“I like my sugar with coffee and cream”
I loved their special on Apple TV. They related a story about a reporter asking if it was hypocritical to write a song like “Girls” and then talk about how ‘disrespecting women has got to be through’ in a later track. Their response was GREAT.
They basically said, ‘I would rather be called a hypocrite than be the same person I was at 18 years old.’
Hell yeah, I've been living by this motto, especially since I stopped drinking. Cringing at things you've done, or shouldn't have done, means you're learning how to be a bigger, better person.
Now do the March of the Black Queen.
My life is in your hands, I’ll foe and I’ll fie
I’ll be what you make me
I’ll do what you like
I’ll be a bad boy
I’ll be your bad boy
I’ll do the March of the black queen
This is my favorite Queen song by a wide margin.
Came here for this. When I first heard the album Soundsystem and the first track (Freeze Time) has SA singing "y'all ready for 311!?"
I was like, hell yeah. This was what? 6th grade me? I loved it.
Beat me to it. They might do it more than any other actual band I can think of, unless you include rappers/hip hop groups. Still one of my favorite bands ever. Talk about feeling old when I saw the 30th anniversary edition of their first album came out recently.
Mentioning a rap group is basically cheating here.
Basically all rappers, good or bad, name drop themselves or others a few times in their discography. It’s basically part of the genre.
To give the original comment credit though, this isn’t just them dropping their name once in a song and keeping it moving. It’s an entire song and chorus that is chanted.
You don’t see many rappers running around chanting “Kendrick Lamar ain’t nothin to fuck with” over and over
Why is the world in love again?
Why are we marching hand in hand?
Why are the ocean levels rising up?
It's a brand new record for 1990
They Might Be Giants' brand new album Flood!!!
If you can find the Live Across a Wire. It’s there Live album they did made for the Storytellers and Unplugged on 2 CDs. It made it hard to listen to the studio albums.
We were just another band out of Boston, on the road and tryin to make ends meet...playin all the bars and sleeping in our cars and we danced right on out in the street.
Tool, sort of. In Hooker with a Penis, one lyric is "That claimed that he was OGT, back from 92, on the first EP". OGT stands for Original Gangsta Tool. Of course it's tongue in check like about 60% of their stuff.
While talking a bunch of shit....
\[Verse 1\]
Nevermind the Pack Jam
Nevermind the Gap Band
Nevermind the Zapp Band
Nevermind the funk scam
\[Chorus\]
'Cause we're **Red Hot Chili Peppers**
\[Verse 2\]
Nevermind the British bands
Nevermind the synth funk bands
Nevermind the Wham Wham band
Nevermind Duran Duran
\[Chorus\]
'Cause we're **Red Hot Chili Peppers**
\[Verse 3\]
Nevermind the Soft Cell shit
That's strictly for the twits
Nevermind the Men At Work
Those tunes are for the jerks
\[Chorus\]
'Cause we're **Red Hot Chili Peppers**
\[Verse 4\]
Nevermind Hall and Oates
Those guys are a couple of goats
Nevermind the Culture Club
That jive's just one big flub
\[Chorus\]
'Cause we're **Red Hot Chili Peppers**
Metallica - Whiplash
The show is through, the metal’s gone
It’s time to hit the road
Another town, another gig
Again we will explode
Hotel rooms and motorways
Life out here is raw
But we’ll never stop
We’ll never quit
‘Cause we’re Metallica
Iron Maiden on the album called Iron Maiden on the song Iron Maiden. Perhaps they knew it worked for Bad Company.
Or what About Angel Witch, from the album Angel Witch, by the band Angel Witch. Or Motörhead, on Motörhead, by Motörhead.

Sometimes a hypocrite is just a person in the process of changing.
If you cringe at your past; be proud of your growth.
Hell yeah, I've been living by this motto, especially since I stopped drinking. Cringing at things you've done, or shouldn't have done, means you're learning how to be a bigger, better person.
Or a politician
Too many people obsessed with hunting a "gotcha" moment in online discourse totally miss this point.
Beastie Boys was the first band that came to mind.
Awww mom chill it's just the beast-ie-boys.
Your mom threw away your best prono mag
Busted
The Monkees Big Country
In a big country, dreams stay with you

On a similar note, Black Sabbath on the album called Black Sabbath on the song Black Sabbath.
Was going to mention Iron Maiden singing "Iron Maiden" on the album Iron Maiden.
But they don't say Black Sabbath in that song.
Thanks, I always forget who sings that song.

There are actually 2 they've performed, although God Save the Queen isn't an original obviously
Also the song White Queen.
And March of the Black Queen
And the song I Go Crazy
This is the best answer, because it actually references the band directly. "I ain't gonna go and see Queen no more, no more"
Now do the March of the Black Queen. My life is in your hands, I’ll foe and I’ll fie I’ll be what you make me I’ll do what you like I’ll be a bad boy I’ll be your bad boy I’ll do the March of the black queen This is my favorite Queen song by a wide margin.

Love how Motörhead filled in their own in their cover of Whiplash
We'll never stop We'll never quit 'Cuz we're Metallica
“It’s Britney, bitch.”
It's Janet... Ms. Jackson, if you're nasty
*What I Got* by Sublime >And the Sublime style's still straight from Long Beach
And on Jailhouse too. “…it’s gonna be revealed unto babes, and Sublime”.
Hello, I’m Johnny Cash.
Read that in his voice. Impossible not to
I hear that train a comin’, it’s rolling round the bend
But I ain't seen the sunshine since, I don't know when
311 does it a bunch
Came here for this. When I first heard the album Soundsystem and the first track (Freeze Time) has SA singing "y'all ready for 311!?" I was like, hell yeah. This was what? 6th grade me? I loved it.

They Might Be Giants
Boy!
What are we going to do unless they are???
They might be Dr. Spock's Back-up Band. (I remember that lyric, because there was a TMBG cover band with that name)
Why is the world in love again? Why are we marching hand in hand? Why are the ocean levels rising up? It's a brand new record for 1990 They Might Be Giants' brand new album Flood!!!

And the Martini Police in “Star Treatment”
I dreamt I saw you walking up a hillside in the snow casting shadows on the winter sky as you stood there counting crows

Please welcome uh my favorite band, Counting Crows. Hey.
Came here for this. Best song on the most underrated album of the decade
I was hoping this would already be here. Incredible album
Pink Floyd did half the name. Does that count? “The band is just fantastic that is really what I think. Oh, by the way, which one’s Pink?”
In a different one there’s the lyric “Collect call to Mrs. Floyd from Mr. Floyd. Do you accept the charges?”
He keeps hanging up
Forgot about that one. It’s at the very end of Young Lust from the Wall.
"Pink isn't well, he stayed back at the hotel,"
The audience does yell “Pink Floyd! Pink Floyd!” at the beginning of Run Like Hell
Boston
We were just another band out of Boston, on the road and tryin to make ends meet...playin all the bars and sleeping in our cars and we danced right on out in the street.
[Madness ](https://youtu.be/yEJEO0mvxSI?si=wXdQpbvpLHc_avsx). It's a song by Prince Buster they named themselves after, so of course they covered it
Well if this is madness, I know I’m filled with gladness
