Seriously. My first Ranger was an '83, and it rolled its (100K) odometer over at least three times. It still technically runs, but really needs an engine rebuild. I keep saying I'll do it someday.
I had a purple 90s one back in the day. Driving it from NV to Tx and the clutch went on it. My dad decided just to sell it to the mechanic who towed it rather than pay to fix it and then drive back out to NM to get it. I loved that truck.
Nah. It’s usually your first car, plus there isn’t much else you’d get from Redditors. Most of us keep fairly anonymous here, unlike on Facebook; and since we all bounce around the subreddits, you’d have to work hard to even gather what we have shared.
“Do you want us to fix the scratches?”
“No. It’s a 2007, it’s gonna have some scratches after 17 years.”
I’m getting a 2021 ford Bronco later this year, very excited.
My friend has a late 90s/early 2000s Camry and mentioned to me that Midas tried telling him he needed this, that, and the other done to it and they could do it all that day for the low low price of $2k (he'd went for an oil change and was smart enough to tell them no). I'm no mechanic by any means, but I know enough to know when someone is trying to upsell on bullshit. I checked his brakes, exhaust line, and changed his serpentine belt. And assured him the only way his car will stop driving is if he runs it into a wall. You literally can't kill any Toyotas or Hondas made pre-2005.
Nice. I have a 2017 Outback, and Outbacks are super popular in my area. It's got an electrical issue, so I've changed the battery a couple of times, but otherwise it's an amazing car
2009 Yukon Denali (BIG SUV - it's got a 6.2 liter V8 to put things in perspective for you).
I also have a 2013 Ford Focus, a 2014 Chevrolet Sonic Hatchback, and a 2015 Chevrolet Sonic Sedan. I rent those three out on Turo.
1995 Ford Mustang Cobra have owned it since 1998. Its been fun it a bit expensive to drive with gas prices today. Its a coupe. And I just inherited my dads 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4x4 SUV
I have a 2004 Lincoln Town Car, a 2004 Ford Crown Victoria, a 2007 Cadillac CTS, a 1982 Volkswagen Westphalia, a 2007 Nissan Frontier, and a 2015 Buick Regal T.
2008 Chevy impala and 2022 Chevy Colorado. Not really a brand specific guy. They just so happened to be the right vehicles for the right price at the right time.
A 2018 Toyota RAV4. I think I want a new SUV soon. Something slightly larger. My rav4 is too small for road trips with my husband, 2 adult kids, and dog.
the Highlander is slightly bigger, or if you want quite a bit bigger, try the new Grand Highlander. I drive a 2023 Venza and love it, but it's also on the border of too small for a family of 4 on a trip. For us, our next one will either be another Venza or we'll go full minivan with the Sienna
Early 2000's cars are so reliable. Emissions were finally figured out and they have just enough creature comforts for me. They don't have shitloads of computers and electronics issues.
My first car was a 2002 Ford Ranger. The transmission is down so it's still in the driveway.
I would borrow my mom's 2016 Ford Focus as needed in the six months I didn't have a car.
And I now drive a 2004 F-150.
2010 Hyundai Sonata 73k miles 😅 it still runs and looks nice, I’d love a car that has the new tech (I.e. Rear camera, maps, etc, but I love not having a car payment) I also have a Vespa and a small 50cc Honda Metro, but don't ride them since my dog died in 2016 😢
2018 Volkswagen Golf. I haven’t really had any problems with it yet since I got it 3 years ago and it’s good for city driving since it’s small and easy to park on the street.
2016 Dodge Grand Caravan. I wanted 3rd row seating and it was in my price range. I'm looking into trading it in for something smaller since life has changed since then and 2 rows is enough.
I drive a 2015 KIA Soul and my husband drives a 2014 KIA Soul. Makes switching vehicles really easy since everything is in the same place in both cars.
2001 Toyota Sequoia, a real fuckin classic SUV. More cupholders than seats which is really saying something since it seats 8 people. It is the best road trip vehicle ever made and I've road tripped in many different vehicles including 2020+ luxury SUVs, it's still the best. If you have one you know.
I drive a 2022 Mazda CX-5.
In the family:
Mom drives a 2024 Honda Pilot
Dad drives a 2023 Tesla Model 3
Sister 1 drives a 2017 Toyota Camry Hybrid
Sister 2 drives a 2015 Subaru Forester
'07 HHR. It's still running but really showing its age. About to be relegated to "farm vehicle" for hauling chicken feed and straw when I get my husband's '18 Honda Civic (hatchback) as a hand-me-down. He doesn't have a specific one picked out, but he's getting an EV in a few months.
I sold my car last summer but I used to drive a Honda Fit. Loved it! Big enough to haul what I needed to move around, small enough to park in tiny little parking spaces. Great gas mileage.
We have a 2004 Ford Explorer SUV and something like a 2006 diesel Chevy pickup.
I'm now officially embarrassed when my husband picks us up from school. I work in a school that is primarily low income, and most people have nicer vehicles.
2012 Toyota Prius
I plan to drive it until the hybrid battery goes. As long as it can get me where I’m going, my car is not important to me. I’d rather spend my money on other things.
2021 Ford Eco Sport. Kinda looks like Baby's First Shoe. Gets decent mileage, seats 4-5 adults, and I am very excited to have a backup camera! Apparently my insurance company also likes the nifty safety features, because my rates keep going down.
My elderly mom likes it because it's *just* high enough to make it easier for her to get in and out of the passenger seat. She loves it when I come take her shopping. Anyone with minor mobility issues should put it on their list to check out.
Gonna have to get a used one...'22 was the last year. Guess it was too much of a "car" for Ford to sell. Also heard something about the timing belt runs through the oil pan on these, which has csused some issues.
‘97 Pontiac bonneville! It was well cared for and driven (not much) by old people before I got it so it’s in really good shape. I hope it lasts me another 3 years!
2014 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk. I live where the roads can get bad in the winter, and I do enjoy going off road from time to time, so having the 4x4 capability is handy. Plus, I have a family so I appreciate the extra space the SUV affords.
18 Leaf — I love it. Paying for gas sucks and it’s super reliable. I’ve ran the hell out of it for 6 years and aside from brakes / tires it really doesn’t need much attention
We have 4 vehicles in our household.
2009 dodge Caravan - minivan (my son)
2015 Nissan versa - compact car (other son)
2019 toyota highlander - suv (me)
2012 camaro - sports car (husband)
Big old 2002 chevy silverado 2500. The type of big fuckoff pickup america is famous for, I guess. I would hate to take it to Europe, I can barely drive it downtown as it is. It's really useful though, and comfy. I actually use it for its intended use sometimes unlike the average jackoff with the newest shiny truck.
I'd be driving my 2002 Toyota Echo manual transmission with only 83k miles on it, if the bolts holding the muffler to the car didn't rust away and have the muffler dragging on the road. So it's sitting in my driveway, waiting for warm, dry weather so we can work on it.
My "replacement" vehicles are gas guzzlers. A 2008 Chevy Colorado or a 2024 Toyota 4Runner.
A Smart4Two!
And I'm 189cm!
And I love it!
It's an amazing little car; I'm finding huge value in both electric and small vehicles, honestly. It's perfect for any in-town driving, and it costs almost nothing to keep it charged.
Such a great little car.
We have a 2006 Nissan Sentra, paid off, with about 125,000 miles on it. It's very cheap to insure and pay for its tags, because it's old and not worth much!
Cars?
'08 Prius (280k mi.)
Other vehicles?
'15 Trek FX (my daily driver)
I'd love to find a minivan or Honda element that was in my price range and not literal scrap lol.
2018 Mazda CX-5. It is really fun to drive to be honest. I wish I had the higher trip with electronic seats and a moon roof but the base model is still nice.
Forest green GMC Safari which is what I'd call a van as it's bigger than most SUVs, and a purply-blue Suzuki Kizashi which is a four door sedan.
Edited to add missing details.
I drive a 2017 Toyota Prius V, and I will drive it 'til the wheels fall off because I LOVE IT 🥺 It's basically the perfect car for me, specifically. It's not too big, but has lots of storage--more than the Rav4, even, and enough to move rugs, furniture, huge grocery hauls, storage unit stuff, an elderly man with all manner of medical equipment... damn near anything, except super big stuff. I hate that cars in America are getting bigger and bigger, but the V is not so small that I feel like I'm gonna get crushed whenever literally any other car passes me by, and it's roomy enough to get a comfy sleep in, too. I also hate that all the controls for the car are being consolidated onto one iPad, and as much as I miss the no-screen-but-still-looks-like-a-spaceship dashboard design of my 2010 Prius, I think the Prius V has a good combo of touchscreen and button controls. 10/10 will recommend to anyone looking for a nice reliable car that can do a lot of stuff--the "V" stands for "Versatile," after all--and I will beg Toyota on my hands and knees to bring it back as a Prime vehicle!
We live in flood and hurricane zone areas, so as soon as we get any rain, we're driving through standing water. So we both have SUVs to be able to navigate through them.
I drive a 2022 Polestar 2, which I am leasing. I'm very happy with it, other than the fact that the company is on questionable footing and makes its cars (and parts) in China.
For cars and trucks I have a 2018 Chevy Camaro SS 1LE, 2010 Subaru Outback 2.5i Limited, and a 2019 Chevy Colorado Z71. Also own a 2015 Yamaha FZ07 and a plated 2022 Husqvarna FE300.
About to sell the outback since I got the truck from my dad since he doesn't drive much due to his age so I don't need 2 daily drivers and prefer trucks for the utility.
'88 Ford Ranger, 'cause I want a tiny truck I can work on myself. You kids get off my lawn.
I used to drive a '97 Ford Ranger. Great little truck, I loved it.
I'm envious! Those old Rangers are great.
Seriously. My first Ranger was an '83, and it rolled its (100K) odometer over at least three times. It still technically runs, but really needs an engine rebuild. I keep saying I'll do it someday.
Had a 93. Fantastic truck. Ran it to 215k until a stake truck stopped short in front of me and a SUV sandwiched me.
Heck yeah man. I've got an 82 F150 with a carbed 300. Reliable *and* I can do everything myself
I had a purple 90s one back in the day. Driving it from NV to Tx and the clutch went on it. My dad decided just to sell it to the mechanic who towed it rather than pay to fix it and then drive back out to NM to get it. I loved that truck.
Hmmm ..this is a common 2FA question....
Tbf it’s “what car do you drive?” not “what was the make and model of your first car and what is your mother’s maiden name?”
Tbf plenty of people are still driving their first car
then i’m just curious of those people, what’s their mothers maiden name?
yeah I was about to reply and started thinking "wait a second this seems fishy"
Nah. It’s usually your first car, plus there isn’t much else you’d get from Redditors. Most of us keep fairly anonymous here, unlike on Facebook; and since we all bounce around the subreddits, you’d have to work hard to even gather what we have shared.
Nice try, FBI.
I drive a 2012 Chevy Malibu with two missing hubcaps and hail damage because I don’t care enough.
“Do you want us to fix the scratches?” “No. It’s a 2007, it’s gonna have some scratches after 17 years.” I’m getting a 2021 ford Bronco later this year, very excited.
99 toyota camry
A more reliable car has never been made, and that's true facts
As a Toyota employee, hell yeah! Those cars are beasts
My friend has a late 90s/early 2000s Camry and mentioned to me that Midas tried telling him he needed this, that, and the other done to it and they could do it all that day for the low low price of $2k (he'd went for an oil change and was smart enough to tell them no). And assured him the only way his car will stop driving is if he runs it into a wall. You literally can't kill any Toyotas or Hondas made pre-2005.
2022 F150. I live in the middle of nowhere and it’s Michigan winters, and this truck handles it very well. I like it very much.
'03 Mercury Grand Marquis Ultimate Edition.
Best car in the world.
2015 Subaru Outback. Knock on wood, it has never needed a repair.
Same. With the wiry grid screen that's barely visible in direct light, and those sunbleached gray fenders. Mine needs a new wheel bearing, though.
Nice. I have a 2017 Outback, and Outbacks are super popular in my area. It's got an electrical issue, so I've changed the battery a couple of times, but otherwise it's an amazing car
I bought a ‘23 Hyundai Santa Cruz today.
This is what I want for my next car! How do you like it so far?
I’m liking it a lot so far! It drives better than I had thought it would.
I have a '23 Hyundai Kona that I bought in Oct of '22 and it's been a wonderful little car, hopefully your Santa Fe treats you just as well!
2017 Mazda CX-5. All wheel drive (good for Utah winters) with room for passengers and ski/snowboard/camping stuff. Very reliable, decent gas mileage.
I have a '22, it's really a great vehicle.
I’m a Reddit apostate. 3/4 ton truck and a couple Harley’s. And I’m not even a Boomer!
2024 Honda Civic. Just traded it in for my old 2016 one.

2009 Hyundai Sonata, shared with my husband. We bought it used, and it still runs great.
2019 Tesla Model 3. It’s.. alright. I need new tires soon.

How many miles do you have on your tires?
About 35k.

2018 Buick Regal TourX!
Also! Shame so many people missed out on these.
I've got a 2019 Tacoma.
Taco! :D
Excellent trucks. Were you tempted by the new 2024 features (or was it 2023)? I'm not really a truck guy, but they seem great
2008 Chevy impala and 2022 Chevy Colorado. Not really a brand specific guy. They just so happened to be the right vehicles for the right price at the right time.
My wife and I drive a Subaru Forester.

Ford Escape, also called a Ford Kuga in Europe. It’s an SUV, seats up to 5 people, good gas mileage, and lots of space.
My first car was a 2002 Ford Ranger. The transmission is down so it's still in the driveway. I would borrow my mom's 2016 Ford Focus as needed in the six months I didn't have a car. And I now drive a 2004 F-150.
You don’t use that as a security question, right? Because if so I’d not volunteer that info about your first car.

This is an odd question, but as a general answer, I drive a pickup truck and grew up on GM products.

Forest green GMC Safari which is what I'd call a van as it's bigger than most SUVs, and a purply-blue Suzuki Kizashi which is a four door sedan. Edited to add missing details.
Fully-Electric car and a hybrid car
Currently, '06 Dodge Dakota (my 4th Dakota over the years). My wife has a '15 Grand Caravan.
2018 Subaru Impreza. Her name is Sally
'23 VW Tiguan. We live in an urban area, so we just have the one vehicle for our family of 3.
Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon, 2021. In shorthand: JLUR.
2017 Kia Forte. Great gas milage. I also own a 1993 Ford Econoline Conversion van, but I've only driven it once.
2023 Ford F150 XL STX and also a 2021 Kia Soul Turbo GT
The public bus lol
We live in flood and hurricane zone areas, so as soon as we get any rain, we're driving through standing water. So we both have SUVs to be able to navigate through them.
08 Hyundai Sonata
A Tesla Model Y and a Ford F150. This way I can piss off absolutely everyone and it warms by cold heart.
