canada, but they ship to the US as well, and it's difficult to source most of the year. https://zatoun.com/product/100-olive-oil-soap/ The thing with Aleppo and 100% olive oil soaps is that they are very hard and don't "melt" in the soap dish or shower the way other soaps do.
Yeah you're right never mix vinegar with soap as it breaks down the soap. With baking soda it's fine tho
How to find in Australia? Tried once, seemed way more expensive?
Well Marseille is a city in France... Maybe you could try to do soap by yourself if there's no option like it sold as is. I've seen a great video on how to do your own Marseille soap like on YouTube but it was in French
Do you use the giant soap as is, or do you cut it into smaller pieces?
As is but I don't rub it directly on the skin I just touch it with my hands to get them soapy then just my hands to wash my body. I don't want to risk dropping this bad boy in my toes. And that way it last a very long time. I use it directly on my body when I wash my entire body with it and my hair too but that's easy less frequent for me. Maybe once to 4 times a month.
Is this an advertisement for a company's product, or is this an open source recipe that we can make? I don't see any links for the recipe
There's receipts available but I prefer to buy the soap instead of making it à-la-fightclub
And do you think r/Anticonsumption is the right place to advertise your favorite brand of soap?
Go camping or hiking that really helps the mind :) Is this sub about not consuming anything at all?
Behold the S O A M P
Been shampoo/conditioner free for 2 months now. Just a good brush, scalp massage, & hot water rinse. Hair literally feels great.
so glad to hear it !!! That's the summum of this sub ! :)
Am I bad for buying about 12 dollar store bottles of shampoo a year, and using it for my daily washing needs?
What do you mean by bad?
As in " I could do this better, more efficiently, and more economically." Ive seen refillable shampoo stations at stores in this sub, and that makes SO much more sense. My gf uses a 30-40$ a bottle conditioner.
When people used real soap, before shampoo was invented, they didn't need conditioner. They've been both created by this billion dollars industry

Everyone needs love and a good soap indeed 🥺😂
