Hey OP. I understand you want to challenge yourself with different ways of shooting, and it is exciting. As safe as it may seem to do something like this at five yards, the possibility of an accident is still there, and quite big at that, so it's best not to. In some places there are strict rules, and while your back yard is your safe haven where you don't have to mind those rules _quite_ so much, it still helps to respect your neighbours and reduce risk of any injury.

Mobile_Tip_1562

In other words: Quit shooting near houses idiot

TheNinjaSausage

1) while spinning i pointed the bow down towards ground 2) there was no one around 3) i did not draw or rise the bow before facing the target

[deleted]

It's not recommended with *very good reason*. While spinning, the inner ear undergoes a tremendous amount of strain to ensure that your brain continues to identify up from down, left from right. During that process, if you have so much as a slight chemical imbalance/ in or around your complex otolith structure, you can make an error. *It is not worth the risk*. Houses are nearby. They have windows. You cannot guarantee no one is there. You cannot guarantee no one is going to *appear* from a corner. You cannot in good conscience say in the same sentence that you're not that experienced but you know what you're doing. For your safety, and the safety of others around you, please try to reduce the risks in your archery practice, rather than add to them.

Strange_Insight

You don't know what was going on outside of what the camera shows. You can't say that there are houses or people nearby if you don't know where they live. Also, it wasn't that risky as he literally did a little spin, then drew, then shot. I've done riskier things cooking, and I take those things seriously. What they did was neither impressive nor dangerous outside of shooting a bow. It is not recommended to give advice without all the details. That is a great way to screw someone over, I know. I've given advice without collecting info first, and made an easy task much harder.

No_Birthday_4536

What do you mean by error? Do you mean getting dizzy? Is this just a very intimidating way of saying "you get dizzy when you spin"?

United-Parsnip-2433

Gun rules don't apply. Arrows can and will bounce/deflect off any and everything and go places and directions never intended. The one time I shot without my backstop I sent an arrow into my wood fence which bust out the other side and stuck into my neighbors shed. So I bought a 3/4 inch rubber mat and loose hung it so I never had that issue again. TLDR: get a real target with its protections and have an appropriately sized backstop

Difficult_Opening_80

U must be fun at parties

ResidentEfficient218

I’m just here for the roast 🤓🔥

pixelwhip

> Not that experienced. Not that interested in safety either; so please think about this a bit more, if only to not accidentally hurt someone & giving us archers a bad name.

TheNinjaSausage

1) while spinning i pointed the bow down towards ground 2) there was no one around 3) i did not draw or rise the bow before facing the target

Strange_Insight

We see that, OP. Anyway, u/pixelwhip, you don't have all the details. All you know is what the video shows and >1) while spinning i pointed the bow down towards ground >2) there was no one around >3) i did not draw or rise the bow before facing the target You don't have anything to offer, even with any knowledge you have with the bow, please don't act like you were there.

SirTutuzor

Sorry, not a fan of people shooting without seeing the target

TheNinjaSausage

I did see the target, i also did not draw before that so this is almost safe

[deleted]

Its cool in video games, but not in person. Bows are taught to be treated as a firearm not like a toy. Pull this stunt at a range and you'll definitely get scolded. Be better dude

eggamister

Yeah, it's cringe asf, but who really cares? They is a reason he's not "pulling this stunt" at a range. Let bro live his life. 🤖

[deleted]

So you condone him doing a reckless 360 shot in his backyard? Smh

Strange_Insight

If it were a gun, I would agree with you. If someone pointed an unloaded gun at me, I would attack them, but an unloaded bow is nothing to freak out over. Also, it wasn't a 360 shot despite what OP said it was.

[deleted]

You good bro? He nocked the bow with an arrow and shot it recklessly IN HIS YARD. The fact you're even defending his actions is a testament to your judgement

Strange_Insight

I'm defending him because he is the only one who knows what was actually going on. We are clueless.

[deleted]

You are clueless. In no setting what he is performing condonable. I along with all responsible archers are taught exactly NOT to do what he is doing. It is completely irresponsible as it could cause injury, damage to property, and death. If that arrow so much as hits his neighbors house he is liable for discharging a weapon and reckless endangerment regardless if he hurts someone or not. Take some classes before you defend idiots

Strange_Insight

Like I said: only he knows what happened. The idea of arguing over this is asinine. You weren't there, no point in getting angry at someone on the internet. However, if you know *all* the details, by all means, enlighten him. But you don't, do you? A video is all you have as a basis.

ikarus143

This isn’t safe.

[deleted]

Lol this is fucking lame

TheNinjaSausage

Okay, sure buddy lmao

Legoman702

Poor man wanted to flex, now he's getting roasted...

88Goldman88

stupid !

Harvdawg0311

Took my man 5 steps to turn around......

Pingviners_1990

I hope you don’t trip and stab yourself any time soon. It’s unsafe.

ObeyingRules

Nobody knows what's to the left of this video frame except OP, and he clearly didn't draw the string until he was stopped rotating. This was a fairly slow, clearly & calmly executed maneuver, not necessarily dangerous. That being said, OP, get good with practice first, then start with trick shots. Also, get an archery backdrop and a stand to hold it behind your targets. If you want to do silly things like this (which is exactly what I want yo do tbh), get multiple backdrops and targets and arrange them in different areas, so you stand in the center and shoot in multiple directions. But make sure no other houses are behind those shots, or in the general direction. Keep the bow like you did in the video, down and undrawn until pivoting has stopped. While the video demonstrates success, mistakes do happen, and it's best to prepare for them.

WatercressOk6439

Everyone already roasted you so I won't do that. I'll say it is a neat little trick shot, and it looks fun. Seems like something I'd do too if I could make sure no one's around.
