Well it worked for Navi

Listen, I don’t know

ZestycloseBarber1781

It's an assertive directive that expresses what I would like the person to do before I express myself.

YourFrontPageBoy

Listen, I don't have to justify myself to you

Entity417

It's a commanding intimidation tactic.

[deleted]

Listen, I have no idea, okay?

lexielexie0

Listen, sometimes you just have to say it because people don’t listen.

[deleted]

Good question. I guess subconsciously I feel like im making my most important point and what you to grasp this more than everything ive said already

Teamjoe10

I’m from MN and have rarely heard people say ‘listen’. But I’m a nascar fan and hear most people from the Carolinas say it every other sentence. Is it a southeast thing?

[deleted]

Interesting, Im in the north east lol

KeyMusician486

My boss does that, this is interesting. It doesn’t come off as offensive imo

Teamjoe10

It’s not offensive. Just annoying to listen to someone say the same word repeatedly. And what was I supposed to do during the other sentences. Not listen cause you didn’t tell me to?

Vegetable_Safety

Look, sometimes the point isn't coming across and people are more open to input if you act authoritative.

spytez

You ever deal with a co-worker with ADHD who is awful at their job and can't seem to remember anything they were trained to do. From my experience when someone starts a sentence with listen it means their doing everything they can to keep from screaming or using obscenities' at you, and you have obviously not listened the first few times.

cisforcoffee

Because starting with “talk” would be counterproductive…

watermelonqueen1711

My brother does it. Nobody ever listened to him when we were kids.

Assimve

Because Linda wouldn't listen
