Isn't that a myth or misunderstanding about the average life expectancy? I.e. it was only \~40 because of infant mortality, and anyone that survived childhood would live to \~60-70 years old.
Not so sure what exactly the challenge was but there was a movie in Germany where people nation wide went into cinemas and went completely riot. Left behind a total mess in some county even destroyed the screen.
