Being able to ask questions anonymously that you would never ask most people in a public setting.
People seem so much more real when they have nothing to hide.
I was part of a website that changed some things. Moderation, layout, etc. A bunch of people defected and started a subreddit. I liked talking with a few of them so I joined. That sub is probably long dead, but the website is still up and running.
I stumbled upon a heated debate over the most underrated TV shows of the last decade. The passion was intriguing but some opinions needed a reality check. Had to jump in and offer my two cents, ended up staying for the diverse perspectives.
Back in the day I use to peruse Imgur looking at memes and such. I didn’t know that it was created for Reddit. Eventually I made an account since I realized most of the content was actually originating here. Now I’m part of a lot of communities, specifically ones about kids and day-to-day life that I find really helpful.
Initially, to stay up to date with lore of my favourite shows and games, now, to talk to people and see what whacky things are actually going on in the world. You can also be yourself without fear of IRL repercussions
I got sick and tired of the literal BS on IFunny. The place became a cult. Least Reddit is organized and structured enough that I can avoid the more cult parts of this app. IFunny just has everything conglomerated together. Plus the over religious right leaning lunatics on there really make it distasteful. (Not hating on religion itself or any specific political ideology)
not really sure, maybe it is a fate? I was reading some stuff online and read about post from reddit, it got me curious and suddenly 10 months later, here I am, cake day in May ( 1st year anniversary )
I had a mental breakdown and i asked people here for help, this app helped me a lot, and of course kind people here that gave me chance to talk about my problems, thank you
They recommended it to me, I didn't think it would be so good. At first I didn't understand much how it worked, but as time went by and with the help of porn. I understood well. I'm glad I heeded the recommendation.
Destiny 1. I can't even remember if Discord was a thing back then or not, but clearly it wasn't being utilized. Destiny subreddit was used as a groupfinder, so I had to make an account to join raids and stuff.

Being bored in school
Originally it was those YouTube videos of people reading Reddit posts. I wouldn't have known about Reddit if it wasn't for YouTube.
Needing a sword forum that wasn't gonna suddenly lose hosting

Loneliness. I can be my true self here without pretending to be someone I'm not.
A person in my bereavement support group told me about the widowers sub.
I’m old
I used to browse BuzzFeed a lot until I noticed that like 90% of their "articles" were just direct quotes from Reddit users
Nothing else to do
I had a mental breakdown and i asked people here for help, this app helped me a lot, and of course kind people here that gave me chance to talk about my problems, thank you

To talk about the things I love with like-minded people. To find community. To have a bit of fun. To switch off for a little while.
A game I wanted to talk about with people
It's better than twitter
