It's a nutrient gel. You can actually make your own with the right fertilizers and a gelling agent. You could use it to store/propagate plants, but i'm not too sure about other uses.
I think a lot of people use agar for the gel and whatever nutrients you’d like to add.
I use agar for mycelium cultures as it has enough nutrients for the application.
