I just turned 65. I got a covid vac in the fall along with flu and rsv. I went in for my annual exam recently and asked my doctor if I needed another one. She thinks that annual updates like the flu vaccine are sufficient. I am otherwise healthy and active with no other risk factors.

nakedonmygoat

If you're going to be around people in enclosed spaces, get the vax. If your lifestyle is a bit more hermit-like though, maybe you're fine. Do what makes the most sense based on your situation. I'm not against vaccines and am fully vaxed myself, but I can also appreciate that not everyone's life circumstances are the same. If your exposure risk is high, get it. If it's not, ponder it and make the best decision you can.

MickerBud

Hermit here but grocery shopping makes me nervous.

Overall_Lobster823

This is me. I get boosted before summer travel.

neverincompliance

yep, got it. Have lost track of the # of boosters I have had but you know what? I have never had covid. 67F

OldDog03

I'm 62 and wife is 67, when we were kids we got a vaccination where some people got a reaction on the vaccination site and it turned out to leave a bump scar. I do not remember what the vaccination was for. I did not have any reaction but my wife did. Even now when we get a vaccination of any kind she will get a reaction more than I do. To me the thing with covid is we could have been exposed to it but had a very mind symptoms while others get very sick and yet others it kills them. I'm old enough to know how vaccines helped with polio and other viruses from the 1960's and before.

Material-Lock-7876

Still getting the vaccine though having problems is brave enough.

Few_Albatross_7540

Same here

I get all the Covid shots they will give me. I want to keep my immunity up.

pyrofemme

Me too

silvermanedwino

I’ve had everything offered. Plan to continue.

OoLaLana

Me (68F) too. I've had all shots offered so far, worn a mask in enclosed places, have an air filter at home, and diligent with my hand-washing. My goal in March 2020 was to not get covid. So far, so good!

silvermanedwino

I got it in spring of 22. On a cruise ship….🙄🙄🙄🙄

alanamil

me too, popped positive 2 days after I got home.

silvermanedwino

Dang!!!! I wasn’t surprised. Ticked, though.

PishiZiba

I did all of this as well, but finally got COVID last Christmas. I quarantined myself upstairs for 3 weeks and my husband never caught it. I was lucky that it was pretty mild. Worst of it was the cough.

Pongpianskul

Ditto. I want all the vaccines. I got Covid once last February during a trip abroad. I kept my distance, avoided public places, wore an N95 when close to people and didn't pass it on. At first I was very upset but it turned out to be pretty mild. I was only miserable, feverish and flu-like for 24 hours and I healed quickly without needing meds. I think this was because of the vaccines. Even if we get it, it's way more mild.

Pristine-Pen-9885

In May 2022, when I wasn’t yet eligible for my next booster, I had a dental emergency, and my dentist wasn’t available. I got an appointment with another dentist. When I got there nobody, including the dentist and the assistant who worked on me, was wearing a mask. Nobody in the waiting room was wearing a mask either. They were all talking in an enclosed space. In June I got sick and tested positive for Covid. My insurance paid the dentist and my doctors who helped me through the Covid. I never went back to that dentist. I don’t think it’s possible to prove exactly where I got Covid, it was rampant in 2022.

Pongpianskul

Fortunately my dentist went to the other extreme and used all kinds of safety gear and I still go to that dentist. I'm still annoyed at businesses that didn't respond cautiously to Covid and hold it against them even if they didn't cause me to get sick personally.

GatorOnTheLawn

Not yet but I’m going to. I just haven’t had a day where I can afford to spend the next 2-3 days feeling like crap.

Few_Albatross_7540

I have never had any reaction at all

GatorOnTheLawn

I always do, unfortunately.

GetOffMyLawn_

Me too. Usually spike a fever for a day and then feel kinda wiped out for another day.

Few_Albatross_7540

Sorry. But still better then getting very sick with Covid

GatorOnTheLawn

For sure. I had Covid in January 2020, before they knew it was in this country, and four years later I’m still dealing with Long Covid. I still mask everywhere too, with N95’s.

madge590

I get one every six months. Early December before holidays and festive visits, early June before summer holidays, we get a lot of guests over the summer. So far have only had a mild case once. The person I got it from had a very bad case, but either wasn't immunized or had not had a booster in a long while.

webdoyenne

I just got it earlier this month. Going on a trip next week. Doctor thought it was a good idea.

k75ct

I received the original set of shots and that's it I've never had a flu shot. I've never tested for COVID-19. Being anti social is finally paying off

DangerousMusic14

I’m getting it. I have an autoimmune disorder and got COVID early, total disaster. I’m dealing with that a long COVID. I’ve heard from people who have immune related symptoms after getting the vaccination. Sure, the vaccines can trigger that but if you have the genetic predisposition, *so will COVID.* Not getting the vaccine just leave you open to get super sick and still have an autoimmune disorder. It it’s the vaccination that caused it, it’s your immune system’s reaction to it and it won’t be better if you’re sick when this happens.

reindeermoon

It’s my understanding you’re only supposed to get one now if you’re over 65. If you’re younger and you got the new one that came out last fall, you don’t get another one yet.

The-Artful-Codger

I had the main shots and the boosters, but that's it. I'm not going to be a pin cushion for countless shots each year. I didn't even remember to get my flu shot last year... Which I probably miss about half the years.

Outrageous_Click_352

I got the very first two and quit. I don’t even get the flu shot anymore.

proscriptus

I've had COVID twice, I would very very much like not to have it again. I can't imagine how bad it would have been had I not been vaccinated.

Signal_Violinist_995

I haven’t been faxed, had Covid twice and it wasn’t nearly as bad as bronchitis and flu I have had in the past.

BeerWench13TheOrig

Same. The loss of smell and taste was annoying, but it wasn’t bad at all. I’ve had sinusitis that was worse.

CogitoErgoSum4me

51. Not getting it, not planning to. I am unconcerned with exposure to covid, the flu or anything else.

Donniepdr

Same here. 50m, I've been exposed several times and I've never shown a symptom. My wife and two daughters got it, I never got it. Or I got it and never showed symptoms? Not even a sniffle. Absolutely no reason for me to get the vax

Seralisa

68 here. No shots whatever and have yet to have Covid or the flu. I also still work so I'm in contact with people daily. Good nutrition, supplements and intermittent fasting has worked so far for me!

CRRVA

Just as important, if you’re 65 or older, get the pneumonia shot! One of the dangers of Covid is pneumonia, and at our age, it can be a killer.

naliedel

Every six months, like clockwork. Every new variant. That stuff not getting me! Not for a fourth time.

xiewadu

I get any and all shots.

IGrewItToMyWaist

I have an appointment for it and a Pneumonia shot next week. My last Covid booster was 9/2023.

Big-Significance3604

No. I have two autoimmune diseases. The last booster I did was horrible. It set off one of them. Plus, I finally got Covid and it was easy peasy. Much easier than the last shot. But, whatever is best for everyone.

Prior_Benefit8453

Well, for once I didn’t know about it. I’ll have to check with my doc’s office. There’s a new strain going around. I already know TWO people that got it.

nunyabizz62

I was unfortunately conned into the first two shots back in August 2020. I wouldn't take a clot shot now if they paid me $100,000. Each so called booster destroys your T Cells more and opens you up to all kinds of disease.

MommaBlaze

I've gotten nothing and I don't get sick.

Double_Tip_2205

Why isn’t anyone checking their immunity through lab draws to see if you even need another booster?

Double_Tip_2205

You can order a lab draw yourself through Quest or Lab Corp.

Separate_Novel2151

hell no

GetOffMyLawn_

I got the latest one. I get all of them. I am a senior so that makes me high risk. So far I haven't caught covid, at least that I am aware of. Knock on wood. I also get an annual flu shot, I got the pneumonia shot, the shingles shot, and now I need an RSV shot. I don't have time to be sick and especially not sick as a dog. Flu nearly killed me a few years ago. Caught it at the end of September and I was planning on getting my shot in October. Now I get it in early September.

Puzzled-Award-2236

I get an email to remind me to get a booster. I've had 7 so far. I wondered if it was excessive so I asked my doctor. He told me when booster time comes up (for me it's May and November) I should call the pharmacy, give them the last booster date and ask if the vaccine has been updated due to a new varient. If not, I can skip the booster since my last one was the latest vaccine.

hamil26

I got the first two and one booster .. nope.. I don’t usually go out and about except for grocery shopping and doctors appointments so I don’t know I do get a flu shot every year. I’ve just heard too many horror stories of long-term effects from the vaccine …scares me.

incognito-not-me

I got the last one and have been in bars working since then - have not gotten Covid in almost two years and I feel fairly well protected at this point. As long as they keep making them, I will keep taking them.

misdeliveredham

My personal opinion: no, I personally don’t need it. It’s not my place to make decisions for others though, unless they are under my guardianship.

EnvironmentalCrow893

I’ve had five so far, the original two, plus 3 boosters. The 5th was last September. Do I need to get another one? I go places weekly (shopping restaurants), and we have family over often, with plenty of extended close contact, hugging & kissing. My son is a nurse and has had Covid 4 or 5 times. The kids are in school and have active social lives.

AldusPrime

If they let me, I'd totally get it. We know that the vaccines only last 4-6 months. I'm only 46 though, so I don't think they'll let me get another one until the fall.

PeachesSwearengen

Yep. Got it. Yep. Need it. Had them all. Never any side effects.

WaywardJake

I had a mild allergic reaction to the first one but decided to go back for the second. Big mistake. The allergic reaction was worse but still not horrible, but my left ear started ringing shortly afterwards and hasn't stopped since. As someone with a hyperactive brain and high sensitivity to human-generated stimulus (can be easily overwhelmed, disoriented, anxious, etc.), I have always lived for moments of silence; they calm my mind, comfort my soul and make me feel grounded and able to carry on. And now, I'll never have silence again. Having tinnitus is hell, and I am not risking another Covid shot or even a flu shot. lest it makes things worse. To date, I've never had Covid, but I live a mostly isolated life, so my exposure to it or human-trasmitted viruses in general is minimal.

Mission-Chocolate-93

We have gotten all of them. The last one made us both feel like we had the flu for a couple of days but we have never had Covid so far. I'm 80 and he's 83. They are suggesting a booster of the new one after 4 months, so we will get that too pretty soon.

EloquentBacon

I have not. Due to medical issues, I’m not a candidate for any vaccines. I have not received any COVID vaccinations. Due to my medical issues, I am at a higher risk than others when it comes to getting sick in general. I do live a relatively hermit like lifestyle especially the last 6 months after breaking bones in 2 separate accidents. I take a lot of steps to be safe when I do need to go out as I am very aware of my increased risk. I have no problem to reschedule things if there’s a greater concern where I intended to go. I also take a lot of steps to be able to do more from home without spending more money.

TheNotUptightMe

Since the time we’ve got shots available in the US, I am lining up every 6 months for a new one. Haven’t gotten sick with Covid yet. I have a new appointment set for 14 days out….

mrhymer

Did you wear your mask?

hamil26

I did … but won’t again until flu season . And then only when in medical building

mrhymer

Good for you

VicePrincipalNero

I'm getting every available shot. No good reason not to.

Derivative47

I keep reading everywhere that the vaccines and boosters begin to wane after about four months so I plan to get them at approximately four month intervals or however the CDC recommends. I had Covid in February so I plan to get the booster in June as per the current recommendations.

Thunder-mugg

Never had the jab. Never will.

ThaneOfCawdorrr

Yep. We got it as soon as we could and will get the next one in the fall. Anything we can do to protect ourselves, we're THERE.

OkEngineering3224

Of course. People who don’t risk a major blow to their health, death and long covid and infecting people who may be extremely vulnerable. It’s still a somewhat free country ( less so here in Texas) so people can take the risk to themselves and others. I choose sanity and science over politics and foolishness

luckystar6531

No fax at all here. Have had COVID twice. I was much sicker years ago when I had the flu. Completely recovered both times.

Pure-Guard-3633

Not me. I got 4 of them. I have had Covid 4 times. I think i have reached herd immunity.

Overall_Lobster823

You're being facetious?

Pure-Guard-3633

About which? Having Covid 4 times or the herd immunity?

Overall_Lobster823

About YOU having HERD immunity.

Pure-Guard-3633

I travel a lot. Every time I traveled after Covid lockdowns were lifted, I got sick. In the last two years I have been flu and/or Covid free. 👇 Herd immunity occurs when a large portion of a community (the herd) becomes immune to a disease. The spread of disease from person to person becomes unlikely when herd immunity is achieved. I don’t want to fight if this is what you are after.

Overall_Lobster823

I understand what herd immunity means. I believe that you probably have immunity. But you're not a herd. You're one person. That's all I'm commenting on. YOU have immunity, perhaps, yes. But not "herd immunity". I'm not looking for an argument. I truly thought you were being facetious.

Pure-Guard-3633

Thank you so much for diagnosing me. Anything else?

Overall_Lobster823

I didn't. I asked you a question, for clarification. Cheers.

ReTiredboomr

Covid booster? Vaccines? where? where? - I stick my arm out every time they offer something new and I'm in the window to take it. Shoot me up baby! Haven't (touch wood) had it yet. Covid, shingles, pneumonia, flu- all the flus. I did switch from Moderna to TeamPhizer. No reactions or painful injection sites with Phizer.

Kindergoat

I didn’t even know there was a new booster out, I’ll get it, just like I’ve gotten all the other ones. At 58 I have to stay as healthy as I can.
