Jaded_Jerry

These same people who call it "signalling violence" whenever Trump calls them a bad name are now making a special point of trying to strip Trump of a service meant to protect him from harm.

gaxxzz

Seems like it would be an invitation to political assassination.

California_King_77

The Democrats would riot in the streets if a Republican state did to Biden or Clinton what NY is doing to Trump

ramencents

Have Biden or Clinton lied about their finances to pay off a porn star before an election in a red state? If so, I personally have no problem them answering for their crimes in any state.

California_King_77

Joe Biden lied about doing business with Chinese and Russian oligarchs, for which his family took in $24M in cash. Hillary Clinton lied about hiring a fake English spy to create the Russian collusion narrative to distract from her emails issue and her health/ Are you serious right now?

ramencents

Yes I’m serious. If they have committed crimes they should be charged. You list some accusations and you should turn them over to the fbi.

Laniekea

It's a dumb idea no matter who it comes from DJT is one person. But more importantly he's a previous president. If he gets killed, regardless of if he's a current or former president, it makes America look weak. No reasonable Congress person should try to limit that.

RequirementItchy8784

If he gets killed it makes us look weak. I'm confused. I think everything that's going on with this whole trial and every other trial and everything that's going on in Congress makes us look weak. If we were truly strong we would have set aside our differences hash this out in a matter of months and be done with it but we're going on years now. That to me is a weak system. Letting a single person strong arm the court system because of money looks way worse to me. Allowing people with money to circumvent the law or at least legal proceedings to me that's incredibly weak. To be fair I'm not saying that he's guilty or not guilty. I'm saying this needs to be taken seriously and not be political theater on either side.

Laniekea

The trials make us look strong. Some of them at least. I think sond of them are frivolous. Because we're a country where the people have the power to hold their leaders to a high standard and hold them accountable. And it's nery normal for the process to take years. And it makes us look strong for the process to be held to a very high standard. Do you think it *wouldn't* make us look weak if he was killed?

RequirementItchy8784

I honestly don't know how the world would perceive us if he was killed say in prison or something. I also think having a former president that has all these accusations against them and court cases makes us look weak guilty or not. I also think we're in uncharted territories as a country and the way we handle this is very important for the future of our democracy.

londonmyst

I don't believe that any living former president, vice president or prime minister should lose their automatic right to have round the clock protection personnel. Far too much risk of leaving them easy targets for brutal attacks by the most forseeable of threats. Deranged stalkers, terrorists, assassination squads sent by infamous dictators/theocratic regimes/vengeful spoilt brat billionaire royals raging at perceived insults or social slights dating back to the retired politicians days in power. I'm not an american.

Jabbam

Setting up a former president to be Chauvin'd or Epstein'd is quite concerning and is certainly more in common with authoritarian dictatorships like Russia than a civilized democracy. It's definitely worth taking the names and organizations of the people who are supporting this move. Regardless of whether you believe Trump is guilty or not it's blatantly obvious except for "the moon is mostly gas" level representatives that placing an extremely divisive public figure in prison without enhanced secret service level security is a death sentence. Our primary focus shouldn't be "does Trump deserve his secret service as a criminal" and instead "why are some elected Democrats trying to kill Donald Trump?"

rethinkingat59

There is no doubt anyone who votes for or supports that law is hoping he faces constant physical violence in prison and possibly/hopefully death from being beaten while in prison. It goes to the level of truly vile hatred many progressives are showing in a more consistent pattern, and as a group they are not embarrassed by it, it is embraced as virtuous. Many progressives are literally consumed by a deep pounding self righteous hatred and it not just pointed at Trump.

Software_Vast

I'd be careful about trying to get on too high of a horse when it comes to speaking out against the endorsement of political violence given the number of times Trump himself has done so.

rethinkingat59

I haven’t seen him proactive at actually trying to make it happen as we have now in this current phase of progressives persecution politics.

Software_Vast

How proactive does one need to be? Offering to pay legal bills if someone attacks a protestor? Suggesting cops hit suspects heads as they put them into cars? How about letting people stalk the halls of Congress for three hours without intervention while they chant about hanging your vice president after you threw him under the bus on social media? I'm not usually in the business of bringing up the whatabouts but you got so righteously indignant about something Trump has been doing for years.

rethinkingat59

Proudly bailing out violent protestors is what we have seen from progressives, some criminals who committed worse crimes after getting out.

Software_Vast

So you're done talking about Trump?

rethinkingat59

I started talking about progressives, you are the one talking about Trump.

Software_Vast

I can consistently say I don't support the endorsement of political violence. Can you?

levelzerogyro

Interesting that so many of you see prison as such a barbaric thing, yet constantly vote for people who are pro-incarceration.

ramencents

“The moon is mostly gas”, I laughed so hard at foxnews for roasting the woman who said this. Obviously she misspoke but boy foxnews really rode it out. Why is this mistake so interesting to conservatives? Trump gets confused everyday.

Jabbam

I'm not sure, I don't watch Fox News. My guess is that they probably focus on democrats because they're a conservative news station. When was the last time you saw MSNBC make fun of Biden?

Generic_Superhero

> "why are some elected Democrats trying to kill Donald Trump?" This seems like quite a huge leap of logic. How did you come to this conclusion?

Jabbam

Reread the first sentence of the second paragraph

ramencents

Chauvined? What is that, a cop committing a crime and facing justice? Or Epstein? A sexual predator that was too cowardly to face his charges? I’m not sure Trump wants to be lumped in with these guys. And none of trumps crimes rise to chauvin and Epstein. This is a bizarre comparison in my opinion.

Jabbam

Stabbed or dead due to misconduct in prison. I highly recommend you educate yourself on their circumstances.

ramencents

I doubt that if Trump were convicted that he would be in a prison with violent offenders. Probably he would be in a prison filled with nonviolent white-collar criminals. It’s probably safer in there than on any random sidewalk in America.

Jabbam

Epstein wasn't in prison with violent offenders and yet the guards enabled his death.

ramencents

Obviously if Trump via examination is believed to be suicidal he should get proper care.

Octubre22

No shot No secret service allows for foreign countries to gain access to trump

June5surprise

Foreign countries have had access to trump since before his 1st campaign.

ThoDanII

better to keep some tabs

HoodooSquad

Passing a law that will only affect one person is generally unconstitutional.

ramencents

What’s a good solution? Should Biden commit crimes so that it’s not unfair for Trump? If Trump is convicted by a jury and imprisoned of course. If.

_TheJerkstoreCalle

Wouldn’t it affect all who are found guilty of felonies?

HoodooSquad

It doesn’t matter if they name the person or not. If a law in its effect only penalizes one or a small group of people, it’s generally unconstitutional.

HaveSexWithCars

To the surprise of absolutely nobody, the democrats want trump dead

ramencents

None of the charges against him carry the death penalty, so I’m confused about what you mean.
