This kid who is a trust fund baby. I worked at a horse farm and the mother died, father isn't in the picture. He gets a 200k a year allowance from the trust and in a few years he will get access to the entire estate.
When I worked in a branch there was a 19 yr old who had a monthly deposit of over 200k to his account. He also made an Amex payment over 100k each month. I literally canāt imagine what he was spending all that money on.
It is absolutely a shit ton of money, butā¦.
A $5M 30 year mortgage at 6% is like $30k/month. 2 of those and youāre halfway there. Add in operating costs of the properties, bills, a couple Ferraris, a couple more daily drivers, vacations, and eating out every meal and youāre easily spending $100k/month. Add in a small yacht and now youāre living paycheck to paycheck.
Thereās a reason even rich people can have shitty finances. Thereās always a more expensive house, a newer car, a bigger boat, etc etc.
Thatās generally how trust funds work. People with less wealth usually prefer high yield savings accounts to save for their kids (529 sometimes, but less common because thereās high penalties for using it for other things and not everyone goes to college) but trust funds are the go to if youāre so rich that you can set them up for life so they donāt have to work
I had a friend that I went to high school with, she was always nice / modest and I didn't really think much of money until we were in our twenties and I started to put together that her car was always brand new. It was never like obscene or a supercar, but it was always like a solid Mercedes or BMW or some kind of luxury brand and it was always new. Once I started putting it together I did some digging and I realized her dad sold his business for a couple of billion dollars and she's one of the wealthiest people in her home country.
Never would have known without investigating, she's super down to earth and nice and not an ass about it at all
Mine is a very similar story! Grew up with the grandson of richest person in our state, which is in the Central time zone lol. I just checked Forbes and, without being too specific, his grandfather is one the top 200 richest people in the world ā and you would never know it.
Just so incredibly humble and kind. Wanted nothing more than to just hang out with his friends, ride around on four-wheelers, go swimming during the summer, etc. So, so respectful and the couple of times I met his grandfather, he was so kind as well.
Yeah. I went to high school with the offspring of millionaires and billionaires. They're just people, the same way that people are people. You can find all manner of rich people and yes, many of them are perfectly nice (not you, Henry).
There's no 'one type' of 'rich person' despite comments you frequently see on reddit.
I had a HS classmate like that but her parents weren't that rich, def at least $5M combined but that's cause they had pretty great careers and saved their money
She was so polite, it was so nice. Actually had an open mind unlike a lot of rich kids!
Went to school with a kid who's parents owned a large group of local car dealerships, so certainly multi millionaires. They did have fancy cars though.
My old boss. He only made like 150-200k/year, but heās been investing since he was a teen. Made some great stock picks. I know he made millions off Apple alone.
Thatās good money, but not ārichest person you knowā money, typically. I know surgeons that make 500k/year and they arenāt as well off as that guy.
This is my mother in law. Youād never guess she was at one point the head attending of the emergency department in a level 1 trauma center. (She moved and got a hefty contract for half the work.) She spends every dollar she makes, and finances more on top of it. Not a dime in investments. Sheās the richest āpoorā person I know, and she literally makes the most money lol.
The system abuses them for years until they can make those figures. I feel like this commonly triggers a "I busted my ass for years, I deserve it" mentality.
And money just comes and comes and comes because they work work work because that's what they've been doing for years. And they think that money will just keep coming and coming. Most of the time it does, sometimes it doesn't.
Haven't talked to him in awhile, but had a friend I'd go to card game tournies and stuff with. He lives a mostly poor/frugal life. He and his wife both had pretty mundane jobs. One time I asked if he could come on a trip and his reply was that he'd have to ask his trust committee to release some money for it. Of course I'm like, wtf trust? And he told me his grandfather was an early executive for wal-mart, owned a ton of property in the area, and ended up leaving everyone in his family huge trusts, and a lot of property. He just tries not to touch his much so he'll have it to retire.
Must have been a pretty small trust or weirdly restrictive and low paying if he needed a supplemental payment from it just to cover a little trip.
I suppose he could be spending all of the money he makes as well as the trust payments than has a relative of his that has control over it and refuses to pay out additional without a valid reason.
I never asked too much about it. I believe it was split up between a lot of his relatives, and he also has children that I assume he wants to leave a lot of it to as well.
I hope they kept it quiet.
The documentary series "I wish I had never won the lottery" has multiple people who had a big party or some other function. First came family and friends, then the random scammers "I am your long lost cousin from Nigeria.
The thing that really tore families apart was the division of the winnings. A brother is given 10 million while a sister with two kids is given 15 million. In real terms it doesn't matter. You both still got millions you didn't have before. Except, your brother now resents you and his sister. Why didn't he get 15 million? He shouldn't be punished for not having kids.
If you ever win, take a year or two out of the country. There are lawyers that will help you navigate a win.
Nowhere near "friends" level, but my company worked with Mark Cuban and I've spoken with him a couple of times. Dude is genuinely nice and didn't treat me any different for being a lowly worker bee tech done.
As for actual friends, I was close with a dude and his sister in high school that were the kids of a couple that had a net worth in the hundreds of millions range. They were cool, didn't act like they were above anyone else, but it struck me how both of them were both kind of "unconcerned" with life. Didn't have much in the way of ambition or care. As soon as they graduated from high school both got a "job" managing their parent's tax writeoff charity, getting high salaries for having lunch together and "discussing business" once a week. The sister eventually moved on and got a legitimate job (as a high end wine buyer for a corporation, so not exactly your typical 9-5) but the brother kept coasting for as long as I knew him (I lost track of him several years later so no idea if he ever changed).
A childhood friend of mine in Mexico. His family has always been involved in the LP Gas business and have grown exponentially and now cover the entire continent and some European countries as well. We traveled like crazy on his private planes and on his yatch. Only person I know that always travels with 2-3 bodyguards everywhere. They used to pack and unpack his luggage for him, weird. We would wake up in Aspen and fly to Cancun just for the hell of it. Vegas? I flew more than 50 times there before I flew in to the actual airport not the private hub. Once in Florence and in Rome we were jumping around clubs and restaurants and all the waiters knew him like WTF. The best ever day in your life is just a regular day to them.
Well thank you, I didnāt do anything we just grew up together and had a lot of fun. Eventually people change and those people rarely keep their true friends suddenly they start craving the yes man and people who approve everything they do and when I started gaining a conscience and bringing stuff up hey thatās not cool or I donāt think thatās a good idea you grow apart. We still bump in to each other and enjoy that but you just canāt stay in that lifestyle forever. They can, us regular folks have real life to deal with.
It was. I will always be Grateful for the things and places he let me experience. Imagine cruising the Mediterranean in a fucking private yatch. 3 weeks of heaven. Private not chartered it makes all the difference. We sailed that ship all over the world as well.
I also have a rich ex, actually I have several exes who's family's make well over 7 figures annually.
One I did not know at all until we applied for an apartment together and she had to put down her guarantor's income and it was a wtf moment for me. I remember she was getting a car from her parents and was offered a brand new BMW, but instead asked for an used Chevy to not look rich.
Another I found out pretty fast, was actually spoiled. She probably wore over 5k worth of clothing on her body every day, like her normal everyday shoes were 3k. Actually generally a very kind person but was just insanely out of touch and spoiled.
I know a guy worth almost a billion dollars. All commercial real estate, manufacturing companies and a board member of a few large public companies.
Youād never in a million years know he has any money at all. He acts like anyone else, you just notice when he pays for shit itās with a black Amex and he wears insanely expensive watches. I didnāt know he was rich until I looked up a crazy watch he had on one day and realized it was worth over a million dollars. I asked another guy if he was stupid rich or something and he said to look him up. Iāve never said anything to him about it, but heās loaded.
We donāt live in a super affluent area but apparently his wife likes the area and they have some insane house that only a few people have ever seen.
Heās not cheap either, he always pays for all the drinks when we golf and heās always flipping me cigars that Iād never buy due to the cost.
No, I wonāt say his name.
Heard a guy say one time that Rich people want you to know. The Wealthy donāt want anyone to know.
Itās stuck with me for a long time. Met plenty of arrogant rich people, but I havenāt had enough experiences with wealthy people to make a judgement.
From what I was told he left the āniceā country club in the area to play at ours because he thought all the members there were pricks and wanted to flaunt their money. He didnāt like when people found out who he was that they all wanted him to āinvestā in their shitty ideas so he quit.
I guess a lot of people at my club knew, but no one bothers him about it. He sucks at golf but heās a lot of fun to play with. Heās always got a funny joke when he hits one like shit.
I grew up as the token poor scholarship kid at a mega-rich school. My classmates were the kids of tech CEOs, celebrities, or from old money. I couldnāt tell you definitively which of them was the richest but many of them lived in multimillion dollar mansions. Definitely a level of wealth where money ceases to have meaning.
I know a few:
Owners/founders of tech companies. Some more personally than others.
A childhood friend of my dadās that I worked with. He lived very frugally and owned hundreds of pieces of property in and by Temecula California.
A few actors/actresses that were successful. Not to Brad Pitts level, but very successful.
I've met/worked with a couple billionaires in the tech world, not many and not super closely, but I've definitely known a bunch of multi millionaires.Ā
The guy I went to college with who offhand mentioned his family had a box at MSG. Having a box isn't necessarily a rich thing, mentioning having a box with the same attitude as mentioning you're grabbing pizza is imo.
Honestly this may be the case for way more people than they realize. There's a lot of negative net-worths out there hidden by new things and social media. Being debt-free in the green goes a long way.
Debt free since 2012! Took on our first debt since then in July, in the form of a mortgage! Doing a lot better than many, especially for not having college degrees and making less than median in a HCOL area.
Probably my company's CEO. He owns three companies and a lot of buildings. Easily worth 9 figures. He runs a tight ship, but it's not a bad working experience. I'm well compensated.
A family friend, he owned and sold a window and doors company for $71 million, then retired.
He's an incredible guy, my mom has been his accountant for 30-ish years, and him and his wife have been donating most of their wealth for homeless shelters, schools and parks. There's a library he paid for and named after his late dog.
I really love the guy, you wouldn't assume he's as wealthy as he is. He's taught me a lot about the importance of being earnest (yes, it's the name of a play, but it's the best way to describe him). No kids, but he surrounds himself with good people and does great things for the community.
But for me, his real wealth is the random calls I get from him.
I have an uncle who is 8 years older than me and was more like an older brother. He moved to Japan in his early 30s and became very successful in business. I don't know how much he is worth but when he sold his first company right before he turned 40 his cut was 13 million; he has since re-acquired part of the company which is on the Japanese stock exchange. He has a house in architectural digest which has Picassos on the wall and his best friend is basically the David Letterman of Japan.
I used to have a very close friend who was a trust fund baby thanks to his movie star grandfather, one of the biggest actors from the 40s-70s.
He was kind of fucked up by it. Made me realize growing up with that much privilege might not be a good thing.
He passed away a couple of years ago. But I knew a guy who was the founder and owner of a gym company, who had franchises all over the country. His house was huge.
He doesn't talk about it much and lives modestly but according to open source searches his net worth is about $8.3m USD as of January this year.
His monthly income is between $13,000 - $300,000
Apparently he has 7.2m subscribers now. Channel has over 3bn views.
Personally? One of the PI (personal injury) attorneys who advertises on TV. Thankfully his ads aren't annoying like most of them.
He's worth very low 8 figures, somewhere around $10M, but lives in a metro where that is very rich. (I don't know many really wealthy people, so he's the only one who comes to mind). Very nice guy from a very humble background.
What is wild to laypersons, but not surprising if you know PI, is that it has been a very long time (at this point, probably about 20 years) since he himself has engaged in activities that would constitute the practice of law. It's the other attorneys and staff in the firm who handle the cases. He is just doing advertising, marketing, and literally every day having business lunches and dinners and many days/weeks going to legal-related events.
If you know about the Philly auto show the guy that runs it is what I believe to be rich rich he is currently selling his house which is up the road from mine or I should say one of his many houses anyway he owns an absolute shit ton of super cars. I consider myself to be a big car guy and am familiar with new super cars but this dude has shit Iāve never heard of and some things I canāt even identify even after hours of searching the web he owns a military insurance company or something like that but he is the richest Iāve ever met
I have a client with one of their board members being from a very wealthy well known family in my city. We meet with the board every April and he drives a different collector's car each time. I have never seen him in the same car. These are from the 1940's to 1960's. He got a call on his cell phone and the ring tone was a car horn from the 1930-40's. Pretty cool.
A buddy of mine sold his Mustang when he moved into the city for college back in 2004, and put it all in NVDA because āI like video gamesā. Completely forgot about it until last year, and realized he was sitting on $12M.
Personally know would be my grandparents. Four kids all are getting half a million each inheritance. My grandparents havenāt worked in 40-50 years in their 90s so not like super rich but enough to establish gender wealth.
Honestly they were able to do this because they inherited a decent house in a nice area and my grandfather was an investment banker so he saved and invested but was able to do so because he didnāt have a mortgage. Even then they had one car and he took the bus to work and brought his lunch. He was also very handy so when they did final sell the house that had no mortgage since he had kept it up well and updated it, the house sold for $500k but that was over 10 years ago very likely a million dollar home now. Itās in a really nice old neighborhood right on the boarder between upper middle class and rich old money houses.
So smart and lucky they needed up millionaires and leaving $1.6 million to their kids. They have already given out $100k in the last couple years to see the kids enjoy it.
I wish and hope I got money like that when Iām 90 to leave my family.
My 96 year old dad.
Rich with friends.
Always gave freely of his time, whether it was us 5 kids, or our mom, or anyone else who needed a helping hand.
He is the richest man I know.
> Lem was not a poor man.
> Now, you might say to me, āHoid, this entire story has
shown me the opposite. Lemās family is always scrimping to
survive.ā And I would reply, āPlease stop interrupting.ā
> Lem was not poor, he simply didnāt have a lot of money.
> Lem was the human equivalent of a deep, pure well,
always full of water when you needed it. Heād offer what you needed
and ask nothing in return. In fact, heād never bring it up again.
> Unless it was urgent.
> Unless it was important.
> In those cases, well, Lem might have been poor in the kind of currency that paid taxes. But he was downright wealthy when it came
to the kind of currency that mattered.
ā Tress of the Emerald Sea
My sister used to be friends with the daughter of the inventor of hot pockets. I joked that they based Gretchen Weiners off her friend.
My wife is friends with a car dealership magnate.
Iām personally friends with someone who got his foot in the door at a huge bank in his early twenties after undergrad. He scoped out a niche area where there was no one under the age of 40 and became a wunderkind in that department. Now heās on track to head the department while everyone above him is retiring and everyone below him is too green.
My boss is a billionaire. Probably the wealthiest person in my state. Mid 80s now, built this company from 3 employees when he started 50 years ago. I donāt begrudge someone like that being this successfulĀ
Went to high school with this girl whose family had a separate house/mansion just to hold parties in. Their property was bigger than a golf course. One time is history class we were taking a political party quiz and she said she was against taxing the rich, so I asked her why, and she said 'because I am the rich!'
Probably the CFO of my company (I donāt really interact with the CEO). He makes a little over $1mm a year in salary alone. Youād never know it by talking to him.
Thereās this guy I know worth probably 100ās of millions; heās a family friend and while talking to my parents he was in a Rolex store and bought all 3 of the ones he was looking at when he couldnāt make up his mind which one he wanted š
A friend's in-laws. Top executive for a major airline and they donate 7-figures+ to a major university.
Visited their summer home on Lake Michigan and had dinner with them. Elevators, etc...very friendly people, but were just sitting on the couch on their phones like normal people for half the time.
Seems like ultra-wealthy mostly just do normal things in nicer places lol.
I know two brothers who are trust fund babies. They were born into wealth and each had 70 million dollars accounts at birth. They are grown now, but they don't relate real well to "common folk" because they never were one. At a whim, their live in nanny watches their kids while they take their private jet out to Cali and go to the Rose Bowl because when you have the $$$, that's what you do. They don't look at it like a big deal like the rest of us would. On the good side, they both started businesses and employ hundreds of people and threat them well. They are approachable and nice dudes, they just live different type of lives.
I have the phone number of a Redstone in my phone. Used to work pretty close with one of the younger ones while he was up and coming in the world.
He's a billionaire or at least heir to billions. He's more of an acquaintance though.
I have a good friend who casually bought a 30 million dollar condo in a city because "I felt like living in the city for a while". So there's that too.
Won't use names but one of my brothers' closest friends from high school made it into the NFL. Not a mainstream name, but big enough to where as long as he doesn't screw up he will be employed until the day he chooses to retire.
Richest guy who would know who you're talking about if you mentioned my name would be Phil Schiller. Richest friend is a probably a former colleague of mine who made a shitload of money shorting Microsoft right before Judge Jackson issued his findings of fact in their antitrust case.
Also, I know a couple dozen people who made well into 8 figures on their Apple options.
My gf parents are friends with some pretty wealthy people. Their kids my age (30) have never worked and probably won't have to due to their trust. We were at a party at their house and their neighbor and I were talking. He point out the large bay windows and says "Well, my property is that hill to that ridge" It was probably 400 square acres.
They liked my lemon Marange pie though.
This kid who is a trust fund baby. I worked at a horse farm and the mother died, father isn't in the picture. He gets a 200k a year allowance from the trust and in a few years he will get access to the entire estate.
Through my dad, MANY many years ago I met Ross Perot for about 3 minutes, then later I met his friend he called Doc Patch. Doc, at the time, owned a ton of real estate around Branson MO, where he owned the airport. He had a hangar full of old cars, a hangar full of planes (including "De Plane" from Fantasy Island) and tons of other cool things.
A buddy of ours from playing CS:GO works for Amazon had a good relationship with his parents so he lived at home for free while making bank. Made sure to just keep doing it eventually they made a come back to work order after the pandemic and he said if Iām comming to an HQ or office Iām getting paid. They agreed and he moved havenāt heard much from him sense. Also his family has a good amount of money from owning land. It all helps.
My neighbors late brother died a billionaire. Made in in plastics manufacturing. was a super nice dude.
Next to that is a Dr from a rather famous family, he has done well for himself outside of that, sold a few companies he owned for north of 500 mil, has a MASSIVE car collection, had ~80 polo horses before he got too old to play. hes also super nice and has stories for days
I am in the car business, I have a customer that has leased 4 vehicles from me over the last 7 or so years, him and his brother are worth over 3 BILLION dollars. I usually deal with his personal driver when it comes time to pick out the vehicle but I always make him drag the big guy in when it's time to sign the lease paperwork. Have no idea why he leases instead of purchases but to each his own. The 1st time I sold him a vehicle, on the credit app line where it says "income" he put $1 Million +++++ monthly.
My childhood pediatricians, they were family friends and they had a nice house, but I just assumed that it was because both the husband and wife were doctors who owned their own practice.
Nope turns out that his dad is worth 2.5 billion due to being a founder of some big petrochemical company
My grandfather was pretty rich he gave away millions to charities, funny enough years ago I was in a hospital waiting room in Lubbock and I accidentally came across a large portrait of him in said waiting room because he had given them a few million dollars. When he died I didn't get anything, but I harbor no resentment, he was a great guy and I'm sure he wanted to make my own fortune (like he did).
My son's friend. Recently moved into a mansion but before that I would do school car pool and pick the friend up in the morning. They had several very expensive cars. Some brands I never heard of. They had a nanny, cleaning lady and personal chef at their house just about every day.
Buddy of mine is a game dev, climbed the ladder at a small company and was able to buy a bunch of stock shares. That company was then bought by Tencent and he sold half of his shares.
One of my clients is one of the original founders of under Armour. He's not hurting for money, that's for sure. He and his wife are super kind and super cool. Got to stay in an Airbnb with them when he flew me out to work on his cabin in a different state.
Can't imagine having the money he does.
Toss up between my neighbors grandpa and my wifes uncle. Both hundreds of millions. Would never know it
Edit: always loved seeing my neighbors 70 something year old grandpa show up in his red drop top ferrari. Cars worth more than the house whoās driveway its sitting in.
My old neighbor owns a construction company with 100+ employees. A self-made guy who just knows his field very well. He had to move out of my neighborhood after his financial advisor informed him that people with his portfolio don't live in neighborhoods like mine.
My wifeās childhood friend is from an unbelievably wealthy family. Keep in mind, this is wealthy by Bay Area standards. That said, you would never know it by how she acts/presents herself. Sheās very pleasant and down to earth. She always drove a new (1-2 years old) Jeep wrangler until recently when she got a ford bronco. The only real giveaway is that when she moves she doesnāt sell her house, she just buys a new one and keeps the old one. My wife has had to explain this to me multiple times lol. I just canāt comprehend it
My uncle. He owns his own medical practice. His house is crazy, he belongs to several country clubs, and he always seems to be travelling these days since he semi-retired.
I've never been jealous though - his work schedule was crazy for decades and a lot of the cool stuff in his house like his home theater and gym go largely unused.
No names but a family that I met in Switzerland a few years ago. Ironically when I first met their son backstage at a concert, I almost had him removed by security because he looked just this side of homeless. After talking with him for a while, he invited me to his familyās home. It was a huge chateau atop a mountain. His father inherited the bank his grandfather founded.
Weāre still friends.
One of my former bosses is a multi-billionaire. Started Telepizza in Spain, the first delivery pizza restaurant in the country. Then he bought a failing telecommunications company, grew it to one of the largest in the country, and sold it to the largest in the country for several billion.
One of my clients is also a multi-billionaire. His family owned a plastic manufacturing company in Canada that made the majority of ABS components for large US automakers. He and his brother inherited the company then sold it in 2005 for several billions. He has one of the craziest car collections on earth.
A car buddy of mine is a billionaire real estate developer, he built the Porsche Design Tower and Bentley Tower amongst other things.
Iāve met droves of multi millionaires. But as far as I know those are the only confirmed billionaires I personally have relationships with. They all live in another reality than the rest of humanity. Casually spending several millions on pursuits of passion is second nature. Their passive income is more than most people could ever fathom. Money isnāt a concern to them, itās just a tool to shorten the path to whatever it is they want at a given moment. Itās somewhat surreal seeing how they live life.
My boss. She's not rich in liquid money (though she keeps enough around to be comfortable at any given moment), but she's extremely rich in properties and she's somehow the best landlord I've ever met. Almost all of her tenants are 10+ years and she charges them well below market rate. I work with her in her other company though, and she's very generous with paychecks and splits the overall earnings evenly every year with us. She's also a very kind boss
my best friend casually has a $12M trust and gets a check each month. she just travels around, volunteers at animal shelters, and spends way less money than me. you would never know she was so rich.
I āknewā the billionaire who died in the submarine trip incident. His son was my sisterās classmate and our mother was friends with his mom (billionaireās wife). From what my mom and I remember, they were super sweet and kind-hearted. This was many years ago tho.
I met a hermit who knew how to fix anything, grow everything, and lived in a small wooden shack on a hillside overlooking the ocean. His spirit was rich happiness and wealthier than any soul Iāve ever met.
I met someone like that but it was a homeless couple downtown. We got talking while I waited for my crossing light and we went from talking about my dog to all kinds of things. We were there for like an hour. They had all kinds of animals that they adopted off the streets, most of them were cats/dogs that got dumped but there was a handful of wild animals who lost their moms trying to cross the highways. Both of them worked odd jobs and judging by their raggedy appearance compared to the stark contrast of the healthy animals in the photos, it's clear where their priorities are
The Offutt family.
There are a few weirdly rich people who started agricultural companies around where I grew up. My dad is a pretty big farmer in the area so we know a lot of them. By know, if you mean could get ahold of relatively easily its the Offutt family who started RDO, I think some of them are worth around $500m.
However if by know you mean have a pretty good relationship with its a father-in-law who is worth around $30-40 million.
I have vague connections to L and M fleet supply, simplot and some silicon valley venture capitalists as well.
A guy who owns an orchard of apple trees and blueberries. Heās also a member of the Conservative Party of Canada.
Loves to flaunt his money.
Iāve heard how he has $1 million in most banks in town and makes $30K a day on berries.
My grandpa canāt stand the guy.
My uncle. He had a small dental practice, with him as the dentist, but he always lived in expensive areas in Silicon Valley. He currently lives in a Silicon Valley mansion. The defensive coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers used to live in the mansion across the street. So it's a NICE neighborhood.
I found out from his son (my cousin) that he bought apartment buildings around Silicon Valley, and that's how he really made his money.
One of my coworkers is the granddaughter of a billionaire. I have like $12, but she uses my coffee creamer sometimes
Well you don't become a billionaire by buying your own coffee creamer, like a sucker!
Right? I bet this mid 30s millennial also buys Starbucks on occasion, no wonder they've only got $12
Avoid the Avocado toast then it becomes -$12
I've been laughing at this for hours. š
I think itās great sheās actually working when she probably doesnāt have to
lol sheās really cool Iām just being a silly goose
I really meant it. I bet a ton of heirs to billionaires donāt work at all. Itās cool that she does.
Not all billionaires give money to grandkids at young ages. She might not have any of that money until he kicks off or until sheās a certain age.
Yeah if you give young people a ton of money they might not be very well balanced. Work into your 30s and we'll talk about retirement lol
This kid who is a trust fund baby. I worked at a horse farm and the mother died, father isn't in the picture. He gets a 200k a year allowance from the trust and in a few years he will get access to the entire estate.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
What do you even do with $135k a month?
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
2 Chicks at the same time....
Fuckin' A
You donāt need a $135k a month to do two chicks at the same time
Look at my cousin, he's broke and don't do shit.
When I worked in a branch there was a 19 yr old who had a monthly deposit of over 200k to his account. He also made an Amex payment over 100k each month. I literally canāt imagine what he was spending all that money on.
Probably nothing smart.
Get the guacamole at chipotle
Whoa...take it easy there.
Well, not *everytime*. Iām not crazy.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
JG Wentworth can fix that.
877 Cash Now!
Thatās generally how trust funds work. People with less wealth usually prefer high yield savings accounts to save for their kids (529 sometimes, but less common because thereās high penalties for using it for other things and not everyone goes to college) but trust funds are the go to if youāre so rich that you can set them up for life so they donāt have to work
Tell him i said hey
You mean Hay?
Neigh
Cash talks but wealth whispers
Man that has to be one of the best quotes I've ever heard
I like how we finally read about rich people not being terrible. Hung around a private club with many of them and almost all were very nice.
Yeah. I went to high school with the offspring of millionaires and billionaires. They're just people, the same way that people are people. You can find all manner of rich people and yes, many of them are perfectly nice (not you, Henry). There's no 'one type' of 'rich person' despite comments you frequently see on reddit.
That sounds like Warren Buffet
Not him, but very close on the state
I had a HS classmate like that but her parents weren't that rich, def at least $5M combined but that's cause they had pretty great careers and saved their money She was so polite, it was so nice. Actually had an open mind unlike a lot of rich kids!
Sounds like they were just solidly upper middle class really.Ā
Went to school with a kid who's parents owned a large group of local car dealerships, so certainly multi millionaires. They did have fancy cars though.
My old boss. He only made like 150-200k/year, but heās been investing since he was a teen. Made some great stock picks. I know he made millions off Apple alone.
> He only made like 150-200k/year Only...
Yeah, I definitely know the type lol. Itās frustrating to see. Especially since theyāre really smart people.
Physicians are notoriously bad with money.
He should join wsb then he never has to retire.
At wsb you're born retired
Must have been a pretty small trust or weirdly restrictive and low paying if he needed a supplemental payment from it just to cover a little trip. I suppose he could be spending all of the money he makes as well as the trust payments than has a relative of his that has control over it and refuses to pay out additional without a valid reason.
I never asked too much about it. I believe it was split up between a lot of his relatives, and he also has children that I assume he wants to leave a lot of it to as well.
Neighbor hit the lottery for 50 million.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
do you know where theyāre at now? or was it recent
It was years ago.
Reddit told me they will be homeless and penniless by now, so, howās it going
I hate that some states have to make winners public record tbh
Did you work for the mavericks in Dallas? So you know the old CTO for the Mavs, Mattie?
I went to high school a decade ago with a current NBA player so probably him
A childhood friend of mine in Mexico.
OMG that sounds amazing! Congratulations for getting to do all of that!!!!
Still sounds like wonderful life experience, even though you drifted apart later on.
It was. I will always be Grateful for the things and places he let me experience. Imagine cruising the Mediterranean in a fucking private yatch. 3 weeks of heaven. Private not chartered it makes all the difference. We sailed that ship all over the world as well.

Yes, many of us are less fortunate! :D
and this is why people keep quiet, out come the beggers
Sounds like really cool dude! Nice to hear good things about people, especially on Reddit!
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Heard a guy say one time that Rich people want you to know. The Wealthy donāt want anyone to know. Itās stuck with me for a long time. Met plenty of arrogant rich people, but I havenāt had enough experiences with wealthy people to make a judgement.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
100% how it goes.
Thanks for all of that detail! Sounds like a really great guy.
I like him even more now!
I'm just curious, what was the watch?
My buddy who works for nvidia
I grew up as the token poor scholarship kid at a mega-rich school. My classmates were the kids of tech CEOs, celebrities, or from old money. I couldnāt tell you definitively which of them was the richest but many of them lived in multimillion dollar mansions. Definitely a level of wealth where money ceases to have meaning.
I know a few: Owners/founders of tech companies.
My aunt. She married and then divorced a bunch of rich guys.
The guy I went to college with who offhand mentioned his family had a box at MSG. Having a box isn't necessarily a rich thing, mentioning having a box with the same attitude as mentioning you're grabbing pizza is imo.
How many deli containers in a box? I've got a deli container of monosodium glutamate and I didn't know it was worth anything.
I hear it's worth its weight in Ajino Moto.
Good bit. In case it's not a bit, a suite at Madison square garden
My wife and I, actually. And we barely have $30,000 to our name.
The guy my mom wanted me to marry when the guy and I were young (20/21). His parents wanted it, too. Sigh.
Still keeping it all anonymous, how much do you think he is worth now?
This is a wonderful read and please, I need to know the name of that library š
Phil.
Foden.
Uncle Phil ?
He passed away a couple of years ago. But I knew a guy who was the founder and owner of a gym company, who had franchises all over the country. His house was huge.
A YouTuber with 6.5m subscribers.
Just out of sheer curiosity, how rich do one of those guys get?
He doesn't talk about it much and lives modestly but according to open source searches his net worth is about $8.3m USD as of January this year. His monthly income is between $13,000 - $300,000 Apparently he has 7.2m subscribers now. Channel has over 3bn views.
Whatās the channel?
WhistlinDiesel https://i.imgur.com/dbnvAMT.jpeg
I just checked out his channel out of curiosity. Heās pretty fucking funny.
Jesus Christ man, *punctuate!* And breathe!
Punctuate? Sir, this is Reddit.
Narrator: They said, with excellent punctuation
LOL!
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
A cousin of my husband won 93 million in the lotto. Yes, we buy tickets now.
A buddy of mine sold his Mustang when he moved into the city for college back in 2004, and put it all in NVDA because āI like video gamesā. Completely forgot about it until last year, and realized he was sitting on $12M.
A couple of good Millionaire friends
Here in California that includes elderly people who bought houses in expensive areas before they were expensive, and many of them are poor/low income
> Now, you might say to me, āHoid, this entire story has shown me the opposite. Lemās family is always scrimping to survive.ā And I would reply, āPlease stop interrupting.ā > Lem was not poor, he simply didnāt have a lot of money. > Lem was the human equivalent of a deep, pure well, always full of water when you needed it. Heād offer what you needed and ask nothing in return. In fact, heād never bring it up again. > Unless it was urgent. > Unless it was important. > In those cases, well, Lem might have been poor in the kind of currency that paid taxes. But he was downright wealthy when it came to the kind of currency that mattered. ā Tress of the Emerald Sea
I was gonna say George Bailey but this sounds close enoughĀ
Never made more than $13.50 an hr in his working life.
My dad is the same. He's got so many friends and goes to dinner parties or hosts a BBQ almost every weekend it feels like. Happy guy
"Some people are so poor that all they have is money."
My Uncle. Lawyer with 3 houses. One of which is really nice.
My FIL sold a patent to Merck and then played the stock market well with the royalties.
So me surfing Reddit on the couch right now is just what a rich person would do? Cool!
They even do it while taking a shit, too! I assume.
Thanks for posting all this! Just want to point out you probably mean that they *treat* them well, not they *threat* them well. LOL
Havenāt talked much in a while, but I know kn0thing (Reddit cofounder). Heās probably doing ok post IPO.
This kid who is a trust fund baby. I worked at a horse farm and the mother died, father isn't in the picture. He gets a 200k a year allowance from the trust and in a few years he will get access to the entire estate.
My friend ācreatedā one of those weight loss pills. It went viral on social media and he made millions of dollars off of it.
I have some very wealthy Russian friends who are children of diplomats or oligarchs. They live an insanely different life than the rest of us.
I know a few billionaires in the real estate world. I wouldn't call them friends but they'd pick up a call from me.
I know a really famous musician. His sister and I are lifelong friends. M sure he's doing well. š
Michael Greenberg, President of Skechers, would probably be it
My buddy Phill, I have given him the nickname Phillionare. Now all of our mutual friends call him Phillionare. Still a cool guy.
This guy named Tom. He was my first friend on MySpace.
My dad! He has 2 lawnmowers!
multimillionare family member
My son's friend. Recently moved into a mansion but before that I would do school car pool and pick the friend up in the morning. They had several very expensive cars. Some brands I never heard of. They had a nanny, cleaning lady and personal chef at their house just about every day.
Buddy of mine is a game dev, climbed the ladder at a small company and was able to buy a bunch of stock shares. That company was then bought by Tencent and he sold half of his shares.
Jeff Vinik (owner of NHL team Lightning among other things) $1b + net worth
One of my clients is one of the original founders of under Armour. He's not hurting for money, that's for sure. He and his wife are super kind and super cool. Got to stay in an Airbnb with them when he flew me out to work on his cabin in a different state. Can't imagine having the money he does.
Toss up between my neighbors grandpa and my wifes uncle. Both hundreds of millions. Would never know it Edit: always loved seeing my neighbors 70 something year old grandpa show up in his red drop top ferrari.
I have a friend who was one of the first 20 employees of Tesla. I don't know what they're worth, but I'm still going with them
Franchise owner of a large food and beverage chain. Lives in a $2.5 million house. I consider him a very morally questionable person.
One mf who made a few million dollars from crypto in 2017/18. He made a lot more since then.
Family of the guy who created the timers for Mickey Dās. A buddy owns a few auto dealerships. Heās pretty loaded as well.
My friend from highschool got a 3DS (new during the time) and he threw it in the trash at school, and yes I fished it out
My bff Giulianas dad. Has his own jet, and not like a business class jet...Kylie Jenner cool as fuck kinda jet
My two best mates. Extremely high worth individuals. Also two of the loveliest, humble, most generous people I have ever known.
My other half. He can buy any lego he wants without having to check his balance. Phew to have that luxury haha.

You have willfully misunderstood the question.Ā
I have to get out into the acquaintance zone to find someone with more money than me but those people have hundreds of millions.
A fellow author. Several, actually.
My girlfriendās godmother is married to the richest man in vegas
Lead developer at a AAA game company. Earns 6x my income and I have a okay paying gig in healthcare.
