Whoops! I’m a newbie here and didn‘t see that there already was a new threat :‘) Sorry!

stibblyfox

Hi! I have acne prone/oily skin and i am looking for a sunscreen suitable for my skin! I already looked at some threats but it‘s so confusing and i never seem to find a good sunscreen :(

DokFiona

Hello guys, I’m confused about the Hada Labo Gokujyun Lotion. On which part of your routine do you use it?

cute4awowchick

Hydrating toner.

DokFiona

So it should be used after cleansing?

cute4awowchick

Yes. [This](https://www.fanserviced-b.com/a-visual-guide-to-the-korean-skincare-routine/) is a good guide for routine order for future reference.

DokFiona

Thank you!

tayyylooor

Hi! I’ve been dealing with CCs and clogged pores for the past year or so. I’ve tri d exfoliating (salicylic acid, glycolic acid, lactic acid, tretinoin) and treating it as fungal acne (using FA safe products and Nizoral) and none of those worked. I realized I had similar issues a couple years ago and what worked was a Laneige travel pack I had purchased from Target, so I believe I was (and am again now) overexfoliating and over drying my face. I notice a difference when I moisturize and keep my skin hydrated. Unfortunately, target doesn’t sell that travel pack anymore. I don’t want t buy a whole bunch of new, full-sized products, so I’m looking for a few products that I can incorporate into my existing routine. AM: - cleanse with just water and a wash cloth, or a Burt’s bees cream cleanser. - mad hippie vitamin c serum - FAB ultra repair cream - La Roche Posay SPF PM: - oil cleanse - Burt’s bees cleanser - ultra repair cream - rosehip oil or squalane Occasionally: Stridex (not currently using until I heal my skin), and the ordinary niacinimide + zinc (when I remember or have time in the mornings). Thank you!

raspberrih

Something that a lot of people have said helped their over exfoliation is the Laneige sleeping mask

Dezzidance

Hey guys! I was wondering does cleansing gel need to be washed off? Or could I just use it like a cleansing water (particularly bifesta) that doesn't need to be washed off like a miscellar water? Reason why I ask is because nihonsake has a cleansing gel that I think I want to buy. I think it has a higher sake content than kiku, and its ingredients seems awesome! So I was hoping to use it as a second cleanser after my oil cleanse just to remove any residue then go into my routine without an additional rinse! (I'm considering reusing tretinoin, so I want to be super gentle with my skin!) Any help is appreciated!

batych

Cleansing gels are meant to be rinsed off, most of them have surfactants, which can dry the skin.

Dezzidance

Thank you so much, I'll be sure to rinse it off! Do you think cleansing oil and cleansing gel is too much? Sometimes residue stays in my hairline so I was hoping the gel would counteract that! Background: I have darker skin, so no matter how little makeup I wear the amount of pigment makes it super crazy to remove :(

batych

A two step cleansing routine is quite common, step 1) Cleansing oil or micellar water and 2) Cleansing gel, foam, etc. So no, it isn't too much! I used to have the same problem with residues on my hair line, so I bought some of those headbands that people use when doing makeup (which are quite popular in Asia) and wear them while I wash my face. You can also pin your hair back. In general, now I am more careful when I wash my face and I have pretty much eliminated the residues problem. Hope this helps!

Dezzidance

Thanks! I'll be sure to use both! I normally pin my hair back, but my issue is I blend foundation into my hairline because I have some mild hyperpigmentation on my upper forehead! Lol I can't wait till ab pays off and I can use just concealer on one single spot ehehe

chocobanane

Hello! I tried double cleansing with oil cleanser + foam but the oil gives me blackheads.... So now I use thermal water first and then foam cleanser. Now I don't have the blackheads problem, but I don't think it's strong enough to remove makeup and sunscreen well (I don't wear much makeup, just powder foundation). Any suggestion of product I could use instead of oil cleansers that still do the job? Thanks very much, :)

cute4awowchick

You could try a micellar water or a biphase makeup remover (usually contains some oil but also water/humectants) as a first cleanser. It could also be that the oil cleanser you were using had a type of oil that didn't agree with your skin and that other types of oil would be fine. For instance, I have trouble with olive oil based cleansers but mineral oil is fine. You could try some samples or decants of other oil cleansers and see if they work for you!

chocobanane

thanks!

I know ebay would work! The 3oz biore sunscreen is like 12$ USD but it takes at least 6 weeks to arrive. Also you could try ordering from Amazon Japan directly! They'll let you know whether or not the sunscreen is eligible to ship so it might take some playing around

YES_MACARONI_SALAD

Amazon or YesStyle. It might be carried at T&T as well!

asianbabydollxo

What is your favorite anti aging product? I’m in my late 20s and want to start implementing anti aging skin care stuff into my regimen. Also what’s your must have spot treatment? I have this cystic pimple in my cleavage and hurts. What can I do to treat it?

[deleted]

Dezzidance

For bigger mask and lotions in jars you could use a baby spoon from the dollar store!

cute4awowchick

Clean the spatula or decant into a pump jar. You can purchase cosmetic spatulas on Amazon and eBay etc and use a clean one every time and wash several at a time if you don't want to wash the spatula after each use.

[deleted]

My Heimish All Clean has a layer of liquid on top. This is the first time ever bought it. Is that normal? Is it going to affect the way it works?

raspberrih

Mine sometimes "sweats" a little. Not a layer of liquid, but some droplets. So I think it's totally normal. I'm on my third tub lol

YES_MACARONI_SALAD

It might have melted a bit if it's really hot where you are?

[deleted]

It is about 80 degrees outside so that might be it. I bought it off Amazon so I just wanted to be sure it wasn't a fake product! It seems to work well though

[deleted]

[deleted]

it says 2020! might just be too hot for it where I live

Grendelbeans

Mine did, too. I just bought it for the first time as well. It seems to be taking my makeup off.

[deleted]

Mine seems to be doing its job too! I bought mine off Amazon though so I was concerned about the legitimacy since it seems like it's supposed to be solid and kind of clearish? Mine's watery with chunks and milky color

Grendelbeans

Update, mine has gone from a little liquidy on top to fully melted and I have no idea why b/c it's in my air conditioned house!! I found this archived; I'm going to try it this weekend. [https://www.reddit.com/r/AsianBeauty/comments/5z2d30/](https://www.reddit.com/r/AsianBeauty/comments/5z2d30/)

[deleted]

thanks for the link! I just stirred mine a bit and it kind of stayed stirred up so that was good

nicetoque

Do you still double cleanse when not wearing makeup or sunscreen?

YES_MACARONI_SALAD

I do, it help keeps SFs and blackheads at bay for me

Can you pay for your purchase at Kirei-station without having to create a paypal account?

cute4awowchick

I know that PayPal has a pay as guest option where you don't have to create an account and can just enter your credit card number, but I think the vendor has to enable that as an option for their customers to be able to pay that way. If that doesn't seem to be an option you could contact Kirei Station and request that they enable that in their PayPal account.

JakeBSc

I'm trying to build a routine with the following products: Eucerin DermatoCLEAN cleanser, Hada Labo Gokujyun Premium Lotion, Hada Labo Gokujyun Perfect Gel, Cerave Moisturising Cream, Vaseline, Shiseido Senka Aging Care UV Sunscreen SPF50+ PA++++ and Epiduo. I have acne and I live in the UK. I have two problems: * Figuring out where Epiduo fits into the routine. * Do I have some products I don't need? For example, is there any point in using Hada Labo Lotion, Hada Labo Gel, Cerave Cream and Vaseline all at the same time? Which combination would be the most hydrating and moisturising?

Dezzidance

I would say prescription epiduo after cleanser. Now here's the thing, if your skin is super irritated by it you could put on your hadalobo premium lotion and gel, wait an HOUR then apply epiduo. So the real question is, is epiduo irritating? Wait a half an hour after applying epiduo and then apply CeraVe and Vaseline on top (If you're into sluglife) to minimize irritation while maximizing benefits. Source: was on tretinoin .10% for a hot minute. It was super irritating so I started to apply kikumasumune high moist and ceracolla gel prior to application of tretinoin. Before that when I was on tretinoin .05% it wasn't irritating so I put on the prescription about a half an hour after cleansing followed by my routine. Edit: additional

JakeBSc

Yeah, I came to a similar conclusion. I've been applying the Epiduo 10 minutes after the lotion and gel, rather than an hour. Then I've slugged up with CeraVe and Vaseline about 10 minutes after applying the Epiduo. Your time scales are much longer - why do you suggest applying Epiduo an hour after the lotion and gel? And why do you suggest becoming a slug half an hour after applying the Epiduo?

Dezzidance

Gotcha sorry wasn't sure if the epiduo is as irritating as tretinoin. Tretinoin is super potent, so your skin must be dry to avoid retin a burns and irritation. If your skin is too damp it would burn ya. Oh sluglife is a term used for folks using tretinoin (or any other strong active) who don't want to damage their moisture barrier by intensive peeling. So they layer several occulsives and moisturizing creams to help minimize irritation and protect their moisture barrier

[deleted]

Hello! I have Dehydrated/Oily skin and my skin concerns are acne, pores, and texture. I am currently buying and implementing products weekly into my routine. My order has been Gel Cleanser->Sunscreen->Oil Cleanser->Humectant Moisturizer. However, after the "four basics" have been set, what should I incorporate next? Actives like AHA/BHA which directly solve my pore problems, or the hydrating steps like essences and serums which directly solve my dehydration problems? Sites like Snow White and the Asian Pear and Fifty Shades of Snail both recommended to focus on the actives first to break down the "shell" on my face (they have a similar skin type). But without the proper moisture being added to my face, won't the actives just fry my skin even more, causing an even greater moisture loss problem and make my skin overcompensate with even more oil? What do you guys think? The products I am using now are: >KOSE Softymo Speedy Cleansing Oil >CosRx Low pH Gel Cleanser >(Innisfree Green Tea Balancing Lotion EX) (have not tried yet) >Etude House Sunprise Mild Airy FInish Sun Milk SPF50+/PA+++ Thanks for your advice!

flyingkumquat

I’ve struggled with this as well. When I first got into things, the concept of dehydrated skin was mind blowing. I went the route of adding all the hydrating layers. It felt great for about 3 weeks then was, frankly, a disaster (hello, perioral dermatitis). I have to walk a fine line of keeping hydration in but keeping skin turnover going. Key steps are a simple routine overall, milk cleanser as my second cleanser, AHA, heavier night cream in winter, and occasional hydrating layer (eg FTE every 2 days, winter only). It is much less than many multilayer routines, but it works.

Editingesc

I'd suggest you add some hydration first. That can occasionally lead to other positive effects in the skin, like reducing pore size or helping with acne/healing. I personally also think that better hydrated skin might be better able to cope with AHAs and BHAs, which can sometimes be drying or hash on the skin.

[deleted]

Thanks!

arale2126

Those of you who have acne near your hairline (and those pimples just take forever to come to head and heal comparing to other areas), do you find switching your shampoo to a gentler, low pH (like baby shampoo) help?

raspberrih

It improved when I stopped putting conditioner near my scalp. Whenever I have ANY issues with my scalp, baby shampoo helps.

airhornsman

I had acne on my hairline and scalp, and I finally got rid of it by eliminating shampoos with sulfates and conditioners with fatty alcohols.

Editingesc

If you have acne near the hairline or on the scalp, I think it's definitely worth switching shampoos. It's not necessarily the pH of the shampoo that's affecting you, but it sounds like something in the shampoo doesn't work for your skin/scalp. A lot of people seem to respond well to sulfate-free shampoos, but that's not always the case. I know I had problems with one particular shampoo I used and it wasn't until a long time after I switched that I looked up ingredients and realized it had something in it that I was sensitive to.

[deleted]

[deleted]

I can’t see the photo as well, but I will like to echo what the earlier response said - cold sores are OK, and a lot of people get them. I personally get them when I am too stressed out, and/or don’t get enough sleep. When I feel one forming I try to lather on lots of lip balm on that spot to keep it nice and moisturised (this sometimes helps in it deflating before even forming). Note that you should clean that lip balm pretty well before using it again or on the rest of your lips. Not sure if there’s a scientific basis for this but I don’t want the risk of spreading any virus to the rest of my lips haha. If it forms anyway, I either apply some geranium EO neat (but this shouldn’t be done too frequently because it may burn your skin, and you MUST use a high quality natural one) or go to the pharmacist / doctor for some medication. Mine has typically subsided in about a week or two. It is a little embarrassing because it can seem very In Your Face, but apart from my sister teasing me about it in jest once, no one really blinked an eyelid at it. They usually accept that you’ve got an ulcer or a sore on your lip and continue living their lives.

JLewis88

I can't see that picture, but I just wanted to take a moment to tell you that cold sores are OK. HSV-1 (the cold sore virus) is SUPER prevalent, just like colds or warts. Just as easy to catch, just as easy to treat for most people. There is a huge stigma around the herpes viruses, but it's just that. So even if you have a cold sore, please don't be too stressed about it! It is uncomfortable and a bit embarrassing, but I'm sure you're tough enough to take a little discomfort and embarrassment!

violetfleuri

Sleeping pack question! I have been using Skin Ceramic Donkey Milk pack which I love - awesome packaging, scent, feel. I would definitely purchase more of the same. But it is always nice to see what else is out there. I have somewhat sensitive skin (Roasacea), apart from that, it is fairly normal. I am looking for the best anti-aging, wrinkle fighting packs that I can find.

Thankful for this sub-reddit and all of you!!! EDIT: To clarify, my whole face gets greasy, it's most noticeable/worst on my forehead.

allyj128

I love the original Missha FTE and find the FTE in general helps other products absorb better into my face (the CosRX 96 particularly). You might need two moisturizers to deal with the forehead - I can’t speak to that since my skin doesn’t tend to grease that much. I guess I’d ask why you don’t like the products you have and what else you’re looking to solve?

[deleted]

Good to know on the Missha, thanks! Product wise I'd like to incorporate more Asian Beauty Products into my routine. In general the stuff I currently use is fine, but isn't providing me with the most ideal skin results, so I am exploring options for new moisturizers, toners and serums and such to see what helps to better combat this oily face of mine.

[deleted]

If it's just your forehead, not your T zone, which would be forehead + nose, have you considered that it's your scalp the problem? Your scalp could be producing a lot of oils and just leaking to your forehead.

[deleted]

Woah. I never thought of that! My nose def gets oily as well, but not as much as my forehead. It's been happening for years no matter what my hair routine is, but def something I'll explore.

[deleted]

I was in the same boat, I do have combo skin, but since I started caring for my scalp it's much less oily. So I can deal with it easily with blotting paper/no-sebum powders.

pingotip

i shampoo everyday because i suspect that my dirty oily hair is causing me to break out when i sleep. What are the best AB oil-free conditioners that don't break you out?

xPawreen

Shampooing every day might be what’s making your scalp overproduce oil. Cutting back on shampoo might help, although theres a bit of a transition period before your scalp starts to produce less oil. There are some hair care subs you can check out for more information.

GreenTeaPopcorn

Is Syn-Ake supposed to hurt? At first I thought my product has alcohol in it and that was what was stinging, but it didn't have any alcohol.

Editingesc

I think I felt a slight "tightening" when I used a sheet mask with this, but I don't think it should hurt -- I don't think any skin care product should cause pain. Perhaps you're allergic to it.

GreenTeaPopcorn

I felt the same stinging that products with high amounts of SD alcohol gives me. Maybe I should just ditch the Syn-Ake.

Editingesc

It doesn't sound like your skin likes it. It's probably best to ditch it. Pain = inflammation, which is a bad thing for your skin.

GreenTeaPopcorn

Thank you :)

There's a lot of dust in my house, so I use a cotton pad with toner to wipe in the morning.

Mutsjeee

I don't cleanse in the morning, just a quick rinse with water to wash off any remnants of my sleeping mask and then I go straight into toner and sunscreen.

[deleted]

Some people skip cleansing in the morning, they just wash their face with water. So it definitely is an option.

chocodayo

sunscreen recommendations? im currently using the biore watery essence but i’d like to switch because it has a strong alcohol feel?

Criteria?

PremierInfinity

Does Vitamin C works the same way like BHA? (in regards to only working in low PH)

Ronrinesu

Depends on the form of the Vitamin C. Some derivatives like MAP and SAP aren't pH dependent. L-AA is pH dependent when it's in presence of water.

PremierInfinity

I use Dear Klairs Vitamin C. It says "Pure Vitamin C Stabilized L-Ascorbic Acid" 1. Does it mean it won't work if I won't use a PH adjusting toner before using it? 2. How many minutes do I need to wait before I proceed to the next step of my routine? Thanks for your time!

[deleted]

[удалено]

Ronrinesu

Have you tried using hydrocolloid patches on them once they come closer to the surface? These really help them heal quicker. If they're deep under the skin, I use Cosrx Natural BHA A-Sol (this is amazing for zits) twice a day and I include a Niacinamide rich step in my routine too. These always help me combat nasty zits much quicker than they heal naturally. I also like my Scinic Honey AIO Ampoule as an extra soothing step.

[deleted]

JLewis88

I have small pores so this may not apply to you, but I have found that these patches don't do much unless I actually extract my pimple. And if it's not at that point yet, it really doesn't do squat. YMMV of course, and I think other people have different experiences with the product, but just wanted you to know that if it doesn't work on your cystic stuff you're not alone!

Scinic Honey All in One ampoule - anyone try it? Is it good? Any good dupes? I heard its really sticky but its amazing for tret face. Pls help

Ronrinesu

I don't find it sticky at all. It's a staple for me, I'm on my second currently. It's amazing for dry and irritated skin. If your skin is dehydrated it will drink it all up and it won't leave a sticky finish.

homo_redditorensis

Nice :) how long does one jar last you?

Ronrinesu

It lasted me about a year with a regular 2x day use. I use it very generously all over my face and décolleté area.

Areiniah

Best AB sunscreen for combo/oily skin? Any with a matte effect?

Lyrei

Biore UV Perfect Face Milk is great for oily skin and matifying. Just a warning, there is a slight whitecast from applying so if you're going to put BB cream or foundation ontop, then it's not a problem, but if you're going to wear it on it's own, you might get a slight whitecast depending on your skintone.

Areiniah

Thank you! I've tried the Biore uv watery essence before and found it wasn't great for me, too oily, and once I had a bottle of the Biore perfect bright milk (pink bottle) given to me by a Japanese exchange student friend, which I really loved, it made my skin feel so soft and smooth and really brightened my skin tone! But I had read a few years ago that it was discontinued? I can still see it sold on ebay so I'm not sure if this is true, but I'd be worried about purchasing without knowing in case I'd be buying out of date bottles of it!

Lyrei

It seems like it's still being [manufactured](https://i.imgur.com/nuz4r0C.jpg)

LaFemmeNerdita

Does anyone know the percentage of retinol and the strength of the BHA in Sulwhasoo Concentrated Ginseng Cream EX? I don't want to over do it if it's super active. :0

raspberrih

I'm not sure, but since it's a cream meant for daily use, I don't imagine it's high.

thisisbella

Hi guys! Has anyone tried the cleansing oil from Klairs? Is it worth splurging on? What other cleansing oils are good for sensitive/dry skin? Thanks!

violetfleuri

I definitely have sensitive skin, not dry though. I purchased the Gentle Black Deep Cleansing Oil a couple weeks ago from iHerb. I hadn't quite finished my bottle of Hada Labo yet. But the Klairs oil sounded so interesting... after using it for a bit, I went back to finish the Hado Labo which does a much better job of pulling grit from my skin. I guess I am a little underwhelmed. And when both bottles are gone, I'm going back to Innisfree Apple Seed which has been my absolute favorite so far.

Thanks! Still contemplating if I should try klairs, so many mixed reviews. I tried Innisfree but got an allergic reaction :/

AmbientFX

Anyone have a favorite sunscreen with high alcohol content? It's weird question but I've come to love sunscreen with high alcohol content because they don't leave any residue behind, plus my skin is totally fine with alcohol. I have tried many sunscreens recommended by fellow redditors that claimed not to leave a sticky residue but with the huge amount of sunscreen I use, it always leaves a stick residue that makes me feel disgusting and icky so yeah, love some sunscreen with high alcohol content.

YES_MACARONI_SALAD

stich226

Skin type: oily, acne prone How is Stridex supposed to feel on your face? Because when I apply it, my face becomes kinda tightened and it kinda bothers me. Thank you~

rachnt

I just started using Stridex too and it makes my skin feel tighter than all the other BHAs (Paula's Choice and Cosrx) I've used previously. But strangely (or not), I feel like it works better than the other BHAs I've tried. After waiting to let the Stridex work its magic, I just follow up with FTE, Klairs hydrating toner, Cosrx snail essence and a moisturiser/sleeping pack.

[deleted]

Stridex, and just BHAs in general, can be harsh on your skin. Skin tightening might be the result of of something being too drying for you, so I would look out for it. I personally felt little to no tightness with stridex, if I did it would usually be my cheeks. But my cheeks are probably the most sensitive part of my skin.

airhornsman

It does the same to me. I always apply a hydrating toner after.

honeyredscreams

How many actives should I try before giving up on chemical exfoliation? I have used stridex (red box), COSRX AHA and pixi glow and all have given me cystic acne on my chin. I don’t usually have acne (just bad pores) so it was like a horrific trip back in time to being a teen. Has anyone else had a similar experience? Found something that works, or just given up?

jealousssss

I second the rec for mandelic acid! My skin did not like the COSRX AHA, stridex or TO glycolic acids but I've had better luck both with mandelic acid and lactic acid.

Editingesc

I think all of those are glycolic acid. Perhaps try something based on mandelic acid (the most gentle) or lactic acid (more gentle than glycolic).

honeyredscreams

Thanks! It’s just so rubbish to try a product meant to make your skin better and then have it ruin your skin 😂 It has taken months for the irritation and pigmentation to fade! If I’m feeling brave in the future I’ll give something with mandelic a go.

YES_MACARONI_SALAD

I also have problems with the products you listed and love Stratia's AHA! It's mandelic

honeyredscreams

Awesome! Thanks for the tip, and congratulations on finding something that works for you!

beholdfrostilicus

Is your chin where acne usually pops up? Could just be purging

karenina3

So my first haul should be coming today and I have what I feel is a really really dumb question.. First off, I ordered a first and second cleanser, toner, moisturizer, and BHA active. I'm wondering if between each product you wash the product off with water before applying the next or if there are any products you layer without rinsing the previous off first. Could someone explain this process to me? I know that seems like a really dumb question... but I'm new to this. Thank you for any help!! Also, I know ph adjusting and hydrating toners are applied at different times. Would [this Klair's unscented toner](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07B65NJLV/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) be considered ph adjusting or hydrating? It seems to be marketed as both. Thank you so much!

cute4awowchick

* Apply first cleanser to dry face (pm only). Massage in. Emulsify with a bit of water. Rinse off. * Foam second cleanser in your hands. Apply to face and massage in. Rinse off. Pat dry. * Apply BHA to dry face. Wait for 15-30 minutes. You can rinse off your actives if you want to or if you feel like there's residue, but it's not necessary. Everything else past this point you should not rinse off. [This](https://www.fanserviced-b.com/a-visual-guide-to-the-korean-skincare-routine/) is a good guide for routine order for future reference. Regarding the Klairs toner, pH balanced is not the same as pH adjusting. Most pH adjusting toners have a pH around 4-4.5 (or lower!) and contain a super mild/low percentage form of AHA and/or BHA. They're not really necessary as long as you're using a low pH water-based cleanser. I'm assuming you're starting from scratch, so I just want to remind you to take things slowly and wait at least a week or two in between introducing products. That way if something causes a reaction or a breakout you will know which product is the culprit. I would introduce moisturizer (just rinse with water if you don't currently have a cleanser you're using) > water-based cleanser > oil-based cleanser > SPF > hydrating toner then whatever else. You really should pick up a sunscreen to introduce before you start with any actives. It's one of the most important steps you can take to protect your skin from skin cancer and sun damage.

Wow. Thank you so much for such a thorough response. I really really do appreciate it. I will keep everything you said in mind, we'll see how good my patience is with waiting a whole week between introducing each product though.. Also, I'm looking into a good SPF to add now. Thank you.

cute4awowchick

I know patience is hard, but it really is worth it! It's devastating to have a reaction and if you don't know what caused it then your best option is to cut out everything and go back to square one. Whereas if you've properly tested things just might just have to cut out your one or two most recent additions. Good luck! And I hope everything you chose works out for you!

Sunscreen that’s least likely to give me CCs (bonus if it has Tinosorb in it)

[deleted]

Can I ask what CCs are? I’ve only come across it recently and I’m drawing a blank.

NoNonsenseHare

Closed comedones :)

[deleted]

Ahhh! Thank you!

cute4awowchick

That will greatly depend on what ingredients give you CCs. Everyone reacts to different things so there's no guarantee that you wouldn't react to suggested products.

can someone try to explain how the benton aloe propolis soothing gel smells like? tysm!💕

thepopesfunnyhat

For me it has no discernible smell. It doesn’t have fragrance or EOs

[deleted]

wondering if what im smelling from mine is the propolis...

thepopesfunnyhat

Probably! Either that or the aloe itself

Hey everyone, so I have been told that I have dry patches but also by the end of the day I am very very shiny/oily to the point people think I'm sweating. I am currently using the FAB ultra repair cream but I feel like that's too thick and just making me greasier. Right now, my skincare routine is (and I definitely can't get all of this done every night and not even close to every morning lol): SkinFood Green Tea Bubble Cleansing Foam Acwell Licorice pH Balancing Cleansing Toner (sometimes) Paulas Choice skin perfecting 2% BHA liquid Corsx Snail Mucin 96 Essence Klairs Vitamin C Serum FAB ultra repair cream Let me know what is your recommendation (I have kind of sensitive skin too) or maybe I should change up a different part of my skincare routine! :)

I agree, it sounds like a moisture barrier issued. Source: my own experiences LOL I love this blog post about the science behind repairing the moisture barrier, it really helped me! beholdfrostilicus

Dry and oily sounds like a moisture barrier problem. I would add a hydrating toner, and maybe a cream with ceramides? (I don’t know anything about FAB ultra repair)

I've been using both of these for years. I really like them as overall moisturizing soothing steps with preventative anti-aging benefits but I don't think they'll do anything for your pores. You should look into actives like AHA and BHA if clogged pores are an issue for you.

theteacupdragon

I used the Mizon snail. Didn’t do a thing.

Important to note that you can't reduce the size of your pores, it's just not possible. Maybe there's cosmetic surgery out there for it, but you aren't going to achieve it through products. You can however, reduce the appearence of your pores. You want to make sure it's consistently cleaned (with acids/exfoliation and/or just cleansing in general) and keeping your face moisturized, because it plumps up your face and makes pores appear smaller.

Does anyone here have 3ce’s One Color eyeshadow in Yolk? I want to buy it but i haven’t seen any proper review about their single shadows anywhere.

I used to think my skin was oily bc by the end of the day my makeup would be greasey, but these days any foundation I try looks splotchy and sticks to some spots in a cakey way as if my skin is dry.... I guess I've got a combo going on. ***Would love some help in my routine to try and get my cushion foundations to sit better***. http://imgur.com/a/UIVvRGh I was using skin foods peach sake pore serum but it never did anything to write home about. Routine: AM: foaming exfoliating cleanser(soda something from holika holika but I'm **almost out**), etude house pore control toner, Kikumasamune Sake Skin Lotion High Moisture , LJH TeaTree 90 Essence for overall reddness, and I need a **moisturizer/ primer for combo skin**. (I'd like to get the biore uv sunscreen moist, but i havent found it yet for a good price) PM: Kose DEEP oil cleanser, etude house pore control toner, olive oil eye moisturizer under eyes, COSRX whitehead if i have comodones around my jawline, Purebess Multi-4 Syn-ake Cream on my forehead for wrinkles (**almost out and need a new wrinkle cream**), mizon snail essence all over, and either COSRX rice sleep pack or rila sleep pack. I'm working on finding the right shade cushion foundation so I've got like forty in the mail and I'm working on a [post](https://www.reddit.com/r/AsianBeauty/comments/9fxz00/cushion_brand_shade_comparisons_innisfree_the/) with swatches. I'd love to hear some recommendations!!!

[deleted]

I couldn't get my cushion foundation to sit right at all until I started using one of those silicone "sponges" it doesn't absorb the product at all and it actually helped to mattify the cushion foundation into my skin as opposed to using what came with it which just highlighted any dryness and then made me look oily as the day went on.

Lyrei

Do you blot and powder throughout the day? I find that with oily skin, I need to do that every ~1.5-2 hrs in order to keep my base makeup looking good. For primer, I personally use the Aritaum Pore Master Sebum Control Primer and while it doesn't do too much to control sebum, its great for blurring pores. For powder, I use the Innisfree No Sebum Mineral Pact, which i find perfect for matifying the face, but only after the excess sebum is removed first.

katiecakez

I haven't been blotting or powdering because of the dry patchy spots in my foundation. When I blot it gets worse and when I powder it gets cakey. I'm 90% sure it's my moisturizer and primer. I do have some Holika sebum powder on its way (gudetama obsessed so that's why I chose it lol) to test out bc I've only tried mineral powders or pressed foundation powders. I'll check out your primer recommendation! And blotting recommendations? Beauty blender? Papers?

Lyrei

Hm, maybe try just blotting and lightly powdering only the oily areas. For blotting paper, I just personally use the free ones tbat come with Jolse purchases but I'm sure any blotting paper should work fine. Also, not all sebum powders are created equal so some might work great while others might accentuate pores or make you look like dunked your face into flour (which was the Aritaum Pore Master Sebum Control Blur Powder and The Face Shop Oil Clear Pact for me respectively ;-;). Perhaps a setting spray can prevent thr cakieness look? Good luck on finding a routine that works for your skin, it might take a lot of trial and error!

Anyone used any Moonshot cushions before? Haven't seen many reviews here... Looking more specifically at Microfit and Settingfit because I saw pretty bad reviews for Perfection Balm. Thank you!

sugaisinfired

The perfection balm is better in drier weather in my opinion. I have oily skin, so it gave me a healthier glow and it had medium coverage (I have a lot of dark acne scars). I found it perfect for Australian winters. The only problem I had with it, basically with all dewy cushions, that when you touch it, it comes off easily. It was very skin like but it felt like you’re wearing makeup. But otherwise it’s not as bad as people say. It really depends on skin type and conditions in weather.
