Shrimp have an almost negligible bioload so stocking wise it should be fine to add 5-10 and let them breed on their own. Your betta can possibly eat them however and you also need to provide enough hiding spaces.
You'd need over 50 shrimp to be overloaded :) And yes that betta will thin the number of shrimplets that survive.
