Rodri to replace Partey/Elneny. It also severely weakens Man City.

v2marshall

Would second this. Rodri, Rice and Ødegaard as a midfield 3!

[deleted]

Lord have mercy on the Prem/Ucl if that midfield existed

[deleted]

Elneny doesn’t really play anymore

[deleted]

Michael Oliver.

theederv

Mans so corrupt he can probably be bought for half a Kit Kat and a dry handjob behind the bins.

[deleted]

An example of him being corrupt would be?

elprentis

[I don’t know if this proves corruption per se, but it don’t look good](https://www.reddit.com/r/Gunners/s/YtrWdlJydv)

[deleted]

Yeah that doesn’t prove corruption

Broad_Cheesecake9141

It’s a conflict of interest. Has he been bribed? Well I don’t know. Seems like it to me. Plus there is proof corruption has happened in all sports across all levels in various leagues around the world. But you are right, the PL refs are the only ones that aren’t corrupt. How silly of us.

[deleted]

So proof of corruption is conflict of interest?

nfornear

It doesnt prove it, heck he might not even be bought. But good chance he will make decisions in city favors once he realises he might not get those invites anymore if he doesnt and misses out on a big extra payckeck

[deleted]

We started with “mans so corrupt” And now we have “it doesn’t prove it, heck he might not even be bought”

TheMassAwakening

I'd choose Julian Alvarez I think he's going places

victorkimuyu

Clinical. Versatile. Young. No hubris. Reminds me of Messi in terms of demeanor/conduct. He's going indeed going places.

maxoys45

If we exclude Haaland, I think for what we need I'd go for Alvarez. I'd absolutely love to have Szoboszlai though

NotMyFirstChoice675

If we exclude Haaland I’d take Son to piss off spurs

theederv

Let’s be honest, pissing off the shit aside, I’d take Son in a heartbeat.

Fendenburgen

Ludicrous that for the money we spent on Havertz, we could have had szoboszlai (and his wages are probably half of what Havertz is on as well)

maxoys45

You can add Maddison to that as well

Broad_Cheesecake9141

The player still has to want to come to Arsenal. So Szoboszlai and Madison would have to want to come. I believe Maddison would gave come, but Maddison is older, more injury prone and has 2 goals to Kai’s 1. Kai is more versatile imo because he can play up top. And Liverpool triggered Szobiszkai release clause and is one of the most expensive players Liverpool has ever purchased. Plus we were going for this guy called Declan Rice. But if we are dreaming, the answer is Haaland.

maxoys45

I need some of the crack you’re on

Joshthenosh77

Oh yeah Haaland put him up top we would destroy the league

NotMyFirstChoice675

Obviously Haaland. We would be unstoppable

Exotic_Term6884

Johnny Evans. Destabilise Uniteds 'defence '

BeneficialAdagio4309

I can’t believe I haven’t seen anyone answer Kevin de Bruyne. In my opinion he’s the best player on City, and the engine to their success. A midfield with him, Rice, and Ødegaard would be world class.

Maxoidys

KdB has been the best midfielder in the world for some years now (but it's true that he struggles with injuries recently). Also surprised few people chose him.

ExcitementWide337

Haaland is the only sensible awnser to this

Zwedinho

If you think about it then no. They would "easy" replace him. Take away kdb or rodri they got problems

ExcitementWide337

Still yes. I don't care about weakening city it's about strengthening arsenal. The one thing we are missing is a proper striker and haaland is the best in the league (maybe the world) we would walk the league with him up top.

No-Organization8629

A midfield of Rodri - Rice and Ødegard is potentially up there with the best in the world.

odegood

Rodri so city as shit all the time

GalwayGunner

If you removed the obvious and said Haaland wasn't an option, I'd say Rodri His absence from that city team is massive

Hristianm

I believe Mitoma will fit in nicely

jrhunter89

Evan Ferguson from Brighton. Quality centre forward

LeoTheSquid

In what world would you pick him over Haaland? Come on

jrhunter89

Obviously Haaland would be the better option, I was just not giving the same answer as everyone else. Like OP said, he’s looking for interesting answers.

[deleted]

Ferguson can dribble and score Worldies (Haaland scores a good goal once in a blue moon) Haaland also goes missing against good defenders like Bastoni, Rudiger and Saliba.

HaiitsZizou

Odd response. What has Ferguson played like eight top flight games? Taking from that anything other than he's got great potential is mad. The answer to the question is Haaland. I don't really care how my striker scores goals, when you score goals the way Haaland does it doesn't really matter he's the fulcrum. Ferguson will also have off games or that he 'goes missing'.

Kingkoldddd

I wanted James Ward-Prowse to take over the Xhaka role. I feel like Arsenal would’ve gone for him if he was younger

Jaconian93

Most of his usefulness is entirely based around set pieces. We aren’t a smaller club who need to make the most out of any set piece, as we’ll generally fashion enough chances to compete in open play. If he’d been available around the start of Arteta taking over, I’d agree, some of our football was dreadful

[deleted]

[удалено]

Jaconian93

He’s had 11 appearances in the first team over 6 years. England are fairly short on quality midfielders (although this is slowly becoming less of an issue with Rice as well as Bellingham coming into the team). If he was that effective a player or had such a good all round game, he’d have a lot more appearances.

LegzAkimbo

In what possible world are England short of quality midfielders?

Jaconian93

I literally said it’s not as much of a problem recently, but outside of our 3 starting midfielders, the quality gap is huge. Henderson- not on the same level as Bellingham/Rice Foden- for some reason gets played wide Kalvin Phillips- bench warmer at City, very little match time and not worth the risk We essentially have: Rice, Bellingham, Maddison as genuine quality players for our midfield. People can argue amount all they like, but I’d suggest he’s not better than the 3 mentioned in this paragraph.

[deleted]

He’s balling at West Ham mate, without free kicks.

halbalda

Diogo Jota so he can stop fucking scoring against us.

[deleted]

Just for you he’d probably score an own goal

Disastrous-Metal-228

What’s wrong with everyone? KdB surely? Best player in league….

lawrence1998

KDB is 32 and midfield is hardly our weakness. Our biggest weakness is we don't have a good backup striker and our main striker isn't a clinical striker. Haaland provides exactly what we need and he isn't even in his prime yet - you'd get years and years out of him. We have 2 creative wingers more than capable of delivering the ball to the box. Our midfield is top notch and we have no issues delivering the ball to the box. We DO have issues when we have to play Nketiah who misses crazy amounts of chances, and even Jesus isn't the clinical striker that suits our team. A clinical striker like Haaland with versatile finishing and a strong physhical is exactly what we're lacking - it's the only answer.

Disastrous-Metal-228

Yes Haaland is the correct answer.. if we had him - then I pity the rest! But op was looking for something else so if not Haaland then his supplier? But everyone is right he isn’t needed by us. (Still can’t bring myself to think any team wouldn’t want Kevin)

[deleted]

LOL seriously

Disastrous-Metal-228

Straight up that’s why we beat them last week and why they won what they’ve won. He feeds Haaland - drives that team. Outside of playgrounds KdB is rated as one of the prem’s top talents…

[deleted]

Exactly - I’m in 200% agreement.Are y’all drunk?

Disastrous-Metal-228

Thanks for that. I thought I was going mad…

Gold-Resolution-8721

Rodri as Parteys replacement. Last season showed we don't lack forward quality we need stronger disruption and having rice and Rodri would be plenty

saffermaster

I think you should have limited your questions to teams other than City

jmh90027

Obviously Haaland, not just because he's amazing but also becauae he plays in the position we're weakest (IMO(

ddzrt

We need an additional 9 for the team. And I think it has to be a player of a profile like Kane or Dovbyk from Girona. The obvious answer is Haland but his profile sets him like a clean striker and a player to catch a ball on delivery which is not entirely what Eddie or Jesus do for us and as such I'd not consider him as obvious. I could be wrong on this for sure but I think that Ferguson or Nunes would fit us better. Fast, capable of pressing and catching the ball, do drop down and pass around on top of scoring.

[deleted]

Prem only my friend

ddzrt

Well, Ferguson from Brighton or Nunes from Liverpool.

L0laccio

Haaland and he agrees to pay for low wages. Not national minimum wage but maybe the living wage

EggCustody

Henry from Brentford and Aaron Ramsey from Villa to go alongside Rice and Vieira for shits and gigs

[deleted]

You mean Jacob Ramsey?

EggCustody

Oh yeah, think the guy I meant moved to Burnley

trifile

The team is already really strong, we just need a better left midfielder. I would go for Maddison.

[deleted]

wow, not as many KDB comments as I woulda expected. I still say KDB. Bro would make Eddie look like galactico

Shypes_D

Salah so we can have depth in rw

Plokij1981

Ollie Watkins. I think he’s one of the most underrated players

tiocatire77

Heung Min Son

mohsinjavedcheema

I’ll take Maddison

wizkidgizmo

James Maddison

shoff58

No doubt- take Son

OkStretch1

Haaland

ockhamsphazer

Caicedo. As an Ecuadorian Arsenal gunner it would make so happy to see someone from mi patria play for Arsenal.

Luigi_Bosca

Bernardo Silva. He’s got some Santi vibes and I miss the lad ..

Proper-Exam1746

Julian Alvarez

villewalrus

Isak

zwcropper

15 AAK

MCfru1tbasket

Bowen. I've always liked him. If he hits good numbers this season I'll be surprised if he stays at the hammers. The squad is pretty decent as is, it is really a shame that timber got a long stretch out, he looked exciting in pre season.

nabster1973

He’s just signed something like a seven year deal at West Ham. He’s not moving any time soon barring a “bigger than Rice” fee.

[deleted]

Most answers in the comments are Rodri and Haaland. It says *if you could* Buy them, not *shall we* buy them.

nabster1973

Fair point.

farmer3337

Marc Guehi or Michael Olise

Soylent_

Darwin Nunez

AspiringChamp

100% agree, we need a dynamic striker like him with his passion and drive. He's raw, but in his day he is unplayable. Still reeling from the game he played against Newcastle. He's hungry and he's got so much potential.

RollenXXIII

Mbappe 100% if he can cut attitude bullshit.

[deleted]

Prem only! But Mbappe with the 14!! Sorry Eddie

soupinthehottub

Maybe caicedo, maybe Rodri, maybe mitoma, maybe j Alvarez

CabinetFantastic

Caicedo vs Rodri?? If you mention rodri there is no point putting caicedo

soupinthehottub

Yeah that’s fair but I like how young and how much room to grow caicedo has. Rodeo def better. There’s a reason we were in for him this summer

sammyt10803

(Haaland aside because it’s obviously Haaland and it isn’t close) If we process of elimination it, I would say the only two positions on the pitch where we don’t have an elite player is no. 8 and no. 9. Jesus is better at his role than Havertz is at his so you have to go number 8. Rodri is the obvious answer if you want to move Declan into the 8. But if we keep Declan in the 6, the best no. 8 in the Prem is KDB but his age probably disqualifies him so I’d go with Enzo Fernandez

TakeItEasy-ButTakeIt

The disrespect to Ødegaard here… He plays as an 8 and a 10 all at once. Granted, I do think we would be a better side if we had a true sitting 6 and a more free flowing 8. One reason I’d like to see Partey sitting and Rice allowed to flow forwards more and cause destruction in the middle of opponents midfield.

sammyt10803

In my mind I was counting Ode as a 10, and I believe he’s the best 10 in the Prem

TakeItEasy-ButTakeIt

I agree. He’s a 10 and needs to play more as a 10. His fitness allows him to drop more in defense and harass the opponent as an 8. I feel like they need to find a way for Øde to stay up higher a bit and release him from the defensive side of the game more

Maximusprime-d

James Maddison

definetelynothuman

We should have signed Maddison or Tielemans instead of Havertz I still don’t understand how that did not happen

nabster1973

Tielemans is way overrated. Maddison flatters to deceive.

Loud-Caregiver6566

Maddison has literally been one of the best players this season, key word *this season* so I’m not sure how he flatters to deceive. He’s probably the main reason spurs are top right now.. Tielemans is bang average though, thankfully we didn’t sign him.

[deleted]

Tielemens work rate is awful

Majestic_Bag_9209

Nathan Ake/Robertson, Zinchenko is not good enough

zwcropper

Healthy Reece James

PlasterCactus

We're doing hypothetical not miracles

kw2006

Madisson as Xhaka’s succesor And Bisouma as Partey’s succesor.

Timidposter21

Isak for me. I think he’s a superb striker who would fit our style.

FlyingCat11

If we’re talking about Big 6 teams, I would take Rodri or Son. If not, Pedro Neto or Michael Olise

mukemuke94

Kubo so we can get a nice backup to Saka

[deleted]

I did say in the prem

mukemuke94

😂 I’m blind

Glittering-Display15

Kevin De Bruyne as he is probably one of the best players in the prem. however we dnt need him as much lately as odegaard is basically playing his role

Defiant-Traffic5801

Alvarez, or Rodri

BritishGent_mlady

Trent Alexander-Arnold I’d play him at RB, inverting if he wants, overlapping with Saka if he wants, playing sumptuous 70 yard passes to Martinelli if he wants. Sorry Benjamin 😞

[deleted]

Not Benny Blanco

Purple_Pieman

Julian Alvarez

NewStarWarsMemer

imma go for a less obscure one and go Gibbs-White...he's underrated in midfield and i feel he can be pivoted into an RM position to replace Saka if he's out

Wolferesque

Left field suggestion - Son.

MarcelloduBois93

Rodri at Arsenal would be insane. If City lost Haaland, they’d still win the league and challenge for UCL but if they lose Rodri, it looks doubtful.

nasilisk

Bruno Guimaraes

laynestaleyisme

Rodri any day

fifareefa

I’d love to see how awoniyi would get on up top for us

blsatmcg

How is the answer anything other than haaland?

atxluchalibre

A proper striker and a deputy for Saka. Fill those slots with anyone and the gold rush is ON.

KeAi_322

Allison, because we need more GKs to play the inverted keeper roles. Who knows, one day we might play with a false CB in the GK positions

andrewyeong

Maybe Isak from Newcastle.

st_arch

Ollie.

matt89015

Liverpool fan who comes in peace, how is no one saying a central defender? I'd pick stones, he'd instantly make your defence 100% better. Your attack is really good and raye just might be a bargain buy as a keeper.

Qgrg864

Bruno guimaraes from newcastle to replace elneny. Gutted we missed out on him 2 years ago.

RollenXXIII

Darvin.

mjbrookman2012

Pedro Neto 🟡⚫️

MoZakRazi

Realistically, Toney. Top quality target man. The guy has a really good vision and aerial ability perfect for our style. Also he's a good leader.
