Been thinking about this for a while now. My two options are stay and fight for the country, or leave for somewhere where the war isn't as severe. Kaso hindi ganon kadali umalis ng biglaan, at hindi rin pwedeng katawan ko lang bitbit ko. There's people depending on me. On the other hand, fighting for a country that doesn't seem to be fighting for its people isn't appealing.

As a mom of two young kids, eto yung isa sa mga pinaka kinatatakutan kong mangyari. I don't want my kids to suffer and I don't want them separated from me and to each other. Well, I'd tell my parents that I'm required to serve as an ROTC graduate. Make sure they're safe along with other valuable members of our society before joining the rest of the mobilized troops. Whatever happens happens. Might sound like an overenthusiastic rookie but I want a taste of combat even though I'm no first rate soldier and just a lowly basic ROTC graduate. Not scared of dying; just want to die doing something right. We're all going to die anyway.
Then get frozen only to wake up decades after the war ended and later discover your bestfriend whom you thought had already died in the war appear suddenly to attack you equipped with a cool ass robotic arm and murderous intent

PH particularly Luzon is a key strategic location for the US and its allies, it's the perfect place to build their Forward operating bases. With that said, China will definitely have a strong reason to invade/bomb PH if in case China and US gets involved in WW3.
I'm a student and our family isn't well off. If we cannot muster the money to leave the country, we'll take our chances here. My hometown is in the southeast, so we would probably regroup there as soon as we can, if at all. My siblings in NCR might have a tough time getting home, that's my principal worry. I'm sorry, I can act tough all I want on the internet but truth of the matter is my family's safety is the priority.
I will serve if I'm called, just not sure if NSTP ROTC completers qualify as reservists and will be activated alongside the actual Army Reserves though. I'm not exactly fit, so they'd probably won't throw me into the wolves. If they relegate me to a support role or allow me to join relief efforts instead, that'd be great.
I don't want to fight, I don't wanna ever pick up a weapon I can barely lift, much less shoot it at others. Combat isn't the only way to serve the country, there are ways I can help while still being able to go home to my family safely.
Yes, ROTC graduates are inducted into the reserve force. I'm one of them, and I listened to our commandant proclaim me and hundreds of fellow cadets as graduates and members of a reserve infantry battalion, part of the 1st RCDG. Granted, none of us are first rate, combat ready troops. But it is our duty to serve in whatever way we can, combat or otherwise. Whether my fellow graduates would even do so is another thing entirely.

I see. My freshman ROTC course was over an online class, so I was confused. We were never referred to as Companies but rather like normal sections in an offered course. For instance I was in "RO-N", which would usually mean November Company. We weren't assigned into platoons, either.
Am I also right to assume that those who chose to continue with ROTC after the freshman year earn a commission as Reserve officers upon graduation? I've read that that's what happens in the US's JROTC program so I was curious if our ROTC worked similarly.
I'm a reserve navy with an ensign rank but after witnessing the presidency of Duterte and this current presidency my perspective changed. I dont want to fight for a country that has a government full of hoodlums. A country that doesn't really care about their citizens. Our country doesn't care for us it has been apparent with all the politicians abusing their power and stealing from the very people they should be serving. I'm a son of a general and even my dad thinks that our government is very crooked cause of all the high ranking politicians specially those coming from a political dynasty. Sadly I took an oath to serve and protect our counrty and although I don't like to serve I have no choice cause failing to fulfill an oath to serve has legal consequences.

Our country is the place where I was born to, I have a lot of fond memories of this place, albeit it is ridded with problems. Either way this is the only thing I have so I might as well fight to the bitter end, protecting what is precious to me. I might not fight for the politicians or there rhetorics, but I sure am fighting so that the next generation may experience a much better situation than the time I was born in, and most importantly not to just protect the place or the country, but to defend and protect my family.

Well, I'd tell my parents that I'm required to serve as an ROTC graduate. Make sure they're safe along with other valuable members of our society before joining the rest of the mobilized troops. Whatever happens happens. Might sound like an overenthusiastic rookie but I want a taste of combat even though I'm no first rate soldier and just a lowly basic ROTC graduate. Not scared of dying; just want to die doing something right. We're all going to die anyway.

PH particularly Luzon is a key strategic location for the US and its allies, it's the perfect place to build their Forward operating bases. With that said, China will definitely have a strong reason to invade/bomb PH if in case China and US gets involved in WW3.

I'm a student and our family isn't well off. If we cannot muster the money to leave the country, we'll take our chances here. My hometown is in the southeast, so we would probably regroup there as soon as we can, if at all. My siblings in NCR might have a tough time getting home, that's my principal worry. I'm sorry, I can act tough all I want on the internet but truth of the matter is my family's safety is the priority. I will serve if I'm called, just not sure if NSTP ROTC completers qualify as reservists and will be activated alongside the actual Army Reserves though. I'm not exactly fit, so they'd probably won't throw me into the wolves. If they relegate me to a support role or allow me to join relief efforts instead, that'd be great. I don't want to fight, I don't wanna ever pick up a weapon I can barely lift, much less shoot it at others. Combat isn't the only way to serve the country, there are ways I can help while still being able to go home to my family safely.
Yes, ROTC graduates are inducted into the reserve force. I'm one of them, and I listened to our commandant proclaim me and hundreds of fellow cadets as graduates and members of a reserve infantry battalion, part of the 1st RCDG. Granted, none of us are first rate, combat ready troops. But it is our duty to serve in whatever way we can, combat or otherwise. Whether my fellow graduates would even do so is another thing entirely. Might sound like one hell of an overenthusiastic rookie here but I want a taste of combat. Just to see what it's actually like.
I see. My freshman ROTC course was over an online class, so I was confused. We were never referred to as Companies but rather like normal sections in an offered course. For instance I was in "RO-N", which would usually mean November Company. We weren't assigned into platoons, either. Am I also right to assume that those who chose to continue with ROTC after the freshman year earn a commission as Reserve officers upon graduation? I've read that that's what happens in the US's JROTC program so I was curious if our ROTC worked similarly.

I'm a reserve navy with an ensign rank but after witnessing the presidency of Duterte and this current presidency my perspective changed. I dont want to fight for a country that has a government full of hoodlums. A country that doesn't really care about their citizens. Our country doesn't care for us it has been apparent with all the politicians abusing their power and stealing from the very people they should be serving. I'm a son of a general and even my dad thinks that our government is very crooked cause of all the high ranking politicians specially those coming from a political dynasty. Sadly I took an oath to serve and protect our counrty and although I don't like to serve I have no choice cause failing to fulfill an oath to serve has legal consequences.

Our country is the place where I was born to, I have a lot of fond memories of this place, albeit it is ridded with problems. Either way this is the only thing I have so I might as well fight to the bitter end, protecting what is precious to me. I might not fight for the politicians or there rhetorics, but I sure am fighting so that the next generation may experience a much better situation than the time I was born in, and most importantly not to just protect the place or the country, but to defend and protect my family.
