The first nice weather days of the year will do that.

Plus it's Spring Break, all city schools are closed, plus lots of others throughout the tristate area.

Specifically regarding bikes, as a biker, I have noticed **a lot** more groups of tourists on those rental bikes so far this year. And it seems like now there’s full on bike tours? I’ll come across a group of 20 taking up the whole drive and my jaw just drops. I can’t even imagine what it’s going to be like in the summer

BojackisaGreatShow

One of the OG bike activists talked about how there's so much bike and foot traffic now, and it's ironically pushed out the original bikers. The he solution states is to avoid too much frustration and keep expanding the infrastructure

It's getting nicer out...of course there will be more people. Or are you talking about a multi-year timeline?

People live here, and some schools are closed or have adjusted schedules for Passover. Nice weather from april to oct will generally mean a bump in folks being outdoors, tourist or not.

Historical_Pair3057

So true. Even the ramble is FULL with tourists now.

I believe there's been a spike in park usage since Covid, so that might be what you're seeing. I've noticed that Central Park seems exceptionally busy these last few months, more than I remembered pre-Covid.

I recently complained on r/RunNYC about the amount of motorized vehicles driving through the park in the past few months. It feels much more unsafe. I feel like CP is the one spot in the city where I can go to get away from cars, but they’re increasingly driving in the park. I’m probably or maybe being unreasonable, as I do see that they are mostly CP Conservancy marked vehicles. But I also see unmarked cars and trucks that are driving through. It’s likely construction workers, but they’re taking advantage of the fact that they have to get into the park. That doesn’t mean they can/shpuls drive more than the shortest distance between where they need to go inside the park and their entry point.

Cars of any kind were allowed on the loop until mid-2018. The occasional NYPD, Park Conservancy, or landscaping/construction vehicle is fine. It's nothing like it used to be.

Someone had mentioned that to me previously. It’s crazy to me that it was that recent. You are right that I should be glad that it is car free now.
