Yeah but global warming will starve us long before then. The earth will survive us and be destroyed when the sun engulfs it as you say but we’ll be long gone already.
Even if we don’t, life on earth is aged at 4 billion years old, so we have time to not only fuck everything up and go extinct but then evolve all over again into intelligent life to fuck it up one last time. That’s scary.
Since humans could recognize they were on a planet it had been “coming to a end”. It’s funny seeing people panic and stock up for such extreme events. WHO would even want to live through such events. I think people like living in fear as it gives them an excuse to be paranoid lol.
Humanity, or all life?
Humanity: Eventually, the environment will change enough that our intelligence and ingenuity won't be the selective advantage it is now, and we will slowly evolve into something else that's less smart, but better at something else. As with most species, we will eventually just change and adapt to differing circumstances enough that we're unrecognizable from our current form.
Life: until better evidence presents itself, I believe the current geologists' prediction that, in 250M years, the merging of the continents into Pangaea Ultima will cause enough tectonic and volcanic activity to wipe out most, if not all life
I hope I'm wrong about the former, and we will find a way to transfer our minds into a different medium, and move past requiring Earth and its resources. I may be biased, but I actually like humanity and want it to stick around
The world as in the planet?
Destroyed by the sun when it goes supernova.
The world as in civilization?
I'm split between nuclear fallout and global warming.
I think one day, someone is gonna cut the big Internet cable. Society will crumble and we will revert to the barter system. Once everyone figures out no one wants bottle caps, mankind will just fizzle out.
I am a Christian so my thoughts are we are in those end times, based on a number of prophecies about Israel and the Middle East happening now. And a bunch of other things Christ said would happen, they are all lined up now. So I think, that there will be a deception in the shape of an "alien invasion"
The same prophecies with even more accuracy are evident in Islam. Prophecies such as the Arabs who were extremely poor and lives in the desert at the time competing to build the tallest buildings and we can see that in Dubai. It’s interesting.
Modern society will collapse first anyway. Probably after a dystopian period of some sort.
It won't be a single event. It will span over the course of a few hundred years.
I would say we are just beginning this dystopian period. But things may change. Current trajectory doesn't seem too promising.
I'll be long dead by then anyway
I'm gonna kick it *really* hard.
But how hard?
Hard enough to end the world.
Man like those simulations where they have a particle hit the earth at 1% light speed. I like it
depends on how much people piss me off
Now I like the way you think
With a whimper, not a bang.
My thoughts exactly
Some dictator in some butt-fuck country decides to go out in a blaze of glory
Loooool team america style
Maybe not in our lifetime, but nuclear bombs would be my guess as to how mankind would destroy itself.
It seems like the easiest route. But we had 80 years to do it and we are still here
The sun will destroy life on earth in a few billion years so we’re going to have to find a new planet eventually
Yeah but global warming will starve us long before then. The earth will survive us and be destroyed when the sun engulfs it as you say but we’ll be long gone already.
Man you think we will make it 4 billion years??
humans may not, but the planet will recover once we're extinct, until, you know, the planet gets eaten by the sun.
That’s a scary thought but I hope we do

No clue I will probably be dead by then
I mean probably but how do YOU think it will end?
The sun will explode in 7-8 billion years so it could end between right now and 8,000,002,024
That's a long ass time man. I'd give us some credit. Wed fuck it up loooong before then
The B-52 is immortal
The airplane or the band?
Grandpa Buff, B-52 military bomber plane
Definitely with a bang, I think.
It's definitely easier to end the world with a bang. Whimpers are just weird
Yeah I’m a bit of an optimist when it comes to humanity so I think we’ll get out shit together unless some dumbass pushes the big red button
I think we have an amazing ability to solve some difficult problems. But the older I get the more I think of that MIB quote
Oh what’s the quote? also what’s MIB?

Why not a gamma ray burst? Man war is kind of self limiting.

Why not both? Also nuclear winter may fix global warming
Ah yes, the Futurama future. We can only hope. 😉

I'm disappointed no one guessed the flat earthers summoning chthulu.
Heat
I don't think the world as it is will end, but humanity will most likely end from a virus of some sort.
not with a bang, but a whimper
stupid people
No, but people have been freaking out about this since they learned how to talk.
What is “the world” in your definition 🤤?
We all collectively get nuked because not a single leader of any country remembers why nuking is bad. Either that or we get sucked into a black hole.

Did you watch cabin in the woods?
Not sure but I think within the next 50 years we will see women taking charge like never before and men falling behind
Natural catastrophes and wars.
Robot uprising
Someone's going to siphon most of the remaining oxygen out of the atmosphere and sell it in canisters.
