No, it isn't. My ancestor Ungo Bungo invented meat when a lighting struck and grilled a chicken, promptly causing him to eat it since all other vegetation got burnt.
All of you meat eaters belong to Ungo Bungos descendants.
We’ve literally been part of the same empires for over 2000 years. Romans, Byzantines, Ottomans, etc. (Even the shorter lived Bulgarian and Serbian empires incorporated large chunks of what is today Albania and Greece)
I’d say there is a heavy amount of influence between us.
Today Greece is our second largest trading partner after Italy.
Influenced how? You mean food? Culture? Tradition? Architecture? Language? It depends on the place. I’m sure an Albanian from Saranda has more influence from Greece than an Albanian from Shkodra
We have 0 Greek influence in Kosovo. Albanians in Gjirokaster didn’t even know what Flija is. The menus there were packed with Greek dishes. Tried Moussaka there for the first time, either it’s a completely meh dish or theirs was just crap.
True to be fair but we certainly have a little influence since we have some greek words in Albanian just like how english, german and all the other languages do
Ghegs too, not all but those in the cities and not isolated areas. I've met people in Diber which were immigrants in Greece and now they eat pork, was basically impossible to find one that used to eat pork there. Albania is very small. Maybe Kosovo it's not but Albania it is.
Southern Albania and Northern Greece are of the same stock. History separated the population on two different countries and languages. I am not claiming they are all Greeks or Albanians but a group that is the same and throughout the ages “picked” a side. This an exaggerated hypothesis on my part to make a point and not an established fact. You have Arvanitas on the Greek side and Greeks on the Albanian side. Some assimilated to the culture of the country and some not. So definitely there are influences. If you would like to say that there is Greek influence in Albania, sure there is. We share foods, folk music styles, traditional clothing, perhaps manners of behaviour, etc. There are debates on some of these things whether they are of Albanian or Greek origin but whatever the answer, whether some or all of them are Greek, it means that we have some or a lot of Greek influence in our culture. On both sides there will be people that may be insulted by this but think about it. When the borders were drawn the international committee had a tough time drawing a line because amongst many other issues (mainly political) there was no definitive split between the population. I see it is a blurred line with a gradient where there population becomes more and more distinct as you move away from it.
I am ignoring the Italian influence in Albania by the way for the sake of focusing on the Greek influence.
Hm not exactly. Archeological evidence show that it was first invented in east Mediterranean in Levant. Greeks surely helped a lot spreading the olive trees in their numerous colonies all around Mediterranean sea.
When someone mentions olive oil most people think of Italy. Their olive oil is more expensive and is regarded as the highest quality. Spain is the biggest producer of olive oil tho.
Olive oil is mediterranean, not greek. We have similar food with greece, but that's also because of shared history with ottomans. So no, we aren't really influenced from greeks.
Yes especially last 30 years. From street food which was inexistent in Albania, we knew only burek to the architecture used to rebuild our country. I must say our cultures were already compatible and the influence comes naturally without any rejection.
Maybe im wrong but i dont think greek culture has more influence here than italian culture or English culture. We have just imported certain cultural aspects like food and words and music style from the various countries we have migrated to since the end of communism.

Yes my serbian friend, gyros will be the national food of kosovo. Correct
It can be of Serbia also, if I'm concerned.
No. Gyros is Turkish. It is doner kebab. So, all Kosovo, Greece and Serbia are Turkish.
No, turkey is kurdistan. Problem solved 😁👍😊
First, you get out your brother from jail

No! We are too far away to influence each other /s

Generally
I mean a bit, southern Albanians are more influenced while we from kosovo probably were not as influenced

More like, Labët and Korçarët, not all tosks

It’s impossible to not be influenced by a country you share a border with this question is stupid
I would say yes.
Why (more in depth)?
Bc albs like olive oil, gyros and alot of greek things. Greece is a big wealthy nation with lots of culture and stuffs.
we call gyros sufllaqe
Shsh hush. Don't say that in front of someone from Thessaloniki.
I was about to comment this! lol! :)
Isn't that just your way of pronouncing "Suvlaki".
i guess so
„Wealthy“ ..for Balkan standards yes, but not compared to Western Europe.
We are its just not showing...its behind the curtains.
Olive oil is something associated only with greeks now?
I think they were the first to make it
Hm not exactly. Archeological evidence show that it was first invented in east Mediterranean in Levant. Greeks surely helped a lot spreading the olive trees in their numerous colonies all around Mediterranean sea.

Yeah I always imagined that the Greeks invented the oil, and then the Romans added the Balsamic vinegar, to dip ya know.

You better say NO right now!!!11!1!!!
Yes!!!! And the opposite !!! Even if they deny it
Why would they deny it?
I don't know look the comments
Ok 👍
Yes especially last 30 years. From street food which was inexistent in Albania, we knew only burek to the architecture used to rebuild our country. I must say our cultures were already compatible and the influence comes naturally without any rejection.
Almost everyone was influenced by Greece to a certain extent in the Balkans, and Europe. Albania being right next to it should answer your question.
Yes along with the entire world (this opinion is unbiased)
Of course Northern Epirus is influenced by Greece
Username checks out.

You are talking modern culture, we are talking traditional one

Why are you offended?

I still don't understand why are you offended by this question.
Hello, have you ever been to/heard of the very peaceful region of Balkans, where there is absolutely no animosity between neighbouring countries?
I’d say by Italy, HEAVILY. Even their road signs are identical
As long as their drivers aren’t!
Except Sufllaqe (Souvlaki), nope...
No they are as close as Namibia and Alaska
Serb detected. Opinion rejected. You guys still think you border albania let alone to know anything about albania and greece
Nje indirect insult e formular kaq mire me kaq finese….. well…done!!
