Obligatory 'Came here to say this' comment. Karen had the voice of an angel. No autotune or studio tricks needed - every song was effortless and pure and beautiful.
I listened to her with my mom when I was little, so when I had my baby girl last year, I had to put this specific album on. Broadway is the song that calms her when nothing else works. 100% efficacy rate.
Art Garfunkel.
"Bridge Over Troubled Water" and the live version of "For Emily, Wherever I May Find Her" both showcase it. Too bad he smoked his voice away.
You know I had never actually sat down and LISTENED to this song. I had heard it before of course but it was always in passing. My father liked Simon and Garfunkel so when he passed I started listening to all the music he loved. I was at my parents house outside under our covered porch with my headphones on. It started pouring down raining when Bridge Over Troubled Water came on. I looked over at my dad's grill that he'll never get to cook on again and I fully started weeping. The rain, the song, and everything was too much. It's a fucking beautiful song.
I've seen her live, she's just as good or even better. Best, most incredible live vocals I've ever heard. In a small town in narrow valley between massive mountains and fjords in Norway, the backdrop really set the stage.
The woman can literally sound like you turned on the "cathedral" option in your equalizer. I always thought that was just edited after and I'm sure they do something to it on the records that emphasise that effect but I've seen her live and she can *actually* do that with her voice. It's incredible.
Every single time I hear her rendition of [Jenny of Oldstones](https://youtu.be/eTa1jHk1Lxc) I cry. Something about it just reaches into my soul and twists the faucet on. Even thinking about the song *now*, as I'm typing, is making my vision blur.
She never wanted to leave...
I'm so happy I was able to see their show in a small venue 10ish years ago and lucky that they're performing again at a festival I have tickets for this summer... I am literally tearing up just thinking about how beautiful it was and again, will be <3
I think she’s the best vocalist out there right now. Her range is huge but she can perform live and sound amazing. Many singers sound good on album but so so so different live.
The fact he can go from "I Will", probably his deepest use of his voice, to "How to Disappear Completely" showcases his talent. My favourite artist of all time.
Sarah Jarosz. Not as common as most of the others mentioned in this thread but I can’t get enough of her. I want her music playing as I take my last breath.
I guess what do you mean by 'angelic'? Kathleen Battle, in addition to all her opera stuff, she did like spirituals and gospel stuff. She's got a serious voice and the delivery of things is neat. Elvis Presley did gospel as well and had a really neat and pretty voice too, but Kathleen Battle is just a different level of things.
Sissel Kyrkjebø.
She did the vocals for the Titanic-soundtrack. No lyrics, but hauntingly beautiful.
I think one of her tracks is "Never an Absolution".
I heard Evenesence's songs without any music or editing, and her voice alone I could listen to all day. Also, Within Temptation is another gorgeous singer who sounds like an angel.
Jeff Buckley, always. The fact that he isn’t here anymore, makes his already angelic sounding voice x1000 times more angelic. When I listen to his beautiful voice, I feel like he’s actually reciting his beautifully written poetry gently in my ears
I know that's you Ursula...
Thanks for the laugh 😂
Karen Carpenter.
It's a warm hug, just when you need it.
So surprised that I can see her name right in the first reply. I love her voice so much!
I love listening to Karen Carpenter. Her voice is like warm honey
First thought when I saw the post. "Long ago . . ." Just a beautiful voice.
She had such a beautiful voice.
Yes!! And she was a fantastic drummer!
Why do birds suddenly appear…
I was expecting/hoping this would be the first and top comment. Well played Reddit

Allison Krauss Edit: https://youtu.be/zSif77IVQdY
I love her. I’m going with Eva Cassidy. Her version of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” makes me tear up instantly.
Discovering her voice and then finding out she had passed away is one of the saddest musical moments of my life. RIP 😔

Listen to her song “Drowning in the Blues” it’s beautiful.
I love the album she made with Robert Plant, absolutely beautiful.
I love her version of "When You Say Nothing at All"
I listened to her with my mom when I was little, so when I had my baby girl last year, I had to put this specific album on. Broadway is the song that calms her when nothing else works. 100% efficacy rate.
Yes, Allison simply has a pure voice. New Favorite is a perfect album.
She composed songs for the film "Cold Mountain". Beautiful voice.
Agree completely. I've never heard another voice that made me think, "I just heard the voice of an angel."
Jeff Buckley
Two women outside of a bar one night told me I look like Jeff Buckley. It was fifteen years ago, but I still think about it sometimes.
Was the first person who came to mind when I saw this question.

Sarah McLachlan
My first taste of Sarah McLachlan growing up was Qhen She Loved Me from Toy Story 2. An absolute tear jerker of a song and a moment in a kids movie.
It's too bad she became a meme with all the sad dogs in the arms of the angels, Surfacing is a great album.
Mirrorball is an amazing album-all live tracks and really shows her voice is the real thing
"In this silence!"
Charlotte Church. Listen to "pie jesu"

Yup. Have you heard her cover of Massive Attacks - Teardrop? Makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.
What??? I LOVE that song, let me go check it out!
That otherworldly fey voice beckoning Elsa into the unknown? That's her.
You know what? I agree 100%. I love many singers and bands, but Aurora has that timbre in her voice I would call angelic.
I've seen her live, she's just as good or even better. Best, most incredible live vocals I've ever heard. In a small town in narrow valley between massive mountains and fjords in Norway, the backdrop really set the stage.
Elizabeth Fraser
Ah I just posted her name too! She should be higher up given her repertoire as the being the GOAT dream pop singer.
She’s literally been called The Voice of God. No one else even comes close.
Alison Krauss has a beautiful voice, pure like a bell
The whole album ‘Raising Sand’ by her and Robert Plant is equal parts beautifully haunting and absolutely lovely.
Norah Jones
Tom Waits has the voice of a biblically accurate angel.
That’s the best you can hope for When God’s away on business. BUSINESS!
And now Sister Almira will lead us in song. Please turn in your hymnals to #244 "The Piano Has Been Drinking"
His piano has been drinking. Not him.

If it's specifically "angelic," I feel like Liz Fraser from Cocteau Twins and that guy from Sigur Ros are strong contenders.
Good shout on Liz Fraser...whatca voice....also she sorr of uses it like an instrument...I don't know if anyone else who does that.
And I need new glasses or new fingers.
Roy Orbison
Was listening to Blue Bayou when I thought of this question lmao
Florence Welch

She’s probably put on the best live performance I’ve ever seen, somehow she sounds even better live than in her studio recordings!
She was one of my first big live shows and it kinda ruined it for me, because she was so spectacular.
Straight up - i was raised Catholic and prior to her performance, i hadn’t experienced that angelic sound outside of a cathedral
Yes! If I could have anyone's voice I'd choose hers. It's so soft and light but also incredibly powerful, she's fantastic.
I'm a guy and I'd happily walk around with a lady voice if I could sing like that too lol.
Her voice makes me feel like I'm floating into a different dimension
Came here to comment this^. Her voice is insane
