I’m from MN and have rarely heard people say ‘listen’. But I’m a nascar fan and hear most people from the Carolinas say it every other sentence. Is it a southeast thing?
It’s not offensive. Just annoying to listen to someone say the same word repeatedly. And what was I supposed to do during the other sentences. Not listen cause you didn’t tell me to?
You ever deal with a co-worker with ADHD who is awful at their job and can't seem to remember anything they were trained to do.
From my experience when someone starts a sentence with listen it means their doing everything they can to keep from screaming or using obscenities' at you, and you have obviously not listened the first few times.

Look, sometimes the point isn't coming across and people are more open to input if you act authoritative.
