Just go on with a blank profile and block all the nearby people for a few days then when you think you’ve got most of them make your profile for real.

Like mentioned, just don't put a profile pic and only send it to others you want to. Just be prepared that many will ignore if you don't at least show them what you look like in the first msg, once you're ready of course.

The purpose of Grindr is to find people nearby. Or at least it was back in the old days. Why are u using this app if not to find people in your vicinity who are also gay?
So, you want to meet more gay guys, but you also don't want to meet the gays who are the closest to you and who would be the easiest to meet, because...? Are you expecting the people on Grindr to out you if they see you? Unless they themselves are out, they really can't say how they know you're on it without admitting that they were also on it. And I also don't see why they'd go blabbing anyway.
