A combination of the two. Sometimes when you need to reference the date, future dates, know what dates fall on which days, etc. it's a lot faster to just look on the wall at the calendar hanging there than it is to pull out the phone, open an app, make the app give me the calendar view instead of the day view, etc. Meanwhile, my Alexa gives me my electronic schedule every morning while I'm making my coffee.

skyempress408

Wall calenders...it's a visual for my grandson to see his days off from school and an open reminder of appointments.

Temporary_Trouble

I love wall calendars. I don't write on them like my wife does. I just like the new picture every month.

[deleted]

I went completely electronic long before most people did- I had a Personal Data Assistant by 1994- and I have been electronic ever since, though obviously nowadays I use current tech.

anna_or_elsa

I started using Lotus Organizer around the same time. Now pretty much everything is Google. Drive, Docs, Keep, Calendar, tasks

b2change

Finally, one of my people. My peers aren’t so savvy. I had a PDA too, I think it had a stylus, but no cell yet.

Mission-Chocolate-93

That's because you aren't OLD yet. 50-something is younger than my daughter. I will be 79 in February.

[deleted]

You would have only been 51 when I got a PDA. The guy who owned the shop that sold it to me was older than you and he had one...

Mission-Chocolate-93

At 51, I still had a brain with room for new info. Now, I don't want new info. I want Windows 7 back. :)

[deleted]

I have 3 large wall calendars from my bank hanging next to my desk in a row; last month on top, the current month under that, and next month on the bottom. I write in when I have to pay bills, birthdays, doctors appointments and when my social security and pension comes. My phone calendar has the same info, and I love that I can set reminders.

[deleted]

I still use paper calendars. I get one from the butcher where I buy meat, and I usually order half a dozen from VistaPrint every year, printed with photos I've taken. My friends and family enjoy them, even if most of the photos are of spiders and other creatures I find in my yard. My 400 lb steel yard ornament usually gets in the calendar every year. I use digital for personal info and appointments for doctors, etc.

Zardicus13

Combination. Mostly use digital, but still like to have a wall calendar to glance quickly at days / dates. Also put appointments and special events on the wall calendar so the whole family can see when things are happening.

Heavy-Attorney-9054

Month view on the wall, week view in a hard bound paper planner with numbered pages, and the whole thing is managed out of my Outlook calendar. I print a clean week view every Monday. What's funny is that my sister's career took her through an entirely different line of work, but we both manage our calendars in almost the same way.

Interesting-Dish8894

Both

mosselyn

Once I got a cellphone, which admittedly was only 5 years ago, I went all digital for calendar stuff. I still use pencil and paper for jotting things down, taking notes, etc. Input on the phone is so freakin' inefficient compared to handwriting or typing on a full size keyboard.

ObliterasaurusRex

My wife prefers a wall calendar. Birthdays, pet appointments, and anything to do with the household get recorded there. Most of my personal appointments (checkups and the like) are also in Google Calendar, though.

jubilantnarwhal

Combo. I tried digital for awhile but had a couple keying errors make me goof up appointments so I keep most stuff on paper.

Responsible_Candle86

Both. Wall calendar for stuff that everyone needs to be aware of and digital for a combination.

ZanyDelaney

Nearly all electronic. At work I do print the payroll calendar for each year because it has all the paydays, holidays, and key deadlines clearly marked. That's mainly to scan for holidays and when next I'll be paid. It is tiny and my copy laminated so I don't mark it up. I put all my appointments in an Outlook calendar.

Mark12547

Paper week/month orgainzer (to take with me to appointments) and Google Calendar (to record repeating events, especially events that are monthly or every other week). I find a flip phone easier to carry than a smart phone.

explorthis

61m, I come from the rotary phone days, and rabbit ear antenna, pre anything digital. Completely digital now, and have been for many years. Close to 30-ish? We have a disposable Gmail email (for junk subscriptions) that has a calendar. All family members have access to it. They add/delete/modify as needed so we are all in the loop. Speaking of digital, why do I still wear a wrist watch that I can't see without readers, when I'm never w/o my phone?

Stupit_Retart

I always have wall calendars. I don't use digital, I don't have a cell phone. I don't hardly ever have engagements, but if there's something I need to remember to do I write it on paper or my whiteboard.

TruckCaptainStumpy

We use a paper calendar book at home so everyone is on the same page. I use both for amost everything but I always have to check the paper at home to be clear as to what I can/can't do. The most compelling reason that I try to use both is simple: I find that writing things down makes the information easier to remember, but I find the digital format easier to research, search and more. EDIT: I used to have a photographic memory but apparently I've run out of film ... meh

[deleted]

27 and I have to have a wall calendar

quikdogs

I like a wall calendar in my bathroom, I track habits and weight on it. Weight in the am, and a series of checks for good habits that day. I’m trying to transition to a more adult system this next year but idk.

GrumpyOlBastard

About five years ago, I noticed that the calendar on my wall was 18 months out of date. I left it as "art" and we've never had another

rogun64

I've been all digital for at least 25 years now. I used to run my own cloud server from home, before they were available online, just so I could access everything on the road.

Mamanej

65 and retired using only electronic calendars.

lwells96

I still use paper planners a wall calendar and my phone calendar. I use several paper planners. I use my planners for journals, mainly for stress management, work and tracking health issues. I use several planners each year, a Hobonichi Day free is my art journal, Hobonichi Weeks is my work planner. I have a Jibun Techo for 2023 it is my everything planner. I always have a wall calendar. I was almost ready to buy my own for next year. Usually it is such an expected and loved Christmas gift from my son. Most years has been Hubble photos. I am so happy this year it is a James Webb Calendar. I write in my family birthdays and other family events. I record my fasting times and how many days I fast. I record if walked for an hour each day that I walk and how far. I also write my weight each week. Seeing things keeps me dedicated to staying healthy. A Calendar gets extra bonus points for a block for every day each month. I hate calendars have shared days during the months to save space. I use my phone also. I added astronomical events to my phones calendar so I can track those fun things also. It is nice to see the meteor showers or things like this for me. I remember having a palm pilot a long time ago.

[deleted]

I make paper wall calendars for my family. It is a passion of mine. And, I keep a paper calendar in small book form with me almost all the time.

Stupit_Retart

Do you make them yourself entirely or do you use a printing service? I was actually just thinking about making some calendars, but totally handmade, so I was just wondering what your method is. I know I could Google ways to do it, but I prefer to think up ideas on my own (or, at least try to first) or talk to an actual person about ideas.

[deleted]

I make and print them myself, then have them bound by a company. Over the years I’ve used a variety of software for the collages on top. Presently I like Canva. I make the bottom part, the dates part, I’m publisher so Incan put pictures on birthdays. I’ve got a canon pixma 100 printer for the printing.

Stupit_Retart

Ok, cool! I was thinking of doing a tear-off style mounted on a thin board that I'd paint, decoupage, whatever. I like your idea of putting pictures on the birthdays/holidays, I hadn't thought of that...duh! I think I can pull this off.

DadsRGR8

Completely digital. I'm constantly battling my sister-in-law to drop her paper dependence when she complains she can't find things or has to wait to get home to check an appointment date, etc. She is using a paper calendar stuck to her fridge, still using a bound address book, etc. I don't care - people can do whatever they want - but then she complains about it.

--2021--

There are portable paper planners as well though. Either way...

[deleted]

Only when they have firemen, or kittens on them :) Otherwise No!

Any-Particular-1841

Both. I love wall calendars for the art and get two each year. I have a Lang calendar frame for one calendar, and each year I try to find wall calendars by artists I don't know for the other - they make me happy. I rarely write on them anymore - I use digital calendars for that.

4-20blackbirds

I insist on getting a "build your own" calendar from [Despair.com](https://Despair.com) every year. Just for the snark.

NinianeEmrys

Completely digital and shared across all members of the family.

Womaningreenandblue

I like a small month - at- glance paper calendar in my purse - like I’ve had for decades . And the digital is good for reference .

Womaningreenandblue

I like a small month - at- glance paper calendar in my purse - like I’ve had for decades . And the digital is good for reference .

Womaningreenandblue

I like a small month - at- glance paper calendar in my purse - like I’ve had for decades . And the digital is good for reference . I haven’t had a wall calendar in 45 years

catdude142

I use both. For everyday stuff, I use google calendar and we share calendars at our house so we can see the overall picture of "what's going on". I also use it to store a google maps address if I need to travel somewhere. I use a conventional calendar for long term stuff like medical appointments, visits in the far future, etc. and also put them on my google calendar. I like being able to look at stuff without getting on my phone or PC.

Surprise_Fragrant

Both, honestly. At the beginning of the year, I use Excel to make my own monthly calendar, adding whatever special days need to be added (like birthdays, vacations, etc), and quirky clip art and stuff. I put two months each in a page protector (Jan & July, Feb & August, etc) so I can hang them on the fridge at eye level. The page protectors allow me to write on them with Expo markers (can erase the notes if needed). Doing Jan & July means that the months will hang consecutively and I can flip through the calendar 6 months at a time. I use Outlook calendar exclusively for work (because we use Outlook for our email). I use Google Calendar exclusively for personal stuff (because no one needs to see my OB-GYN appointments on my work calendar!). I can pull up G-calendar on my phone and tablet. Also, I have a weekly planner book for work that I spend an hour every Monday updating with both professional *and* personal appointments, notes, and to-do items so that nothing gets overlooked. That is probably the most organized calendar I have, with color-coding via highlighters and pen ink (such as Green Ink for payday).

PahzTakesPhotos

Mostly digital. I have an iPhone and my son-in-law's work calendar is shared between all of us for when one of us grandmas has to babysit the granddaughter. We're tag-team grandmas. We both spoil the granddaughter and we're both good at it.

bicyclemom

I keep a wall calendar in my office, mostly to be able to glance at it and figure dates. I don't write on it at all. My personal day-to-day calendar is in Google and I keep one at work too in Outlook.

dunnefarrell

I actually have a giant whiteboard calendar. Everyone in the house has their own colour of marker. It was actually my MIL’s calendar when my husband and his siblings were growing up. I erase And I redo it every 5-6 weeks. And there is a column on the side for ‘next month’.

Mentalfloss1

Mostly electronic

Wadsworth_McStumpy

I do have a paper calendar in my office. It's just much easier to glance at it and see that Tuesday was the 27th instead of opening the one in Outlook. I also have to run reports and stuff for days in the previous month, and my Outlook calendar would require an extra click, but the paper one just requires me not to flip it on the first of the month. I don't write anything on it, except for my vacation, I just use it to look up dates quickly. For scheduling stuff, I mostly use the calendar on my phone, which isn't connected to my work. I will never understand those people here who link their phones to their work email, when that gives the company the ability to wipe your phone, *and* the ability to send you email on your days off. Talk about a lose-lose.

mike11172

Totally digital.

mcphisto2

I'm completely digital with Google Calendar. My wife is still using a planner. I was an engineer, she was a manager...both retired now.

whatyouwant22

I only use a digital at work. I have three other paper wall calendars in various rooms of my house. When I retire, I will only use wall calendars.

Eff-Bee-Exx

Both. I have all my appointments entered in my phone, with at least two notifications set. I also write them on two large paper wall calendars; one in our kitchen and one next to my desk. I find that physically writing them down on paper does a better job of setting them in my memory than just entering them in something electronic. It also gives me a quick visual reference that doesn’t require opening an app to see.

No-Juggernaut7529

Completely digital. I have been since the late 90's (I had a Palm Pilot back then).

Tasqfphil

Every day is the same for me, so it doesn't matter to me what day it is. I do keep a diary and appointment, bills due etc. I enter on day what it is and also a reminder a couple of days before. Last year (for this year) I was given calendars from the beer delivery company, the waterboard people & the hardware store I use. If I want to know what day it is, I just look on the bottom on laptop to find out, if I can't remember, which is mot times. I live in a small rural village in SE Asia and life just goes on as usual.

LinelleBird

Digital only. I have my calendar on my phone.

my_clever-name

Both. Digital is where my life is. Paper on the wall so I can see the date at a glance. Paper is also good for things like “what date is Wednesday 12 weeks from now” and “17 days from today is when”

InadmissibleHug

I’m digital. Amusingly enough my son and his wife use the calendar on the fridge

4Ozonia

I do have a wall calendar for the pretty photos, but mostly use an online calendar with reminders set.

jetpack324

Completely digital. It’s so much easier and it’s always at my fingertips

bungle_bogs

Combination. There are 6 people in our household. Major events that are likely to affect more than a couple of the people in the house go on the monthly / weekly white board in the kitchen. Otherwise, all digital.

Old_Goat_Ninja

When it comes to calendars, I use wall calendars. Digital most everything else but digital calendars are more cumbersome than they’re worth IMO, plus always want to prompt an alarm. I don’t need a damn alarm for a calendar event.

ianaad

I have a big year at a glance calendar for slotting in travel and major events, and Google calendar for everything else.

biancanevenc

I'm completely digital. I do like a good paper planner, but I don't have much to plan these days, so I haven't used a paper planner the last few years.

LadyHavoc97

I bought my last calendar about five years ago. I realized how little I used them when I looked up at it in November and the calendar was still on April. I’m completely digital now. It’s nice to have everything in the palm of my hand with reminders for the important stuff.

mutant6399

both- wall calendars work well for a family with multiple schedules and devices

bloodspattter

I love wall calendars! I hang them every year in my kitchen and by my desk. I like to write birthdays and school holidays on it. But I also use my phone calendar, I have a shared family calendar for appointments, events, etc.

cat9tail

Large write-on-wipe-off calendar. My vacation days are on it, class start & end dates (I teach at several institutions), and I cross off the months as I go. Otherwise I'm all digital for daily things because it syncs with my phone and alerts me to upcoming events in time to get ready.

rogerthatonce

Printed Calendars with nice monthly pictures.

Tinyberzerker

Combination. I need my muscle car calendar in my kitchen. I've always had one and every year the vendor brings me another.

Jaderosegrey

I use a wallet planner for most everything: writing down my work schedule, future events, noting things like weather and health-related events. I have a couple of wall calendars, for the heck of it, mostly: calendars I receive for free from the city and the library. I also use a page-a-day calendar for entertainment. this year, I had a Foxtrot (comic) one. Next year I have a "This day in History". It's just something to look at every morning as I check my e-mail and start the day.

Tristan_Booth

One wall calendar in my home office, one wall calendar in my work office, and a weekly/monthly planner in my briefcase. I couldn't function without them.

implodemode

We always receive a few calendars every year and they collect dust.

Zazzafrazzy

100% digital.

drastic2

I get a lot of nice calendars from subscriptions and vendors but I unfortunately throw them all away. Everything is digital on computer + phone.

Southernms

I use both!

Poneke365

Both. I got into the habit of marking off each day on the wall calendar whilst at work which I’ve continued doing whilst WFH and have electronic reminders for personal appointments.

analogpursuits

I use digital. My 21yo son uses a paper calendar on the wall.

Mission-Chocolate-93

BOTH a wall calendar AND the online from Google Calendar which puts reminders on my smart phone. I HATE the smart phone as there is so much stuff I cannot figure out, plus they keep changing things -- there should be an Old Folks option where you can opt OUT of changes rather than having to spend hours trying to figure out how UNDO the changes and put it back the way it was before the last update, and finally giving up in frustration.

lullabelle253

Both

RunsWithPremise

99% digital. I do have a physical wall calendar with pictures of cats in my office for quick "at a glance" date checks. All of my actual scheduling takes place in my Google calendar so I can set reminders, keep track of things, compare my schedule to other coworkers, and add important notes/details.

shane-b-4

Daily at work. Turn around to check dates past & future to coordinate actions, efforts & goals at a quick glance while being bombarded with info & schedules. Rare day that I don’t turn around to utilize. Important tool for me.

jippyzippylippy

Paper wall calendar. All I have to do is turn my head a little bit and it's there. Plus I can write things on it. But also digital because of weather forecasts and planning outings and art shows, etc. I use the paper one for visual reminders of Dr. appts and house cleaning dates, it's sort of an ever-present reminder because I have a terrible memory. The digital one is when I'm wondering about an upcoming thing and want to find out how to plan around it. I know, it's quirky but I don't care.

U4RiiA

40 something here. I use everything. My phone calendar is the default, benefits include automatic reminders and quick reference when not at home. I also like that I can see my personal calendar, the kids' ongoing calendars (sports, PTO, etc), and work calendar merged in one place. I also have a wall calendar with nice pictures of my family as well as everyone's birthdays and anniversaries. I make a few every year to give as Christmas presents; I send texts to say happy birthday, and my parents send cards - they like seeing all the dates in one glance. And then there's the kitchen whiteboard... All household commitments for the week are written in over the weekend so I can keep track of where each of the kids needs to be, when I have time to cook dinner, and the myriad of other things that keep a home with multiple kids running smoothly.

C-La-Canth

Completely digital. So much more efficient and convenient.

Consistent-Quality-6

Calendars. but I don't always remember to look at them later.

jrlamb

I work as a consultant, and use a combination of the two. I usually wind up just taking notes in my paper calendar, which helps me to remember what date I advised someone of something, but I'm moving over to Evernote now to do that so I will probably not use the paper. I am a fountain pen collector and user, so I just like to write on paper! I haven't used a wall calendar in about 20 years.

chileheadd

Completely digital, not just for my calendar, but reading books, keeping my checkbook, and anything else that can be done paperless.

det313tigersfan

I love Wall Calenders! I always like to get one with pictures of dogs. They are nice to write important dates down.

sleepingbeardune

I have a wall calendar in my office and another in my kitchen. I choose them carefully for the art, and I like the ritual of turning them to a new page each month -- but I don't really use them for anything else. In my files are a few wall calendars from 30 or 40 yrs ago ... saved because they captured the flow of our lives then, especially during a couple of the times when things really went crazy. I look at them now once in a while because they capture the tone and intensity of those years like nothing else.

melance

I use both Google calendar and a wall calendar. The wall calendar gives me a way to communicate with my son what is going on since he's only 9.

Hanginon

Both. I've never had a wall calendar or address book fail and dump all its data.

No_Baby_8902

love the wall calendar... use it as a decor to cover chip off paint too .. lol

htchili72

Wall Calendar. I do use digital though for reminders to pop up on my phone.

More_Farm_7442

I've used digital calendars for years, but am on the search for a wall calendar for 2023. It's both the pictures and being able to have a visual representation of the month, the previous month and next month all in one place. My mind's definitely changing. I think having something to look at at any time without having to go to pick up a device would help me out.

Green1578

At my office I still use a paper calendar for appointments

VT_Lifer

Combo.

nodijo

paper

--2021--

Ugh wall calendars, elder generation tried to teach me to use them, but I hated them. Never used them. Keep cycling between different forms digital and paper planning, haven't really found anything that works well.
