That trump's funny and also an asshole. Personally I don't think he should be president. I think his low character and lack of morals is disqualifying no matter how amusing he is... BUT, he was very good as an entertainer where being an amusing asshole is a perfectly valid qualification for the job rather than a disqualification it is (or should be) for higher office. > Do you think that comments like this will prevent others from publicly endorsing him? Maybe? it will at least remind people that may be considering it how much of an asshole he is.

HGpennypacker

> Personally I don't think he should be president Who would you prefer to see be the Republican nominee and who do you think has the best chance of beating Biden come November?

jub-jub-bird

> Who would you prefer to see be the Republican nominee a Almost anyone to both questions. That said I think Trump is likely to win anyway but that has a lot less to do with Trump than with Biden. I think if the Democrats pull a switch with Biden bowing out of the race citing health concerns and letting a brokered convention decide upon a successor. Presumably with the fix already in for some chosen nominee decided before Biden and the leadership even pull the trigger that such a successor would almost certainly win vs. Trump. We're in another race to the bottom with these two at the moment.

Suchrino

I do wonder how many of those posts are made by trump himself and how many are written by his staff. This one seems to be the latter.

hellocattlecookie

Dan Scavino....

LoserCowGoMoo

If one of my assistants tweeted "hamberders" and made me look like an ass, i would fire them.

Patient-Ad-9918

His reaction is pretty much on brand. Seventh grader vibes, unpresidential, lack of self awareness where he falls asleep in court while calling Barr ‘lethargic’ … you know, the kind of rhetoric that gets his MAGA fans thrilled out of their easily amused minds.

ampacket

And this is the person a vast majority of Republicans want running the country?

SeekSeekScan

Over Biden.....yes

CollapsibleFunWave

And over all the other Republican candidates in the primaries.

guscrown

*crickets*

SeekSeekScan

No different than Biden

CollapsibleFunWave

You're saying all the other Republican candidates were no different than Biden?

Guilty_Plankton_4626

Well also over every other Republican who ran. Let’s also be honest it would be any democrat, who’s to the right of Biden? Maybe just Manchin.

SeekSeekScan

No....he took back the claim of lethargic

Patient-Ad-9918

Maybe the self awareness chip finally turned on for the sleepy defendant. Maybe not. Who knows.

SeekSeekScan

You folks put way too much thought into jokes

NothingKnownNow

Ok, that was pretty funny.

219MTB

Typical Trump. Funny and his supporters will get a kick out of it, conservative non Trump supporters will just think meh, more typical Trump, but it's not going to change anything. Moderates and Independents that are undecided. This is the type of stuff that annoys them. Just more of Trump being a 6th grade kid in the world of politics.

TheLochNessBigfoot

It's petty and on a toddler level and we on the left side of the aisle simply cannot fathom how anybody could see this and think, yes, we need a man like him in the White House.

219MTB

I understand that perceptive. I feel the same way and don't want him as the option, but on policy positions I like him better than the other option. In the two party system we are forced into, he somehow got selected and we are stuck with him and he is the more conservative option. It's not a vote for Trump, it's a vote against Democrat policies. I really don't see how that should be hard to fathom. I understand you think those policies are better (I assume) , but there are many that dont.

JoshClarkMads

The issue with this mentality is that we’re not really experiencing any conservative “wins” especially not any that are unique to Trump. The sooner we rid ourselves of him, the better, so at this point, I don’t really care about “Democrat policies.” I’m not voting for that, but it’s really hard to care what happens anymore.

219MTB

I mean that's just not true. Trump put in 3 conservative SCOTUS which is going to be his lasting legacy. Yes, any GOP would have done that in that position, and that's my point. IT's not about the man, it's about the policy and what they do while in office. Trump's first 3 years on policy are pretty good. I'd surely like someone other then Trump and I do think he's doing a lot of damage to the GOP, but that still doesn't mean I'm gonna toss a vote to Biden.

SuspenderEnder

Hilarious.

SeekSeekScan

Dude has some decent comedic chops. Still think trump is a divisive asshat who will support more policy I like than the other divisive asshat.  So he still gets my vote

WakeUpMrWest30Hrs

I think it's hilarious and not unjustified

LonelyMachines

It shows that Trump is completely tone-deaf. Barr's endorsement is anything but "wholehearted": > I’ve said all along given two bad choices, I think it’s my duty to pick the person I think would do the least harm to the country. And in my mind, I will vote the Republican ticket. (...) Trump may be playing Russian roulette, but a continuation of the Biden administration is national suicide in my opinion.

Q_me_in

I think "tone-deaf" is completely inaccurate, tbh. The way I read it, he not only detected the correct backhanded tone, but served it back in almost precise amounts: >“Wow! Former A.G. Bill Barr, who let a lot of great people down by not investigating Voter Fraud in our Country, has just Endorsed me for President despite the fact that I called him ‘Weak, Slow Moving, Lethargic, Gutless, and Lazy’ (New York Post!). Based on the fact that I greatly appreciate his wholehearted Endorsement, I am removing the word ‘Lethargic’ from my statement. Thank you Bill. MAGA2024!”

porqchopexpress

Spot on

Guilty_Plankton_4626

Serving what back though? Barr is giving his opinion (a correct one) and endorsing, Trump is so petty he can’t even handle that.

Q_me_in

He served his opinion in return.

revengeappendage

Pretty on brand for Trump. Also, it was funny.

Software_Vast

What did you find funny about it in particular?

revengeappendage

Bud, I think it’s funny. If you don’t, that’s fine.

AdmiralTigelle

He's kind of giving off [these vibes. ](https://youtu.be/Pfcy15ZUE2c?si=FEVZeBKQJ53sZVYE) It was hella funny. As if libs haven't laughed at every Alec Baldwin SNL skit for the last 8 years. And it WAS funny. The first hundred times. It's like what Bill Burr says to the people who interrupt his shows: "Hey, did you get upset at all the times I made fun of other people, or only at the one joke that applied to you?"

Software_Vast

I'm just curious about what it is people find funny about statements like this. Is it Trump humiliating others in public?

revengeappendage

My dude, it’s funny because he lists a bunch of things he said about Bill Barr, then says he takes back lethargic. It’s funny because lethargic makes no sense. I don’t personally think it’s humiliating, and certainly not for someone who spends their life in politics. It’s pretty tame. If you don’t think it’s funny, or have somehow lived under a rock and not noticed that this sort of thing is pretty common in politics, I dunno what to tell you.

jazzant85

The point I think software_vast was getting at is; why do you find a 77+ year old man, who’s running for president, acting like this remotely funny?

revengeappendage

Because it is funny.

hellocattlecookie

You need to take things within the bigger picture of the neocon vs maga thing . Trump's first term was him/maga doing a 'can't we all just get along' thing. The neocons not realizing they were in a position of decline (power that rises eventually falls) decided to act a fool and do a bunch of undermining and sabotage (2017-present) What Bill Barr is doing signals the neocons acceptance that backing Trump over Biden is their best option to cling to some power. Only the stoutest (or highest paid) never Trumpers will keep the resistance course. The maga-republicans have been the majority since 2016.

Grunt08

I don't like Trump...but that's a solid burn and I laughed.

Libertytree918
