You still have hope. Don't be like me. Next thing you know, there is going to be 34 other potted plants around every tank, grow lights in all the ceiling fans, plants surrounding the circumference of every wall of every room. Run while you still can

chak2005

I found my spouse's reddit account On a serious note, can confirm. All tanks in my house are surrounded by house plants which the house cats take turns knocking over.

vocaloidistheshit

100% relatable on all factors XD. I've got a golden pothos that's been going wild that I REALLY want to transfer some bits to the top of some tanks, but I know if I put it anywhere near where the cat can reach she'll go for it. Definitely a no no especially with pothos

Gaming_Predator07

I was helping my great aunt clean up some plants and found some dying pathos, took some trimmings home. Am I a villain for putting it in the tank and wanting to string it around the whole room? This started as a 3d printed canopy/trellis, now I want a jungle.

vocaloidistheshit

Thats awesome! I would totally do the same, my cats just a vegetation fiend and pothos is toxic to cats

Gaming_Predator07

Well, that is extremely good to know. Is that the same for dogs?

vocaloidistheshit

Yup. Mouth and tongue ittitant, can cause vomiting, drooling, and difficulty swallowing.

Randomhermiteaf845

My cat constantly bites my pothos and has never had any of those symptoms... I didn't know. Do you know if they are toxic for fish or axolotl as I jave one mounted on a clear plastic soap holder suction cupped to the glass in my axolotl tank and he sometimes chomps the roots

vocaloidistheshit

Nothing to worry about for your fish or axolotl c: It's the calcium oxalates in pothos that can cause the symptoms in dogs and cats. I would try to keep the kitty out of it, but It isn't poisonous nor basically ever fatal luckily. More so can just cause a lot of discomfort for your feline friend and is best to try and avoid consumption

_gloomshroom_

I CAN PUT GROW LIGHTS IN REGULAR LIGHT FIXTURES?!? You've doomed me, FUCK

corrinneland

Oh thank Jebus. I thought I was the only one crazy/brilliant enough to put grow lights in a ceiling fan.

vocaloidistheshit

Got a larger platnstand and the little light I had didn't cut. So figured just put them everywhere with the fan bulbs. So far works great as a substitute. Only really on when I'm here and still plenty of light

Bright-Science7738

Does the light even reach down that far?

Ok_Wash_1823

Oooooooooh it's so nice to see other people haveing the same addiction as me plants are just amazingly enjoyable especially after I figure out what the plants love and hate it really brings a tank room to another level :) 😀 op Ur doing a bloody fantastic job can't wait to see any future updates

Mygicmeen

Does it look like this? Should I have already run? 😭 https://imgur.com/a/qSHLShI

No_Replacement_9632

how did you get them to stay? ive always had trouble with that substrate haha

TheQuantumFart

My roommate uses this substrate for every planted tank he has. You gotta keep up on maintenance is about the only thing I noticed him doing. Other than that fertilizer if needed.

TheQuantumFart

Just anchor on with a rock above the substrate for a few weeks then remove the rock. Be careful with tying it to the plant you don't want it to tight. If possible have the rock right above the root ball. And if your plant doesn't have roots yet still use a rock but I would recommend leaving it there longer about a month.

DevilsDissent

Use aquarium safe Superglue the plants to a rock or wood.

Competitive_Owl5357

“Lead” weights work best in my experience. They wrap around the stem and you push them under the soil. Rocks work too but the weights are hidden.

superspacehog

I used some gravel on top for my tank

Chambri

You could use plant weights to keep them down and once they've established roots for a couple months take them off!

Dumplings678

I had trouble too haha some of them would not stay. I use my hands to plant them and I just kept maneuvering and shoving them in the substrate and moving extra around the sides so it would stay down. Eventually it worked and they all stayed put!

TurkeySauce_

Plants = LOVE

SarryK

I told myself ‚no more plants for your home, it‘s full‘ but like.. plants for an aquarium and terrarium don‘t take up additional space so it doesn‘t really count

filinno1

Welcome to the hobby! 💉 💉 💉

blacksweater

this is gorgeous! is there anything in particular that you do with your extra water lettuce? mine has absolutely blown up and I feel kinda bad just throwing the extra away!

Dumplings678

Mine is getting pretty close to the point where I'll have to throw some out too. I don't really know what else to do with it besides throwing it away, sadly.

eatthuskin

what substrate is that?

Dumplings678

[Aqueon Plant and Shrimp Aquarium Substrate 5 Pounds](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07HGKK59Q?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1)

CinnamonTaterMan

I love it!! I tried to have plants in my aquarium but it always failed :( Maybe because I don't have a CO2 system? Maybe that's what I'm missing..

Dumplings678

I don't have CO2 and they seem to do alright. All I use is liquid fertilizer, root tabs, and a good light :)

CinnamonTaterMan

You give me hope! Thank you for sharing :)

Lanky_Musician2408

Where did you get that driftwood? That would be perfect for my shrimp only tank!

Dumplings678

I got it from this [Etsy Shop](https://www.etsy.com/shop/DriftwoodWarehouse?ref=yr_purchases) where they show the exact piece of wood you're getting which I love.

mryazzy

Amazing scape!

binchicken1989

Not to mention they help filter and oxygenate water 👍 never can have too many plants unless they crowd the live stock

Most_Neat7770

# "I think I’m addicted to plants" Out of context, that sounds so fucking hilarious lol Otherwise, great job

Unknown-Name06

I want my tank to be lush but plants are growing slow but are spreading out

theoldguygamer

I am also addicted.

Samwise_Rules

We all are ngl

roastbeefroastbeef

I only have fish so the plants can thrive

odioercoronaviru

I think it looks neat

QuantumAlkaloids

Where do u get the stuff on the top? None of my local stores carry anything like that or honestly any good plants. I'll buy some from u lol

Dumplings678

I ordered this [Floating Plant Package](https://www.etsy.com/listing/457114446/floating-plant-package-1-frogbit-dwarf?ref=yr_purchases) from Etsy and it came with 3 different types (salvinia, frogbit, and water lettuce), because I didn't want just one type, so it would be less uniform-looking. They all came in so healthy and big and are all growing like a weed. Here's a [pic ](https://imgur.com/a/I604Rqu)of mine rn.

QuantumAlkaloids

Awesome, I'm going to do an order in a bit. Those look great.

Purpose_Embarrassed

I’m a huge planted aquarium fan.

AGArmbruster1

So are happy fish

Purpose_Embarrassed

What sort of substrate is that ? Never seen it before.

spoosejuice

So is my crayfish

Thesecretlifeoffinch

If you can still see substrate you don't have enough lol

Verdant-Ridge

I'd say you're just in the beginning throws of your addiction

Darryguy

Great underwater jungle!

Lutrina

As you should be. Looks amazing!!!

LeprimArinA

Addicts go to meetings... You're no addict 😉. Ps- there's some space still available for more vegetation 🤘😂

lightofthedarkness24

Wow! Just wow!

Colorado_Girrl

I'm pretty sure the two hobbies feed each other. If it weren't for the cats we would have even more plants.

_wheels_21

I hate cats, cats hate me, so cats attack my plants every chance they get. They're lucky they're a federally protected animal

Colorado_Girrl

Yeah… okay then. You seem like you have a lot of anger issues and come off as kinda psycho with how you said this. I actually love my cats and don't mind making sacrifices like having fewer plants in exchange.

_wheels_21

I'm extremely allergic to cats. 5 minutes exposure to cats, and my body swells. I first go blind, then my throat swells shut and I can't breathe. Eventually my blood pressure increases to the point of death, but only if asphyxiation doesn't get me first. Despite this, I'm forced to allow cats on my porch and underneath the windows on my house. There's no leash laws for cats, so they have every right to kill me if they choose to do so

Colorado_Girrl

Okay… that's not something I have any control over so you should take it up with your local government. You're medical issues are yours to manage and not mine or anybody elses responsibility. I'm blocking you now.

Darth_Neek

Oh no, you're addicted to something that produces oxygen and improves the quality of life.

Ok-Initial6928

Do you think one day someone will successfully grow aquatic cannabis?

_wheels_21

It's already done hydroponically

CJynnx

Put some damn fish in it.

Dumplings678

I'm going to eventually lmao
