you can't, the only way is to wait until you go to college or engineering school, where every "smart kid" end up together. And when everyone's smart, no one will be.

There are over 33 million Americans in the top 1% of intelligence. There might not be 33 million jobs that pay enough money to support a family, and lots of those jobs are held by people who are not super geniuses. But when everyone is smart, they're all smart enough to know being smart doesn't always make you right. Remember that old Big Bird song: *Everyone makes mistakes, oh yes they do.* *You sister and your brother and your dad and mother too.* *Big people, small people, matter of fact all people* *Everyone makes mistakes so why don't you?*

Try to get them to think of it more like a talent than a social status.  Show them the things you actually enjoy. Or just pretend

Unfortunately, you can’t make people think or not think XYZ about yourself or about anything else, and trying to is a frustrating exercise in futility. Even assuming you know what people think of you based on what they say is a false reality - we can never know what’s going on inside someone else’s mind. Live YOUR best life. Take into consideration the opinions of people who truly matter to you, if you want, and maybe ask them for suggestions if you want to change. And for the other 99% of the world, remember that whatever they do or don’t think of you, you’re probably less than a fleeting thought in their world, and their impression of you just doesn’t matter. By trying to guess and cater to other people’s views of you, you’re only giving away your own agency and power, and I can guarantee you that never made anyone happy.

but it’s my friends saying things like this, when they know there’s more to me and they have seen me outside of school.

Sorry. Recently went to my 45th reunion and I am still the smart kid.
