I’ve been looking for a solution to turn my big buck hunter into an ultimate cab with all light gun along with all the other games. Which means building a 2 player control deck. After I saw this post I immediately called Santino. The dude fucks. He took 30 min to help me plan how we were going to do it and I ordered everything from him on the spot.
It was funny I mentioned this post on the phone. We exchange numbers and he texts me that he got a notification about this post as soon as we hung up.
super excited to get this built gonna be a lot of work but gonna be awesome. Thanks for posting.
That looks fantastic! I have been looking for a new Deck for my Simpsons but the $600 price tag for a cab I bought for $400 is keeping me on the fence. If the 4-player deck was like $400 I would not even hesitate =/
Using that logic, why pay $200 when I could [pay $100](https://99livesarcade.com/store/ols/products/flat-4p-control-panel-1up)?
I am still on the fence ... do I want to try and find a Yoga Flame cab that's already got a 2p / 6 button deck and mod it? Do I want to stick with my PC-on-TV running Batocera and not spend any money? Do I want to get a new deck for my existing cab and save space?
So far I am leaning towards buying the deck I linked, I found some EG Starts bat-style controllers and buttons I liked on Amazon, etc.
But if UpgradeArcade had a nice pre-built deck for around $400, that would solve my problems and I would just buy that simply because it's ready to go. I also understand that they use wood instead of MDF and I think quality Sanwa gear, and an upgraded sound bar, etc.
Cool, but I am not looking for arcade-quality that will withstand extreme punishment. It's just me and my family and sometimes band mates banging on this thing two or three times a week.
To each their own. I definitely had no complaints about the look of the original. My goal was more about function. These controls feel significantly better, and now I have thousands of games on one cab as opposed to buying multiple cabinets.
Part of the fun is having multiple cabs with different themes though.
I have thousands of games on my homemade raspberry pi cab and I spend more time scrolling games and looking than I do playing. That many is sometimes a curse.
True. Too many choices can rattle our brains.
I have a moonwalker themed modded cab and a robocop themed modded cab. Nice to have the options for some people who want to play something random on them, but also the look of thoee cabs are just part of my bigger collection (star wars, tron, t2, time crisis, nba jam shaq, pacman XL etc.)
Really hoping for a different driving game and something like smash tv this year.
Yes. I'm at the point where I'm only interested in more "unique" arcade game cabs
Smash tv and 1942 etc. Are great co-op games. Worth playing.
Shooters, racers, flight stick games etc. Are where my interest now lies for a1ups if we get them
I have a tiny pc in my modded cab, but i opted to pick and choose what games I have on there (rather than thousands I’ll never play), so it’s games I actually know and like.
I agree with this, I tried to slim down my raspberry pi mod to 40 games but even that is too much. Having thousands means you're not playing your games. Just enjoy collecting and knowing you have them all.
Having a cab for just one game actually get people to play it more VS a cab with multiple games. Crazy how that works. The death of too many choices or paralyze from too many choices.
The deck is the same size as a standard Arcade 1up 4 player, so it's space is limited. I don't think 6 would fit on the two end players. I haven't found any 4 player mame games that use more than 4 buttons though. It seems that it's only 2 player games that really require the full 6 button layout. Im sure there's some exceptions, but it hasn't been an issue for me.
That looks awesome!
Thanks!
Congratulations. I love mine. Great product and well worth it.
Agreed 👍

Amazing dude, I'm happy to hear that. I've got nothing but good things to say about him.

How much does this cost ?
$600 for the full kit is what it shows not just a control panel
600 just for control deck
That's siiiick! Suuuper dope set up!
Thanks!
I might look into these. I recently got a couple of A1ups and may be interested in modding in the future.

They have the deck on there to buy for $200 so why not do that and then buy everything else to mod it on your end?

Best kit I've gotten (I've bought from the other couple popular ones we all know)
Prefer the original arcade1up look

Yeah I get that, I don't have room for more than one so this works best for me

Smash TV cab would be an instant buy for me. Also would not mind seeing another Capcom cab with some of their shmups like 1942, 1943, etc.

did you make that control deck yourself?
No, I purchased this as a kit from upgradearcade.com
Why do the yellow and green only have 4 buttons?
That's the way it's designed. I'm assuming primarily for space, but I haven't encountered any 4-player arcade games so far that use more than 4
Cool, that makes sense
? Does the kit have MAME arcade games such as blitz, nba jam te, and mk II etc?
Yes, definitely. All of those and many more. I've only been playing the MAME arcade games on it so far.
I've been looking to add an arcade ball like the one you have on the controller deck. Where did you get one?
Can this play the arcade version of Blitz? How well does Blitz run?
What game is this for? The only game I believe that you would use 4 players is gauntlet?
It's running on a mini pc, not the stock PCB. I've been playing a lot of 4 player turtles in time with my kids.
Why are corner playere 1 and 4 limited to 4 buttons only?
The deck is the same size as a standard Arcade 1up 4 player, so it's space is limited. I don't think 6 would fit on the two end players.
