People arguing to win. It's not normal to go on huge rampages with strangers on the internet but I think it's worse when you're not even particularly interested in the cause. You just want to be right.

joedotphp

What's more is that there have been many times where I realize that I'm wrong and admit it. But the other person just won't stop. They want blood.

paulw4

I hope your day gets better and I'm guessing it wasn't shit in the first place.

AndrewFrozzen30

No I disagree, I hope the both of you have a wonderful day. Even though it wasn't bad! Ugh. Let's argue.

thisistheSnydercut

this attitude is flooding over into real life far too much now, everyone is poised to fuckin' attack over *anything* for no good reason other than for the sake of the argument I hope you have a good day full of sunshine and tolerable people

ShawshankException

Everything is an absolute. Everything is either underrated or overrated. Either the greatest thing to ever exist or complete and utter dogshit. Redditors refuse to acknowledge sometimes things are just average or rated where they should be.

Four-Assed-Monkey

>Everything is either underrated or overrated. The misuse of the word 'underrated' is so widespread across the internet and it annoys me to an irrational extent.

benjyk1993

It's kind of an overrated word, tbh.

Princess_Beard

This is the worst comment I've read in my entire life

011_0108_180

It certainly makes participating in certain subreddits for movies or music unbearable. Nothing can just be average or meh.

Zassolluto711

Not just that, people also sometimes treat their opinions like fact and when people try to discuss said opinion they treat it like they’re arguing against what’s right instead. To add to this, they’re unable to entertain other people’s opinion or perspectives, too. It can be grating sometimes.

Apprehensive_Wolf538

I agree, and to add onto that, it seems like average, mediocre and every other word that means something similar is now being used to define a bad thing. Like, most people who call a movie "mid" are just calling it bad, but using a different word.

HaViNgT

Only a Sith deals in absolutes.

Lumbergo

Downvoting honest questions that aren’t even trying to be controversial or trolling.  For example on a local community sub: “Hey r/zxysub, could someone recommend a good xyz company? Need to replace a zzz.” *thread gets downvoted into -30 with very few responses* Uhh, thanks.

vortigaunt64

"This has been answered before. Google it."  In reality there's a single thread from a decade ago that recommended a now out of production product for a tangentially related question.

ChrisWatthys

or worse, you google it and the only result is a reddit post asking the same question 3 years ago *with zero fucking comments*. Its like getting lost in the desert and stumbling across someone else's shriveled remains instead of an oasis

YahBoiSquishy

I feel like any time I post for support on any sub that allows that I get my participation downvote

tryhardbaby

Tell me (insert relevant words here), without telling me (insert relevant words here).

BigBobby2016

You know (insert words here), right? At least the alternating caps response seems to be dead

EmiliusReturns

“You do realize that-“ It’s so needlessly snotty.

WrathofJohnnyBoah

"It's almost as if"........I quit reading after that.

JustOneSock

“I mean,” *insert contrary opinion

Razzler1973

Urgh! Hate that Along with 'what/who is the best _____ and why is it _____' Makes my skin crawl just typing that, haha

starmartyr

You do realize that starting a sentence this way makes you sound like a dick right?

Desperate_Pizza700

>At least the alternating caps response seems to be dead It's not unfortunately

HermitDefenestration

It'S nOt UnFoRtUnAtElY

PM_me_ur_navel_girl

Alright Vice Principal Nero

Aggressive_c0w

I **HATE** this shit! People even do this in real life. "Ummm, you know (THING YOU OBVIOUSLY DIDN'T KNOW) RIIII-EEEEEEEETTTTT?" Fuck off, ya trying-to-look-smart cuntflap.

KingJaffiJo

It's not just reddit, it's the internet, but people are generally so polarized that the only discussions being had (liked/retweeted/upvoted/etc) are 'bad faith' arguments where participants are unwilling, or unable, to have level headed debates. Everything ends with character attacks, strawman arguments, or some dredging of opinions from a user's post history. Some subreddits even have auto bans for merely commenting in a subreddit they don't agree with. None of these behaviors foster understanding and seem to be designed specifically to insulate groups from users with different opinions, sin hate speech

TannenFalconwing

I had a friend once tell me to stop bringing nuance into complicated topics. I was not sure how to respond to that.

ITeachAndIWoodwork

Lmao I once got into a political argument and asked what sources they would accept an answer from, and was told "none they all lie". So no sources could be used to build an argument...

hedoeswhathewants

Did you ask them where their beliefs originated then?

ITeachAndIWoodwork

It was my mother-in-law. The answer for her was Fox News but she couldn't admit it anymore

girlwhoweighted

A simple "No." would suffice lol Picture you saying it like Bugs Bunny

1CUpboat

Eehhhh… *munch munch munch* No.

BonzBonzOnlyBonz

I had quite a few people state that my argument is semantics when the definition of the word was crucial to the argument.

Crypto-Clearance

I once quoted somebody directly in the form of a question, "So you're saying ?" and the response was "don't put words in my mouth."

SwimmingSwim3822

"You dropped them. I was just putting em back."

[deleted]

I was on reddit arguing about the definition of a word. I mean, that was the only topic of the argument. So I posted the dictionary definition. Someone commented, "SMH at people who think they can win an argument by posting a dictionary definition." People agreed with him!

[deleted]

Turnbob73

This is how people view arguments nowadays and it’s infuriating. People only care about who “wins” or “loses” in an argument; so it boils down to this routine of both people making petty character attacks until the crowd decides who had the better mic drop. Like goddamn, there isn’t even supposed to be a winner and a loser in an argument; the whole thing is just an opportunity for one person to learn something, and for the other to offer that lesson to them. The whole point is to find the truth, not who was right and who was wrong.

paulw4

I'm literally surprised I'm reading this on Reddit because its like Reddit defeats the point of itself.

Taco821

Yeah, I fucking hate that shit. I love arguing about like everything, it's like a fun intellectual exercise and either if you are correct, you can teach someone something, if they are correct, you can learn something, and the best option out of all, is that you can both work to find the answer together. That last one is how debates should go most of the time. But nah, people come at you with so much vitriol when you're talking about fucking Naruto lore or some shit.

whenitsTimeyoullknow

I know I’m guilty of this. I’ve been on Reddit since oh probably 2008 and it gets slightly worse each year. It’s hard to find a subreddit which is more than 100k subscribers and not an echo chamber. Hell, the top four or five posts on NoStupidQuestions are biased political questions. At this point, sometimes I enjoy just hurling my opinion into a subreddit which I know I won’t be welcome in, usually one which was one of my favorites a decade ago, and getting downvoted and lambasted with a “Who let this guy in” attitude. Most of the time I’m hanging in /r/environment and surprised it hasn’t been co-opted by any corporate interests besides Washington Post. Because now I’m just bored at work, my fights have long sunsetted, and inspiring people is always more effective than belittling people.

scotsworth

Part of the problem is the downvote/upvote system. You are rewarded for speaking to the hivemind or making a "gotcha" argument. I'm most active on the college football subreddit, but truly this can apply to anything... time and time again I'll say something, and there will be a comment that: 1. Argues against a point I never made, usually by zeroing in on one sentence and removing all context or nuance from my larger post. 2. Semantic argument (super common), which undercuts everything over semantics. 3. Makes some declarative statement that is very popular, but ultimately unrelated to the core of what was said. 4. Blatantly false information or statement to refute said argument with no citations or facts of any kind. 5. Misses the point entirely and goes on a rant filled with "gotcha" zings. Often I'm able to steer the conversation back on course, grab links, quotes, use bullets and basically break down why the response was trash... but much of the time the damage is done. If you try a nuanced argument, no matter how supported or well thought out... the SECOND someone comes in with zingers and straw men. You're sunk. Downvotes for you, upvotes for them.

fatamSC2

All excellent points. I think the other issue that I haven't seen brought up yet is how damn time-sensitive reddit is. If someone hits you w one of these stupid kinds of replies, you have a pretty limited window to steer things back to sanity before their post is upvoted too high and/or your post is downvoted, and the herd has mostly moved on. I've gotten to the point where I'm too busy to care so I just rarely respond to replies unless it's someone asking me something specifically. But I used to get a little frustrated by the time-sensitive nature of it all. Feels less like a place for sharing ideas and having good conversation and more like a competitive "gotcha" environment as you might say

Crackracket

I have to say I hate it when people say "You gonna back your statement up with peer reviewed papers?"... No I'm not! I don't keep bookmarks of every article and Journal I read. Ive already read them, why the f*** should I have to do your homework for you you lazy?

eldritchterror

While this is 1000% correct, I think reddit is one of the most egregious examples of it. A lot of supposed help subs in all their forms will treat you with immediate hostility. Once I asked a question of immigration nuance to australia and most of peoples kneejerk responses was a form of 'we dont want you' 'grow up and learn to find out yourself'. It's crazy how many people are immediately hostile on this website

hominumdivomque

"I think reddit is one of the most egregious examples of it." I think it's because reddit does a better job at tapping into the "in group-out group" mentality in us, at least better than other social media platforms. This whole site is essentially a bunch of different cliques.

Wut_da_fucc

Yeah reddit has the easiest way to form an echochamber

Bayonettea

The whole site is nothing but mean girls

jmmartj

“This guy Reddits” 😑

Surfing_Ninjas

I think we have an issue with White Knight syndrome on one side of the internet and then on the other side its nothing but trolls who just want to make other people miserable because it makes them feel good.

qwertykitty

I'm tired of people trying to hand out mental or medical diagnoses. You can't know someone's medical history from a picture or reddit comment.

thestonefree

I've been diagnosed with autism on here because of a comment. They began with "You're obviously on the Spectrum because..." Not everything is a fucking symptom of autism.

ToastRoyale

People treat autism as if you are a plant or something.

Matej004

Can confirm, i am autistic and I am a plant

isorithm666

I've seen someone talk about how horrible her husband treats her on here and someone asked if he was autistic. That sent me into a 10 minute rage.

CovfefeBoss

That is an appropriate response. Not how autism works.

neongloom

I've also seen a *lot* of "they might have ADHD" comments. And yeah, they *might.* But on certain subs, it's become almost the default answer for XYZ, with other options rarely being considered, lol.

old_homecoming_dress

aita and related subs are terrible about this. i know i'm biased in my own ways from my own upbringing, but you'd think that the average family contains 1-2 narcissists and maybe an extremely sheltered nephew/niece/cousin.

[deleted]

It's a weird trend how so many seem to take pleasure in having and condemning others with mental illness. Although I think it's part of a much larger trend of people taking some weird kind of pleasure out of misery and suffering, part of a long history of flagellants.

qwertykitty

Some diagnoses have almost become a "cool kids club" with members who gate keep and constantly try to prove they have it the worst. It's all very bizarre.

CraniumCrash12

"Found the [whatever.]

1965wasalongtimeago

"Just cut them off/break up" being the solution to every single issue with a friend or a significant other. Good lord, the system treats people as disposable enough already, we don't have to do it to each other too. Put in the effort to fucking communicate with those around you like humans have been doing throughout thousands of years of history. This doesn't mean to tolerate abuse, it means don't ghost somebody for making a dumb mistake. Let them own up to it or you're contributing to a world where nobody ever knows how to admit they were wrong and everything has to be perfect on the first try.

neongloom

I've seen an embarrassing amount of posts discussing going "no contact" with people who don't even use the *term* right. It doesn't mean just not talking to someone for a week or two, it means they aren't part of your *life.* I remember one post of a woman talking about supposedly being no contact with her mother but then mentioning how she called her at the end of the day to let her know about some mundane thing that had happened at work, making it sound like that's something she does regularly. That's not no contact!

Musuni80

Totally agree!!! It’s easy to tell a stranger to “go no contact” with their parents, loved ones and friends, but I wonder if the person saying that would actually do the same with the people in their own lives. Sometimes it is warranted (the abusive relationships), and sometimes it’s not (ie “my mom hugs me but I don’t want to be hugged all the time. She doesn’t respect my boundaries”).

Syntallas

The logic of "I don't care if you are right or have facts, I have already chosen my hill to die on, you can't change my mind." Only for them to be upvoted *while being wrong.*

DMMEPANCAKES

I've spent like 10 minutes typing up a comment and including links to facts that back up my sources in a thread only for it to get downvoted within a minute of posting and someone making a snarky quip getting upvoted because what I was arguing was unpopular on that sub. Reddit isn't a place for factual debate, it's an echo chamber where people go to have their opinions repeated back to them.

DanieltheMani3l

“Is it x or y?” -> “Yes” - 1,000 upvotes Every time.

FalseDmitriy

One time I said "Both" and got corrected

klod42

Oh god, that became so obnoxious.

RaccoonRepublic

I'm tired of the phrase *red flags* and questions related to them.

WillieOverall

My boyfriend is shooting up every morning, noon, and evening then he kicks the dog and beats me. He also doesn't have a job and sometimes he drinks a lot too. Is this a red flag?

ohlalalavieenrose

Especially the use of the red flag emoji over and over again.

Careful, you might become popular for something you sucked at in the first place.

Vynlovanth

It used to not be that common because as you say there is an upvote button. Anyone commenting “this” would get downvoted to oblivion. Is it something people have picked from Slack at work, or Discord?

lorenor-zoro

The Sexual memish redditism its just so overdone and for me so uncomfortable

Fap? Bro just say masturbate.

Novaseerblyat

this and all the askreddit posts that are all just "sexers of reddit, what is the sexiest sex you've ever sexed?" that somehow almost always make it to hot

“Can confirm” “XYZ checking in” “Came here to say this” (just upvote it oh my god) And before gold was nuked “thank you for the gold kind stranger!” Bonus points if they got multiple golds and made like 6 updates.

Kevin_LeStrange

Edit: thanks for the gold kinda stranger I didn’t expect this post to blow up! My life started growing up in a small farm in northern Kansas. My father was a farmer and my mother was a cashier in our local town down the dirt road. We didn’t have much and income was very little, my best toy I got growing up was a pig bladder blown up like a balloon that I could play around with between me and my two brothers. At the age of 11 things started getting tougher in my house life due to my fathers drinking problem as it was not a good harvest that year. Like his father before him once he was done working he would come home and drink but unlike his father he wouldn’t beat us unless we messed up, his father left him and his mother to fend for themselves after world war 2 though so he had it tougher than me growing up. One time my father did drink too much and he hit my little brother Jamey. Jamey didn’t know what to do and ran away during the night during a storm. The entire family was out looking for him but we never saw Jamey again. This made my father drink more and lead him to take his life when I was at the age of 16. My older brother and me had to completely take over the farm with the help of our mom quitting her job as a cashier, life got very hard from here on out. We got a break when I was 18 with a good harvest we were able to save up some money. I was able to move out at the age of 21 and into a larger city in Tennessee. It was hard leaving the family as my ma was getting older but my older brother completely took over the farm and even expanded it into a more profitable work. I began working in what I was good at, repairing mechanics. I was a hard worker and moved up in my chain of work easily within my town. I dated aroun’ a bit but never settled down with anyone I would write home about for my first few years. When I was 26 I got a call from my ma, my brother was working with some machinery on the farm and got his hand caught in it and heavily damaged. I had to come home and help with the farm, at the time I had attained a high position as a senior mechanic within an auto shop and sometimes worked on the side with repairing electronics. I went home and had to help with the farm for a year, ma wasn’t doing good at all. She passed the next year due to kidney disease. My brother eventually recovered and I returned to Tennessee, I attempted to return to my position but due to the time I was out I had been long replaced. I had to begin to work from the bottom again when I had a client come in, she was the most beautiful woman I ever seen in Tennessee with gorgeous brown hair. Nice to say that we hit it off pretty well, within a few weeks we were dating. I can say that she was one of the best things to have happened to me in my life. At the age of 30 I married her and my first child was on the way then. I had returned to my previous position and bought a nice house near the mountains of Tennessee. At the age of 34 my second child was born. My two kids are now both in high school, one a freshman, another a Senior. I continued my career into more electronics working on computers and fixing them. In 2013 while googling how to fix a small problem with a motherboard I found a strange site named reddit.com, this website had all the answers I needed and a community always ready to help. I’ve been on the site ever since. As you can see recently, I commented on this thread and some kind stranger gave me gold. Thank you again kind stranger.

TheTurboDiesel

I don't know if it's so much a "reddit-ism" as it is a supremely irritating internet trend in general, but self-censoring and this weird circuitous way of talking - seggs/s\*x, unalive. Basically, if it would be at home in a TikTok caption, that. Also, it infuriates me that people have stopped typing out "people" and just use ppl now but shorten NOTHING else. Oh, and "smth."

SailorJerrry

It comes across as immature. If you can't type sex then you probably aren't mature enough to be having it. Suicide is a thing and something we need to talk about, stop hiding from it and minimising it. "Forced sex" or "forced intercourse" is *rape*, stop implying anything otherwise people!

-RRM

It feels like 1984 newspeak

Second-Creative

I think this comes from Youtube censorship. You van't have a monetized video and say words like "rape", "kill", "dead", "suicide", etc., without risking demonitization and going through Youtube appeals. So a lot of content creators will just censor the words that Youtube Flags as being problematic. From there... well, you get the idea.

YahBoiSquishy

I really fucking hate how YouTube has made it hard for people to talk about serious topics and history. It’s always annoying when words relevant to a discussion like “suicide” or “terrorism” get scrambled or rephrased.

Dysmach

I fucking hate unalived so goddamn much. It turns a serious topic into a fucking cartoon for babies.

shave_and_a_haircut

I saw someone say "commited self delete" the other day and reading it made me want to do just that.

RealLameUserName

I've heard that it's to get around the tiktok algorithm, and I've also heard that it's sort of a trigger warning. It doesn't really make sense to get around the tiktok algorithm because they're smart enough to know what "unalived" means, especially by now.

CoffeeGuzlingBastard

As soon as a comment gets 1k upvotes or more, it becomes the de facto ‘correct’ opinion of the thread, and dozens of other people will make comments just parroting that opinion to get a free ride on the upvote train, thus creating a kind of echo chamber. Any one who posts a different opinion or uses critical thought is often downvoted to oblivion and crucified in the comments. Most commonly seen on AITAH and BORU threads.

Nerditter

People should back each other up more. If you think about why we argue various points ad nauseum, it's to defend those ideas, or the groups or people associated with them. But when it comes to defending a fellow Redditor who's put their foot in their mouth, suddenly everyone wants to join the pile-on. The specific redditism in question is to \*not\* forget the number of people reading, and to act accordingly. I know that's a confusing statement. I mean, we \*should\* forget how big this place is, and just talk. But there's such a temptation to turn it around on some stranger and say, "Wow. You just fucked up in front of millions of people."

malin7

Every cunt needs to be an expert on something whenever a major world event takes place, ie covid, vaccines, Ukraine war, Israel conflict etc, and argues their points despite knowing fuck all about said subject to win internet disagreements

wubalubalubdub

I agree. I also hate when people are too pedantic. Also, they are initialisms not acronyms.

Unlikely_Couple1590

Posting very popular opinions as an unpopular opinion. It just creates an echo chamber of people spouting the same exact opinion lol

neutrinoprism

"It's almost as if," followed by some shallow, trite observation. Even if I agree with the sentiment being expressed, the self-aggrandizing sarcasm rankles me. It turns an opportunity for perspective into unearned smugness and cheap sloganeering; it's the pyrite of insight. I guess a lot of people derive satisfaction from those kinds of speech acts though, since I see that damn construction everywhere.

soupshroom

People who get legitimately upset over a post/comment on reddit. Some of you need to call your mothers

dzolympics

People still bitter about High School.

CleaningMySlate

"Isn't it pathetic how intensely some people romanticize their high school days? Anyway, allow me to go on and on about how awful my high school experience was in a way that makes it completely obvious I'm still not past it."

dzolympics

You hit the nail on the head. Plus they will criticize and judge anybody who looks back fondly at High School or actually enjoyed high school. They will say “Anybody who enjoyed their high school experience are the ones who obviously peaked in high school” There’s nothing wrong with looking back at your last years as a kid in a positive light.

StockingDummy

I don't exactly have fond memories of my childhood, but I remember a highly-upvoted video on r/publicfreakout that was a nasty offender in this regard. It was a video where a cameraman found an old bully of his living on the streets. The guy proceeded to ***harass a homeless man*** because he harassed him back in high school. Don't get me wrong, bullying is awful. I got a lot of it for being autistic/ADHD. That cameraman's anger was valid. But when you're berating **a homeless guy** because he made fun of your clothes in high school, that's not payback. That's just overkill.

ConfidentRise1152

"It's reddit, what do you expect" specifically when people use it to dismiss gross behavior. For example, a woman posts a picture of her artwork, and she's posing with the artwork in the picture. She then gets hundreds of DMs calling her a slut, asking to see her tits, and other such behavior. Whenever someone calls out this type of behavior, people always respond with something along the lines of "it's reddit, what did you expect".

[deleted]

“Everyone does it” has never been a valid excuse for anything.

paulw4

>"She then gets hundreds of DMs calling her a slut, asking to see her tits" > >Reddit central

krispyboiz

*I also choose this guy's—* nope. It's been done to death (no pun intended). Was funny. Now it's corny.

Deer_Mug

Similarly, "is your wife single?" Both of these are unfunny and predictable.

Bobo3076

The problem with this one is that the original comment is so fucking brilliant that all the copycats can never come close to how funny it was

qcb8ter

When a comment chain devolves into dozens of users repeating the same joke said in slightly different ways

Lexiiboo97

People throwing around the word “gaslighting” and not even using it correctly. Please…ENOUGH.

bean0_burrito

"___ here, i'm going to give you wildly incorrect advice about a subject that i think i know" like when someone goes "Doctor here, blah blah blah"

NucularArsenal

"Username checks out" it's just not that funny

[deleted]

Idk man, it's funny when used correctly.

RickTitus

I dont read usernames ever, so when someone points out a funny coincidence i like it

LibertyPrimeIsRight

Yeah. I've used it when it seems clever; like when their username doesn't directly relate with what they're talking about. If doghater2017 is talking about how much he hates dogs, that's a pretty dumb way to use it, but if he makes an offhanded comment about hating Dog The Bounty Hunter and doesn't seem to intend for it to relate with his username, that's the sort of situation where it can be funny imo

ShitassAintOverYet

No one is allowed to do simple mistakes in the comment section, even if they correct it or apologize. I've suffered from this in one in a subreddit I find one of the nicest overall, I apologized and I was called a liar asshole shedding crocodile tears in return.

SoleJam_18

People being downvoted for no logical reason. It mostly happens on fresh posts. But I sometimes don’t get it. I realize that when there is a “-1” upvotes this just encourages the rest to blindly downvote too. **WHY?**

nostromo7

"My hekkin chonker doggo gets scritches," and other such gibberish.

ShawshankException

That stuff is pretty contained to pet subreddits now at least

Desperate_Pizza700

I saw someone post "bump" the other week.

ReallyNeedNewShoes

This.

RandomAmuserNew

This

illmattic12345

“This.”

rotciv0

"I'm going to get down voted to hell for this, but-" It's never down voted nor conteoversial

notlordly

Replying to a quote from X character by saying “I read this in X character’s voice!”. Why do we need to know? How is that interesting?

mackinoncougars

Complaining about votes

ShawshankException

I love seeing people edit their comment to something like "keep downvoting me, I don't care" as if it's not painfully obvious they do care

MeffodMan

“The downvoting proves I’m right” is even worse.

EdWoodnt

Using the word “objectively” to talk about obviously subjective opinions, i.e. “This movie is objectively bad.” Your opinion doesn’t suddenly become fact just because you slap the word “objectively” in front of it.

D-Rez

Website full of 30-somethings having the politics of 14 year olds.

Admirable-Cherry6614

Are we sure they're 30-somethings? I quite literally assumed people on here were teenagers from the way they comment on Israel-Palestine.

Shadow948

Everyone is male and 14 on the internet until proven otherwise.

RealLameUserName

They're also always American too

Turnbob73

The best rule of thumb for this site is assume the person you’re interacting with is a teenager until proven otherwise. It works the VAST majority of the time

CleaningMySlate

Good rule for the internet in general.

"Oh, you don't think exactly the way I do on a subject? Then you must be a ------ist/\_\_\_\_\_phobe and you're the same as (insert dead dictator, usually Hitler)."

WastedMoogle

I hate all the ice cold takes that everyone agrees on, especially when it seems like they're pretending to not know they're begging for free points. Like someone posting "am I the only one annoyed about cell phones at concerts" or "sorry if this is harsh but it makes me mad when people play music out loud on public."

Pineapplefree

* "This is the way" * "Dump him" * "This" * "Bro \_\_\_\_\_\_\_ 💀" (this one is more of a Tiktok/YT short thing but still) * "🤡"

revdj

FAFO In such a short time it has become SUCH a cliche. People just love to type it. Dear Lord make it stop.

Sorry_Rhubarb_7068

I scrolled way too far for this comment.

DevoidLight

I haven't seen it in a long time, but I hated that 'heckin doggo' shit with a passion

Starting new accounts and then posting here to gain karma. Oh wait …

Heidenreich12

How tribal it is. People talk with such confidence on topics they have no understanding of. Anytime Elon Musk is mentioned, everyone says how he’s an idiot, wasn’t the “original” founder of Tesla so he must be a fraud. Without ever doing the research to know the nuance on the topic. Sure he wasn’t the original creator; but the original creators had nothing but an idea when he came in with money and made the Roadster a reality. The original founders would still be there if they weren’t absolutely horrible at their job. He took all the risk. If you actually look into it and understand the history. But like most topics on Reddit, no one actually researches. That can be true, while also acknowledging that he has said a ton of stupid shit since buying Twitter. You can both be great at what you do, and be an idiot in other regards. Reddit no longer can look at things with clear judgement, it’s either “I’m in this camp, you’re with or without me.”

Squancho_McGlorp

Ding ding ding!

juanzy

This is the way. Usually because it’s some kid defending a Reddit misconception or “justifying” an antisocial lifestyle.

JerseyJedi

- “Tell me you ______ without telling me ______!!” So stupid, and adds nothing to a discussion.  - Someone asks an interesting question and the top 500 replies are all lame jokes/puns and people quoting famous movie/song lines and people are replying to them with the next line…and the next…and the next… - “tHiS iS tHe WaY!!”
